Nevertheless, I am still interested in the case outlined by geebaby10.
Therefore, I may need to make more calls to Service Ontario and speak to different representatives before coming up with a conclusion of whether or not a person can qualify for OHIP before the 90 days mark.

Thank you TheCongo2. This will help a lot of people.

Thanks for your response. I have reached out to WES, and it will only cost CAD100 to request for a course-by-course evaluation from them. That for me is way better than going back to my school. Firstly, I have landed already. Secondly, it took me about 3 months to get the first transcript sent to WES for Express Entry. I no get that kind patience again. I will just go ahead and contact ACCA for the letter of good standing and WES for the Course-by-course evaluation sent directly to CPA.
Great. 100 cad is not that bad.

My question is one kind abeg, make una no vex. So I am currently an FCCA and I've done the online course on overview of Canadian tax and law. Looking through the requirements for membership to CPA Ontario, it says "bachelors degree from a recognized university". I have an HND (albeit WES assessed) I just want to know if there's anyone that has been in my shoes and has received the designation. I have spoken to CPA Ontario (about transcripts), and they have no problem with WES sending that across. I am only asking for me to get reassured. Thanks in advance.

I'm actually at this stage with CPA BC. Got my school to send my transcript but it didn't have a statement saying they awarded a degree. CPA BC requested they send, by courier, a letter stating it explicitly. These guys can be very unreasonable atimes. I contacted CPA BC to find out if they would accept a report from WES, since I had done my ECA, and their answer was affirmative on the condition that it is sent directly by WES.

Unfortunately, WES requires me to initiate a new ECA for the purpose of certifications. WES conditions stipulates that each ECA can only be for one purpose. If you want a report for another purpose such as admission to university, certification etc, you have to initiate another ECA.

I'm still trying to follow up with my school to send the letter since it's cheaper than getting a new WES report.

So I advice you get WES to send a report. If you choose to go through your school, they will need to state categorically that they awarded you a degree, which I doubt they will state unless CPA Ontario are more lenient and understand HND is equivalent to degree.

For me, I just got AOR on Friday so I'm not exactly in a hurry.

My seniors in house please do I need a reference letter from the bank for my salary account. I'm submitting my salary account history as part of the proof of experience. So that they can reconcile payslip to salary alert. Unfortunately the bank is saying that the reference letter will take a while to get. Do I really need it for this?

I have already obtained reference letter for the savings account I'm submitting as part of my proof of funds (another bank).

So do I need it for the salary account?

@glitteringstar please assist

Well, one has to make a decision. So far, there is no indication that the MRA with ACCA will be cancelled. I think CPA is enjoying the flow of funds coming in otherwise, why would CPA Ontario join CPA BC in accepting members outside Canada. They don't mind the yearly subscriptions and the fact that CPA membership is growing, that is what every accounting body wants even ACCA.

ACCA now has 4 exam diets in a year, and many people are completing more exam papers due to this flexibility. If you set your mind to do it, you will can complete it within a year plus.

I made mention of a friend who is taking this path, she has few papers to go, she is currently in Canny for soft landing.

Let everyone do what they are convinced to do and what works for them.

I haven't written CPA exams before, but I heard it is hard to pass and also a more expensive venture than ACCA (Please verify this, it's just hear say).

I totally agree with you. No need falling for the analysis paralysis and the resulting inaction due to fear of maybe they will or they won't.

Do it anyway.

I started mine with CPA BC and those guys have been annoying as hell. I guess folks should try CPA Ontario. They sound a bit more flexible.

Morning friends.

My wife was diagnosed of post child birth depression. She's on medication. She has since recovered well and has no single trace of any anti-social behaviour whatsoever, however, she's still on prescription drugs. Her doctor advised we include her health history in our submission because she might require to continue her treatment over there. My concern is, can we be denied based on medical inadmissibility because of this?

Actually you need to disclose it. If you do not, I think the blood test will probably give them an indication she is on some form of medication.

Then, you can be thrown out on the basis of misrepresentation. However, I do not think the condition is enough to disqualify you. it is more common than you think, it goes away soon enough, it is not a terminal sickness, she's of no risk to the public, it is not a communicable disease, her vital organs are still intact etc. I don't think you have anything to be worried about.

Bros, if you are rich already, what do you want to gain abroad again? The only thing is to expose your children by frequent travels that's all. With your money, you can afford a very very comfortable life amongst your fellow race in Naija and you will be treated like a king. Canada is not the destiny of everybody bro, enjoy your success

Actually, I can tell you that a lot of the people processing this permanent residency are operating at that income bracket and above. They are doing so for the following reasons:

1. The future of their children. This is not about money but about citizenship. There are certain things that some passports guarantee you in life. Least of all- if you work hard, you won't be hungry. In Nigeria, hard work and education do not guarantee success and self-sustenance. Not even for the so-called big men.

2. Value for life. Our society does not value human life. People die here everyday and nobody except their immediate family cares. Over there, your life as an individual is valued. No fulani man can kill you or burn your house, not even if he is the president or prime minister. You actually matter.

3. Top notch medical care and it's also free. I used to nuture the dream of riding a powerbike. Until I saw that the president's son had to be flown out after his accident. I gave up. It means that for every biker. OYO lo wa. The government may give you license to ride your bike, but if God forbid, something happens to you, whatever you see, you take. That is even on a lighter note. There are more serious implications for our poor medical infrastructure. I was at the intensive care unit for infants at UNIPORT teaching hospital one day, a couple came with their pre-term child from Bayelsa and they were told no bed space. meaning the child can go and die for all they care or try another teaching hospital. Think about that. On the flip side, maybe one somebody here will be generous enough to tell you about how child birth is managed over there. There are things your 1 billion cannot buy in this country. This is one of them.

4. Your success actually matters. The government creates a lot of incentives for the citizens and permanent residents to do well in life. Actually, they start contributing to a child's welfare from day 1. Give birth and they begin to pay the parents cash for the child's upkeep. I heard this and I wanted to go crazy.

5. Your security- have you ever wondered about how when an American/British/French/Canadian citizen is kidnapped anywhere in the world, the news someone makes it to CNN headlines. That is because they matter. You cannot kill them or kidnap them without implications. For every single one of them anywhere in the world, they are tracked because they are precious to their government.

The reasons are too numerous to count. I am surprised you are on this thread without full appreciation of the benefits of what you are doing. Do you know how many people leave their well paying lucrative jobs in Nigeria and go to Canny to start at lower positions? Why do you think they do it?

Hi guys,

Long time no chat. Some of you might remember this my post below.... Anyway long story short, I got precisely what I was targeting barely 2 months after I arrived in Canada. No Canadian experience or education at all! I did not even apply, they found me on LinkedIn, sent me a message and the application process went on from there.

I got two graduate jobs on the same day but I chose the one that pays far less because it had been my target since I was in Naija and I know it would make far more sense in my resume when i decide to move in the near future.

This is just to motivate someone who might be feeling down about job search or thinking he has to compromise and do something he doesn’t want to. No, you don’t have to if u don’t want to! Have a plan and stick to that plan whilst also trying to improve yourself.

Maybe some other time I can write full gist on the interview process, how I was improving myself when I arrived, my preparation methods, etc.

Wish you all the very best!

Congrats Wura. You know the Koko of what we want to hear is what you did and how you did it. So please we are still waiting for you.

Thank you jare. Yes CeeC is evil. No doubt. Yet it's pains me that her useless shenanigans is generating more comments and attention than our president who insulted 60% of this country in the international scene. That is what our celebrities should be ranting about not some inconsequential mofo that her husband will use for punching bag if she continues like this.

PMB's comments show that he's out of touch with the Nigerian youths. Perhaps he's referring to his children and all those underage almajeras that voted him. This man is begging us to vote him out and he should be obliged. Please register and collect your voting card. Kicking this man out of Aso rock is our collective responsibility. If you can't do it for yourself, do it for your unborn children.

You are still gonna order either from pre-listed bodies or you type it in if allowed.

It's not allowed. Each order can only serve one purpose, it seems. So an order for immigration cannot be used for certification.

You can use it. I would've used it myself if I'd received an ITA before mine matured some weeks ago. My friend (who marketed it to me 5 years ago) worked there, he used his policy certificate alongside T-Bills and pension contribution as PoF. Now the young man says hello from the other side.

Thank you.

Yeap, one of my friends that is not on Nairaland used it as part of her POF, what is your question?

Thank you so much.

I am requesting a letter of confirmation of balance from them and we are having a few issues:

1. They use the terms life assurance policy/premium and this does not reflect the investment part of the contract but only the insurance part. Someone looking at it may not know I am getting some money from them upon maturity.

2. The duration of my policy is 5 years and expires in July. This means that by July, I will get my money. Will this be okay if I am submitting my application in April and using it as part of my PoF.

3. Finally what was the experience of your friend? And what was the format of the letter she used. Do you know if it was accepted?
