What if God actually exists but only atheists would be allowed into heaven? I find it bizarre how theists never thought about that possibility. like we die and God goes "HopefulLandlord, I exist but the test is to weed out those that would believe something on no evidence, you passed. you may pass"
Lol....

I agree with you Vaxx, but hypnotism has severe limitations compared with spiritualism. The most striking limitations are that the subject must be willing to be hypnotised by the Hypnotist in at least two stages. Then the target subject must be in the same room with the hypnotist.
With spiritualism, Juju etc, the subject can be thousands of miles away and be harmed, blessed or healed.
Hypotsism is dangerous, We are not our own saviors and neither is any hypnotist, we must trust in God that he will help us and bring us good things in life. All of the self-help books, “The Secret”, psychics, card readers, hypnotists … they are providing these temporary “reliefs” that are manipulating people and opening them up to bad, evil things they never thought possible. They are not good, stay far far far away!
This is true. I am only trying to bring the materialistic individual into the level he can grasp.

Thanks for the beautiful advice.

@Vaxx this your story is hilarious. And very awfully suspicious.

Why didn't Ifa just tell him who stole the meat instead of the continuous prodding he had to do? Seems like baba was buying time so the gunpowder concoction will react and spontaneously combust. The man himself that the thing burnt his hand could have an alibi so the baba diverted attention to the dog. At least the dog will be unable to dispute it. Smart baba.

I will like to see him try it in a scientifically set up environment with similar scenario if the stuff will burn accurately 4 times out of 5 attempts.

I wish I had time on my hands like I did early this year. I would have invited u to bring the baba to a neutral place let us test his abilities.
You quote the wrong moniker. Check the name again. I will never have put my words in such way.

Buddhism itself is a brain exercise and some. If you think it impossible for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, try Zen for a complete head fuq. The only comparable understanding in Christianity is Gnosticism ("out of Egypt I called my Son" ), and Sufism in Islam. But it would appear our current Nigerian understanding is rather fundamental - the form that places 'belief' above all else, and which leads to ignorance.

I guess it is as Christ said in response to the query from John, "the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and to the poor the Gift of God is given". bav

While many might claim the Spiritual is meant, they have not had spat on mud rubbed in their eyes so they cannot see and receive the Gift, despite their claim to have been born again. Perhaps there's just no 'poor' amongst us.

There is, indeed, hope for us yet. The Kingdom of God full of people with power and grace is being built one mind at a time.
I bet, you have never dive into an Islamic theology called mutazila.....read about thier philosophical stand and weight it with Buddha philosophy. you will be astonished.

Sufism is too full of mysticism and flamboyant rituals.i am very skeptical about the Idea just like contemporary Atr.

As for Gnosticism ,little of her literature has survived. as she brought down upon herself the animosity of the early Christian Church, and when this institution reached its position of world power it destroyed all available records of the Gnostic cultus. So some of her idea require more works from original source which is no where to be found.

Yes sir I fully agree with you. This type of cowardly atheist want acceptance and recgnition from both camps. They prove their foolishness by attaching extreme importance to LABELS than to the principles governing communication of ideas among different cultures.

Are atheists more backward than ancient man, that with all their collective education they fail to display any awareness of the scientific fact that 10 people can have the same experience, but there will be a superficial difference in the way they communicate it to others.
The question is, were some of them lying ?
Why the apparent contradictions when examining their testimony of the same experience ?

Atheists are language extremists. They can hype language to new levels of absurdity.
Vaxx, did you check if any atheist is recorded in The Guinness Book Records for the trivial pursuit of language ?
Not really but I will have to do the findings....

It's good though. Like I said, you get me to learn and relearn stuff, and as I've said in response to winner01, it's how we move forward and evolve. I just wish you'd be more intellectually honest, but I know I can't always get what I want.

We should be mindful that other people read what we write and not misrepresent ourselves because of our egotistical tanhaic desire to seem right when we are wrong. As you yourself said, "people are not stupid". They see right through the rhetoric.

Anyway, I found a comprehensive list of fallacies worth considering and posted a link to them here. It seems logical fallacies have some stupid in them all.

I really admire the way you teach atheists who's minds are drenched in limited materialistic logic to climb out of the deep hole pseudo science dug for them.

Atheists falsely claim that they need evidence of the trancedental/supernatural, but those idiots won't go in search of REAL LIVE EVIDENCE. They shamelessly sit on one place and use fruadulent text books as their mosdramatiched evidence.

Your kind advice to Hopefullandlord to go see for himself, will be mocked by most low level atheists because they know that when even one of their deceived brethren go see real life evidence in ill Arogun, a dramatic shift in thinking starts immediately.

Is there anything like an Argumentum ad stupidity?

I come across it often but never know the Latin with which to describe it.
If you were smart, you would discuss -- not argue.

The people you are "arguing" with are not stupid, they are ill-informed on a topic that you are familiar with or apparently hold a different viewpoint.

Any distress you encounter trying to impart information or change their minds is your responsibility.

Therefore, you either take the emotion out of the discussion and attempt to inform the person or you decline to participate.

This is why I said you always sound like a victim of s negative circumstances. It is not meant to offend you but to pass my subjective judgement. Anyway you still remain my lovely intelligent online friend.

Agumentum ad stultus that is the Latin word but my advise don't use it on your fellow human.

What will you do?

Christianity Etc › Re: Juju: How Real Is African Black Magic? by vaxx:
Yes. Juju by nature is unexplainable.hopefuLanlord ask me similar question which I intentionally avoid because The only objective evident fact is that it involves a force which is beyond human perception.

So it is both subjective opinions and objective facts based on evidence, which are separated.

The objective fact of the matter is that science is merely observation by human faculties; sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch and the interpretation of it according to a scientist's intellect.

To limit existence only to what is perceived is a fallacy. Science itself is not an objectively absolute truth and it contradicts or disproves itself from time to time. in fact science will become boring if there is no more question to ask..The world of metaphysical creatures is beyond the scope of science because man doesn not posses that ability .

The act of juju actually is rendered by a human being, the babalawo or whatever it is called in your native language .but How did he go about it? That is what we cannot empirically grasp....

But my answer is that, it is subject to one's beliefs. And secular individual simply wouldn't know how. And i vaxx of course cannot see the creatures working for the babalawo .According to my own beliefs, i can subjectively deduce that there is extra assistance from mystical creature.. And can arrive at this conclusion to the exclusion of any other possibility. For example simple leaves had been use to heal orthopaedic patient in my own very eye in (Ile arogun) a local house where damaged bones are treated.how the leaves works , I don't know but it perfectly heal the broken leg back to normal. You can try and do the observation yourself. Visit Ile arogun close to you.

And as such, I will say juju can also be use for negativity.. Nigeria constitution recognize it and clearly gave a warning regarding it .although it is in objective sense. Therefore it will be logical if government protect society from them as it is done in some part of the world. Like Saudi Arabia and the rest.

budaatum:
What you have written above is the Four Noble Truths vaxx! Or can you not even understand what you yourself are writing?

Once you understand what your desires are and how pointless they are you stop pursuing them, and even the desire for enlightenment and entering Nirvana disappears, because you can now see and understand.

And instead of fulfilling the ultimate desire of becoming a Buddha and entering Nirvana, you settle as a Bodhisattva, the Sanskrit term for anyone who has generated Bodhicitta, the spontaneous wish and compassionate mind to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings and not just for yourself, which is the desire you began with, and why you followed the Eightfold Path, not knowing when you began that this was it's aim.. The only desire left over is that of eliminating the suffering of others, and you understand that it's not some external desire, but something you constantly strive to bring about yourself.

It is what is explained in the Beatitudes, "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." And in the phrase, "Be the change you want to see" .

Buddhism is indeed mind bending. Shen Hsiu who thought he was enlightened said:

The body is the wisdom-tree,
The mind is a bright mirror in a stand;
Take care to wipe it all the time,
And allow no dust to cling.

From this, the Fifth Patriarch knew Shen Hsiu had not yet found his original nature, but was still wiping dust off a mirror hoping to attain Buddhahood. Hui Neng who couldn't even write, had someone write down his poem, which read:

Fundamentally no wisdom-tree exists,
Nor the stand of a mirror bright.
Since all is empty from the beginning,
Where can the dust alight.

And the Fifth Patriarch gave him the insignia of his office, the Patriarch's robe and bowl, and Hui Neng became the Sixth Patriarch.

Until your mind bends, vaxx, you will not hear the sound of one hand clapping!
self contradicting. It seems Buddha forget that we are a definitive reason for our troubles, and likewise we are the arrangement. We can't change the things that transpire by eliminating one desire in replacement of another....what we left is decision making and not replacement of desire.

, If you drop the ball of decision-making, then society (established by your oppressors) will make the decisions for you. You have to always be making decisions. And not what Buddha is telling you to do...replacing your own desire..

No matter how oppressed you might feel, choices are always available. If you don't see them that is because you are blind to difficult choices and only can see the easy ones.
