Is there a WhatsApp Group for Accra Visa Office?
My AOR is July 5th and still no movement whatsoever on my profile. Is this an isolated case?

No you are not alone. There are more than 100 of us spread between 2 WhatsApp groups I know of.
Maybe zutlin can help with your addition.

Lovely discourse. As long as tempers don't flare, these discussions are actually quite enlightening. Kudos to the contributors. I wish our current residents can introduce some of these testy topics from time to time and share their perspectives. It will certainly go a long way to preventing some Chinedu Ayo Yusuf from losing his PR tomorrow.

If we gonna win a war against racism. it wont be by throwing punches at ignorant white people. We need an investment into a calculated steps and strategy than can enable black folks break the system that feeds racists.

Know this- whoever that guy is, he has zero respect for you, your culture, your sensitivities or anything about you. To infer those words would be terrible but to say it so explicitly is actually sacrilegious in modern society.
I don't know the circumstances that dictated your response but I can tell you that whatever you intended to achieve by that cordiality will be fruitless.
For people like that, you must DEMAND respect in strong words. Never ever accept such denigrating language from anyone. Whoever says that to your face deserves words.

NEVER mess with the government here. NEVER. Anyone who lives here knows it. I fear God then the federal government. Only 2 things in life that scares me. Lastly i know a Ghana girl who was on EI (employment insurance) while being unemployed. The conditions was you must stay in Canada the whole time looking for a job. She went to Ghana to party. When she returned to Canada her benefits was cut off. She was asked to repay back the money paid to her along with a 20k fine or so with interests. If she failed to comply the government was going to charge her with fraud and prosecute her. An arrest warrant would have occurred after her unsuccessful appeal. Shes paying back that fine till today. And she's illegible for EI ever again.

This is gangster man.

It does make me happier to choose Canada. The only way these benefits are sustainable is to make sure they are not abused.

I've followed this discussion and I'm quite impressed with your candor. Not because of your point of view - no two marriages are alike so nothing is caste in stone- but more for your composure. Indeed, your opinion is yours and others should respect that. When we begin to hear people being attacked for airing their personal opinions respectfully, then that conversation is a no no. I'm very surprised that the culprits are some of our most respected contributors on this thread.

Pls @maternal and @vole, I can't attempt to disrespect either of you cos I know we have built this thread of your help and knowledge. But pls it's not okay to personally attack a person for airing his opinion and perspective. Its called cyber bullying and it's an issue that undermines whatever point you are trying to make. I understand you feel strongly about the subject and that's fine, but speaking to Guiterlife like you did is not consistent with what we know about you. It's not ok to say he's saying bulshit just because you don't agree with him. It's not okay to tell him to do and sit down for airing his perspective.

That's my 2cents.

Apologies for the late response. I'm aware ACCA has centres in Canada but I think it's only in Ontario. It would not very convenient writing it there I suppose.

I didn't attend any tuition centre since I obtained my ACA not very long ago when ICAN converted to IFRS. I'm just focusing on the past questions and a photocopy of BPP Practice and Revision kit which I purchased N2,500 per paper beside Ivy League, Yaba. The BPP practice and revision kit is very comprehensive but one is expected to have a fair knowledge of all the IFRS and IAS before exploring this option for the Strategic Business Reporting (SBR) and P7 exam. I also bought Ivy League's lecture note N1,500 per paper but it is not very comprehensive. I'm writing 2 papers in December, SBR and P7.

If you study the past questions rigorously, say 15 diets and understand the principles behind them, you can be sure to pass. I did this for 2 months when I wrote the ACCA Diploma in IFRS exam and passed well in one siting without attending lectures..

I have friends that ply the online route but I prefer to adopt the fire brigade approach. smiley

Been fun, it wasnt until that I got lost with no help in sight. my phone ran out of battery and left me without google maps, a price for taking too many photos I guess. So I think I should share the photos I took to make the over 2hrs I spent trying to find my way home count for something.

This is really good. I bet you can make some money off this if you sell it as a stock picture online. Great job

Which theology degree did Paul have before entering christian ministry?.. Don't get me wrong pastors have to learn before entering ministerial assignment but how they learn it varies from ministeries to ministeries... Also the content of curriculum would also cause conflicts as many ministeries differ in their interpretation of scriptures.

Did Paul do his ministry in Rwanda? The Rwandan people are telling you their own, you dey talk wetin Paul do 2000 yrs ago. Paul sef was very learned.

Mklanceee:

you can't learn the way of God at school. most of Christ apostles were not learned

Did we have Nysc 2000 years ago? So we should stick with the laws of that time because them it's Christianity. Even at creation, God said we should go conquer the world. That means we should update ourselves.

Abeg Rwandan people carry on. Let's separate the chaff from the seeds.

Complicated issue here. The thing is you are not yet a pr holder until you have landed. I would say land and settle before you invite your mum. Her chances are higher with that letter than other means. I have invited my mum and parents in law and everything was smooth.
See if you can land earlier, settle and then invite her or let her come a little bit later.

How long does one need to be resident in order to invite parents. Do you have a link for the requirements?

While I may not be able to take advantage of this opportunity, I just want to thank you and all the beautiful souls on this platform that go out of their way to answer questions and offer support. I guess I have been on this thread for about a year now, with each passing day, I find myself in awe of the benevolence of the participants of this thread. I fully understand what it takes to make out time from one's busy schedule to answer strangers, yet you guys do it as though its a paid full time job. The quality of answers and insights we get here are so good that it is hard to come to terms with the fact that we get them for free.

To everyone who has been of help here and on the sister thread(Canadian Express Entry), pls know you are appreciated. Our gratitude is not in any way a proportionate reward for your efforts, but I hope it somehow instructs the universe to ensure the odds are always in your favour. Once again, thank you all.

Well Said.

With @vascey asking about mentoring, it got me thinking about how I can contribute to the success of my fellow citizens who are already in Calgary and surrounding areas (Airdrie, Chestermere etc) in their Canadian dream . In view of this and despite my very busy schedule, I have decided to offer crash course in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt FREE OF CHARGE for Nairalanders in Calgary and surrounding areas. The course will take place on a Saturday and it will take 4 hours. You will learn the basic Lean Six Sigma tools and the basics of Lean Six Sigma to enable you decide if it is something you want to do to boost your existing career or to jump start your career in Canada.

In order for me to do this and for it to be worth my time and effort there has to be minimum of 3 people interested in taking the course. When we get the required minimum number of people we can use one of the libraries in Calgary as the venue of the course. I know that some libraries in Calgary have meeting rooms that they give out free of charge for this type of community support activity. So, we can take advantage of that.

If we have more interest than the meeting room can take, I am willing to have multiple sessions to accommodate all interested Nairalanders. If you are not in Calgary but willing to come to Calgary for the session you are also welcome to attend.

The only two things I am asking for in return for this free course are:
1. For you to also help other people succeed free of charge in any capacity you may have. Let the circle of help continue.
2. Not to take the offer for granted by coming late to or being absent at the sessions scheduled date just because you are getting it for free. Please be mindful of my time.

Finally, if you are interested, make your interest known by posting here on the general platform.

Thank you very much sir for making yourself available to provide this great opportunity to our people. I'm sure that with time others will be encouraged to come forward to mentor Nigerians in Canada in their different fields of interest. I know a guy in my organisation who is a certified black belt in six sigma. Will speak to him to see what I can do.
Travel / Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by vascey(m): 12:33pm On Sep 26, 2018
SixSigma1:

1. The first the one I strongly recommend is the internal training and certification through an employer (the first one) for the following reasons:
I) You have internal Black Belt and Master Black Belt available to you for coaching and mentoring.
II) You will only get certified after actually proving your skills and delivering results to the company. Your result could be easily verified by already certified internal professional unlike ASQ or other external certification where they only need your manager to testify that you did a project. If your manager is not a Six Sigma professional they will sign off on what they know nothing about.
III) Internal training and certification is free of cost for you. In fact, you are getting paid salary while being trained (just like you are doing an MBA). The following statement is from Glassdoor regarding Six Sigma Black Belt salary at Maple Leaf Foods:

https://www.glassdoor.ca/Salary/Maple-Leaf-Foods-Salaries-E7047.htm

SixSigma1, thanks for the enlightening post.
I am actually looking forward to switching careers and this looks great.
Though I am still in Naija, how do I position myself from here. In other words, what can I start doing now to put me in a better position for opportunities such as the one at Maple Leaf.
Are you available for mentoring?

Darling Nairalanders, PPR News.

I have been thanking God since yesterday and couldn't still thank him enough. PPR has falling on me. All thanks to God.

My brief Timeline below.

IELTS = 5 times
ITA = 04/06/2018
AOR = 11/08/2018
MEP = 12/09/2018
BIL = 17/09/2018
PPR = 20/09/2018

3 days between Biometrics and PPR
8 days from MEP to PPR.

This could only have been God.

I'm actually a silent follower of this thread. Learnt a lot from here. IELTS oppressed me. I will by tomorrow highlight my experience and detailed timelines, for others to learn from and not get neither weary nor discouraged.

Thank you all for you supports. I wish you all the very best. 1 Love

Congratulations. This is incredible. When you got ITA, my application was already in its second month. Yet here you are with PPR and I am still waiting.

This should serve as a lesson to everyone. Just do your thing right and hope for the best. It's not by how many times you do IELTS.

So Never Give Up. Even if you do IELTS 10 times, you may end up getting PPR before someone who did it once (BTW I did it once).

So never give up.
