flinton:LOL. my response was to the wrong post. I was responding to the post about Boris Johnsons letter and not the change petition. |
Brightingsus:Trust me, if it's real, the BBC would have their news talk about it. Nothing in mainstream to suggest this. |
Oloshi83:Private nursery cost between £700 - 1500 full time Mon - Fri depending on how good the nursery is. The one I currently pay for cost £850 per month! That is 40% more than what I pay for my accomodation at the moment. |
Aizen123:Some people will ask you to fight "for your right". But trust me, in this situation, I will advise you not to. There is a Yoruba Adage that says "Ti owo e o ba te eku ida, ma beer iku to pa baba e". In crude translation, it means...If you are not in a position of power, do not challenge the people that kill your father" You are a young man, with your life ahead of you. Do not fight or drag your fathers properties with your uncles. Most of these uncles have nothing to lose and will go to ANY length to get what they want. You have a future, where you will make 50 times more than your dad made in his entire lifetime. My advise....go for your dads burial. If you can get your village head to intervene, get them to mediate on your behalf, but do it amicably. If they decide to do things behind your back, don't even fight it...just go to the burial, greet them properly, pay your last respect to your dad and leave the venue. Don't let some "village people" use your life to play Kalo Kalo. |
covid2019:Your brother is right. Your environment will most times determine your level of thinking. You won't know this until a few years later when you decide to move to a better neighborhood. I won't advise you to build a house in a "low graded" neighborhood and live in it. As someone who has been in your shoes in the past, here's what I'll do: I will re-invest 50% of the money back into whatever brought the money in the first place so that it can make more money. Then I'll save the other 50% for the time in case. This is how the rich think and act. You NEVER EVER starve the goose that lay the golden egg. You feed it. You buy more goose, so they can lay more golden eggs. When you have a basket full of golden eggs, you can use it to fund anything you want to do. e.g. Buying a bigger, better house in a better neighborhood. Too many young people have been advised most times by "people who are not financially savvy" to buy land whenever they make their first million because they are afraid you'll lose the money and won't be able to make more. They say things like....Real estate does not depreciate. Buying land will appreciate etc. But they are missing the point... Whatever thing that made you the present money you have should get re-investment, so you can generate more money. That's what I'd do. Infact, that is what I have been doing for five years. |
What business did you do to make that 11m? (I'm not asking you to tell me..it's Rhetorical question) Whatever it is..it's a cash cow. Keep your money...invest more in that business (I assume it's legitimate). Rinse and repeat. Most people advising you to build a house don't have that 11m. Protect the egg that lay the golden egg. Feed it more food. Buy it a new cage. Sign up for a vet for it. Don't go and buy a dog as a new pet simply because others are telling you to. |
Willie2015:Aptly quoted. God bless you. You summed up my quote.....Eni Ija o ba to npe ara e lokunrin. |
'Eni Ija o ba...tin pe ara e lokunrin'. It's a yoruba adage with the English transliteration that means 'live to die another day'. This is what Gen Diya did by begging Abacha. If you like....mock him.... he is alive today and useful to his family. Of what use is dying for no reason? All the people that died for Nigeria....what did they get in the end? Most of you moving will cry like a baby if an armed robber points a gun at you If you are faced with death...you will beg for your life. If you knew how ruthless Abacha was...you will not even blame this man for pleading. It's best to die by the gun that face the torture that Abacha's henchmen will do to you back then. |
We were so poor...I could not go to uni when all my friends were. Here's what helped.... 1. I read Lots of books. Motivational books. Business books. Marketing books. One that helped me know there was more to life was Robert Schuller book 'Tough times don't last but tough people do'. I borrowed a foto copied version from a friend. That was in 1997. I would Starve myself so I can buy books. Sometimes I foto copy from other people or borrow it. By 2007...i stumbled on some CDs by Sam Adeyemi and he advised the best way to get out of poverty is to learn a skill and make money from it. 2. I learnt a skill. That paid lots of money. I learnt copywriting. Online marketing. Direct response marketing. I ready everything and watched all videos I could find online by Frank Kern....Dan Kennedy and started applying it. 3. I would read a lot about rich people. Wht they do. What houses they buy....what business they run. How they make money. 4. I would also read any business book. Financial newspapers. I am that person that would buy a newspaper to see the adverts in it and trace what those companies do. Overtime...I started making money. Made first million in 2008. And then just rinse and repeat. I have lost millions too. But a lot better now financially. Travelled the world. Met lot of people. Built contact. And at the ripe age of 35 got a degree from a foreign University. Funny enough....that degree is now useless. Even in full time employment in my country of residence...i have never been asked for the certificate. What matters most is my skills. |
giselle237:Thank you. Yes it's multiple entry on the vignette |
My dad got his first uk visa Dec 2019, visited the UK in Jan 2020 for 5 weeks like he stated in his visa application and returned to Nigeria. This Visa expires in July 2020. my question is...can he visit the uk again in June 2020 for three weeks with the same 6 month visa? Anyone has experience using their six month uk visit visa multiple times? please advise a brother.... |
Lateef9699:There is no 'link' in the UK o. If you are applying and not getting calls....then it means...your CV is not good enough. What roles are you applying for? |
afroman23:This thing happened to my brother in law. All his siblings and parent are in the UK. He has been refused visa nearly 7 times because the eco believes he will stay back in the UK if granted a visit visa. My advise....stop trying to help your brother visit the UK. He currently has too many refusal. The more he applies...the more the UK eco thinks he is too desperate. He needs to let the UK rest for at least 2-3 years. Instead....he should visit other countries. I.e.you can all plan a family holiday to dubai and he meet you there. Wirhin2-3 years..he should save aggressively. Buy investment in Nigeria e.g. A business. Landed property. Share holdings etc. If he gets married...have kids....That's also ties to Nigeria too. His job...once he's been there for at least a year is also ties to Nigeria. Then he can package his application again in 2-3yrs...and he will get it. Now I know your instinct would be to ignore this advice and sentimental invite him for your wedding. Trust me...if you do...he may get refused again...and his chances will slim down the more. I've been there done that. I've seen it happen first hand. Please learn from my inlaws mistakes. |
You have an amazing and unique first name. It's easy to pronounce. It's unique and not many musicians will have that name. You can even register your name as a unique domain name for your music. Aniebet Music. Aniebet Records. All the funky names you see were not so funky till they became mainstream. |
STENON:Did you pick an appointment date yet on the tls website? If you are yet to....then you can still use self upload of the document digitally and they will appear with just their passport. With this....you only need to scan their document and upload to the tls website so you don't need to physically present it. I self uploaded all documents for my dad's application from outside Nigeria and he was granted visa. But this will only work if you are yet to book an appointment. |
drach:From your post, it appears you are spending equivalent of your one month salary n the trip. I think that is actually ok. However, in my own opinion, I will make it lower to 2,000 though. But that's my own personal opinion. In your cover letter, make sure you document how you will spend the money on your trip. Your girlfriend needs to send her rent agreement/mortgage statement to proof that she can accommodate you./council tax. She also need to proof that she has a job by providing job offer letter and monthly pay slip for six month. |
damcqute:Your mum is in a better position to get a UK visa. Here are the document she needs to submit: 1. Her bank statement where she collects her pension. 2. If she has a letter /pension certificate, then that's a plus 3. A letter of support from your dad saying that he is happy for your mum to visit the UK while he is in Nigeria. (shows family ties in Nigeria) 4. Property document (C of O or Deed) that proof that she or your parent own the property they live in. 5. Your birth certificate (that shows she is your mum) 6. Marriage certificate (if she has one. If not, don't stress on this, as I successfully invited my parent without it) 7. Does she give receipt to her tenant? If she does, then ask her to include her tenancy duplicate as part of the application. 8. If she doesn't, then she can explain that deposit into her account on a separate letter to say she has tenant. On your own part, you need to provide the following: 1. Council tax bill 2. Your rent agreement or Mortgage statement (depending on if you own or rent) 3. Your BRP 4. A letter of invitation from you 5. Your one month payslip 6. Your job offer letter In your invitation letter, state why you are inviting your mum, for what length (put dates) i.e. My hope is that she will be able to arrive on the 4th of July and spend 3 weeks with me. Also, state in your invitation letter that you've only recently started work, hence why you only have one month payslip. I can't think of anything else, but maybe some other people will suggest some things I am missing out. |
Luxxycool:I will advise you write one. |
Jadue:KLM. Airfrance. Use www.skyscanner.net to search for the flights. NOTE: I am not affiliated with this site. That's same site I booked a direct flight to Heathrow through Virgin. |
sonofakin:Trust me. UK schools are not hard to get into and should not be a worry. The focus should br on getting him the dependent visa. He has less than 3yrs. A brother of mine missed out on this coz they applied too late and he was refuses twice. Everything else is easy peasy. Apply for visa fieat |
sonofakin:How old is the boy? If he is near 16- 18....please tell your friend to quickly apply for that dependent visa before he is past the age. As for the education aspect. This is simple. When He arrive in the country he can apply to the nearest college in the city where they live in. I would imagine that the boy has passed his WAEC...neco or GCE. If yes...he can apply for A levels directly. He can also apply for a higher education access diploma. UK schools are very accommodating and easy to get into unlike naija schools that make things so difficult and there are many routes and they help students to get into school as well. |
iyatrustee:Yes you do. You also need to attach scanned copy of your passport and visa page. Other docs you need are...their birth cert. Letter from their school....marriage cert (if you are married)....letter from hubby giving you permission to travel with the kids (Yes...I know. You don't need his permission but it's to show he is aware of the trip) etc. There are other docs. But maybe other people will shed light on this too. If you are travelling with them...then you need to state that they are applying so they can travel with you. |
Dammyomo123:I wonder if the veterans (Justwise, ekpotek etc) on this group will advise you further. How long ago was this? I will advise him to do the following: 1. Get him to read the last 20-30 pages of this thread to understand how to apply for a UK visa himself 2. Start compiling documents 3. re-apply and be honest and truthful in his new application To get some help on here, you will need to provide more information that will help his application. E.g. What job does he do? How much does he earn? What is the disposable income. what is the purpose of his visit to the UK (this time)? etc |
Dammyomo123:Your hubby needs to meet with the agent to advise if the agent entered his details on the online form as the person who filled the form on your husband behalf. If this is so...it makes it easy for the UK office to forgive him. Irrespective...tell your hubby to be truthful when he reapply. As in...he cannot lie. He should be 100 percent honest. It doesn't mean his visa will be automatically granted. But it increases his chances in the future. |
toulouse:It depends. Was he British already before you were born? If he is...then you have right to British citizenship. If he only recently acquired British citizenship...then that might be hard. |
kunzzy4me:Thanks very much. will do that |
Quick question....does a traveller needs to travel on the exact date that they filled on their application for the visa given and to the same destination? i.e. Intended travel date filled in application 20th January 2020 to 3rd of March 2020 (flight from Lagos to Birmingham) while the actual travel date for flight ticket is 21st January 2020 to 6th of March 2020 (Lagos to Heathrow). Reason: Ticket cheaper on those dates by £300 and is direct flight and less stress as traveller is an older person. I hope this is not any big problem at point of entry. Any comment will be welcome. |
asamwababy:Thanks very much. Will consider that. |
kunzzy4me:Thanks very much. I appreciate |
Success Story - Applied for a visit visa for my Dad (see my past post) back in 2017, but his application was refused. I waited two years to put documentation in place to reapply and this time was granted! Submission of application: 5th Nov Biometrics: 25th Nov Decision made on application: 12th Dec Courier via DHL: 13th of December Delivered today Document submitted by me (the sponsor): 1. Mortgage statement 2. Current account And savings account Statement with £5,000 balance (I transfer £1,500 from savings to current and then transferred £800 to my dad's account to support his flight ticket) 3. Letter of invitation (also quoting that i sent him money for flight) 4. Payslip six month 5. Flight itinerary 6. 12 months Proof of monthly stipend receipts that I send monthly to him 7. job offer (as I was in transition of jobs) 8. Birth cert of our baby in the UK (invited dad to come and say hello to his grandson) My dad submitted: 1. a cover letter addressing the 2017 refusal 2. Six month Bank statement that shows the monthly stipend I send to him 3. Bank statement that shows stipends I send to my mum too 4. A letter from my brother from his school 5. Letter from my mum stating she will care for my brother while my dad is away on this trip 6. Mums letter of support Please note: I did not submit any proof of address (i.e. tenancy agreement, rent reciept or utilitity bills). However, both parents bank statement have their home address. Thank you to everyone who replied my post. I sincerely appreciate. I am now contemplating wether to book direct flight (Virgin) or shuttle flight (KLM) for my dad. KLM is cheaper though, but I am a bit concerned about the long distance airport transfer in Schipol for a 70 year old! |
bigtt76:You are right about this. Most businesses in the vicinity will be more than happy to help or allow you watch footage to trace it.so please don't be afraid to ask them. This is the UK and many business owners (even corporates) they are more humane and willing to help. By the way...please don't expect any result from the UK police. They are useless in this type of crime. The only crime they care about are terrorism...murder...manslaughter...fraud...drugs etc. Any item worth less than £1,000 is not important to them so they won't even chase it. They will only log it to say the crime has been reported. |
gaskinachi:Sorry to hear about your friend's. Does the Cab has a company name? They are usually written on the side of the cab. If yes, he might be able to trace. If not, please tell him next time to call taxi cabs rather than hailing one (as passengers are only covered by insurance when they order a cab over the phone. Now to your question, here's what your friend should do; 1. He needs to apply for a new passport with the Nigerian High Commission in the UK for a new passport and provide a police reference as evidence that he has reported the passport missing or stolen. (he will need this to fly back to Nigeria). 2. Tell him also to try and contact the UK Visas and Immigration contact centre on Telephone: 0300 123 2241, They are opened on Monday to Thursday, 9am to 4:45pm Friday, 9am to 4:30pm. Note: It's a free phone number if he dials from a landline. He might be have to wait in the queue on the phone for up to one hour, so tell him to prepare for this. 3. Tell him to keep every piece of documentation, date/times he called the police/home office, who he spoke to on the phone, what time etc so that when next he is applying for a visa in the future, he will have proof to show that he did reach out/contact the home office to let them know of his predicament. |
