Olaleyetobz:You need to proof that you will come back to Nigeria. Do you have a course of study? A business you run? Family members in Nigeria etc. 20-30k weekly is abt 80-120k per month. Is this regular? Or just once in a while? Is it cash in hand or deposit to account. A lot of factors to consider. |
norriswood:You don't need to have done a register wedding. The UK govt recognise customary marriage (trad wedding) and the good thing is you have a child to proof this. Use your child's birth certificate (that has you both names on it as parents) and pictures of your trad marriage in your application and explain that you married traditionally. Note: most British people don't get married sef. They have partners (similar to what you have) and it's recognised. Just be honest in your application. Don't listen to anyone who will try and get you to get some register document. If you don't have it....you don't need it. My own opinion tho |
T33cis:Sorry to hear that your visa was refused. You need to check your account statement for any deposits. In my opinion....the ECO used a flimsy excuse to Deny you this visa. Do you have document that proof the source of the deposits in both accounts? You can reapply immediately but you need to address the issues that the rejection letter raised |
1. She can still get a letter of introduction if possible. 2. If they both have landed property, other immediate family members who still live in Nigeria, that may stand as proof that they will return back to Nigeria, so you can apply for both of them together at same time. i.e. they will submit land documents, pension payment for dad, salary payment for mum, birth cert of other children living in Nigeria etc. If you can't supply this, then better to apply seperately and get them to include marriage cert + letter from the other spouse stating that they will remain in Nigeria when the other spouse is in the UK. 3. Yes! they still need their bank account. It doesnt need to have lots of money in it. 4. Submit both account. He can explain that he recieves pension in one account and motnhly stipends from you in the second account. Both source of payment serves as income. Make sure you provide proof of you sending them money to their account e.g. money transfer reciepts. 5. You really don't have to wait, if she can still proof that her employment is still valid and that she recieves salary, then I see no reason why this should be a problem. 6. Your husband may have a point. But its difficult to advise without understanding your brothers current circumstances in full. i.e. a lot of other details go into refusing visa besides not being employed. However, if i was in your shoes, will wait to help him apply for a student visa directly though to avoid multiple visa refusal over short period of time of aplying for a visit visa and then a student visa etc NOTE: I am not a guru. I am applying for my parents too, but gave advise based on the little knowledge I got from this group and from helping my mum successfully get a visit visa. best of luck ![]() PreciousGemRubb: |
I am trying to upload documents (self service) and need clarification: 1. Do i put all my sponsors documentation under "sponsor evidence" e.g. my sponsors bank statement, mortgage document, sponsors british passport, sponsor council tax etc under the sponsor evidence category ![]() 2. There is another category labelled as financial evidence and not sure if this is for the applicants financial evidence only? i.e. the applicants bank statement, or should this financial evidence contain the sponsors bank statement too? 3. Also under what category should the cover letter be on? Anyone can advise on this please? |
Vicas2000:In the new application, on the question: Does anyone rely on you for financial support? This include children over 18 who live with you at home. My dad has selected NO. And in the additional information, he stated the following: ----- I am no longer financially responsible for the dependent. This responsibility is covered by my son in the UK as he sends me & my wife a monthly allowance for the 3 of us (Me, my wife & dependent). I have included mine & my wife's bank statement to demonstrate this. ----- Would the above explanation be ok? As I send both my mum and dad 50k each monthly that covers for my brother who is the dependent in this situation? Or should my dad state that the allowance is just for my mum and dad and no mention of dependent brother? |
josiahese:I am the one inviting my dad to the UK. I have sufficient salary to fund the trip. |
Justblow:I have stated in my invitation letter that my mum lives at home with my dad. Should I also state that my brother lives with them? In that invitation letter, I also stated that I am financially responsible for my brother. Can you advise if I should state that the 50k + 50k i send to both my dad and mum is to financially support my mum, dad and my brother? Or should it state that its for my mum and dad only? Kindly advise please as this is the last bit of this application before I submit it. Thanks. |
opomulero:I have applied for my mum who is a housewife in the past so let me share what I did: 1. On the application form...she filled unemployed and wrote in the additional info that....she is a home maker. She does not recieve an official salary with payslip as the monthly maintenance comes from allowance she recieved. 2. If you don't have proof of pay into her account...state that she recieves the monthly stipend as cash. Then include your six month bank statement with a cover letter that contains a form showing and stating six times over six Mo th when you withdrew cash with date. I.e. Date....amount withdrawn. And then quote in the cover letter that you handed the cash to your madam to as allowance. 3. Provide marriage cert. And if not available.....use children birth cert with both parents name to proof as well. If you don't have any of these....I would advise...consider waiting for a while and send her monthly allowance directly to her account instead of cash I am not a guru...I am also seeking info here...but I hope some of this helps. |
Justblow:Thanks for this. Will ensure reciept are collected for the future. For older rent payments that we don't have the reciept, can a letter from the landlord suffice? |
Justblow:Thank you Justblow. You and techsport both allayed some of my fears. Unfortunately, there isnt a rent reciept, but I have proof of western union transfer I did every february for their rent (separate from the monthly stipend) which i intend putting in the application if that will help. On my own invitation letter, I have stated that my parents and brother are financially dependent on me and that I send them monthly stipend of £200 (50,000 to each parent) to cover monthly maintenance for the three of them (mum, dad and brother). My dad has also stated in his own cover letter that he is no longer financially responsible for my brother as the stipend I send to him and my mum covers monthly maintenance for the three of them. Please I want to send you a copy of the cover letter privately via private messaging to help review it, can you please kindly approve my request to PM you pretty please. Once I get this part sorted, phew....should go ahead and choose a date for their application ![]() |
TechSpot:Thank you for this Techspot. My parent pay for prepaid meter by cash and I just asked they don't keep any reciept of this as they didn't think it would be useful. Rent to landlord is cash in hand and no reciept (they live in a small town so based on trust.) But i do have money transfer reciept that shows that I send a slightly huge amount than their monthly stipend every february for their rent. For the other things you mentioned, I will include them. But what do you advise on the ones I didn't have above? |
Justblow:Thank you Justblow. I will fill in NO in the new application for FS. However, since he has filled in YES on the previous application that was refused, what explanation do you think I should put in this new application? Also, I only send my dad 50,000 monthly and N50,000 to my mum monthly for their upkeep. I do not send my brother any money as my parents use some part of that to buy bulk food and to pay for anything my brother needs. I also send separate funds yearly for accommodation payment (cash in hand to landlord, so no proof of tenancy). No utility bill as PHCN meter is prepaid. Also, parent got married back in 1979 traditionally so no marriage certificate. Would a letter from my mum + her passport bio data page + my brothers birth certificate suffice (he is older brother but has medical condition) suffice as ties alongside with proof of monthly stipend? Also, considering that on his first refusal, he mentioned dependent child to mean my brother he has a medical condition, should I get a medical certificate from the hospital where he does check up as well? Kindly advise. Thanks so much. as I want to ensure to put in the right information in a concise manner that explains the circumstances. |
All the gurus in the house...please kindly advise on the below pretty pleaseeeee: In June 2017, I invited my dad to visit me in the UK for three weeks, but his visa was refused. I submitted... 1. my bank statement 2. Proof of mortgage 3. Six month payslip 4. Letter of invitation My dad is in his 70's. A retired business trader and currently relies on me for Monthly stipend which I send via western union online to his bank acount every month. At the time of filling the form back then. On the form..he was asked if anyone depends on him and lives with him at home and also if he had any family ties. He 'put' on the form..Yes And he stated in the additional information that my mum and my immediate elder brother (in his 30's) who is visually impaired 'depend' and lives at home with him as my brother needs care as a result of his medical condition. my dad stated this as family ties and he will be coming back to Nigeria. At the time...my dad did not realise that 'dependent' as stated on the form means 'financially dependent'. At the time...he did not submit his bank statement or any proof to show my brothers medical records. I didn't raise an eye brow on this at the time of that application in 2017 as I had one year earlier invited my mum and she was granted a visa without submitting any of her bank statement as I was sponsoring her entire trip. I now know better about submitting lots of proofs after reading and following this thread for the past three months! I am now looking to invite him again. I will be sponsoring his entire trip including flight. Accommodation. Feeding. This time looking to supply the following.... 1. Mortgage statement 2. Current account And savings account Statement with £5,000 balance (will transfer £1,500 from savings to current and then to my dad's account to support his flight ticket) 3. Letter of invitation 4. Payslip six month 5. Flight itinerary 6. 12 months Proof of monthly stipend receipts that I send monthly to him My dad will be submitting the following 1. a cover letter addressing the 2017 refusal and stating that he retired from trading business and does not have a pension and relies on stipend from me. And that he misunderstood the question that while my brother lives at home...he (dad) is not financially responsible for him as my dad is retired. The finance that care for my brother comes from monthly stipend I send to my parents every month. 2. Six Bank statement that shows the monthly stipend I send to him 3. Bank statement that shows stipends I send to my mum too 4. A medical certificate for my brother from a private hospital where he does his monthly medical check up 5. Letter from my mum stating she will care for my brother while my dad is away on this trip (please note that my mum has visited the UK since then and on her own form, she filled that "no one is financially dependent on her as she is a home maker/housewife) I have attached the refusal letter from 2017 to this post Will the fact that my elder brother living at home affect my dad's application as my dad is retired? Also, I am trying to fill his application form right now and the form says: Does anyone rely on you for financial support? This include children over 18 who live with you at home. Should the answer be YES or NO? Can you good people in the house kindly advise on what else I need to add as documentation and if I am missing anything out. I will appreciate every help I can get. Thanks very much.

Has anyone tried to book an appointment recently? What's the earliest date for biometric appointment right now? Just trying to plan an application. Thanks. |
Mikespecialone:I think your application depends on your parents status at the time of your birth and your age. If you were born before 1983 (or 1986...cant remember) then you are eligible. I have a friend who was born in 1982 who applied for right of abode and was granted on the basis of being born in the UK at a time where every child born in the UK is a British citizen. If your parents were British citizens at the time of your birth...then you are entitled to British citizenship too. So if you provide a bit more info...that will help. |
Vicas2000:Can anyone else kindly look into this and advise me on the above please. I will appreciate every help I can get please. Thanks. |
flabroy:Thank you for this flabroy. I will state this in my invitation letter and ask my dad to put that in additional information too. Thanks for spotting it. Will wait for justwise and others to add their two cent too. |
