It's amazing how simple threads become duels, truels, poluels in such a hurry! ![]() |
@Ariblaze. Very good. But u know, I wasn't really trying. I was bored silly and came up with a boring 'rant' That's why I was surprised Bluspice 'liked' it. |
@Bluspice. I meant since I do not have a sixth finger, I'm so pleased you like the stuff I cooked up randomly. And there was no way to tell that you would? happy? |
Very succinct way to pose questions. Options!!! I love questions with options. Let's get right to it, shall we? 1. As I love movies for mostly different reasons, there can be no single reason why I loved them, so I'll go for a blend of - The Script; I never see this but it translates to all that makes a good movie. It's simple bad script = bad movie. Good script = good movie or bad movie (when badly made) - Plot - Storyline (I'd like to think a storyline is a plot but a plot is not a storyline) - Characters - Casting - Suspense - Empathy - I'd like to add the director. I have made berths of films solely cuz of who made it and vice versa AS for the aspects that don't really matter - Who does the movie star. I don't know whether to equate this with casting. But if you mean star power. I do not care for star power. I thought Eragon, Trasformers, even AvP were quite good. Who needs Brad Pitt? - Cool CGI and what not can make a very good movie but my favorite movies are quite devoid of this. So the absence of special tweaks don't spoil a movie but ridiculous effects spells suicide. - Music. Frankly, when the OST is so good I take notice and might like a movie for that but when it's not so good, it just goes unnoticed. That's why I loved Romeo Must Die. - Visuals. I take this to be the rendering. Technicolor or whatever. I like B&W films and Sepia but they generally don't matter that much. - Action. Good action is always good when you're watching an action movie but I won't always been on the lookout for stunts in say, The Apt Pupil. But them Die Hard films, Yeah! - Romance. Well, since I'm allergic to bullshit, romance has to be in believable doses. If you've seen The Fountain, now that's Romance. Doesn't have to be a princess in love with her exiled step-brother or some other concoction. Wow I just answered the #1 question. I'll post answers for #2 and #3 presently. |
Oh crap! Just call me Vesucci. Have a ball! Espionage really is the best stuff to read! |
I was about to ask you Spike; if this is you having time, what's it like when you do not have time? Glad to have you back, albeit fleetingly. I don't think Asa was Asa's debut album but it's everything else you called it. And maybe more. She calls her genre folk. Is that brilliant or what? I don't know about Taken. Is it like the series or you're talking about the series? And about the oldies, I'm afraid you'll have to take the initiative cuz I'm a little out of touch and wouldn't wanna go prancing around. Gimme some food for thought or better still show me how to get them collections like you did. Do come back now! |
Errhh I'm gonna answer the question as if I was asked. I've never really thought about this, the list might be subject to amendment. I'll go for 20 and they are not in order. LOTR Snatch The Ladykillers Sin City That Girl (it's an oldie) Little Princess; this film made me cry (more like wail) like a baby Finding Nemo E. T. Bram Stoker's Dracula The Omen (this one admitted me in my parent's room in those days) Memento The Prestige The Godfather (must be on everyone's list) The Dictator (I'm not very sure about this title, but Chaplin was in it. Another oldie) Armageddon Finding Forrester Gaskiya, I've run out of steam, I'll be sure to make corrections later as some come back to me. It's funny cuz I just saw Happy Feet and 'let me tell something to you' it was fun but with food for thought. |
I do not think that'll be as easy to get. Crime fiction? My last was a very long time ago. My favorite genre is espionage anyway. I'm currently reading Le Carre's The Constant Gardner, Pride and Prejudice (again, because of you), Pat Conroy's Prince of Tides (again) finishing Hiaasen's Skin Tight (hilarious as usual), started on David Copperfield (this one is daunting) |
Well, I'd bet my sixth finger you'd like it. No surprise at alll |
Plenty material there. You'd begin to think you were an infidel among some of these passionate folks, me included. ![]() |
@Baby, I'm dandy and glad you're online now. Whaddaya say we leave this atmosphere for a more, howdaya say, picturesque environment? |
I kill the guy The guy died I don't know whether the guy went to heaven or hell or in between or nowhere at all I really do not care As long as he is dead And I'm alive But now without him to kill I'm purposeless I feel like dying But then I might meet him in heaven or hell or in between or nowhere at all So I think that's a bad idea Now being alive is also a bad idea Since I no get work So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place How's that you gothic enthusiasts? |
@ Hugger, you're really uncouth for a responsible and married man. Eww |
How does this work? |
@Hugger, clears throat, she's actually happily married or soon-to-be-married |
He's not shy. His brain works faster than his mouth can cope. So he prefers to IM than to blabber out of tandem |
Ah! Bluespice cum Bluspice. Is that some sort of penance for mutilating my alias earlier. Gun-totting Gamine, she's like my Grandmother. She's sure to kick my ass for this, just you watch. @Baby, why can't I just be ur hubby, huh? U see them old TMNT cartoon series, where this large brain is wired up into this hideous body? Is that the kinda husbrain you want? If you love my brain, you gotta love the rest of me, baby. I'm feeling very romantic right now. ![]() And about the Irag passerby, try Irag Imustpostto Where's Kay9? |
@Thirdborn, I very much like your idea but I'm afriad legalities will hamper that move. The best you could get will be for the Directors Guild to refuse to give a film their imprimatur. But as you know, the average Nigerian probably doesn't even know of the DG or their frigging sanction. Besides, he wouldn't care a pig's tit what the DG thinks of his film as long as Osufia goes to London or whichever other country invades his puny mind! The last bit was just to enrage the pro-nollywoods |
Aw, y'all just run with it! Gawd! |
@Max. I downloaded and read Catch 22 because the title sounded, catchy. I didn't regret it and I share your sentiments exactly. |
