Yoruba and magical thinking, are like 5&6!
yes you are right, but I will replace magical with spiritually, the spiritual controls the physical, if things are wrong in the spiritual and you are trying to work it out in the physical without tackling the spiritual first you will just be wasting your time, an occupant of aso rock for who lived there for several years in the person of Reuben Abati has given us his insight into how things are there but many people here instead of employing their thinking faculty are expressing biased opinion, if our presidents continue to live in possessed Aso rock, you cannot expect this country to make much progress, it will affect everyone and I don't think Reuben Abati has an ulterior motive to lie, we should be thinking of the way forward now.

Lol.....wishes are different from reality. You think if I could 'wish', Nigeria won't be a better country? Going by your wishes, it's freaking 2017 & yet a simple thing as us having steady electricity still feels like rocket science. Do you not provide light for yourself by buying fuel in your generator? Is that what you should be doing if things were working right in the country? NO! but you & millions of Nigerians are doing it & have taken it to be normal.
Do you have good health care services? Even if you have, millions of the population don't & everyone's living like it's normal...cos it has become normal & the earth has not fallen.
The Paris climate accord signed by several countries in 2015, serious countries have ways to regulate their carbon emissions & test vehicles for these emissions with a target year to have a target percentage achieved. Nigeria is a signatory (lip-service) to that accord & nothing serious is being done on ground & it's all normal & even YOU are living without a care of it cos the environment has made it normal.
Now, you're coming to tell me ' if I don't have an idea of what's being discussed' I should forget it. grin
20 years from now, if you're still in this country, I can guarantee you that you'd still be driving a petrol-run car & the heavens won't fall. You know why? The environment would see it as normal.
I repeat, be realistic!

A country like the U.S. for instance, even folks in their 20s have probably never seen a manual-transmission car talk less of driving it yet there are still manual-transmission vehicles all over Nigeria today in great numbers. You know why? Countries like U.S. discarded those cars & Nigerians embraced them. That's exactly how its going to be for a long time till we realize we're ' carrying' last.

So stop acting like in 8 years time, Nigeria will be shut down cos western & Asian countries will stop making petrol-run cars. It's a cycle we've seen over & over before & nothing will change until we change ourselves, our environment & our thinking. Till then, my friend....I've told you that the heavens will not fall in 8 years time cos Nigerians have built a 'cycle of norm'. Be realistic!
I think what the guy is trying to tell you in simple English is that the demand for our crude oil will drop to almost zero because our customers buying the oil I. e the developed nations will be using electric cars, hydrogen powered cars and biofuel cars and since Nigeria rely heavily on the income from crude oil export it will affect our economy, the only good thing is that fuel will be very cheap in Nigeria since nobody is buying from us again so those cars you said will be imported to Nigeria will enjoy cheap fuel and petrol cars will be cheap too as its being phased out.
actually I think it's a welcome development because when I was in university I remember an economic course I took structure of Nigeria economy, we were taught that Nigeria is backward partly because of the discovery of crude oil as most countries with crude oil always are underdeveloped because they rely on crude oil and ignore developing other area of the economy.
Celebrities › Re: Bimbo Akintola Cries Out Over Poor State Of Roads In Ibadan [VIDEO+PICS] by vannessa7(f): 7:02pm On Jun 30, 2017
there is no city in this Nigeria that has all its side street paved and tarred, even developed countries have some untarred road when you get to the country side, I have lived in Ibadan and I can say Ibadan has a lot of good roads, it's not worth it arguing with people here making hate speeches as if their hatred will make them rich or reduce Ibadan from what it is, brown roof is an evidence of ancient civilizations as nobody sell brown roof in the market and you don't need to change it if it's not leaking , if your town has only white roof it only prove that you just discover roofing and you were either brought up in thatched roof mud houses or in the forest, we are actually proud of our brown roof and tribal marks which also indicate a people proud of their heritage and proud to be identified as who they are especially during the era of inter tribal war and slave trade, you are able to trace your way back home and you are able to recognize each other if in a strange land. all other arguments neither holds water nor have any effect what so ever. instead of arguing you can visit Ibadan for yourself and see.

AntiIslam59:
You that is very smart why are your still enslaved to this backward clothing that is told them as if that is the only way to please God. Must women be degraded and made to wear heat absorbing fabric just to cover themselves. Is that the only way to cover yourself. Bunch of ignorant and backward fellows. Very soon they will try and impose their medieval ways on the rest of us.
actually you are crying more than the bereaved, it is an injunction from Allah to dress that way, and Allah means God in Arabic language just like every ethnicity on earth have their own name for God and in our heart when we call Allah we mean the maker of the universe, I know many Christians think Allah is not God this my explanation, I have read the Bible through and so also any genuine Muslim, because the Quran is a continuation of the Bible and refer to many stories in the Bible, I want to challenge every Christian to pick up the English Quran and read, stop making assumptions and just find out what the difference is, the Quran is however filled with verses upon verses where Allah warned against polytheism that is serving another god with Him,the Quran says on the day of judgement Allah will ask Jesus and Mary if they told people to worship them as god, they will say no, then those people worshipping them will be thrown in hell, the Quran says Jesus was born of Virgin Mary as a sign and to lead people back to God and not to make Jesus God, it's like Abraham worshipping the ram God provided to replace Isaac instead of worshipping God, the Lords prayer given by Jesus clearly directed prayers to God and all Jesus teachings, but apostle Paul came with another doctrine different from what Jesus laid down and that is why getting God in Christianity is an herculean task at times, people dying and being destroyed despite their faith, old things like ancestral curses and witches gain more power if you have their problems before, you now wonder if Deuteronomy 28 is a lie, and if God really answers prayers, the more a church enthrone God, Allah instead of Jesus the more power and anointing , e. g pastor Adeboye at rccg camp, he recognized this and only pray to God, Jesus is a Muslim because anyone that serve only Allah maker of the universe is already in Islam, so also is Abraham, the Quran says so, I just converted to Islam and I'm enjoying the peace, I'm off to jumat, salam.

you must be high on a local brand of weed for saying Edo is part of yoruba... Yoruba is part of Edo because Ododowa, your spirtual head was an Edo prince who escaped from Benin to Ife.
even a nitwit will realise that the branch is from the trunk and can never be as big as the trunk, so Yoruba is from a tribe that is less than a state? and that prince forgot his language? because Yoruba language all have common ground whereby we understand each other and even have a common language, I served in Benin and I witness how part of our tradition is mixed with Edo tradition while no tradition or language of edo is in Yoruba in any form, if Yoruba originated from Benin we will reflect Benin tradition and language and not the other way round, I did Yoruba in my secondary school and the history says Yoruba migrated from mecca area but there are rumour that oduduwa came from heaven, but we all know he had 9sons each of which established a town the name of their king or town are the names of those sons, ijebu was ajebu, obokun was from ijesha land, etc, even the white men studying Yoruba will never tell you Yoruba came from Benin, go and study your history well. the book ovoranmwen nogbaisi shed more light on this issue, try and get it, the Benin kingdom was actually paying tribute to oyo empire then, what makes up Yoruba is deeper than meet the eye, even the ifa alone is an institution to be studied not to talk of oranmiyan, etc, thank God for white man religion we now serve our maker. Yoruba is a major course of study in higher institutions all over the world, internet should encourage us to study more in order to make intelligent contribution.

Contradictory stories about Evans all over. Journalists who haven't delivered any tangible news all these while are feasting on Evans to cook up stories. I can bet you Evans is not saying all these.

The other time it was he had a herbalist who collected 10% of the ransom in exchange for charms and accurate premonitions else he'd be caught. Now he doesn't use charms of any kind , just intuition he'd developed
over the years. Who is fooling who really?

There are half-baked journalists all over the world but I think we have quarter-baked journalists right here in Nigeria.

Awon fake news peddlers...Mtchew

My own is, try Evans speedily, convict him and execute him publicly....so simple.
there is nowhere in that write up where he claimed he doesn't use charms, there are always many factors contributing to an issue, read it again

is it only me that think Nairaland has some serious psychopaths, it's only in Nairaland you see comments that are clearly abnormal to the topic at hand, people making biased comments just because the subject is or is not their tribe, religion or gender, many of them claim to be Christian but have refused to keep God in their conscience in their dealings with other humans, they fail to realise that every act is a seed being planted and you are bound to reap it in a hundred fold and also your generation yet unborn.

As much as I condemned Evans and kidnapping, I condemn this bill from sociology perspective. When do we start jailing those who loot our national wealth. Where's the law for white collar stealing and corporate thieves. What's the difference between Evans and Gov. Ambode? I missed a great Nigerian prophet, Fela Anikulapo. When Ambode leaves office now, we will start to hear his looting stories. What's the difference between Nigerian leaders that are stealing billions of naira and sending many Nigerians down the grave ironically. It's high time we asked our leaders, What is crime? Who's a criminal?
so Evans should be set free? is that what you are advocating? and for all those saying the law will not apply to Evans, that is not true because that law has been passed long before Evans was arrested, I read the news then and I was even telling someone about it. you can google it, far be it from me to defend a criminal , what makes us human and not wild animals is the ability to recognize good from evil, anyone rooting for Evans should begin to question his/her humanity, failed parenting is the reason people have no morality or fear of God. smh

I am really loving this, because any northerner who has been aware and been following the continuous barrage of Igbo insults and hateful speeches would have by now been fed up and equally feeling the same kind of resentment towards the Igbos.
The feeling among most northerners now is good riddance to bad rubbish; Igbos or anyone who wants to join them should also go; there is a limit to tolerance and Igbos have pushed northerners to that limit.
Let all Igbos therefore converge in the East and conduct their referendum - but as for me; they shouldn't be allowed back whether they decide to stay or not.
You know I'm just thinking thank God most Hausa youths don't speak English or browse the net in English like this, if not it would have been another story entirely if they have to read what a typical igbo youth says about them and president Buhari online everyday, they are not as thick skinned as we westerners, this nation would have witness a blood bath like never before. but some of them are beginning to sense it, all it will take is one person shouting for war and all other arewa youth will join, God forbid.

@ vannessa7, God remains faithful. You said you suffered in Xristianity? How come?
like I said I'm not advocating any religion here, I still believe Christianity is good but not for me, sometimes when I sit down and remember how I suffered in Christianity I feel like crying non stop, serving God is a personal thing not a bandwagon thing, I find out things I used to suffer like witchcraft attack, foundation idol harassment, spirit husband, familiar spirit, incessant evil dreams are a thing of the past, they don't exist in Islam, I cannot begin to outline them all here but a heart full of love for your maker and willingness to follow divine leading is all God need from us not what seems like a good idea, our maker knows what befits each of His creatures because He knows us, my mom, younger sisters and elder brother are still Christians, my brother in law was a Moslem that converted to Christianity through revelation, this man I married is an Edo man and a former Pastor, he converted to Islam through series of powerful revelations and divine leading, now he is a comparative Muslim scholar comparing Islam to Christianity, he gets invited to preach at Islamic functions a lot and he has written a book, that person that said I will change to other religion in case of challenges, all I will say is to each person his own, Islam is not perfect just like Christianity is not, but I have read the Bible through several times and I'm reading Quran now, it's actually a continuation of the Bible. I will not say more than this here, get me on ella4ever@rocketmail.com if you need more explanation. I will not reply any other comment here because this platform is not for this, I was just trying to advise a sister.

thanks sis am back to my family now praying to get much better so I can start my life in good faith I've made a mistake but I know God can and he will fix it for me.
I'm replying you because I can see from your previous post that you are a Muslim and I feel I can encourage you with my experience. I also read the thread you created in 2016 from your profile on how you were being pressured to get married and how lonely you are and also about the guy on facebook. I converted to Islam Nov 2016, prior to then I had been a serious Christian minister for 20 yrs, this is not a religious preaching thing but you will get my point after you go through this, for a long time I was also a single, praying to get married, I became a prayer point for the church. I witness my friends start a relationship, get married, have three children and their children start schooling yet nothing was happening for me, I did several deliverance with fasting and prayer but nothing worked, I just notice Muslim men are the one that come to me begging to marry me, I used to tell them to convert to Christianity before I could marry them, anyway I eventually married a Christian at the age of 37 but he died 4 years later, I was an evangelist and Sunday school teacher through out the time we were married, we didn't have any child, I moved back home, became serious with evangelism, work of God and everything then I met a Muslim guy again who was again serious about marrying me but I said God forbid, I told my mum and she started shouting that I'm still selecting at the age of 44 with no child, she said I should give him a chance so I started thinking of the possibility, I noticed the more I thought about it the more I got great revelations in dreams. wonderful dreams of breakthrough and deliverance which I told my mum, I now said if Islam is good for me let me myself be a Muslim so I can enjoy the full benefits, so I went to a big mosque and I was led into Islam and started praying 5 time daily, I tell God every time I finished salat that I need a husband who is loving, kind, generous, and considerate towards me, I believe I needed God to chose for me not just accept anyone that surface, I supported it with giving to the poor, not long I met a man who already had a wife but ready to marry a second one, he is handsome and rich but I refused him, while I was meditating on that something reminded me that that is answer to my prayers, I know polygamy is allowed in Islam but I went back to prayer and added that the man must be with only me and loyal to only me, I informed my mosque imam and continue praying, everybody says where will you get a single Muslim man at your age who will not marry more than one wife, I said Allah knows where he is, Jan this year my imam called me and introduce me to this man who is single because the woman he married went back to her previous husband whom she had 3children for, I prayed about it and got my confirmation through dreams, we are now married and he loves me to bits, I'm living like a queen in his house and sometimes I just wondered if it's me that my life has turn out like this, I was told of how he could remove his eye for his former wife but she left because her daughter is about to get married and she didn't have any child for this one, she felt she should be with her former husband for her daughter or something like that, my point is that God answers prayer if you ask Him, I suffered in xtianity because everybody's destiny is different and xtianity wasn't meant for me, God was answering my prayers then by sending me those Muslim men but I just was not seeing it, I am surprised at the speed my prayers are answered now, there is something that I have been asking God for concerning my mother for the past ten years with prayer and fasting, my mother testify of it in December last year barely a month I converted to Islam, please pray before making the next move, make sure your five daily prayer is regular then table your request to Allah immediately after salat, use this Ramadan period to settle your case, also tell imams in your mosque because they are closer to the male congregation and knows who is who, you are not too old so don't sell yourself short, also don't stay in a marriage where you might lose your life, Allah sees all and is merciful. salam
