Most of you don't think and reason beyond your noses. You only realise how stupid and ingrate you are to your father when you lose him and becomes a father too.
In many situations, even when you know your mother is not respecting and treating your father well in the first place, he becomes your enemy the moment he takes a second wife.
How dare you say someone who feeds you, clothes you, pays rents and bills because of you, pays your fees to university level, AND EVEN GAVE YOU A WHOLE ₦400K FAR BACK LIKE 10 YEARS AGO, did not do much or go beyond or high for youhuh?
What an ingrate!
You said it all bro. Don't worry...many of them will learn when they start catering for a family too. Let's pray it's not too late.

Thanks. But this person you're addressing isn't a kid but a somewhat "early" millennial. I believe I am old enough to make my own decisions.

By the way, how can you make the assumptions that he did all those things you wrote? You cannot know better than the person wearing the shoes!

MVP my foot! I am a man myself. But I don't subscribe to sweeping irresponsibility under the carpet under the guise of a person being this or that. That's how some were trying to win our support for the president because he's a fellow Yoruba man back then. I don't entertain such sentiments.

The truth about relationships with one's children is that they are best built when they are still young. How do you build a non-existent relationship when the child is an adult and expect it to be strong? That's even such fathers even care to attempt to build one.

In my own case, I believe I have forgiven him because we still talk occasionally. I don't have any need for such conversations at all otherwise.

Parents (and people generally) who were irresponsible shouldn't feel entitled. Imagine a child that was left to fend for him/herself or die now makes it and you say he's indebted to those who left him to die because they're his parents? Yeah, right! undecided
As an early millennial, my post should not really emotionally trigger you this much.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavour and what you decide to do.

ThaThinka:
Bro, you're an adult so you'll ultimately have to make your decision.

Personally, I don't think I would do more than you're currently doing. I mean you're already sending him monthly allowances! If you're not his only child, he doesn't have to depend on you solely for his living.

I am in a somewhat similar situation as you. I don't send the man money, partly because the relationship was never really there and because I don't think I can afford that. 🤨 I was most likely the least cared for among his children.

A car is somewhat luxury to me, except he intends using it for business purposes. I cannot fund luxury for someone that hasn't earned it and it's not about being unforgiving in my book. I hate irresponsibility!

I think you wouldn't even be sending him anything or relating with him at all if you are being unforgiving. You may grant his request sha if it will be easy to because we're not in the same shoes.

Ultimately, do as God convinces you. I know I am not perfect.
Call your dad tonight. Ask him how he is. Ask how he is faring. Then send him some money.

See ehn....one day that dad will be no more and you will regret not mending the fence with him.

As for the OP, your dad paid for your uni right? He cared for you from childhood and ensured you got a degree.

Your mum did the barest minimum e.g. Selling land and suddenly, she has done more than your dad?

What about all the fees he paid from primary to secondary.....what about the feeding of the family from cradle to grave?

Did you notice that most people egging you on not to care for your dad are women?

I sincerely pray it is not too late for you.

My dad never sponsored me to Uni. I had to fend for myself and I became successful.

but guess what....I have funded his lifestyle for the past ten years and I am happy doing it.

Like right now...my goal is to ensure that my parent (both of them) have premium igbadun till their old age and eventual demise as long as God gives me the capacity.

I do not look into the past at what they've done wrong.

I give a monthly allowance in six figures each to them to the point they sometimes even feed the needy out of their excess.

I Ensure they travel abroad once every two years

And also doing some other massive private project I can't share here.

You know what's funny.....the more I keep taking care of them...the more I keep getting blessed.

I sincerely pray you have a rethink. You dad is an MVP. He is a god. Don't ever let any of the female nairalanders here paint him negatively for you. I just really wish you can see it.

from what i see the design is very okay however my worry is that asthetically it won’t be too pleasing because of its all straight long design so probably the roof will just the regular old style however since it is for aged parents then it is okay. You can contact me for the structural drawings and other related like mechanical and electrical plans or construction.
Thank you very much visaclick.

Yes, the architect advised he has set it in a straight long design due to the layout of the land. I will upload when I have the full design again. Thank you.

I am looking to build a 4 bedroom bungalow with one of the room as self contain for a domestic worker on a 500 sqm land.

Heres the 2 floor plan design that my architect created and I want the experts in the house to help me critique this.

Does the floor plan flow well?

This plan is for aged parent hence why I want a bungalow rather than a duplex etc.

Any critique please? Thanks

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Vicas2000: 4:26am On Nov 05, 2023
Has anyone had any experience with applying to bring an adopted child into the UK as a dependent on a health care visa?

A family friend recently got a job offer in the UK and has been issued a certificate of sponsorship.

This family friend has been married for about 15 years (and no children) so they opted for adoption and they recently got a final court order for the adopted child.

Please note: They've been going through the process, waiting list and checks for the past two years (the process long!)

1. Does anyone have experience of this?
2. What documents do we need to submit to the UK high commission? I already advised that their adoption court judgement will be useful in place of the child birth certificate.

Anyone please, do kindly advise. Thanks.

Destiny helper indeed. That's what all these scam pastors use to get you to pay offering. You want a destiny helper? Make yourself valuable, then hop onto LinkedIn, IG, TikTok, or even YouTube. Attend networking events and maybe you will meet that so called helper. But if you expect to sit on a VIP lounge hoping to meet your 'destiny helper' you will die a wretched man full of regrets.

Your so-called destiny helper has a gateman. A cook. A cleaner. Are they not human beings that he or she can help? You think they see you but all they see is a robot and nothing more. That they smile at you doesn't mean shit. We have seen people work in 7 star hotels for years and their life is the same.

These are people who meet Presidents, A-list celebrities and business magnets on a daily basis yet their life hasn't changed.

It's now someone that working on a barely 1 star hotel that will meet his destiny helper on a VIP lounge.

If you don't use your brain, someone else will use it and drink garri with better evaporated milk. No need talking too much. Life will teach you all a lesson.

When people share the bitter pill the first thing you dumbos do is to start hauling insults. I'd rather sleep and never wake up, than get up everyday to make 18k a month.

In fact the moment your 'destiny helper' discover you work there, they will lose total interest in you. Someone with prospects wouldn't stoop that low making peanuts when there are better things to do.

Life is unfair. Swallow this hard truth with water if you can.
You have a point...but this is not the way to go about it.

Let's try and encourage our brethren instead of talking down on them.

The guy is honest....wants to work....he has the first thing that is needed.....the drive to work hard...

Why not encourage him on the tips you want to share....let him see that he can do better and provide that guidance.

You may think 18k is small but to him..it's something. It means he won't have to steal or beg for the very basic things.

@poster....I will advise that you try and use your time (when yoh are not working) to improve on yourself. If you hve just ssce...you need to level up. There are good YouTube videos you can watch that will support this.

I want to encourage you to search for Matthew Ashimolowos Money Master series on YouTube (don't discard this because he is a pastor) and also search for Vusi Thembekwayo as well. Spend time listening to them...it will change your life. There is so much free content that will better your life on YouTube if you just search for it.

You will thrive more in more brain efficient task and if you are keen...there are people who will mentor you. Wish you god speed!

Poster - Your husband made a big mistake. Computer scientist actually make more money than pharmacists and this will be the case for 100's of years to come because we are moving to computing...automation...cloud...robotics etc.

The best solution to this.....I tell you....is for your husband and yourself to call that child....and sit him down....and apologise for all the wrong doing you've done to him.

Your husband must apologise for denying him chance to study his chosen course....for calling thugs to beat him up.

If you don't do this....there can never be any reconciliation.

Then tell him you are willing to support him and let him decide what he wants to do next and support him in that decision.

But I don't think your husband will want to do the above. His ego will be in the way.

I feel sad for this boy and hope one day he won't turn to drugs.

12inchess:
This my advice but the decision is left to you. You already made a mistake by not allowing your mum to stay with you and your wife in her final days. This was a grave mistake and that is water under the bridge now. But two wrongs dont make a right. It's now your mother in laws last days. And I think you should allow her to stay with your family but make sure to remind your wife that when it was her she didn't allow your mum stay with you guys. Your wife really needs to beg God for forgiveness. She too will grow old and become a mother in law to someone one day.
This is the dumbest idea. Poster do not listen to this.

Your wife already dared your leadership and was selfish and want you to be accommodating. If you allow it...prepare for more selfishness.
FamilyRe: Should I Allow My Mother-in-law In Our Home? I Need Advice by Vicas2000: 8:19pm On Mar 29, 2023
Poster...if you allow her to live with you. Just know that your wife already knows she can do anything she want and you won't so anything about it.

Learn to send a strong message that it's not going to happen and don't even give a reason.

If you don't.. Your wife will perceive you as weak and will do it again in other matters in the future.

FYI - you will be a disgrace to your mum if you even allow her own mum to your house.

Good evening all.
Please I need help most especially with my dressing.
Which one way or the other is part of self development.

I have always had this low self esteem most especially because some of the clothes I buy are mostly sub standard and high priced.

I work in a place that requires me to dress officially. But I shy away from snapping pics because when I see this pictures I look somehow in them the shirt doesn't look smark and even if I tuck it in severally it gets tucked out. Please help!!!!!!!!?
Hello Bro, I feel you.

If you currently buy overpriced but substandard clothing...then you need to do the following:

1. Change your clothier. Change where you go to buy these clothing.

Ṣeék out other fashion stores and spend time to just window shop. See what they are selling and if within your budget.. Then buy them...but make sure you try them on before buying.

2. Go to YouTube and search for 'Ashley Weston'. She is a lady that teaches men how to dress very well. Her advice are top notch and used it with great result. Please note - she is an expert in her field and has clothed many guys...so don't judge with a biased mindset

3. Follow Instagram handles of men that dress very well. Seek out men that dress the way you like and just look at their combination. Be intentional.

For example....Tony Elumelu UBA dressed corporately all the time and carries himself with poise. You can FOLLOW HIM to see how he dresses and just buy affordable clothing with same style and pattern of you like dressing corporate y.

4. Whatever you do...never mix and match your accessories. Ẹ.g. If you wear. Brown belt...make sure you wear a brown shoe and possibly a brown letter strap wrist watch. Never mix brown and black together.

Also...please don't wear red shoes or red belt. Any colour other than black...brown...or ash colour is a no no.

5. Also...to b safe...make sure your socks is either black or navy blue. Any other colour is inviting weirdness except you know how to combine.

6. Ensure your clothing is very well ironed and don't go out with properly ironed clothing. If you live in an area without regular electric...simply iron your clothing I. Batches...or buy the old charcoal iron as a contingency.

These are the ones I can think in my head for now. Let me know if you have questions. I am happy to help my fellow friend who need support and advice.

ur NIN needs to bear the new name. Then when you are filling the passport form. Dont go straight to reissue or renewal because that’s not what it is even if your old passport is expired. Your case is a case of correction of error/ change of data(addition of names)

For females changing names due to marriage or divorce, the process is different but also free of charge
Thank you Giselle237 for your response.

I noticed that the instruction said "a sworn affidavit from the high court". I am looking to apply for this new passport in London (Nigerian House). The UK only use a Deed Poll for name change and does not require a high court affidavit.

What do you advise in this case?

I need some advice on applying for the renewal of Nigerian passport (but with a slight name change).

My expired Nigerian passport (from 5 yrs ago) is with the name "Joe Bloggs".

I adopted an "Baptismal name" as a first name and got a British passport with it as "David Joe Bloggs".

I am now looking to renew my Nigerian passport and learnt I need an NIN and my old passport.

I presume when I register for NIN, this would be in my new name "David Joe Bloggs".

I just want to check if there is anything else I need to do in advance of applying for the passport because I know the folks at the Nigerian house can be a bit overbearing so want to be sure.

Can anyone advise please?

Trust me....if you are dedicated to your business....you dress well....you make money....and you learn to relate well with oopposite sex without giving your MEAT...your self confidence will improve and you will get laid.

The first thing is for you to see yourself as normal (even with hearing loss). Then learn to converse with the opposite sex in a confident manner without giving them your money in exchange.

Overtime...some ladies will find you appealing enough to lay with because you are smart...hardworking...make your own money and you have your life all together.

As blind as Cobham (music producer) is....there are many ladies that would date him again if he becomes single again.

I saw Cobhams in Oregun many yrs back. Dude was driving latest Toyota Land cruiser and his PA was with him. That PA later became his wife. Granted they have a child who is blind...but ...he is married.

Finally...May I ask...have you seen a consultant audiologist to check if you can benefit from specialised hearing aids?

I understand people see racism in alot of things but that's just them. It could be from an experience in their past. In this case, I can't really conclude the intent of the woman that asked her the question. It could really be that she got confused by the name and was just curious.

If I was in Ngozi's shoe, I would proudly tell her where I am from not only Nigeria or Caribbean but where in that particular country sef and tribe. Out of curiosity, I have also asked some people with Polish or Ukrainian name at work where they are originally from even though they are American. Some of their names are very similar. I haven't seen any one that took offence to the question. Some would even tell you that their grand parents moved to America in the 1930s or that there granddad still speaks Polish.

I acknowledge that racism does exist, but I always make sure that I have sufficient proof before I conclude that it's racism.
It seems a lot of people don't understand the woman's concern.

If someone says...where are you from...and you respond...and they are still disputing you....it's racism.

D'banj lost his first child under similar circumstances in June 2018.

A week before the tragic incidence, D'banj posted a video where he walked with the boy past the pool and the boy was staring at the pool with curiosity.

A fan on Instagram told him to cover the pool immediately because the way the boy looked at the pool showed he was willing to jump into it when he had an opportunity. The fan's comment went unnoticed until the uneventful happened.

You can never perfectly watch over toddlers if you're human. I remember swallowing a screw as a 5-year old under the custody of my mother. Luckily, I vomited it on our way to the hospital.

When that baby sees the pool and notices that anytime he wants to go swim you stop him, the baby in his little mind strategizes and plans all day to find the best time to run inside the swimming pool without resistance. The toddler most likely knows he can sneak out to be in the forbidden pool but doesn't know that water has enemies.

There's what is called Childproof designs. Even if you have the best nannies around, the best practice is to build Childproof facilities when raising infants. Just like bulletproof vehicles come to the rescue when human security personnel fail, Childproof infrastructure prevent fatality when human nannies fail.

This should be the straw that breaks the camel's back . Facilities that pose no risk to children should rank higher than luxurious facilities in the scale of preference of parents with little children.

My thoughts and prayers are with the parents of the deceased.
You are right on this. I use to dream about owning a house with a swimming pool. Now that I have the means, I have changed my mind on this due to having a family.

You can NEVER be 100% perfect watching toddlers. They have their own mind, all the time in the world etc. I remember seeing a child climb on a window on the first floor of a house overlooking downstairs. Thankfully, he did not climb over.

That day, the window was locked with a key and that key now kept under a bed, so that no human can touch or know where to find it!

If you have kids, never have a swimming pool. If you live in a luxurious house, hire a health and safety expert (they charge 10k - 50k depending on where you are) to assess your house for any health and safety risks and they will recommend what to do to avoid any issues.

So sad. This one touched me. I am not a davido fan, but as a father, I feel terrible hearing this news!
