B-Denial:

Denying that Bin Laden and radical Muslims were behind the 9/11 attacks may express either a genuine belief that Muslims were not behind these attacks or may just be a form of passive
support for the terrorists.
In the latter case, a moral
dilemma exists. Particularly in the West, supporting Bin Laden can put a person in a difficult situation and possibly create backlash against him or against
the Muslim community at large.

Meanwhile, if someone were to admit that Bin Laden was actually behind the attacks, this person could very well be pressured on the spot to openly denounce him, and for many Muslims to do so would be paramount to betraying a fellow Muslim brother. In order to avoid this moral dilemma, it is simply easier to deny that Bin Laden was behind 9/11 to begin with!
Islam › Re: Passive Terrorism: The Peaceful Violence by usermane(op):
If the Muslim's reaction in these demonstrations was genuine against the Islamic terrorists it should have happened immediately after September 11 rather than years after the event. The delayed reaction to September 11, and
the relatively weak and local nature of the former reactions, cast doubt if these few demonstrations were truly and in principle against Islamist
terrorism.

In other words, Muslims reacted like an 'Umma' (i.e. global reaction of the Muslim world) to defend Islam when they felt it was insulted and on the contrary their reaction was only of a sporadic and of limited nature when it was against Islamist terrorism.

This huge discrepancy in Muslim reaction to different situations further elucidates the problem of passive terrorism.
Islam › Re: Passive Terrorism: The Peaceful Violence by usermane(op): 9:06am On Jul 26, 2014
It is also fair to say that there were a few scattered demonstrations in the Muslim world against terrorism, however, they were very small in number and magnitude compared to the global nature of the demonstrations described earlier. In fact, the few Muslim demonstrations against terrorism could be attributed to the desire of the Muslim population in certain areas to protect their economical interests or to prevent a backlash against them rather than a genuine stand against Islamist terrorism.
Islam › Re: Passive Terrorism: The Peaceful Violence by usermane(op):
5-Types of Passive Terrorism:

A: Lack of Powerful
Demonstrations Against the Terrorists:

On one hand, powerful
demonstrations erupted in the Muslim world to denounce the publication of cartoons in a Danish newspaper portraying
Prophet Mohamed, to criticize the pope for citing an anti-Muslim historical phrase and to object to the French
government's decision to ban the hijab in high schools. Yet on the other hand, since 9/11, there has not been ONE similar demonstration as powerful and passionate against Bin Laden and the other Islamic terrorists that have killed thousands of innocent victims, among which
include Muslims. In fact, there have been powerful demonstrations in several parts of the Muslim world in support of Bin Laden. This disparity only gives the terrorists a "green light" to plan even more attacks.
Islam › Re: Passive Terrorism: The Peaceful Violence by usermane(op): 8:50am On Jul 26, 2014
Remaining passive against the terrorists may also increase the
likelihood that some Islamic organizations in the West will receive financial support from
other Islamic organizations or
from individuals in the Muslim world. Furthermore, those who show active verbal support for the terrorists would be exposing themselves as non-moderates, thereby running the risk of losing western financial support given to non-profit organizations.

Therefore, staying passive is a win-win situation. It guarantees support from both the Islamists, who will appreciate and view these organizations' passive attitudes as a form of support for jihad, and from the West, who may mistakenly view these organizations as "moderates" who do not support terrorism.
Islam › Re: Passive Terrorism: The Peaceful Violence by usermane(op): 8:41am On Jul 26, 2014
4-Why Passive Terrorists Avoid Active Verbal Support For the
Active Terrorists:

In many cases, verbal support for the terrorists can put a person in
difficult circumstances with authorities. Voicing approval can also have negative results for a person, whether at work or in the community, especially if this person lives in the West. In addition, some Muslims may not be expressing their true beliefs out of fear of potential western
backlash against Muslim
communities. Since a popular desire is for an Islamic system
(Sharia Law) to be established in the West by gradually increasing
the size of the Muslim population there, the risk of backlash would
certainly impede the realization of this dream.

Empiree: Oriental Jews live among Arabs and they never had problem until zionists took over others property.
They never had problem or they just chosed it to the prosecution they 'll suffer under the Roman or Byzantine Christians? You sure detest zionists but from your video, what make those Palestinians who believe that Jerusalem and Al Aqsa mosque belong to them, the Muslims and inheritor of the legacy of Abraham any better than the zionists?

Empiree: Didn't I tell you you have problem with islam and muslims? again.
oh, now i understand. When terrorists like Al shabaab hits, you are quick to absolve urself, pointing the atrocities as city crimes with no relation to being Muslim or Islam. But when some muslims are attacked, you jump the gun easily, calling it a deliberate attack on Islam aimed at the victims for being muslims. FYI, i didn't mention Islam at all in my first post and not to hurt your likes, i chosed 'arab' over 'muslim' in describing the palestinian.

In other situations some Muslims may be afraid that if they speak against the terrorists, they or their family members could be a target of the attacks.

In addition, the tribal mentality in the Muslim world may also make some unable to criticize their fellow Muslims, as it is shameful for them to publically criticize someone belonging to their own culture. One of the common sayings in the Muslim world that supports this way of thinking is actually a misquoted Hadith of the prophet Mohamed. It says, "support your Muslim brother either he was an oppressor or a victim".

This Hadith, as well as the tribal way of thinking, have made many in the Muslim world unwilling to openly criticize their fellow Muslim brothers.

This group may feel guilty that they cannot do Jihad for Allah. Therefore, the minimum they could do to support their religion is to send the Jihadists an indirect message of support by avoiding criticism of them.
Some others may remain passive because terrorism in their view may create pressure on the West
and force them to give political concessions benefitting the Muslim cause, such as exerting
more pressure against Israel in the Arab-Israeli conflict. In this case, the passive support for
terrorism would be to achieve a political gain.
Islam › Re: Passive Terrorism: The Peaceful Violence by usermane(op):
This 'false' feeling of victory further supports the confidence of these Muslims in Islam, as it is promised in the holy text, according to orthodox interpretations, that the believers will achieve victory over the non- believers.
This promise of victory tends to be interpreted in a military sense.

In addition, some in the Muslim world may support the violent acts because they have deep support for the concept of violent Jihad. Jihad is primarily and traditionally taught in mainstream/orthodox Islamic books as a form of war against the infidels.

Some of those who support violent Jihad may not be able to participate in the process of fighting themselves because they have earthly responsibilities or they may just prefer the present life to the next life. Both of these factors that prevent a person from participating in violent Jihad are heavily criticized in orthodox Islamic teachings.

3- Analysing the phenomenom of Passive Terrorism.

One likely factor for support of passive terrorism is the widely- held classical Islamic conception of God that is greatly influenced by 'fear' of his power.
Furthermore, from a cultural perspective, the Arab world places great emphasis on appearances of strength and weakness. The historical
importance of the ancient
military conquests to spread the religion in which non-Muslims were greatly defeated, certainly influences this. In fact, ancient Arabic poems, which still have importance in the Muslim world today, glorify and boast of tribal warfare successes.

This respect
for the role of power and victory has the tendency to make many Muslims happy with acts of terror, as these individuals view such acts as a form of victory over the "infidels." The desire to see this form of Islamic victory, even at a relatively low scale through terror attacks, satisfies to some extent the desire to see Islam as a superior power again.
Islam › Re: Israel's Ingratitude To Palestine by usermane(m):
Arab-Isreali conflict : Origins
The Jews since 19th century always had this goal of returning to Palestine to reclaim Isreal.
Palestine originally ruled by the Ottoman Turks was captured by British with aid from the arabs during the first world war. The British had promised the arabs creation of arab states on the land. They had also made a similar promise to the zionists. Handling the land to arabs, gradual immigration of Jews started.
Palestine would later on become a heterogenous state of about 1 million Muslims, 600,000 Jews, 100,000 Christians and thus it was more of a muslim nation.
Post world war 2, Jewish population rose and developed rapidly, thanks to immigration from Hitler 's persecution in Europe. Clearly threatened, the arabs demanded cease of Jewish immigration. Clashes between the arabs and the Jews intensified that partition of the land into an arab, jewish and international state was proposed by UN. The arabs rejected the proposal, the Jews agreed and proceeded to declare the state of Isreal.
At this point in the conflict, it would be it ok to blame the Isrealis for usurping arab land after subsequent victories but at the depth comes the realisation that the arabs are just as guilty.
Many Palestinian sympathizers believe the Palestinian militants will cease fire once their land ursurped after previous war is returned by the Isrealis. Of course this should solve the dispute but Palestinian militants want everything; to them, their land include even the soil on which the state of Isreal stands on. In short, they want total elimination of Isreal from the map.

Active terrorism is performing intentional
violent acts against non- combatants or civilians.
Facilitation and support for Islamist terrorism can take on the forms of ideological, financial, or logistical.
Passive terrorism is defined by the author as a form of indirect support for terrorism by silently condoning it or by using tactics that convey a message of support approval, or encouragement to the active terrorists without actually being involved directly in the attacks themselves. This typically takes the form of hidden cultural messages that can be understood by the radicals but in most circumstances go
undetected by outsiders, especially non-Muslim observers.

This article addresses the issue of "passive
terrorism" and explains how such rather unresisting attitudes
by the Muslim community aggravate the terrorism problem.
The possible causes of passive terrorism, its types, and its dynamic interplay with active
terrorism are also addressed. The potential implications of passive terrorism are also discussed.

For the purpose of
understanding the phenomenon of Islamist terrorism, the author suggests that this phenomenon be viewed and analyzed under the context of the following
three categories:

1- Active attacks
2- Facilitation
3- Passive Terrorism
Islam › Re: Passive Terrorism: The Peaceful Violence by usermane(op):
An Analysis of the Phenomenon of Passive Terrorism

This article will address the phenomenon of passive terrorism and its relationship with active terrorism.

1-Introduction:
With the 9/11 attacks and the continued high number of terrorist-related occurrences
worldwide (incidents in the US linked to home-grown terrorism actually peaked in 2009)
The reaction of the Muslim community against the terrorists has been relatively weak in comparison to other situations in which this community felt that its religion was being insulted. The strong and violent reaction by Muslims in response to the publication of cartoons depicting the prophet Mohamed in a Danish newspaper, on one hand, and the lack of a similar response by this community against radicals such as Bin Laden, on the other, serve as evidence that terrorism can be embodied by much more than simply those people who perpetuate the attacks themselves.

i mean't monogamy in the sense of her being the only wife to a single husband.
actually they were, how old do you think alexandria the great was? how old was the marriage age bracket 5 centuries ago
This is not you, Sissie. Men of earlier times did not mature as quickly as that. If am wrong, the onus is on you to table proofs.

These hadith refutes the claims that a 9 yr old at that time was mature for marriage.
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) married her when she was seven years old, and he was taken to his house as a bride when she was nine, and her dolls were with her; and when he (the Holy Prophet) died she was eighteen years old.
Sahih Muslim 8:3311
Narrated 'Aisha: I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the Prophet, and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah's Apostle used to enter (my dwelling place) they used to hide themselves, but the Prophet would call them to join and play with me.
Sahih Bukhari 8:73:151
Only immature persons play with toys.
I believe most people on this thread explained some of the laws, you either understand
or don't, or its not sufficient enough and you go seek further answers.
Apparently unlike Moses' Teacher, their explanation doesn't hold much water. It would be too easy to start pointing their loopholes but it 's not like i haven't talked these things before.
For instance, read their explanation polygamy, utterly one sided and failed to consider that if polygamy was vital to accomodate men 's polygamous nature, then monogamy was equally vital to secure women 's monogamous nature.
Their take on child marriage fell flat. Even in the 7th century, a 9yrs old is a child still too physically, emotionally, mentally or socially immature for marriage or sex.
See, i don't believe these hadiths stories, you are the ones that do and have to raise the banner of "GOD knows why" whenever u meet doubting thomas.
Even pragmatic orthodox muslims know that Bukhari 's report was a fake & Aisha was well beyond 9 before her marriage.
Islam › Re: Gender/family Issues And Islam by usermane(m):
For those invoking Quran 18:60-82, here is my token:
I wonder what would be of the world if Pagans making child sacrifices or the Church embarking on forced conversion played their acts down with "GOD KNOWS BEST, WE ONLY FOLLOW". Please, lets think(Quran 10:100). Moses' story taught that even the most knowledgeable of men know nothing but what he is taught by God and one must avoid jumping to hasty conclusions.
This isn't a lesson that one must shut up and take whatever teachings he heard about God, particularly when these teachings aren't directly from God, the Messenger himself or when one is even reconsidering his faith. If you cannot explain the genuiness of your beliefs to a doubter without resorting to "GOD KNOWS AND WE DONT!", then i say; happy dogmatism. This isn't a questioning of God 's authority. Even The Messenger cleared Moses' doubts, responding to Moses with genuine answers in the end, not asking the latter to leave it for God.
Not that all these concerns me anyway, afterall beyond family/gender issues, there are more controversial issues like apostacy or double standard treatment of non-muslims; within orthodox Islam.

true2god: You seem not to understand the level of hate in Islam, you will soon hear some of them say: 'those hadith are not authentic', 'koran is superior to hadith', 'the Jews wrote some hadith to paint Islam bad', 'the american CIA has corrupted those hadith', 'those hadiths were compiled after the koran', and some other flimsy excuses.
Those are lame excuses. These hadith are from the same corpus they labelled authentic, the same corpus they derived most of their doctrines and their sharia.

The arabs in general hate the christians and the Jews. Iraq muslims have asked all christians to convert or leave Iraq. All their actions are backed up by the hadith and the koran.
Yet in UK, they have the gut to protest for Sharia.

Sahih Bukhari 4:53:392 While we were in the mosque, the Prophet came out and said, "Let us go to the Jews." We went out till we reached Bait-ul-Midras. He said to
them, "If you embrace Islam, you will be safe. You should know
that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle, and I want to expel you from this land. So, if anyone amongst you owns some
property, he is permitted to sell it.
Otherwise, you should know that the Earth belongs to Allah and His
Apostle."
Sahih Muslim 26:5389 The Prophet said: “Do not greet the Jews and the Christians before they greet you and when you meet any one of them on the roads force him to go to the narrowest part of it".
Sahih Muslim Book 37 Hadith 6668
Abu Burda reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: There would come people amongst the Muslims on the Day of Resurrection with as heavy sins as a mountain, and Allah would forgive them and He would place in their stead the Jews and the Christians.

Here are the words of revered orthodox muslims' sages.
Shayk Al Islam Ibn Tamiyyah
Whosoever does not forbid people from the deen of the Jews and Christians after the prophethood of the messenger Muhammad (saw) nor declares them kafir nor hates them, he is not a Muslim by the consensus of all Muslims, their scholars and the general public
.
Ibn Kathir
Allah forbids His believing
servants from having Jews and Christians as friends, because they are the enemies of Islam and its people, may Allah curse them. Allah then states that they are friends of each other and He gives a warning threat to those who do this
Ibn Ishaq
Some Muslims remained friends
with the Jews, so Allah sent down a Qur'an forbidding them to take Jews as friends. From their mouths hatred has already shown itself and what they conceal is worse
Islam › Re: Why Do Muslims Hate Jews? by usermane(m): 7:31am On Jul 22, 2014
OP, hate differ from condemnation. The Quran condemned the Jews in several verses, but even them it didn't genaralise(Qur'an 3:113-115). Infact, the Muslims were commanded to pardon the Jews.
"But on account of their breaking their covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard; they altered the
words from their places and they neglected a portion of what they were reminded of; and you shall always discover treachery in them excepting a few of them; so pardon them and turn away; surely God loves those who do good (to others)."
---Qur'an 5:13
Unfortunately, as orthodox muslims neither understand or rule according to the Quran, going extreme in every matters, this condemnation in the Qur'an was interpreted as hate via hadith fabricated and compiled very long after the Qur'an was revealed. Today, like a religious duty, orthodox muslims hate and blame the Jews for virtually every predicament, including the rottening of their meat!

Knock it off, playing it down by shouting "ALLAAH" when tasked with reconciling your controversial doctrines with morality has also been the way of even disbelievers in ages.
