kood:Thank you for your concern. But it seems you've not followed the stories; my posts in this matter are written in blue in case you want to read between the lines. However, (like i posted initially,) it will interest you to know that UPS, London manager did inform me that "the package never actually left Nigeria", and that there was an attempt of deception by a UPS staff in Nigerian who used bogus tracking number to make it seem that the package arrived Dublin before it vanished. |
rawe45:Interesting. But, have you encountered such incident before, did you hear this from someone or it's your own assumtion? Anyway, thanks for the hints |
busybody20:Thank you for your thoughtful advice. Actually, i wouldn't have bothered about hiding personal information as long as it's not offensive, it's not incriminating and does not contravene data protection acts. And if you knew me earlier, you'd have realised that i used to have my NairaLand profile filled with my genuine information and photo until i was ridiculed; and then i observed that most members are unanimous, and the few that have (even their photos only) in their profiles are often mocked. This said, i really do appreciate your concern. *************************************************************************** UPDATE: 19/11/2009 After much delays and negligence, UPS eventually sent me an email with a "Claim Form" attachment in which they asked me to fill the "lesser value" of the lost contents of my package. It was a difficult and unascertainable assignment since the (main) lost items (being travel documents) do not really have financial values; so i was hesitant to fill the form until i had my solicitor's advice. It's regrettable that my solicitor can do little or nothing from Ireland since the shipment contract was not signed in Ireland, but in Nigeria. However, acting on advice of my Irish solicitor, i filled in the Claims Form entering the costs of replacement documents and then sent it by fax to London. Meanwhile, a solicitor in Nigeria is preparing a law suit for breach of contract and all other losses, damages, stress, expenses and inconveniences that UPS has caused us. Now, after sending back the claim form together with 17 pages of other supporting documents with my passport visas and endorsed pages, i received no acknowledgement regarding its receipt (it was as if UPS staff only care about the goods and services that are on course, and nobody cares much about the ones that have gone wrong) it's so bitter and frustrating that i had to put pressure on them in order to make them act on my case. It was on one of my pressure calls (last week) that a UPS staff advised that they received my claim forms and letters, and that they would respond to it this week. I waited all week until i rang them today, and another silly woman told me bluntly that UPS is not oblige to give me update of the situation and that they would respond only to the sender in Nigeria. "Very well, have you given him the update yet?" I questioned. "Like i said before, i don't have to explain to you what we are doing with our customer." She insisted. I understood that she was not ready to listen to me, and that she was the kind who wanted to stick to her supposed rights and beliefs and would not want to know that her other colleagues have been corresponding with me: her behaviour made me assume that UPS might have issued the settlement to the sender. But a call to the sender in Nigeria confirms that there he has been left out of the whole issues since the beginning |
buffnaija:Nigeria has far more than that number of criminals, from its grass root to its tree top; there's just not enough justice system to nail them. |
greall12:The balance of your account is not necessarily the main reason your visa application was refused, it is more likely to be the level of your wages or salaries as well as the transactions that are displayed in your current account. Therefore, do not make the mistake of lodging money into your account for visa reason because, this act will definitely lead to refusal. If you were refused visa for reason of insufficient fund, then, bear in mind that you're more of a genuine applicant than those who deposit huge amount of money in their accounts to enhance their applications. I advice you to give it up for now and then apply again when your financial situation is better because, as a genuine applicant you will be more likely to succeed than those who tried the money lodgement tricks. DO NOT LODGE MONEY INTO YOUR ACCOUNT because, if you do, they will definitely find out your dishonesty and refuse your application. |
Justwise, it seems you've been scammed before, have you? I asked because, i can see how much you hate scammers with passion, and you seem to be ready to destroy their business by any cost. Honestly, i like you. Cheers |
Coming from someone who uses Nairaland to vent about UPS. Abeg carry go. If you can't answer the guy, don't waste cyberspace gigabytes juhhhh.
I didn't mean any offence the way you've taken it upon your head to insult me, i only wanted to discourage him from these so called "agents" in Nairaland since he's requsting for "Anyone with cheap airline ticket from lagos to Detroit" in Nairaland. |
Damolux01:Is Nairaland a place to look for air ticket? |
^^ not really. Did you have to send the passport to Nigeria in order to get a Nigerian visa? Why didnt you use the Nigerian consulate closest to you?anyway, I dont know much about these matters, but maybe if you make an example out of the people involved, it will send a mesage to others or something. good luck.
I just wish you're reading between the lines. I explained that i do not use the Nigerian P in Europe because, i have an EU P hence the Nigerian P was kept in Nigeria; and that i needed it this time to enhance Nigerian visa application for some of my family members with EU P. The passport was in Nigeria, and i instructed it be sent to me because i intended to use it for visa application for my family members and for my trip to Nigeria: The postage was supposed to be from Nigeria to Ireland not vice-versa |
babalase:The embassy would not require your payslip if your current account demonstrates your regular wages. Therefore, YES, you can use your bank statement in the stead of your payslip: and bear in mind that the visa officers prefere and appreciate genuine bank statement with wage or salary details rather than payslips that are prone to abuse and fraud. Now, unlike most Nigerians assume, "White-Christmas" doesn't mean celebrating Christmas in a way the white people celebrate it, so, if you know what white Christmas means and if you know something about the UK, you'd rather avoid saying that the reason you're applying for the visa is to experience "white Christmas" because, it seldom snows in the UK hence white Christmas is rare. |
why would someone send a green card/schengen visa/whatever via mail from Nigeria? ![]() or indeed any country outside the west? am I missing something? ![]() Did you want it to get lost?
Friend, the reason i posted my passport (which contains visas and residency) is not the main issue: the issue is that it is missing by UPS staff. But if you're willing to know, i am a dual citizen of both Nigeria and an EU state, and i often use my EU P while my Nigerian P stays in Nigeria. But this time, i need it because, i'll be going to Nigeria with my family, and some need Nigerian visas; so i need the passport to enhance visa application. And besides, i booked our December trip tickets which cost over 3.500 euros with the Nigeria passport and the number hence i need this very passport badly. Does this answer your question? |
platinumnk:I get your point, and i see reasons with your dad. Now, when i talk negatively about Nigeria, some people will call me names, but actually, these names calling can not change my opinion that there's indeed nothing good about Nigeria, absolutely, nothing. You see what these criminal minded Nigerians have put me through? The frustrating thing is, my family and i have booked air tickets; and some friends have also booked their tickets to spend December with us in Nigeria despite the ill news about Kidnapping and armed robbery: But this event with UPS has raised more fear on security issues in Nigeria and our trip is in jeopardy: consequently, my wife has given up her interest to visit Nigeria, and this has resulted in our withdrawal of Nigerian visa application. Now, i don't know if it's in air France policy to refund ticket money. |
tunnytox:1. It is absolutely not illegal to post passports or any other travel documents, if it is illegal, i don't think embassies would be accepting posted passports, issuing visas on them and posting them back to the owners. 2. By no way would it have been impounded by the Irish immigration because it is neither fake, tempered nor abused on impersonation 3. Yes, the only posing danger which i feared is just what had happened: stolen by UPS staff. But, trust me, volcano is about to errupt. . . |
ybab:You're behind time, man. |
jay bee:Friend, the reason i posted my passport is not the main issue: the issue is that it is missing by UPS staff. But if you're willing to know, my Nigerian P had been in Nigeria. Ha Siena. Long time no see. How are you keeping, has your honey-girl taken the most of you that we hardly see your break-light these days? Now, my People, i bring you update of the situation regarding UPS and my package: After many days of investigation, the "tracer request" has elapsed, and i received a phone call from UPS London headquarters on which i was informed that "the package never actually left Nigeria", and that there were fraudulent attempts of deception in which some of their staff in Nigeria gave bogus information to enable them steal the content of my package which contains my (Nigerian) travel documents with 14 visas both valid and expired ones: and also bears a Schengen state permanent residency. And now, my brother, acting on advice of our solicitor has reported the matter to the state Police Commissioner who has promised to mobilise his men to raid the office and shut down the facility while the solicitor sues UPS for whatever damages caused by this terrible acts of fraudulent which has cost us more than i can conveniently express here. What amazes me is the way they deceitfully used a bogus tracking number which makes it appear that the package arrived Ireland before it got missing, but my Solicitor was keen to detect that the tracking number shows the package leaving the city of origin, but there is no indication that it was checked in Lagos before arriving in Dublin, and there is no record that the package arrived or departed any other European airport city. (where-as, there is no direct flight from Lagos to Dublin how much more from a city without international airport). HERE IS A COPY OF UPS DECLARATION FORM AND COPIES OF MY SOLICITOR'S PETTITION LETTER TO THE STATE CP:

Babefishing dating community, the ideal free Nigerian dating site. Click www.babefishing.com now! I don't know if i am the unlucky one or if such is a regular occurrence with UPS courier service, but this is the second time i am dealing with UPS, and each time, i experienced total disappointment and let down with their courier services. No need to narrate the previous disappointing encounter, i'd rather start with this recent one which began on Tuesday (the 20th of oct 09). UPS received a package that was intended for me (in Ireland) from Nigeria, the package was supposed to be delivered on Friday (the 23rd), but there was no sign of UPS, i waited patiently until i decided to track the package and subsequently gave them a call on Tuesday the 27th of Oct. To my displeasure, the customer service lady was neither apologetic nor polite, she adhere to her unreasonable opinion that "packages from Nigeria could take longer than 3 days for custom or security reasons", and that mine is/was experiencing "custom check". Her explanation was not satisfactory so i demanded to speak with her superior, but she would not put me through with anyone insisting that she had already told me what i needed to know. The package contains hard documents which was supposed to be used on Thursday, the 29th, so i was desperate to get it. An hour later, i rang them again and another lady answered: she eventually advised that the package had experienced "exception" by the German custom, suggesting me to contact Germany and know the reason. I did just that, but the German custom had nothing to do with the package, they rather advised me to contact Dublin custom. I obeyed every suggestion until i contacted the UPS in Nigeria. There was not much of a help from the Nigerian side, and i contacted Dublin office over and over and over again, and each time, i was on with a different agent who would ask same questions all over again. The annoying thing is, they just could not give any meaningful explanation of what went wrong, neither were they giving the sense of concern that something entrusted to them is unaccounted for, rather, they were asking me to do the enquiries about my own package. Despite asking for my phone number and email address which i repeatedly give them, i received no contact from them all these whiles. A couple of days later, i rang them again, and a lady prompted me that the package has been found, and would be delivered to me the next day which happened to be Thursday (which was the deadline date), i thought the worst was over and expressed my displeasure that they did not bother to inform me of the development: little did i know that the worst is yet to come. On the given Thursday, i waited all day, but there was no sign of UPS, and next day, i rang them again. The frustrating thing is that each time i contacted them, a different person answered and they don't keep record of the conversations that took place earlier, or what information i was given regarding my package, so i would have to repeat the whole thing all over again and new suggestions will begin from there. The last person i spoke with was a polite man (with apparent Indian accent), he took my email address and my telephone number and promised to personally investigate the matter and contact me; but until now, after 13 days, they still haven't contacted me. I badly need the document to enable me know when to book a new appointment. I'm highly disappointed at UPS courier and their customer services. Has anyone had any similar experience? *** UPDATE AS OF 04 NOV. 2009 *** Now, my People, i bring you update of the situation regarding UPS and my package: After many days of investigation, the "tracer request" has elapsed, and i received a phone call from UPS London headquarters on which i was informed that "the package never actually left Nigeria", and that there were fraudulent attempts of deception in which some of their staff in Nigeria gave bogus information to enable them steal the content of my package which contains my (Nigerian) travel documents with 14 visas both valid and expired ones: and also bears a Schengen state permanent residency. thameamead:How could any informed person compare Nigeria with Greece by any standard? Greece is one of the most secured, advanced and developed countries in Europe, and you compared Nigeria with it? Ha, you funny o ![]() |
yardis:Latvia is a recent member of the Schengen agreement hence any Schengen embassy can issue you a valid visa. |
9iceX:Don't be confused, though various countries use different words and in various representations, yet, they all mean same thing in this instance. Before i give lecture on this subject, it's mostly important to define the meaning and origin of the word Ethnic. The word Ethnic derived from the Greek word Ethniko (Εθνικό) which means: NATION. Now, the primary meaning of the word STATE represents a Country existing on its own with or without adminidtrative sovereignty. Yet it is rightfully used in Nigeria because there we have various ethnic (national) societies inhabiting different geographically demarcated lands joining together under one country that represents the Niger-area (Nigeria). A similar instance could be referred to that of the United States of America which has 50 countries and Washington joining together as the united states (countries) of America. Province represents the administrative division or unit of a country. This is the preferred word used especially by countries that have one people whose lands are demarcated by the government for administrative purposes rather than by ethnic or language factors etc. Province is about the same meaning as REGION as commonly used in small countries like Latvia. District could be described as a division of territory or a region of locality which is usually a subdivision of a county or a town. This is what some in Nigeria would refer to as "our area". And the word County represents the chief administrative divisions of a country or state, as in the UK and Ireland @9iceX, take flekan's answer, and fill in the state you are from. NOTE: As these two words require keen observation and often come under same subject, do not ever mistake or misuse Country for County. |
stevenolis:Visa "averable" on sale? You must be an auctioneer. But why are you selling it at an auction? Oh, you have more than one visa on sale; How much were the original costs before they got on sale? |
shollyaj:By Nigerian standard, you don't seem to be that desperately poor since you can afford to employ the services of "agents" with the costs for Schengen visa and air ticket. But by this measure of advertising yourself and appealing for assistance, you are more likely to be a victim of Scammers and thieves than to get your objectives; i can sense you falling into the poverty that you fear rather than being successful through this means. For your own good, do not respond to anyone who tries to contact you via email or from here because, 99 percent might just be thieves, and because you can't really tell the good one from the bad ones, i advice you to ignore every offer for assistance. Cheers |
flysh:Like OAM4J said, you should have found all these infos before proceeding to get admission. But, Why Turkey? Are you one of those who have the opinion that whatever country that is not in African is OK for studies and earning a living? You may as well look for admission in Iraq, afterall, it's not in Africa. I've spent a considerable period of time in Turkey, residing in Topkapi area of Istanbul. Though, the country is a charming place, but it's not encouraging in many terms. This is a country where i mostly think twice about public transportation for fear of Kurdish terrorist attacks on the local metros, trams, trains and buses. I was in Eminönü when a suicide attack was carried out by a Kurdish woman in Taksim square, luckily, the bomb detonated prematurely before she could reach her target destination. I didn't see the bomb blast with my eyes neither did i see the catastrophe because the area was sealed by Turkish Jandama; in fact, i didn't even know that such incident took place, it was later in the day that i saw it on TV: That tells how much one passes through the shadow of death without knowing it. Well, you may try Turkey if you want to live by Faith owing to the quote "even if i pass through the valley of the shadow of death, i will fear no evil" And as for job, Turkey is very industrialised, in fact, more industrialised than many countries in the EU. But the wages are not encouraging, and yet you might not get a nice job for reason of language knowledge. Most Nigerians in Turkey are involed in Human trafficking, drugs and frauds, but there are some who do (what is known as) shabu-shabu menial jobs. The term "shabu-shabu" is a Turkish word which means: Quick-Quick. This is the most common word you'd hear from a Turkish employer who has no other means to communicate with his cheap employee who knows little or no Turk. So it's in the interest of the employer that his employee understands that one will be paid according to the measure of his sweat and that lazying around nor rest time will be tolerated |

But in the event of money lodgement, the embassy might not bother to call your bank nor interview you before they reach a decission to refuse you the visa. |
dinggle:Under the international citizens welfare acts, no country has the rights to subject citizens of other nations to this nature of barbaric torture and humiliation which is deemed human rights abuse to the sensibility of other nations and by the UN in general. Therefore, your claims that the torture is immigration related is false and a deliberate assertion to attract people in order to draw comments and amuse yourself. Or, can you prove me otherwise, Mister? |

OAM4J:Most African immigrants in Spain have had their fingerprints taken by the Spanish authorities at one point or the other especially as they smuggled into the country, during political asylum request and during registration for legalization; And when crime is involved, their fingerprints are taken again for criminal records and verification of identity. Now, these fingerprints are assessable all over the EU states hence a member state is able to detect whether a person who is seeking political asylum in their state had sought it before in another state. Now, remember that the UK does not issue visa without first scanning the fingers of applicants, so by that, they will find out his past records and then correspond with the Spanish authority for details. |
ntutu:To help with the understand of your query, perhaps you need to tell the variation between your case and that of GaGa posted above. But at 24, would you really consider selling your prime pride to a 39 years old woman just to be around her? What do you need from her, Green Card? and what does she need you for, a jigolo or a sex slave? My friend, there are millions of guys your age, race, size and all other status in the states, so why would she be interested in you who is thousands of miles away if she is a desirable someone? |
going GaGa:I was talking about your connectedness with the lady, and by "Established Partner", i meant: association with credible or long term sustainability. Honestly, i think six months is early enough to compile evidence and build up an avenue for a ground of visa application category of your state. But if like as you said, she is an eminent woman of high reputation, then, she can send you an invitation letter, but the onus is on you to meet up to the standard of an invitee. You will have to prove beyond reasonable doubt how you knew her, who she is to you and why she is inviting you Produce evidence of your social responsibility in Nigeria (to guarantee your return) Evidence of your income with reasonable amount in your bank account Have adequate knowledge of the person that is inviting you and her activities Have travelling experience etc. |
nicola c:The EEA family member permit does not usually take long to decide, it can be done within a week. But your husband's case is complicated with the pending case, he should wait for it to be over and decided in his favour otherwise, it might seem he's trying to avoid justice: Or has it ended? Whether he applies from Spain or from Nigeria, in the Entry Clearance application form, there are boxes containing questions on Immigration, Travel, and Criminal records. He will be asked if he's ever committed a crime or been imprisoned or have any pending case against him. What is he going to fill in? Do not try to hide anything regarding what happened in Spain because you if you do, you will be caught and that may mean permanent refusal. Be honest when filling the application, say it according to the official verdict of the case and you may still make your claim of innocence and the miscarriage of justice as you deem it. It might take a long battle if the ECO believes the official reports rather than your claims and if that be the case, then, i'm afraid you might have to wait until everything is rectified or probably after a ban. |
