nne3870: My roomate back in the university had an accident and was rushed to the hospital, the doctors refused to take her into the ward talkless of treating her on the ground that we should get a police report.we kept begging them, She was also crying and begging them due to the severe pains she was feeling. Later on her tommy started getting bigger and after 2hours she died outside the hospital, outside and it was drizzling.
Since then I hated doctors and vowed never to visit an hospital even when am sick.
Imagine refusing to treat a student just because we didn't come with a police report to state she actually had an accident.
Very sorry for this. While reading i nvr though your story would end so badly. The fact that her begging fell on deaf ears really broke me down.
Doctor see patients die frequently. Death is no big deal for them. It sad it happened to a roomate.

This thread is funny,i wanted to laugh cos the man commited suicide in a laughable manner but if i laugh i 'll be dubbed as wicked.
Eating 28 raw eggs in a sitting is reflective of the fact that people can do anything for money. Poverty is the second greatest disease of all time.

ddippset: 4 traumatic events in my life, keeping it simple and short. 1. Witnessing a road accident along kaduna abuja road in 2000.I saw bodies of people with opened up skulls and all the whitish stuff showing. 2.growing up in the northern coast of nigeria in kaduna and witnessing the sharia riots of 2000 and seeing people dismembered and others thrown into wells alive. 3 and 4. Watching clips of the aluu 4 being beaten and burnt alive and clips of boko haram soldiers slitting throats of snitches within their organisations in 2012.
Your traumas are horror filled and horror is something that scares the hell out of me. Watching or witnessing fatal accident, bloody riot and mass massacre is tremendously gory.
As for the Aluu 4 clip, i haven't seen it and to b frank i don't want ruin my holiday mourning and sulking over a bloody video.

Am so much sorry. This is depressing. People could be heartless Liciase. Only one person ambushed, robbed, beaten and ... But man can never escape the backlash of his action. Recovering from that takes God 's intervention.
But like they say... "the show continues". U musn't let it weigh u down, u have to move on.

I have less nightmare, less anxiety, less grief.
The theory is: every disappointment is a blessing or for those who believe in the christian faith every thing work for good for the children of God.
If u embrace this philosophy you will ever be happy.
After all why worry, why dwell on what u can't change?
Brain Tracy said anything that has no solution is not a problem.
You can't bring back a lost loved one, you can't 'unwrite' what someone said or did to you, so why keep it in you diary and allow it to slow you down.
Don't even think about it, don't even talk about it - let it go!

Think on this, change your paradigm and believe that it happened in the best of your interest.

A word from the Coastland.
Thanks coastland, but haven't you got a life story to fill us in with? I mean u 've never felt hurt or downtrodden? What about a friend?

1stToComment: I was 7 years old. I still think I was a happy child then, even with the fact I was not my dad's favourite child and he did everything possible to show it, I was still happy. I remember clearly then when myself and my siblings all fell ill during my mum's absence. I developed symptoms before the others and was ignored until the others took ill too. They were taken to the hospital immediately and I was left at home. My little kid brother had to share his medication with me secretly to make me feel better.

The others had lovely pet names but I was named given horrible nick-names by my dad. As a little child I could not understand why I was hated so much. I remember my mum challenging my dad about it after it became unbearable for her, but there was little she could do and I was left to my fate. I did not get presents or toys from him like the others did and I guess I spent more time studying as an escape. I did brilliantly in my academics and was tops in my class. I remember once at the end of the term, how I wailed on my way home after I got my report card. I thought I was 18th best in class not knowing it was 1st as the teachers 's' seemed like an '8'. I thought my dad would kill me. I dared not give him my report card and rather gave my little brother to pass it on when he started shouting for it. I got the shock of my life! He shook my hand and that was the closest display of "affection" I ever got from him.

I got blamed by my dad for anything that went wrong so long as I was present when it happened and after a while my siblings began to have the same belief and scream my name when they hurt themselves.

The worst that ever happened to me was while I was playing close to my sister and she tripped, fell and lost four teeth. She screamed my name, just because I was present and I before I could say Robinson, my father was upon me.

It started with Punches and kicks. His only words were " I will kill you today" My poor helpless mother quickly asked what was wrong and he told her I beat my sister and broke 4 permanent teeth. I could see her turn white. I must have lost and regained conciousness about 2 times and wet myself. My poor mother quickly ran to get a cane to stop the blows, but she could not find any. Unfortunately in her hurry, she came back with a stick that was laden with thorns.

He used it until it was no more. At this time, I was no longer screaming with pain. I was too weak to cry. I could see the sadness in the eyes of my siblings and looked on to them with a little strand of hope in my eyes that they will save me. They could not and I thought I was dying.I could not move afterwards and my mum had to get me treated for multiple injuries.

A week later I was able to go to school but the wounds still looked fresh. My teacher noticed and I was taken to the headmaster's office to explain how I came about the wounds. I told them it was my dad and they stared in disbelief. A teacher volunteered to call the police but another teacher told them I must have done something horrible to get that kind of beating and that they should let the matter go away. They kept asking if I was sure it was my dad who gave me those injuries. They promised to send someone to my home to get the other side of the story but never did.

I still carry some of those scars on my body after 35 years as well as the psychological scars, I grew up to hate my family so much. I remember weeping profusely when I watched the first part of the "Aluu4" murder video before they were finally killed. I was crying because I could imagine what those boys were going through. I was crying for a little boy. I was crying for me.
A happy childhood is a gift. You missed out on that but glad to know u overcame the whole trouble growing up with a stepfather. I believe u 've forgiven him and moved on evn if the scars won't let u forget.
I felt so sad about your spanking story most especially cos it was an undeserved punishment. It reminded me of my primary one days when i always got flogged by the teacher cos the class monitress hated me and constantly put my name in her noise makers' list, me being a wild card.
I used to cry to the teacher of my innocence but he continued to judge me by my past misdeeds disbelieving that i have changed my spots. My poor academic performance only fueled his hatred for me.

mystiqueem: Gold Diggershuh She be miner? Lol!

On a serious note: lets cast our minds back to the past when women only love for LOVE.
1. She suffers through hardship with him
2. Prays and fast daily for God Almighty to help him find his feet.
3. Sometimes do unmentionable things 'so he can eat, cloth and have transport fare for occasional running around'
4. Gets beaten by him but takes it as frustration
5. Even rebukes her family for telling her to move on and so on

When he lands a contract or a good paying job [probably thru her connections]. How does she get repaid?

She's treated with disrespect and cast aside... replaced with a fresh, younger looking babe!

Truth is guys don't like to be reminded of their past failures...
So they leave the ones that knows the truth about their wealth and
Pick new people that worships them because of it!

Ladies learned from her ancestress mistakes and swore NEVER AGAIN!
.... that's what guys call GOLD DIGGING _ Today! grin

MEN ARE TO BLAME!
I agree with your points 'some' men are at fault but how can you condone gold digging cos the men caused it thereby condemning love for love as a result. Forgive and forget how your ancestress were treated in the past, all men aren't the same.
There is no such thing as free lunch, gold diggers eventually learn this, only that its no use crying over spilt milk.

So far no one have mentioned heartbreak or rejection,i thought every day on this forum people complain of getting their heart ripped out and smashed into their face by their lover or ex.
A friend of mine was in that situation. His girlfriend travelled and returned back with a new boyfriend, dropping the bombshell for him that it was over. My friend couldn't get over the fact that he 'd bn dumped and before i knew it the heartbreak had begun to take it toll on him.
He started acting wierd; speaking to himself, wearing one shirt for almost a fortnight, fixing things that aren't broken and ignoring everyone.
When i looked at my friend, i couldn't help but feel so sorry for him. He was a very friendly, outgoing lad,fun to be with but see what a common heart break have turned him into.
No matter how stable u think of yourself, every person is only one traumatic event away from demoralisation... quite sad
I wish you guys will read the whole thing before you comment. I said some... and that it was increasing. I didn't say all. The problem here is, it is becoming an epidemic and would continue to increase if something doesn't change it may even become a norm. Like any other the thing it can become a culture as it continues to grow and it would be harder and harder to find guy who don't flaunt their wealth and girls who don't gold dig.
The tip of the iceberg is men aren't looking for the nice girl, they are looking out soley for beauty. A lot of men are so superficial that they value looks far above manners on their scale of preference. And since a lot of men are after just one beautiful girl at a time, each man tend to see his wealth as an ace in hole to lure the lady to him. Hence the girl is surrounded by gold mines and have no choice but to dig and mine from the largest mine deposit.
In short, unless we guys become less superficial we might just have to endure the gold diggers.

Royal Roy: Yes I felt super surprised she called me that, just because of an argument. I don't know something about that word bastard I just find it too offensive and traumatic to call someone or be called such.

My next traumatic experience was when I was growing up in the secondary school. I had a school son in the hostel who was always tagging along with me to town....which was illegal....and through the fence. It so happened that after I had left the school, about 4yrs later when he was just in SS 1, he was shot by night guards outside the school fence who assumed he was a thief for climbing a fence at night!! His legs are not equal till today. Each time I see him with his limp, I feel terrible, cos I believed I taught him how to steal out of school to buy some nonsense food in town. Now I always try avoiding him. So painful.
Oow, that was indeed very tragic and i know its something u can hardly make up for him. U dragged him into his current state and even though he hold nothing against u,you can hardly forgive yourself for his misfortune.

moonbaby: I have three if I'm permitted cheesy

The first one, when I was about 10yrs of age, my mom was tidying up the house so she had loads of papers to burn. She was already burning some garbage at our backyard so I thought. I should help my mom out o, I carried the bin full of papers and headed towards our backyard. My two little sisters decided to follow me. On getting to where the fire was burning, I poured all the papers on the fire, instead of us to go back upstairs jejenly grin one of my little sister saw a can of raid and we thought it would be nice to burn it.

Oh boy, as my sister threw the raid can in the fire, we didn't know what to expect so I and my immediate sister stood right beside the fire, the little one that threw the can bent near the fire watching excitedly. The next minute we heard a very loud b.ang, the fire went all over the place and all I saw was my little sister rubbing her belly. My mom quickly rushed downstairs and grabbed her, put her inside cold water. There were already loads of people from houses away in our house as they didn't know what caused the loud b.ang.

I and my immediate sister were very lucky but my little sister suffered the most as after 30minutes of getting over the shock I saw my little sister's belly all roasted. My mom quickly rushed her to the hospital after treating her at home. Till date she still has that skin discolouration sad

It's not obvious to see but if you really stare at her belly people can see her skin colour is not even.

The second event, I was 15yrs of age, my mom came from abroad to take I and my siblings with her to the UK. My uncle had already finished our passport application so all the embassy wanted was for my mom to appear in person to be interviewed before releasing the passports.

So my mom, my big huge uncle, his wife and myself all went to the embassy. We decided not to take our car that day. After getting all the passports and the necessary documents, we were all excited. We took a bus, on the way the bus developed fault and everybody had to get off and find other means of transportation. This area was very quiet with bushes on both right and left side of the road.

We started walking quickly in order to get to the next available bus stop. My uncle's wife then sad she wants to pee, my uncle said not in this area that it's very dangerous. But she insisted, she was carrying ghana must go bag in her arm with some of our documents. As she was peeing, I saw a guy jumping in the bush so I alerted my mom and uncle. By the time we were ready to start going, 1 guy came out from the bush with knife in his hand, the guy attacked my uncle's wife coz of the big bag she was carrying, he used the knife to tear apart the ghana must go bag and all our passports and documents went flying on the road, my uncle went after this guy took him up and slammed him on the floor. The guy ran into the bush.

As my uncle's wife was still shouting, my mom quickly ran after all the documents, gathered them together and this second guy came to my mom after realising there isn't any money in the bag my uncle's wife was carrying. As this guy attacked my mom's handbag, my mom sat on our documents while trying to fight this guy off her hang bag. The main passports were in my mom's hand bag. The guy knew my mom wasn't letting go of her bag so he started using knife to cut the handbag handle not knowing he was cutting my mom's finger at the same time but oh no my mom refused to let go o..that's when my uncle came on to the back of this guy, slammed him on the floor also and he ran into the bush.

We helped my mom up with her clothes in blood and we decided to start running. Fortunately a car came along and gave us lift to the nearest bus stop. On getting home, everybody at home were shocked. I remembered one of my uncles saying mummy, dont ever do that again o attacking thieves like that, then my mom replied him saying, you want me to let go of my children's documents no way....awwww I love her... kiss she was then taken to the hospital that night to stitch her finger cry.....

Final one was when I lost my dad, it was a painful experience as our mom was abroad then and we were small then cry..we all had to move in with our uncle then before our mom came to take everyone one of us to UK....I still wish he is here with us today now that my wedding is near cry cry cry
Quite unfortunate. I thought only batteries explode on fire but today i 've learnt from your xperience that insecticide do.
Also my mom don't allow us taking much liquid prior or during a journey cos stopping to urinate is risky especially when u stop on xpressway, just in case out of luck, better to be safe than sorry,it might just not be your day.
Am sorry for your dad 's departure and congrats for getting ready to tie the knot

Mine is breaking my foot. It was a real sad day for me. This was in campus hostel. One night i was awaken from a dream by students screaming 'fire!,fire!! everybody run!!!' and unconsciously i,jumped out of bed, unlocked the door, dashed out of the room. My room was on the first floor and not minding the staircase farther away, i like other students due to adrenaline rush jumped directly to the ground from the first floor.
But unfortunately, i didn't land well, i landed poorly on my right foot and having just woken up from such a deep sleep, an energy depraved body couldn't withstand having its whole weight thrown on a single foot.
My right foot gave up immediately, slipped and i came crashing down, slamming my back onto the ground with a thud.
For a moment, perhaps for the first time ever i felt paralysed, engulfed in an intense extruciating pain all over my body. My waist twisted, nearly snapped and my foot was broken. I was motionless and dumb for a few minutes, lying still on the ground as guys rush forward to inspect me.
I managed to sit up after a while and was later helped to the sick bay cos i couldn't walk.
I admit i commited a huge blunder of not looking b4 i lept that night and beside enduring pain for a whole week with only one useful foot and lying in bed filled with grief and regret for my carelessness i had to go through the whole misery all alone as i could tell no one my terrible predicament.

A traumatic event involves a single experience or repeating events that totally overwhelm the individual ability to cope with the circumstance. An experience or trauma that left you feeling hurt, demoralised or depressed perhaps even altering your perception of life and humanity.
The trauma could be physical such as an injury, illness or immense pain resulting from domestic or vehicle accident.
Or the trauma could be psychological/emotional such as undergoing a very scary/horror/frightening ordeal, being victim of sexual abuse, child abuse, verbal abuse, domestic violence, bullying, witnessing loss of a valuable property or a loved one either through death, betrayal or heartbreak.
Some of these trauma leave marks in us that make be difficult to forget resulting to flashbacks, nightmares or hallucinations. They might lower our esteem, make us paranoid, cynical and pessimistic.
