Yes i can. Just ensure u don't judge or accuse her, let her know the adverse effect. Do it when u have spent much time getting to know her
Dont mind those saying otherwise 'we all know there r alternate means of earning a living as long as u r ready to think. Lot of lovepeddlers choose lovepeddling it cos its a faster and cheaper means'.
Romance › Re: At What Age Did Have Your First Crush by usermane(m): 1:04pm On Jan 10, 2013
At the age of 16 in the same SS2 class. Had a nice friend that spend quality time with me taking maths tutorial. She treated me well just as if she cared. Inspite of all this i couldn't bring myself forward to admit my feelings cos i thought i meant no more than a tutor or at best, a friend. The presence of her boyfriend in the same class only added to my constraints.
Looking back now just few years after graduating, i reach d realisation that there were signs then that she could be interested only at that time i was too blind to read them.
This crush has really stood the test of time,it still very alive and i can feel it. Probably she might have felt d same for me then but certainly now,she must have given up and moved on,tired of waiting for me to open up.

Being a bad guy might stake out few masculine attributes in u and get u girls but in the end u will lose and whether u detect ur loss or did not,"EVIL NEVER PAYS".
When people like OP say nice guys are doormat, cheap, too easy as pie to deal with, i smile cos they clarify their minute take on the word 'NICE'. Being nice doesn't mean a doormat, low esteem, boring. It mean treating people with respect, politeness, consideration and doing what is morally right. A lot of bad guys r depraved of the above qualities and that won't change cos it is getting them girls. Well congratulations Mr. Bad guy, u 've been sowing the Wind, but ready one day the time would be right for u 2 reap the Whirlwind.
Being a nice alone isnt attractive, that is were boredom crops up. Try being organised, interesting, dynamic, add more elements and substance to your lifestyle and personality. And sure your best bet would the nice girls that know what love is and value your attitude rather than preety girls that prefer the toughened, heartless, rebelious, angst ridden, vengeful Bad guys.

sanb: This is the 21st century; and the earlier we ladies wake up and smell the coffee, the better!!! There's nothing wrong in a lady approaching a guy. It's not as if the lady would just ask the guy "can I date you". There are things that she'll say to him in a subtle way that'll give the green light; hence nothing inappropriate there....

It's sad that some ladies think that their self-respect will be lost cos she told the guy how she feels. It seems as if some ladies would rather suffer in silence than take this approach all in the name of it's the guy that should do this and not me!!!
Solid points. Good to know this is coming from a lady.

Very appropiate by me. But hmm, very, very hard to find such a generous lady. They are really scarce as most ladies are
1. too scared to approach or fear rejection.
2. too stuck in the ancient past belief that it has to begin from the guy.
3. scared she 'll be taken for a ride.
If she will approach me, i prefer a little friendship first so as to get to know her below the surface.
If i like her, then, no games, i will say Yes. And that would be a special girl to hold on to, don't u think?
If i dont like her, then i give a polite No. Her secret is safe with me,i don't run telling the world about it, i respect her privacy. She s' done something a lot of girls wrongfully believe would lower their esteem. That deserve gratitude and approval not ingratitude and betrayal.

Nairaland General › Re: Why Do People Commit Suicide? by usermane(m): 1:49pm On Jan 04, 2013
So many reasons.
1.FRUSTRATION Some commit suicide out of frustration e.g Poverty, diseases. The feeling getting closer to your goals but constantly failing to reach them. Life hasn't be fair evn one bit for them. They feel they 've worked hard, they 've prayed. Why would their trouble nvr cease, why can't they be as happy as everybody else? why would prayer and hardwork be crowned with faliure?. They have a lot of problems, every solution they 've taken from others nvr solve their problems permanently or evn worsened their plight. To them the night isn't darkest before the dawn atleast not for them, they don't want to believe they 'll ever meet the dawn.
2. GUILT and SHAME This happens when they 've done something regretable or cant meet up with what is demanded of them. The feeling of being a disgrace, feeling of being responsible for another person 's hell. They feel they 've got their hand so dirty that there is no hope for redemption or second chance. Everyone is disappointed in them, blunder or no blunder no one would ever judge them as innocent. They can't live with the shame or guilt as these memories won't fade, but continue to haunt them.

FEAR AND PRESSURE
People could commit suicide out of fear imminent danger. Especially when convinced they is no escape, it could be tempting to grant oneself a quick, easy death rather than fighting a losing battle that may only yield a slow torturous death.
People could commit suicide rather than do something against their wish e.g A lady commiting suicide cos her family is forcing her into marriage.

TV/Movies › Re: Do Nigerians Really Know 'good' Movies? by usermane(m): 10:25am On Jan 03, 2013
VillageBoi: Seriously? Go and watch the first film all big HOLLYWOOD names made, 90% are pure unadultrated rubbish. Even the most recent guy in the cinemas now - Peter Jackson - see his first feature called Bad Taste... it's a common less-than-Nollywood-Yeye-Home-Video. Yet the same guy is busting out mega films like Lord of The Rings & The Hobbit in a shyte country where the national pastime is leaving their wife to have an affair with Dolly-the-sheep in the field and you come dey yab Nollywood. Hissssss.

I beg Nollywood forever, it's gonna grow well, well. It's all about 'positive' growth.
My bone of contention isn't criticism of nollywood per say. Yes they make poor movies often below par and i can understand that.
Don't you see it villageboi, we are still so underdeveloped, primitive and narrow minded to get nollywood off the ground. We are so boring and old fashioned that producing or warmly receiving a good movie is like getting milk from stone to us.
Lets be honest, the films Americans regard as poor are far better than plenty nollywood. You know why? I hate to say this but,it is because their expectation is higher than ours. Hollywood makes poor movies sometimes, nollywood can't for one second compare it with their movies.
The only thing nollywood can presently improve is the movie plot and story and that might not translate well since we are short of good locations for shooting scenes. We need intelligent script writters that would add new elements and unpredictability to the story instead of sexuality, black magic, and religion all the time.
Have you watched The Dark Knight? Ooow i really love the story of that film, the character development and interactions just take the cake for me.

They need to remember a gold digger is an object. You must get it at a good good price, minimize matinence costs, and especially you must know when to get rid of it cheesy
A lady isn't a good but what she has to offer or the qualities drawing men to her could be termed as goods

Islam › Re: Are Women in the West Happy? Pt 1 by usermane(m): 6:56pm On Jan 02, 2013
Uuh uuh, hmmm. I wonder what u 2 are arguing here. Firstly, what is an hijab? There is misconception on definition of hijab. No where in the Qur'an/Hadith was the hijab described or pictured as the triangular tent-like dress muslim women put on today.
I am not saying the triangular dress is not an hijab,am saying you cant term it the sole definition of hijab. We have to know two things, hijab is a collective noun. Hijab is not a uniform, hijab is a dress code. A lady musn't be putting on that triangular dress b4 she knows she is in hijab. The main definition of the hijab are 3 in one :
Conceals the skin/hair
Conceals the shape
Transluscent/Opaqe.
Whatever dress a lady puts on, as long as it satisfies these 3 conditions,it is Hijab and for your information, there are lots of such dresses out there. Islam is a considerate religion, if the triangular dress(commonly called hijab),is inconvienent for u there are other options.
Secondly, the topic of this thread is : are women in the west happy?
Here is my take.....Women whether in the West or East can't generally be said to be happy. There are lots of aspects to examine b4 we reach conclusion. There are issues they are happy with and issues they are unhappy with. Hence Mr Op musn't expect Yes/No answer cos he didn't ask a Yes/No question.

TV/Movies › Re: Do Nigerians Really Know 'good' Movies? by usermane(m): 8:46am On Jan 02, 2013
When i finished reading this thread, i was like "Billions of Blue Blistering Barnacles".
How can a very underdeveloped country like Nigeria dream of producing a Good movie?, how can Nollywood claim to be 3rd best movie industry when they continue producing the same movie over and over with different title. What a pity. America is an developed state they have the resources whether human, labour or capital to release good movies of various genres, not some fairly rehearsed secondary school drama my nigerians are wasting their meagre allowance to watch every blessed day.
2ndly, Nigerians don't know a good movie because we r 2 boring. Years and years of eating unpalatable dish has made it become palatable and favourite for us. I nvr watch nollywood, i admit some have good plot but u can hardly find one with good story. A plot is just the summary of the activities, but the story entails more, the character developments, character interactions make up the story. No matter how good the plot is, the film is poor without an outstanding story. And one question, Guys why are most Nollywood movie art cover contains scantly clothed ladies?,why must sexuality be a theme of every nollywood movie, is it to attract market?. Evn Hollywood and Bollywood romance movies have a decent art cover. Quite gross cos it further potrays actresses as sex symbols and ladies as sex objects.
Finally Nigerians are boring, very boring indeed. The only form of entertaiment they know is clubbing, partying, drinking, wasting days and nights under a shed to watch europe leagues matches. Guess what all these have in common. They r cheap and poorly educating. These what an average Nigerian term as entertaiment. For an average American, it is more. There are cartoons(yes, ones that beat nollywood movies),comic books, video games, cinemas, live football, basketball, wrestling matches to watch, lots of sports centres, beaches to go and have fun and lot more. These are interesting, educating and self comforting.

vladimiros: For Those that say they have not felt anything.

-HAVE YOU NOT BEEN AROUND TO SEE YOUR AIRPORTS ALL GET AN UPGRADE, WHICH NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BEFORE JONAH CARED ABOUT YOUR AIRPORT UPKEEP?

-HAVE YOU NOT BEEN AROUND TO SEE UR ELECTRICITY GET PRODUCED TO 4500MW, JONAH INHERITED LESS THAN 2000MW

- HAVE YOU NOT BEEN AROUND TO SEE THE RAILWAY INDUSTRY REVIVED, FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS, WE NIGERIANS HAD NO DAMN RAILWAY

- WHERE YOU NOT AROUND DURING THE OLYMPICS WHEN JONAH WENT BY HIMSELF WITH ALISON MADWEKE TO SEARCH FOR INVESTORS IN LONDON FOR NIGERIA, WHICH NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT CARED ABOUT THAT?

- HAVE YOU NOT BEEN AOUND TO SEE THE WORK THAT IS BEING DONE TO DREGDE OUR RIVERS TO REDUCE THE WORK LOAD ON OUR ROADS AND IMPROVE COASTAL TOWNS? WHICH NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT CARED ABOUT THAT BEFORE?

- HAVE YOU NOT SEEN YOUR STOCK EXCHANGE GO UP 35%, ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD.? HAVE YOU NOT?
AND FINALLY I WOLD WARN YOU THAT JONAH HAS BEEN ONE YEAR IN OFFICE, NIGERIA IS DIFFICULT BUT STELY WE ARE GETTING THERE AMEN
Why are you supporting him so much?. It is only electricity that has improved still there is room for improvement in that aspect, much room.
Dredging of the rivers??, read this carefully, i travelled along the river niger from time to time, the place is deserted, their dredging machines and pipes are broken.
The rest achievements are ok, as long as they are true but they aren't really what we clamour for presently. The stock exchange, airport, raillines(far from completion) aren't really what an average Nigerian can access.
I agree, it maybe too early for an examination as he only removed the subsidy last year. But he has been in office since 2010, hasn't he

Hmm u are right kavey10, people can be very wicked.
However, sometimes our calamities are born out of Retaliation. When people feel offended, they want to settle scores by all means not so that they can get back what they lost, but to make them feel better. This is the cause of Retaliation.
2 yrs ago,we were in campus, standing in front of our hostel one afternoon when all of sudden a guy threw acid on a girl s' face. She let out a loud scream in pain and within seconds, her attacker was no where to be found. Her face was disfigured, totally an eyesore and neither the school sickbay nor the teaching hospital could save her from passing on after a few weeks. I was like 'God,he has ruined her life forever, how dare he do such an awful thing'.
I tried talking with my roomate who told me he learnt the girl was the attacker(graduate) 's fiance(undergraduate) but she coldly broke his heart and he refused to let her go free. My roomate wasn't really bothered,he didn't feel any sorry for her. He beleived she must have really got under her attacker 's skin. With time the truth surfaced-the attacker contacted HIV from his ex-fiance(victim) who concealed the truth of her HIV status from him.
While being a traumatic tale, the trauma wasn't born out of wickedness. Retaliation is the driving force of the traumatic event. The attacker knew spilling acid at his offender 's face would'nt rid him of the viral infection, but he went ahead pulling the trigger anyway. WHY?,cos it helped him feel better,it lightened his heavy heart. It is Retaliation-Product of Anger mixed with passion.

cigar icon: Actually I wanted to keep this to myself but I just felt I should let it out. Sometimes I just wonder how some pple could pay back good for evil.
I remembered back then in lafia what I experienced that made me promise myself that I will never associate myself with a girl(although I have broken dat promise) I I was 16 tjen and dat was when nokia xpress music was reigning and I recently got one from my cousine (he has been lyk a blood broda to me). There was this girl whose house was close to ours so we were lyk neighbours. She saw the phone as I was flaunting it and begged me for an exchange with her 'I love' chinese phone, I reluctently agreed after much pleading from her so we agreed to use each others phone for a week. Our agreed day came for us to return our phone but she said mine droped from her hand and the screen cracked and its at the repaires place. I was very sad cos I bought dat phone for 17k as at dat time. I was never used to making ppl damage my property so I just told her to collect it from the repairer's place and give it to me like dat but she said how could she collect it when the repairer has already started working on it. I became worried and regreted why I fell for this poo in the first place.
Three weeks past and I was missing my phone so much so out of anger I went to her house hoping to report to her parents but unfortunately they were not in. We were in their palour and her brother was outside and this was the conversation that followed
Rita: I've told u when ur phone is done I will return it to you
Sam: but its over two weeks now
Rita: do u expect it to be repaired over night
Sam: but when I gave it to u it was in good shape (by this time I was furious)
Rita: so u want to fight me ba, (she started screaming, pulls up her skirt and also her blouse). Realising what was tgoing to come out of this I started begging, telling her not to do this and trying to pull down blouse (big mistake) instead she screamed even louder and before I could say joxer her younger broda who was outside rushed in and were shocked, one hausa elderly man just came towards me saying 'lahila a ilalahu' and b4 I could say tom I was landed a big blow on my mouth, the blow was so hard that I fell hitting my jaw on the arm of a cushion. They took me out, beat me untill I bleed all over, it was at this time that her parents came back and where shocked to see me mobbed in the front of their house, her father attempted to rescue me but when told what had happened was furious and joined in the beating, after it seemed as if he was done he told every body not to touch me and went into the house, I was just on the floor my cloth badlu stained with blood, I was just just thinking if this ppl will kill me there or I was going to end up in jail, regreting why I fell for this, wondering what had happened to my phone dat made rita treat me like this. All this I was thinking before he dashed out of the house with the big sized needle, he asked for me to be striped naked and for pple to hold me on both legs and hands. Me still not sure of what he was going to do to me kept screaming and struggling with my waist. He held my joystick and inserted the blunt side of the needle in its hole. I wailed to the extent that I lost my voice cos the pain was terrible he removed it and inserted it again saying "this is what ppl like u deserve". Hmmm frnds to cut the long story short I was taken back home and after my father heared what had happened all he could say was that he was so disapointed in me. I remember suffering severe pains. For days after I went to the hospital, whenever I wanted to urinate I had to go through pains and blood came with my urine. I just thank God that I was well again after about a month or so.though I was innocent but after then whenever I heared about someone being raped or child molestation I just remember this experience and tears drop from my eye. the worst is that uptil today nobody believed that I never intended to molest rita, not even my dad exept my cousine who gave me the phone. I learnt that she is now in the UK but I knw karma is waiting for her somewhere.
Sorry, but shouldn't the girl have intervene? why would she allow it to get overboard? Can person be so cruel and sadistic?
That was very dark and gritty, adding salt on sores was evn ur parent disbeleived the truth. I hope u forget and possibly forgive her
