Top-ranking lawmakers in Nigeria’s National Assembly said they were expecting President Muhammadu Buhari to submit a list of ministers that will form his federal executive council before or by July 2. The Ahmad Lawan-led 9th Senate would upon resumption from its two weeks recess in July begin a speedy screening and confirmation of persons whose names are expected to have been submitted by the Presidency before the July 2 resumption of the upper legislative chamber. A ranking senator told The Guardian, however, that at the moment, nothing is on the ground regarding the list of persons to be confirmed as ministers but was optimistic that within the two weeks of the Senate recess, the President would have submitted the list. Another lawmaker who just got elevated from the House of Representatives to the Senate in the February 23, 2019 election said that although the President is still within a reasonable time if he submits the list before July, expectations are that President Muhammadu Buhari would make up for the time lost during his first term when he delayed the ministerial list for six months. The lawmaker further noted that it is particularly very strategic and helpful for the President to meet the July timeline because the Senate might proceed on its annual end of session holiday at the end of that month to reconvene in September. He was however optimistic that within the two weeks of the Senate recess, the President would have submitted the list. The lawmaker further noted that it is particularly very strategic and helpful for the President to meet the July timeline because the Senate might proceed on its annual end of session holiday at the end of that month to reconvene in September. “I believe that the President should take advantage of the three weeks the Senate would spend in session between July 2 and the end of that month by ensuring that before we come back from this two weeks recess, the ministerial list is ready so that we simply screen and confirm them within the three weeks that we are going to sit before we go on end of session recess,” the lawmaker said. “Anything short of that would amount to dragging Nigeria back to the delay experienced four years ago because the Senate won’t resume until around the third week of September.” http://saharareporters.com/2019/06/15/names-ministers-buhari-submit-list-senate-july-2

![]() Yeye Bello is already a goner. I trust Oshobaba nah....He doesn't reinforce failure at all. If your party and the masses are against you, your own is finished already. |
![]() APC would surely be in a crossroad if secret balloting is adopted for the leadership of 9th assembly. PDP would pull a great stunt and it could be less of scruples on the part of the ruling party APC. |

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has dismissed the suit filed by the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and its Presidential Candidate, Mr Ambrose Aworu, seeking to stop President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration. In a lead judgment delivered by Justice Joseph Ikyechi, the tribunal dismissed the application for lacking merit. Respondents in the suit which include the President, his party the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) faulted the application and asked the tribunal to dismiss it for lacking merit. The HDP in its application said it will be unfair and unjust to inaugurate President Buhari for a second term on the ground that the validity of the election that produced him has been challenged at the tribunal. The party also prayed for an order stopping the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko Mohammad from inaugurating or administering the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance on him (Buhari) until all court actions against him are determined. The two petitioners said they are challenging the validity of President Buhari’s election on the ground of non- compliance with the electoral laws and have dully served the President, INEC and the APC despite notice of hearing of their petition against his election. They noted that the President has been making frantic efforts and preparations to be sworn in and inaugurated on May 29 by inviting the CJN and the general public. They, therefore, insisted that restraining order by the tribunal is appropriate to preserve the subject matter of their petition and rendering their petition nugatory. https://www.channelstv.com/2019/05/23/presidential-election-petitions-tribunal-dismisses-suit-seeking-to-stop-buharis-inauguration/

Supreme Court To Decide On Zamfara APC Primary Elections On May 24 Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) and Damian Dodo (SAN), counsel to the appellants, prayed the court to return the ruling by the High Court that recognized the primary elections conducted as valid. The Supreme Court has set aside a date to rule on the validity of the 2019 primary elections conducted by the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State. The acting Chief Judge of Nigeria would be leading the five-man panel that would be delivering the final verdict on the case. The case, which was brought to the apex court by a faction of the APC led Governor Abdulazeez Yari, is seeking to upturn the ruling of the Appeal Court that set aside the judgment delivered by the Zamfara High Court allowing the All Progressives Congress (APC) to field candidates in the 2019 election. Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) and Damian Dodo (SAN), counsel to the appellants, prayed the court to return the ruling by the High Court that recognized the primary elections conducted as valid. However, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), who represented the Senator Kabiru Marafa faction of the party, urged the court to dismiss the appeal and uphold the judgment of the Appeal Court in Sokoto. Ozekhome who withdrew a cross-appeal by Sanusi Liman-Dan Alhaji against Senator Marafa even as the panel dismissed Volume 9 of his reply brief to the APC appeals after it was deemed not to have proof of payment fees, also prayed the court to award a substantial cost to the appellants. Backstory The Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto State on the 25th of March, led by Justice Tom Yakubu had struck out the judgement of a Zamfara High Court on the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election that produced the party's candidates for the governorship. national and state assembly elections. http://saharareporters.com/2019/05/17/supreme-court-decide-zamfara-apc-primary-elections-may-24 cc: lalasticlala |

Emir Sanusi's own came today! I feel no sympathy for him whatsoever. The politics that gave him the crown deemed it fit to humiliate him by using some individuals with kolanut and tobacco stained teeths to water down his powers. An 800 year old emirate has been balkanized just to get at one man. They don't care what is destroyed as long as they achieve their evil and vindictive objectives. In their world, no tradition is too sacred and no action is too unbecoming. Anything is possible... The bill was presented on Monday, passed on Tuesday and signed into law on Wednesday. When it comes to settling petty scores and witchunting perceived enemies, the APC deploys supersonic speed and alacrity. They can exhume a decaying corpse just to get at someone. I have never seen a congregation of people so deeply in love with wickedness, division and hate. Even amongst them in the party, there is no love lost. They never congregate to plan good, only evil. I said it before and I am saying it again, the APC is too vindictive and intolerant to unite this country. They enjoy divisions, strife and conflicts. Rochas Okorocha should get ready, while Saraki should prepare for round2. Meanwhile, I heard they sent an emissary to Lagos to tell them how to end godfatherism. We all know who that message was meant for. When APC is done with their agenda, we shall all wear the wailing garment together... |

Onnoghen's Suspension Done In 'Shady Manner' Appeal Court Rules In a unanimous judgment of its three-month bench led by Justice Stephen Adah, the Court of Appeal however ruled that the CCT’s ex parte order breached the ex-CJN’s right to fairing hearing. The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal on Friday struck out an appeal by the ex-Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, challenging an ex parte order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal issued on January 23, 2019, for his suspension from office pending his trial before the tribunal. President Muhammadu Buhari had on the strenght of the ex parte order suspended on Onnoghen from office on January 25. Justice Adah who read the lead judgment noted that the court proceedings ought not to be conducted “in a shady or clandestine manouvre” as manner in which the ex parte order was obtained by the prosecution. In a unanimous judgment of its three-month bench led by Justice Stephen Adah, the Court of Appeal however ruled that the CCT’s ex parte order breached the ex-CJN’s right to fairing hearing. He however struck out the matter on the grounds that the substantive matter had been concluded by the CCT which ended in the ex-CJN’s conviction on charges of false and non-declaration of assets. http://saharareporters.com/2019/05/10/update-onnoghens-suspension-done-shady-manner-appeal-court-rules

JejeNaija:You have said it all man. Kudos to your reasoning prowess |
buharitill2023:Lol...you can't use Lagos a case study here. Lagos has been APC from time immemorial. And PDP is as good as dead in Lagos same as APC is seeb in The Enugu. But Edo had been PDP and it had established a bedrock until Oshimole came through court order to reign with another party. But still, PDP is not dead in Edo unlike it's seen in Lagos state. I used IMO gubernatorial election as a case study because of same structural square up of these two main parties as it's in Edo. The bitter truth is that, if Okorocha had supported the chosen candidate of APC in the recent gubernatorial election, APC would have won that election convincingly. So same scenario would play in Edo state. If APC wants to lose that State they should allow Obaseki fly another party. Goan Bookmark this post |
![]() If APC refuses to give Obaseki the ticket, it would surely be a walkover for PDP....PDP is waxing stronger in EDO as at today. And Obaseki on the other hand performed relatively well. So if APC refuses him the ticket, Obaseki would fly with another party thereby diving the votes of APC and PDP would be coasting to Victory even before the election. Case study: IMO gubernatorial Election ![]() |
