lrguru: No human being is indispensable, whether u are a banker, lawyer, engineer, doctor, nurse, security man, police, cleaner, cook, lab attendant, teacher, mechanic, optician and even a driver. Everybody's job is as important as the other persons own. If this world is full of engineers, who will do lab test or check our eyes if we are hurt, if everybody is a doctor, who will keep our money for us and take records, if everybody is a banker, who will design/make all our machines/equipments. If u are in the Govt payroll whether CONMESS/COMPCASS/CONTENDISS or whatever, if u are in level 12 step4 u are all supposed to be entitled to same salary structure whether u are a doctor or a Nurse or and Engineer. All this Doctor/ every other occupation dichotomy must stop, cos all this unnecessary demands are just over bloated and uncalled for.The way i see it, the only indispensible person in the hospital setting is the Nurse. Doctors can take care of Radiology, pathology, medical lab themselves. Doctors are currently specializing in these areas, soon there won't be any need for these people in the hospital. Cleaners and the rest are unskilled labourers and their supply is endless. JOHESU or whatever are fighting over a lost cause, their days in the hospitals are numbered. If i were in their shoes,i would be buying a JAMB direct entry form, it's only a matter of 5years plus before they become doctors themselves, that is if they are good enough to make through a rigorous MBBS programme. |
aztruth: I had a privilege of knowing two nurses who own big hospitals (medicare centres) and I also met the Doctors who worked for them.Of course, poor and ignorant Nigerians would visit road side Nurses for initial management of ailment, they charge lesser, and know lesser, if the ailment is Malaria and typhoid the patients goes scott free, but if the illness is but the beginning of a serious ailment, the clueless nurse would keep managing the ailment symptomatically until the patient is at the point of death and the disease process irreversible, then patient is brought to the Doctor to perform miracle. And then the Doctor tries his best, but he is no God, and the patient eventually dies, and this cycle keeps occuring, so the locals now come to believe that the Doctor is an agent of death, anybody taken to his hospital dies. So they keep visiting the road side Nurse cum chemist, who actually is the agent of death. This is a good picture of the challenges a Doctor faces in Nigeria. Reversible and curable diseases are not brought to him first, they are rather taken to the Nurses and Chemists, and only brought to the Doctor when the disease process becomes irreversible and fatal. |
Samakinr: ....what are you saying bro?...the laboratory technician is as important as any other person. Let the lab technician write a wrong report on your lab test, then the Dr you are claiming as almighty will send you to your early grave. Hospital workers irrespective of whom you are should be mutual. Some people are talking here as if studying pharmacy is not more difficult than studying medicine, perhaps a visit to OAU will convince youTo avoid such costly mistakes by the charlatans called lab scientists and university pathologists with B.sc, doctors with MBBS are now going into pathology and lab science post graduate studies, to displace those charlatans and bring efficiency in correct diagnosis of diseases by combining clinical and theoritical knowledge in arriving at proper results. Doctors are going to save the day, so chillax. Pharmacy harder than MBBS? Haha! Let me tell you now, at least 50% of the students who ended up studying Pharmacy, Med lab, Radiology, Nursing( especially male Nurses),Physiotherapy, etc. All wanted MBBS,but were not good enough to meet the criteria needed for admission into MBBS programmes. They all grow up envying Medics, and when they graduate, they end up envying Doctors. |
TechRev: Neither can doctors run a hospital when Nurses go on strike, or lab scientists or cleaners go on strike. Its a whole system that works only when all components are working.Actually, some doctors are specializing in lab medicine these days, it's only a matter of time before these silly lab scientists are pushed out of the hospital setting entirely, they know it,and that's why they are fighting tooth and nail. Only the Nurses will survive when the war is over, their position in the hospital had never been under any threat, which makes me wonder why they are joining the rest of the charlatans in JOHESU to grave. |
otokx: Let the consultant nurses, consultant mortuary drivers, consultant lab technologists, consultant store keeper, consultant cleaner etc treat the patients na. Its not by making noise in the name of JOHESU.Abi o! |
obayaya: Omeruo's development has been phenomenal.Nice article. It's no co incidence that whoscored.com ranked him second best performing SE player in Brazil so far, he is second only to Enyeama, who has a cummulative rating of 7.81 over the three group stage matches. Omeruo was rated 7.6. He will need to be in top form to help SE defeat the french. |
ndidibabe: Which yeye big boss? Had we lose the Bosnia match which we obviously didn't deserve to win, will you still call him a big boss? The problem I have with most Nigeria football fans is that they follow football with too much sentiments and emotion. Last Football season, Arsenal started so well and many fans heaped praises on them that they will win the league. Any 'reasonable' follower of football will concur that the team was so poor and were lucky to be topping the league at the earlier stage of the season because of their easy fixtures. At the end, they still retained their regular champions league play- off position. Same can also be said of our present Super Eagle team. The fact that we lost to Argentina in a modest manner made so many people to suddenly believe that we have a fantastic Super Eagle that will beat France. Maybe we have forgotten how poor we were in our two matches before the Argentina's match. Based on our poor performances, Argentina having already qualified must have underrated us and did not played so well. I can recall that neither Aguero nor Messi played for the full ninety minutes. Messi, while on the pitch was a constant threat and could have scored one more goal if left on the pitch. However, many thanks to Enyema and Musa for not making Argentina to disgrace us. Truth is that we do not have a good team and we are still in Brazil due to luck and the easy group we find ourselves. Unlike the Argentina's match which was of less importance to the Argentines aside topping the table, today's match will be a tough one. I will bite my tongue if this our weak super eagles beat France. The Argentina match was of less importance to the Argentines, that would explain why the started Messi,Higuain,Aguero and Di maria the same time in that match. Seriously, this inferiority complex you guys exhibit here is becoming unbearable for me. |

Dude, there is nothing like luck in making it out of a world cup group. As each team have three matches each to make it out, you can't be unlucky/lucky three times. If you made it out of the group stage,it simply means you deserve it, if not,it means you were not good enough. You are the one not being realistic here. Official Fifa ranking show that Nigeria is the weakest team in group F,as we are the lowest ranked team there. Finishing second in group F is a big achievement, considering our ranking, it wasn't by luck either, rather it was by doing the necessary things. We knew from the start that we just needed to win Bosnia,draw/win Iran to make it out of the group, and that's exactly what we did. |
greaterlove: why not this wayWho said that overhyped Brazil would escape the wrath of the Colombians? Haha! |
drlawizle: Nigerians love luck sha..we can never best France so lets stop deceiving ourselves.. Football is not gamble..This your post would help explain why Costa rica are in the Quarterfinals, while Italy and England went home in disgrace, abi? If Costa ricans had this your inferiority complex induced outlook, they would have been sent packing to San jose in the group stage. |
ogaju007: They had a lucky draw..... the guy is right. There are no Lucky draws in the world cup. If you do the necessary things, you qualify, Costa rica already proved that. Ghana and CIV weren't good enough, they on paper had easier group than Costa rica, but they failed to do the necessary things and were rightly dumped out. They should learn from their mistakes and stop trying to belittle someone else achievements From fifa rankings,Nigeria was supposed to finish bottom of our group,as we were the lowest ranked team in the group, but we did the necessary things and qualified. It's as simple as that. |
If you want to support Nigeria, then do so, but stop this your cunning subtle way of trying to console yourself for Ghana's woeful world cup campaign through trying to downplay Nigeria's performance in this world cup by chalking up Nigeria's performance to 'luck' and not to the team's good technical, tactical and physical abilities that have enabled her compete at the world stage. Thank you. |
bin gbagbo: please read my write-up againYour post was a feeble attempt at belittling S.E performance in Brazil,by insinuating that they are in the round of 16 because they had a lucky draw and what you tagged as the weakest group, and not because they are currently the best team in Africa. My post was a sweet reply,to remind you that Ghana's quarterfinal achievement last time around was as a result of the luck of being in a cheap group, and playing a relatively weak USA at the round of 16. I am only using your myopic logic against you. |
Ghana were lucky to have made the Quarterfinals last time around, cos they met a weak team in the round of 16, had they met a better team, they would have suffered the same fate the met at the hand of the Brazillians in the 2006 round of 16. Too bad that Ghana ran out of luck this time around. If the eagles beat France today, nothing stops them from reaching the semis. |

Segadem: Sincerely speaking I don't know where this rating is coming from, are they talking about pass to me, I pass to u, pass to the keeper he passes to u back, pass to d defender and that one passes to him back. No diagonal passes from him, no long range passes of 15m to 20m long, his passes make no single threat to d opponents, any attempt to pass a long range passes it landed on opponent head. I hate when many ppl say we don't have anybody who can play his role,so if Mike is injured now are we going to field ten players against eleven because we don't have replacement for him? Oga Keshi should just take bull by its horns and start him from the bench, this automatic shirt for our big pros is killing our team.Statistics are objective and devoid of sentiments, they might not show you everything, but they point you towards the right direction. Mikel, statistically speaking, remains Nigeria's best midfielder, and if fit, must start ahead of anyother Nigerian midfielder. If he isn't fit, then we must look for an alternative |
adaobi123: But he just seems to slow......odikwa annoying oAs a matter of fact, statistics from Whoscored.com shows the top five Nigerian performers in this world cup as follows: Enyeama- 7.81 Omeruo- 7.6 Ambrose- 7.5 Emenike- 7.4 Mikel- 7.2 Whoscored.com uses criteria such as number of tackles won, dribbles, pass success/accuracy,shots on and off target, aerial battles won, number of fouls committed to statistically assess the over all performance of player and teams. They give a better objective assessment of a player/team's performance than the bigoted and myopic opinions you get from other rating sites like goal.com. Mikel might appear slow,he frustrates even me with his sluggishness, but we don't have any replacement for him,at the moment, statistically speaking,he is our best midfielder. |
France might beat us badly if the boys din't get serious today and cause an upset... Keshi should please take out Mikel from this match, his poor passes is not needed against this tough European side.
Mikel's pass accuracy against Argentina according to whoscored.com was 84%, he is not top notch, but he is not poor as you people want to paint him. |
Emmaomotob: For first goal he takes the blame of not marking Messi another number 10,the second goal was the aftermath of Mikel's inability to clear the ball that lead to Messi's first freekick in 43rd minute before he got another From KING OMERUO.He stood at a very stupid position that even a mad man can't say why he stood there marking no one.So which kain marking, accept that Mikel is useless. We can stretch this blame game a bit further. For the 3rd goal,Ambrose was the culprit as he was found stooping behind his man, rather than competing for the aerial ball. And oh! Ambrose equally missed a one on one with the Keeper that could have equalized the match for S.E. |
shaiguy: This is probably the first true test to show the eagles are a world class team now. They need to beat france. You've got to love whoscored.com, everything there is based on statistics, unlike goal.com,where ethnic bias and bigotry reigns, little wonder they ranked Nigeria 15th out of the 16 remaining teams. |
Swagahyk: trust me, Switzerland will win ArgentinaWith Senderous and Djorou at the back? I doubt. They can't withstand the fire of the argentine frontmen( Di maria, Messi,Higuain,Aguero,Lavezzi). Though in football, anything is possible, but given the way the Swiss cracked when subjected to relative inferior strike force of the French, i doubt they stand a chance against the argentines. |
bboiabb: pls explain why most of the European countries are out. Pls explain why the main remaining teams are from north/South American and african teams..smh.The European countries suffered more casualties becos the gap between them and the rest of the world is closing up fast, and it can only get worst for them. |
Tunadez: Iran was a better defensive unit than Ecuador that the French couldn't break down. France couldn't have won an ultra defensive Iran Nigeria played, they have no Messi in their ranks, for that's what it took Argentina to break the Iranian defense. Nigeria qualified fair and square. No luck. If at all anybody was lucky,it will be France, Honduras with all due respect would have been ripped apart by S.E. Switzerland with a central defensive pair of Senderous and Djourou are always going to concede tons of goals. The only decent opposition the French faced was Ecuador, and they couldn't win. The French's group was the easiest, and now they over estimate themselves in a typical European arrogance style, it's time someone brings reality to them. The French are not as good as they think they are. |
ayukdaboss: I fear that SHORT man valbuena a lotThere is nothing special about Valbuena, don't fall for the European hype. |
I was telling a friend that the cooling break was a fraud by FIFA to favour Europeans, and the guy told me that my anti european and pro black agenda is getting too extreme. Thank God someone else noticed this fraud too,it only takes a politically sound mind to see the fraud there. |
So,now that they won, were they still affected by weather? Mexico strenght in this match and tournament were their ability to keep possession and frustrate opponents, their team weren't built for defense, the Mexico coach decision to go defensive was his downfall, he played into Van gaal's strenght and paid the price for his tactical naivity. |
Ochoa magic fades! |
Penalty! |
Sneijder! |
shymexx: Boi, it's not just the sun.It wasn't disturbing them when they won Chile, now they are losing, and they are seeking for excuses. Truth is that they are not good enough, the gap between them and the rest of the world is closing,it can only get worst for them. |
Swagahyk: France,Germany and Belgium will be celebrating they were not paired with these central/south americans...who's next? Greece?Hopefully, France won't be celebrating after 2moro, Keshi and his boys must ensure that. |
shymexx: The weather is definitely killing the European teams.Nothing like weather. The Europeans are just not good enough. |
