TravelRe: Will I Be Refused Entry To Uk by Vicjustice: 2:15am On Apr 08, 2010

About 3 yrs ago when i was in Nigeria i applied for Student Uk visa and was denial twice, The last time unfortunately, i used a fake bank statement due to the advice from a pal in the bank that too 45k from me and promised to make a bank statement with some millions in it.which i thought he could no because he worked in the bank, (there was no finger print taken in my application then for visa)

I appled with the bank statement he gave me for the UK visa and was denial , reason fake bank statement, i was give a right to appeal, but due to the fact that i no whaz up i droped the whole idea, the guy that i gave the money for the bank statement disappear,

Presently i am in romania which happen to be in EU and also a shengen country, i now have my citizenship because myb spouse is a romania,
The dream of going to Uk is still there , how posible is it? romania passport holders dont need visa to Uk,

what are my chancesss?
By my crude calculation, if your encounters with the UK embassy occurred about 3 years ago, then, your admission into Romania should be quite recently, perhaps 2 years ago. So, i'm also looking at the period of time that it took you to acquaint and develop a relationship with your spouse until marriage stage: Pardon me to be honest in expressing my concern that your story is not credible because, i don't know any country in the EU that issues its national passport to immigrants in such a short period of time for the mere reason of their marriages to its citizenS.
Honestly, i understand that you're not being generous with the truth.

However, Romanian (like Bulgaria), are EU states, but they do not enjoy the full benefits of the union due to their failures to meet the full required standard (mainly in the issue of corruption and the generated poverty), hence their rights in the EU are limited with restrictions.
You can enter the UK with the Romanian passport, but you should acknowledge the fact that not many black people hold Romanian passport, therefore, you might be subjected to scrutiny, and remember that the UK immigration can refuse you entry if they find out who you are: I hope your data with the UK authority will not jeopardise your identity with the Romanian authority otherwise, you risk being charged with identity fraud which might have serious consequences.

TravelA Nigerian Teen Stabbed To Death By Racist Adults In Dublin by Vicjustice(op): 10:09am On Apr 06, 2010
' The parents of a 15-year-old stabbed to death in Tyrrelstown, west Dublin, have condemned his murder as a racially motivated killing as gardaí last night continued to question two brothers in relation to the fatal knife attack.

Toyosi Shitta Bey (15), from Mount Eustace in Tyrrellstown but originally from Nigeria, was fatally stabbed in the heart as he walked through his estate towards home with a group of friends at 8pm on Friday night.

"They killed my son because he was black. God has taken him from me but in my dreams I can see my son," his mother Segun Shitta Bey told the Sunday Tribune. "He never did anything to anyone. All he did was play football, that was his life. Is it a crime that he is black? My life is finished in Ireland. I regret ever coming here."

Toyosi was one of six children and has lived in Ireland since he was five years old with his siblings, his mother, and father Bola Shitta Bey. He was a talented footballer and played for Shelbourne football club under 15s.

Yesterday, at their home in Tyrellstown, his family expressed their anguish and deep sense of loss over the teenager's murder. "Does black mean nothing to some people? Why anyone would hurt my son? This time yesterday he was alive and now we can never be the same again," his mother said.

A senior garda source said they were still trying to establish a motive but they were aware of the allegations of racism. Specialist officers from the Garda Racial and Intercultural Office are assisting local detectives.

Toyosi had been to a local swimming pool in Blanchardstown with friends on Friday evening. Afterwards, he was walking home with his friends in the Mount Eustace estate in Tyrellstown. He was in the company of two other male teenagers originally from Nigeria, two teenage boys originally from the Congo and two Irish teenage girls.

Two Irish brothers, aged 23 and 38, were standing on the street outside their home in The Boulevard, Mount Eustace estate. They were living in Tyrellstown but were originally from Dublin's south inner city. One of the teenage girls asked one of the brothers for a cigarette.

Both men then began to abuse Toyosi and his friends about the colour of their skin and called them "niggers" several times, according to a local source. A brief altercation ensued before Toyosi and his friends walked away. But the two brothers then went into their house and got a knife. Both men had been drinking, according to a garda source. They then got into their car and drove after the teenagers.

When the men approached the teenagers again, Toyosi, who was known as 'Toy', told his friends not to get involved in a confrontation and to keep walking. But the man armed with the knife stabbed the teenager through the heart.

"It was a racist attack. He was a lovely, happy-go-lucky boy," said Marian Salami, who lives in the same housing estate and knew the teenager well. There is a sizable African community in the middle-class housing estate.

"At first, I was worried it was my brother, he is a good friend of his. Football was his life and he was very popular. His friends are very angry. I have tried to calm them."

Korede Salami, a good friend of Toyosi's who was not present when he was stabbed, said everyone was still in shock. "He always had a smile on his face. He always stuck up for people. I think he was trying to help his friend when he was stabbed," he said.

I honestly agree with you, Israel does not represent a holy land, and (in the Bible,) there's no such recommendation to visit the country, besides, it might interest the poster to know that the vast majority of Israelis do not believe in Jesus neither do they even recognise him as the Messiah. But this said, i do love Israel, the people and their ways.

My friend, you might not qualify for the Visa Waiver Program even if you turned a British and hold the British passport, the VWP is intended for original citizens of the countries involved and not for naturalised citizens who might not have comprehensive reasons to visit the US.
Bear in mind that when you become a british citizen by naturalization, your passport will definitely indicate that you're a British Subject or that you were born outside the UK: A passport indicating that the bearer is a British Subject, British Dependent Territories Citizen, British Overseas Citizen, British National (Overseas) Citizen, or British Protected Person does not qualify for travel without a visa. A passport which states holder has Right of Abode or indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom does not qualify for visa free travel to the United States

I just had a discussion with a guy who works with a bank in Lagos who just came over for a holiday. This guy was denied visa in 2005 when he was sheduled to attend a comference in Florida. It turned out he was being scammed as the Nigerian organiser collected $1,000 from them and of course there was no conference

When he went for the interview the embassy found out the conference was bogus and denied the application. Since he was the first applicant, the others didnt bother to attend their interviews. He discarded the passport and got a new E passport

His interview was in January 2010 and he was granted a 2 yr multiple visa. No question was asked about the 'fraudulent' application in 2005 nor was he queried about the old passport

What does this tell us?
Your story is not the same thing as the story of Swatch72 (the original poster). The guy in your story doesn't seem to have had his fingers scanned in 2005, and he must have used a different data information in his other passport; that was very possible before this finger scanning era. But Swatch72 is using same names but different date of birth, so that makes him open for detection and the implications.

You stand no chance PERIOD! the only chance you stand is likely revokation of your UK visa and if care isn't taking adding your names to the no-flight list. I'm sure you are aware that ever since the mutalab saga the number of Nigerians on no-flight list has increased with the speed of light. And if you think you have to be a terrorist to have your names on the list, then purse and think again. Last yr CNN reported a case of an average everyday american kid (6yr old) and so many others who have never flown or owned a passport but had their names on the no-flight list either by data collection error or pool process. Once u re on the list it can take forever to have your names removed and u can kiss the skies goodbye.

Manage the UK you are able to visit or better still look towards canada. By falsifying your document you have permanently denied yourself entry into the USA for life as a primary candidate, if you like become a senator of Nigeria or governor in the future. The phone convo with the visa manager wont work for your case now, because even if u blame the falsification of docs on a visa agent how do u explain the falsification of your birth certificate?, infact that will make them add your names to the no flight list before u spell J.A.C.K. Ever since 9/11 visa process with USA embassies changed drastically. The VO has the final say to a visa than the consular chief. Cos' the VO answers directly for any visa issuance that end up becoming a disaster in the flesh of America.
See it this way, Americans seeing their land as an opportunity, cos they have tasted it first hand. They know everyone wants to atleast visit America. They also knw there isnt enough visa to go round everyone, why would they give their visa to someone with a tainted record when there are millions with untainted record waiting for the same visa?
Take responsibilities for your the decisions you took 8yrs ago and move on.
I hope you dont take it as being hard on you, I feel is better u can visit the UK than have your UK ability striped from you in a giffy.

However one process MIGHT work for you!!!, lol
Your wife wins an American lottery visa as the primary candidate with you as the secondary candidate, then you can now make that phone convo. But even if they still decide not to give you the visa or and add your names to the no-flight list which is likely, your wife goes to USA gets her permanent residence card or even become a citizen, works hard with a good record, then gets a lawyer and fight the system within the system! that is a 50/50 chance they might end up delaying your coming to America for 5-10yrs but fingers crossed! you might eventually come in, the down side you must have grown grey hairs before u enter, (lol)
You're entirely correct with this post. I know that he doesn't stand a chance if he applied for the U.S. visa again, not even after 50 years as long as there's this record of deception against him, therefore i've suggested that he meets the manager and see how he can redeem himself by coming clean. If he goes to apply for the U.S. visa, he will be caught and this would cost him his UK visa and the 10 years ban will be applied.
But however, theses might might interest him:
. . .Mr. Kaestner highlighted the strict procedures the U.S. Mission follows to catch and prosecute people seeking to obtain U.S. visas with false or fraudulent information, emphasizing that not only could the use of fake documents make a person permanently ineligible to enter the United States, it could also lead to criminal prosecution in India. . .
http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/pr051607.html

INA section 212(a)(6)(c)(i) essentially covers fraud related to efforts to obtain any immigration benefit. The result of a fraud finding is that the individual is "inadmissible" (not allowed to enter the U.S. or adjust status to permanent residence). Specifically, the section states the consequence of fraud or misrepresentation as follows: “Any alien who, by fraud or willfully misrepresenting a material fact, seeks to procure (or has sought to procure or has procured) a visa, other documentation, or admission into the United States or other benefit provided under this Act is inadmissible.”

This section imposes a permanent inadmissibility on the visa applicant so that s/he may never be allowed to enter the United States. Though waiver of inadmissibility is available under limited circumstances, it is important that each applicant understands the serious consequences of misrepresentation and is truthful on the application.

I disagree with this claim, if only you know how their computers keep records, you would know that the moment they type in the spelling of his first name, all other people whose first names have same initials will appear, and the more letters they type, the more the search narrows until it gets to individual(s) bearing same first and last names. So, they will definitely find out when their computer produces a name that matches his, and then, they will compare the date of birth.
TravelRe: Am Afraid Of Applying For US Visa Again by Vicjustice:
swatch72:
Hello Everyone. i am really amazed at the huge contributions I have been reading here since I was introduced to nairaland.

In the year 2002, an uncle of mine in trying to assist me out of my jobless & broke state then, contacted a travel agent who assured us that he can help me get to the US for a fee. We were both convinced he could do it when we saw other people he had helped.

He provided documents (work, bank staements, invitation letter etc.) for me and gave me a date of birth which I used in preparing my international passport, unfortunately i was refused the visa for false documentation.

Now I am interested in going to US and fortunately, my current status has changed from a job seeking guy back then to a middle management staff in a very promising company.

My fears now are that the US would use the false information i submitted then (8 years ago) to refuse me again as my full names are the still the same, my date of birth only change in the year of birth (the agent advised us then to use an older age so as to march my false job position), my birth month and day remains the same.

I have a new passport now with my real information and have visited the UK twice lately with it, but am afraid of submitting it to the US because of my fears that they might refuse me and worst still my wife (who has never applied to them before but would jointly apply with me as her sponsor) because of this incident in my past.

because of this i have been shying away from applying for US visa. All this happened before they started finger printing.

This is my first post here and I would greatly appreciate sincere advise from experienced people here on what to do.
Logically, apology seems good, and people who were caught in visa deception often render apologies, but in reality, such apologies are frowned upon or ignored: apology can not overrule a decision nor does it make a visa officer to temper with fundamental rules and protocols.
I will advice you from experience and not from imagination or expectation; and if you're willing to accept it, then: Contact the embassy and request for an appointment to see the manager of the visa section, and that you have personal matter to report (most likely, they will ask you to say it straight away on phone, but tell them you don't feel comfortable talking about it on phone) in that case, the manager might be glad to invite you in. Then, visit the embassy without applying for a visa. Once with the manager, then explain your situation and how you fell a victim of unscrupulous touts operating as travel agents. If you know that the meeting has redeemed your reputation, then, you may later apply for the U.S visa. But if you feel that nothing will change, then you have to consider the security of your UK visa.
Bear in mind that the U.S embassy believes that the previous (fake) data are your genuine ones, and that means, this current one will be considered fake. So, i do not recommend you to go and apply for U.S visa now, at this time because, the U.S embassy will observe your UK visas and they will most likely correspond with their UK counterpart to report your previous data, and that you probably obtained the UK visa by means of deception, and this will result in the cancellation of your UK visa with possible 10 years ban from the UK.

Chocolate bar is not a restricted or controlled substance; therefore, yes, you can travel with it, but bear in mind that even though it's not listed among the restricted or controlled substances, the cumstom officers have the rights to use their own initiative to allow or disallow anything they feel comfortable or uncomfortable with. So, (in the event of travelling to Europe) it is reasonable that the chocolate shouldn't be too big a bar or too many a quantity to raise questions

No one can really ascertain whether you stand a chance or not, but your visa application can be assessed based on some deciding factors, some of which will reflect on the questions below.
*What class of hotel did you book a reservation with, how many days did you book for and how many days did you pay for?
*What is the calibre of the person that is inviting you into the country, what is his legal status, has the individual ever sought asylum, has s/he ever been involved in a crime, what does s/he work as, what is your relationship with him/her, how much do you know about his/her current situation?
*How much (approximately) do you earn as salaries or wages?
*How long is your "service type contract" valid for?
*Are you sponsoring yourself with your savings?
*What is your age range?
*And finally, what would you be returning to Nigeria for?

A citizen of any nation is eligible for asylum provided s/he has compelling reasons for it and can prove same beyond reasonable disbelief.
It might interest you to know that there are lots of American citizens who sought asylum in Canada and Mexico, and also in European countries;  They are mainly service men and women in the U.S military who avoided going to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan: these class of people are automatically qualified for the refugee status under the UN Geneva convention treaty. But hardly would any country grant the refugee status to a fugitive from a developed and democratic country.
Now, talking about asylum seeking on the ground of religion violence (such as the situation in Nigeria), i regret to tell you that it's not enough ground for asylum. It is one thing when the government of a country persecutes people on the ground of religion, and another thing when some religion hooligans turn violent against people of other faith.
So, if you're fleeing from a persecuting government and you managed to seek asylum in a democratic country, you stand a good ground to be accepted provided you prove your case and you're not posing any threat. But if you're claiming asylum for reason of hooligans killing gentlemen in Jos, then, be prepared to answer why you didn't relocate to Benin City.

You're just an uninformed thief. It's amazing that in your 11 out of 15 posts, you claim to be a big time estate agent with many houses to sell, and you gave different fake names while soliciting for customers. Now you claim to have won a lottery visa howbeit without money to process your travel?
Fool yourself; a visa can't be won through lottery, you can only win an opportunity for the visa, and then you have to meet the requirement in order to qualify for the visa. How could you foolishly claim you won a visa?
Besides, if (as you claimed) you won the visa, didn't you fill a form to get the visa? So, what was your marital status? Now, if you claimed to be single in the form or during interview, then, how could the embassy have issued you a visa as if you're a married man thus giving you the chance to "collaborate" with a woman by claiming her to be your wife?
Finally, you haven't yet succeeded in sorting your own case, you're already conspiring a crime.

TravelRe: Pls Help! How True Is This? by Vicjustice: 12:10pm On Mar 17, 2010
easylogic:
There are very few countries that Western countries will be willing to consider asylum, Nigeria is not one of them.Even if you are from the troubled Niger Delta.Unless ofcourse you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that your life is danger.Unfortunately even if it is true,am afraid the reputation of Nigeria has suffered, and most shengen countries are aware of phony asylum requests by Nigerians.

There are a few countries though in the world where asylum is almost guaranteed:

1.North Korea - If you manage to escape the country, your guaranteed asylum in most European countries, though, most North Koreans prefer seeking asylum in S.Korea.
2. Eritrea - This country is run by a dictator who refuses any of his citizens to leave the country. Most UN missions grant asylum to Eritreans.
3.Somalia - Somalians also enjoy asylum privileges. The only problem for them is that they are too poor to afford a plane ticket to Europe.

other countries which might be easier for them to be granted asylum are:

1.Afghanistan
2.Iraq
3.Zimbabwe
4.South Sudan
5.Haiti
6.Burma (Myanmar)
I disagree with some of your claims, especially about the countries that are considered for asylum. Now, i'm not arguing from opinions, but rather from personal knowledge gained from personal involvements and experience.
Though, it's under the UN resolution to accept and protect citizens from war torn countries, but that is not the same thing as granting them the Refugee status; the section of this resolution article has a B part which states that those fleeing for their lives should seek asylum in the nearest relatively safe country. But definitely, that is not a country in the Schengen zone.
There's a big difference between seeking asylum and being granted the Refugee status. I was in Greece during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, before then, people from Afghanistan and other muslim countries used to find it easy to seek asylum in the Schengen countries (even though most of their applications were turned down). But after the 9/11 attacks, most countries (especially Greece and France) do not even accept their applications how much more to grant them the Refugee status, they fear that these Afghans and Iraqis would propagate their deadly cultures and endanger the lives of European citizens.

Thank you so much Justwise and Vicjustice for your prompt response.
To clarify issues/questions raised by Vicjustice;
I visited UAE with my family for holiday. I belong to the working class group with limited period for leisure.
If you visited the UAE with your family for the purpose of pleasure, then, i think you're not the kind that the UK visa officers do not want in their country. But to earn all credibility, you need to be in reputable employment or maintain valid source of fair income: and considering that you're travelling with your family, you need to be able to convince the officer that you have something (in Nigeria) to return to and ultimately, you need to have satisfactory evidence of finance to maintain all four of you: know that your application is likely to be refused if the embassy calculates that the amount of money that would cover the entire cost of the trip exceeds 60% of your total savings.
Plan it well, and drop a line if you need further assistance

Hello Nairalanders!

I plan to go to the UK for summer with my family this year for the first time . Will appreciate sincere answer to some of the questions below;

How do I start processing for visa and when will it be late to do so?
Every visa application starts with paper-works, and then, contact with the embassy to make appointment for submission and scanning, and the rest goes according to the embassy's procedures. You may start the visa process any time that you deem ready for it, but you must give enough time (between your application day and the date you intend to travel) to enable the embassy process your application.

Teminio:
Mine is a family of four, what is our chances of being giving visa?
Number does not matter, but reputation and credibility together with eminence and accountability would be taken into consideration to determine your calibre.

Teminio:
Though have not being to UK, but had visited Dubai, does that increase our chances?
Did you visit the UAE with your family or alone?
It would be more appropriate had you visited with your family, but still this might not increase your chance especially if you went there alone; rather, it would raise more questions because, you would have to explain what you went to do in the UAE especially now-a-days that the West declares red-alert at anything coming from the Muslim world

Teminio:
What documents do I need to present?
Thank you.
Present as many documents as you can lay your hands on, (it's better to have more than enough than to have less) because, the documents will surely be returned to you.
Warning: Do not ever submit any forged paper, if you do, they will definitely detect it and have you banned from UK visa of any category for 10 years

Teminio:
Hello Nairalanders!
Does it worth going for holiday in UK or is US better?
Are you sure that you're not talking about migrating rather than a holiday trip? If you're talking about holiday trip then, why are you asking this question?
Anyway, i'm giving my advice on the understanding that you're talking of a holiday trip, so i'll say: This is up to you, you have to make up your mind now on where you wish to spend your holiday to enable you make better preparation for a possible interview with a visa officer.
You would be asked to tell the areas you're mostly interested in, the things you hope to see in the areas, what you wish to do there and where you'd be staying etc. So, make up your mind for whichever country now

Teminio:
Please will appreciate any other info in this regard.

Thank you.
Ask more questions and you'd get more info

TravelRe: The Uk Is A One-city Country by Vicjustice: 2:33pm On Mar 09, 2010
cheaphost:
I've noticed that England is a one city country. London seems to be by far the most important city in that country. Almost every Nigerian that goes to England lives in London. Infact they tell you they are traveling to London even if it's manchester they are actually going to.

England is not like america where there are loads of mega cities. NYC, LA, Chicago, Houston, Boston, Atlanta, miami etc.
First of all, i want you to know the meaning of the political word STATE and you would see that it means country. Yet, it's rightly used in Nigeria because, there we have many Ethnic nations or states joining together as the Niger-area and subsequently Nigeria: Now think about the single States of Israel
The USA with its size about the same as the whole of Europe is not really an ethnic nation hence it's rightly named as the United States (Country) of America; so, it is not a valid reasoning to compare England to the USA, it's like comparing Washington to the whole of Europe.
And yet, England has a lot of great and developed cities for its size
TravelRe: Pregnant Traveller To The U.s by Vicjustice: 1:38pm On Mar 09, 2010
shebambam:
THOSE ANYONE HAVE ANY LATEST INFORMATION ABOUT PREGNANT WOMEN TRAVELLING INTO THE U.S. I INTEND TO HAVE MY BABY THERE AND PAY THE HOSPITAL BILLS BUT I HAVE HEARD ALOT OF SCARY STORIES ABOUT BEING TURNED BACK BY U.S IMMIGRATION. ALTHOUGH ITS NOT MY FIRST TIME IN THE U.S.A, CAN ANYONE PLS HELP SHARE SOME INFO.
At 21 weeks, you shouldn't be experiencing any problem with any airline, but you might face some problems with the US immigration: The only way you can get into the US is if the pregnancy is not obvious due to your body type or if you can hide it because, it's highly likely that they will turn you back once they know that you're carrying a pregnancy that has exceeded its middle stage; the logical reason is, you weren't given a (medical) visa (for your current circumstance) to give birth in the States, but rather, you were issued a visa for a single individual, and now, you're entering the country as two people.
So, take a good look at yourself in a full mirror (dressing in the clothing that you would be wearing on your trip) and see if it's obvious that you're pregnant. And if it seems so, then, try to get a special fashion that would suitably hide the pregnancy without giving you an odd or suspicious appearance. By careful measures, you should be able to get in without any incident afterall, there are some people with protrude bellies even though they're not pregnant, and there are others that look normal even when they're in mid pregnancy. Cheers!
