Something is good because it is good .lol. That is not a satisfactory answer i guess . In anthropocentric affairs, Religion, culture, ethics, logic, common sense and personal judgement all play part and distribute itself implicitly in such a way that views are formed, individually as well as collectively. Medical point of view provides another clue to a thing that may be good as well.

Normally, I do not put my nose in other people's beliefs (or lack of beliefs). However, there is this atheist at my place of work that really needs to change his attitude towards others. Let us call this atheist "Vic".

I wouldn't care if not that many coworkers assign Vic's behaviour to his atheism. This makes it bad for other atheists like me who are still in the closet at work.

This Vic of a guy is tall, handsome and is in a higher position at work but he is also very much disliked. He is arrogant and he is a womaniser. He talks to people anyhow. Even when he debates atheism, he comes off as arrogant. I am happy that he challenges people to think about their beliefs but insulting them will only make them hate you.

The problem is, how do I tell him to calm down? I am not exactly his boss but I have a slightly higher position than him. I really do not talk about religion in public and this makes me nervous.

Tell him the ideology he proclaim is not a measure of intelligence neither does being religious make one deluded. show him these list of mathematician that are very intelligent yet religious. Because of the greed and cruelty of humans toward animals, I want to support the well being of lions.
My remains will be served to the lions at one of the National Reserves. To ensure that quality meat will be served to those loving lions, I only eat healthy free range chickens that had a chance to play, make friends and roam freely. I also eat non GMO foods. I exercise regular to build muscle so as to maximise the flavour that lions deserve.

There is something important I want to say. I have noticed that people tend to have an extremely sceptical approach to this subject, even despite overwhelming evidence for it. The argument these people tend to have is that science or established institutions reject the claims as hoaxes. What people like this do not understand is that the institution of science and other establishments that have the capacity to officially verify knowledge are all controlled and regulated by the government, and in this case I mean western governments, especially the United States.

The subject on the existence of Aliens is a very controversial and dangerous subject because if Aliens are officially proven to exist and to have interfered with human development, the very fabric of society would crumble, religious organizations would be a state of confusion, political structures would wobble and the entire world would be in a state of hysteria. No western government would want this sort of information to be believed as true by the people, for lots of obvious reasons. Hence why they use their institutions to discredit data that supports the claims.

Most people don't believe that western governments could do such. They can't comprehend how those in power could force scientific institutions to lie or conceal the truth. This in my opinion is a consequence of moral naivety and a poor knowledge of history.

If you understand the evil that you are capable of, they you can easily recognize this capacity in others.

The Western governments(power structures of the west) have in modern times had a disreputable history of lying to its citizens and to the world. They have a history punctuated by deceit, callousness and the execution of atrocious actions just get what they want; which usually is to maintain power, control & dominance.

Operation Gladio is an example of what western powers can do to get what they want. It's the codename for a clandestine operation carried out by the west in the 20th century where false flag attacks which included train bombings and mass shooting were executed on western population and these attacks were then blamed on the Soviet union. Over 100 people were killed during these attacks. When people began to make claims that these attacks were false flags, established government controlled bastions of truth dismissed them as hoaxes. It was only until quite recently that western governments came out to apologize and confess to what they did. There have been similar documented cases like Operation Northwoods, Operation Washtub and Operation Susannah where after many years of lies and deceit, the government confessed of their crimes.

The reason I'm saying all this is that we shouldn't be quick to dismiss claims just because established western institutions call them hoaxes.

relax bro, no absolute true anywhere. what we have are just best guesses.. taking this as the original truth will tantamount to ignorance. u yourself can even find out if u have the requisite knowledge to do so scientifically...so there is nothing hide in the dark. scientists are just people like u and what is generally perceived as science is limited and affected by the same shortcomings that limit all bodies of knowledge. Science isn't some all knowing doctrine. It's people, like you and me, seemingly united under some vague concept of the scientific method. All these theory who are attempting to poke around in the dark of the alien to move humanity forward a distance should be ready to bring in the best guess.

If you would want to answer the question of an alien, you'd have to make a hypothesis about what you think alien is. Now for me, asking this question would be tantamount to asking the structure of the universe, and we haven't figured it out yet despite our best guesses.

Best guess available suggest that we humans are closely related to everything on earth,neither we are breed/engineer , the fossil record is too slow and clean to be anything but natural. in my own postulation, the power involve is mystery and beyond human comprehension.

The Dogon are an ancient tribe living in Mali, West Africa. They claim to be the living conduit between heaven and Earth and to possess not only knowledge of the cosmos, but of man’s true origins.

According to one of their oldest legends, a race called the “Nommos” visited the Earth from the star Sirius many millennia ago. The Dogon learned from the Nommos that there was a companion star (Sirius B) orbiting the Sirius star (the brightest star in the sky near the constellation Orion) where the Nommos came from. They landed on Earth in an “ark” that made a spinning decent to the ground with great noise and wind.
In the 1930’s two French anthropologists, Marcel Griaule and Germain Dieterlen, recorded this legend from four Dogon priests. The tribal elders not only shared their amazing understanding of Astronomy but Physics as well. They knew that the Earth was not flat, as many primitive tribes believed, but a spherical orbiting body in ‘space’.

Somehow they knew a companion star exists to Sirius A, even though Sirius B wasn’t visible to the naked eye until it was photographed by a large space telescope in 1970. While scientists had long suspected its existence since as early as 1844, none could confirm what was speculated as a “white dwarf” star smaller than Earth.
Some modern-day scientists scoff at the Dogon’s early knowledge of the cosmos, yet have a hard time explaining how the Dogon came to possess a 400-year old artifact that apparently depicts the Sirius configuration. Since the 13th Century they have also performed a “Sigui” ceremony every 60 years to celebrate the cycle of these stars, somehow accurately knowing that this is approximately how long it takes for Sirius A to orbit Sirius B. Scientists also find it hard to explain how the Dogons knew about the super-density of Sirius B, a fact only discovered a few years before the anthropologists recorded the Dogon stories. The Dogons legend goes on to say that the Nommos also furnished the Dogon’s with some interesting information about our own solar system: That the planet Jupiter has four major moons, that Saturn has rings, and that planets orbit the sun. These were all facts discovered by Westerners only after Galileo invented the telescope.
As larger and more powerful telescopes explore the Sirius system, they may be able to validate another Dogon legend of a third star—Sirius C. According to Dogon legend, the Nommos lived on a small planet that orbits Sirius C. A planet that was dying out for some unknown reason which caused the Nommos to seek habitation elsewhere. (Most scientists do not consider any part of the Sirius system a prime candidate for life.)
However, in 1995 gravitational studies showed the possible presence of a brown dwarf star orbiting around Sirius (a Sirius C) with a six-year orbital period. More has yet to be learned.

The Dogon correctly define the key components of matter from atoms to quarks to the vibrating threads of string theory, all in the proper sequence, as supported by explicit tribal drawings. This, too, they learned from the Nommos, which they called the Gods that descended from the sky in a vessel accompanied by fire and thunder. And likewise in principle all living things were made of all these element , plants grow in soil (any of a large number of soils) and they get some of their substance from it, but really, plants are made mostly of water, oxygen, and carbon, none of which come from the soil. This should not be a guess work. how realistic is this claim....... who will go in for such an outrageous margin of a loan interest? i am not a capitalist, maybe that is why i see the idea of debt suck. Accumulation of assets only makes one rich if the value of the assets exceed the maintenance of the debt. let me ask u a rhetorical question. will the Greece ever be able to pay off her national debt, at least in capitalist thinking?.
