May God open our eyes to distinguish between human and spiritual matters and where they overlap.
Christianity EtcRe: What Are the 'Spirit/s Of Poverty'? by Vicjustice(op): 12:31pm On Jul 06, 2007
Well, like many of us agreed, i personally do not think that there's any such spirit responsible for poverty; such demon(s) do not exist. I do believe in God, and i acknowledge the existence of Satan (or the Devil). I've spent a great deal of time abroad and i've seen many countries, but believe me, i've never seen a European who's so poor that he can afford regular meals.
I began to realised that many people in Africa turn to God because they are oppressed by fellow humans, and poverty had compelled them to seek Divine interventions. But these Europeans (or westerners) are just too much that they often don't see any need to believe that there is a God.
Now, come to imagine a society where an ordinary sales girl or a shop assistant, a house cleaner, a house maid or a baby minder can buy and drive the latest cars and live comfortable lives. So, where is the spirit of poverty in the west?
Christianity EtcWhat Are the 'Spirit/s Of Poverty'? by Vicjustice(op): 10:02pm On Jul 05, 2007
Some time ago, i spoke with a relative of mine who used to campaign to people in Nigeria about the existence of the "spirits of poverty" and their activities in people's lives, he used to recommend them to pray and "cast" out these "demons" from their families.

And also, i've seen and heard people singing songs like: "Me, i  no go suffer, i no go beg for food; God of miracle, na my papa o!"
It was impossible to convince him (my relative) that he imagined there are spirits of poverty because he was in Nigeria. Now, at the moment, he's in Canada, and few days ago, i asked him his current opinion about the spirit of poverty. He laughed and said "nonsense, i don't really think that there's any such thing like the spirit(s) or demon(s) of poverty".

My people, there is absolutely no such demons like "spirits of poverty" If there is any entity responsible for poverty: that entity is/are the leader(s) of the countries.

What do you expect, some greedy evil humans (in the positions of leaders) are enriching themselves with what is supposed to be used for the benefit of all people, now, the people are so poor that they need "miracles" to get food to eat, and you blame the devil for it?

[s]"Me, i  no go suffer, i no go beg for food; God of miracle, na my papa o!"[/s]
Come to think about this: is it actually a miracle to feed, why are the Americans or the Europeans not praying for "miracle" for food?

Food is surplus hence there are obesities everywhere, so those who maintain slim figures are considered as human models.

The holy book says: "remove the wicked from the throne, and his kingdom will be established in righteousness".

What do you think, are there spirits/demons of poverty? comments please.

Angibabe,
You don't need a Fela Kuti (RIP) to explain to you who the indigenous oppressors are, do you?
This topic shouldn't only be on politics, it also involves travelling, remember this is a major factor that triggers travelling abroad.

A quick definition for independence is: freedom from control or influence of another or others.
Nigeria got her independence since 1960, but yet, a 47 year old Nigeria is still not free from her indigenous oppressors.
I personally believe that Nigeria shouldn't have sought the "independence" from the British because, in the real sense, the country is not independent. We demanded freedom from the colonial masters, and here we found ourselves enslaved under our own oppressors: the fact is, if we didn't get our independence from the British, our country would have been better off, and we wouldn't have been desperate to travel out in search of greener pastures rather than for tourism.

Why are our user's profiles full of fake photos, Why do we have to put cartoon or animated pictures in our profiles, doesn't that seem a disregard or an abuse?
Well, no offense to those of us who have such pictures in our profiles, but yet, i suppose it's more appropriate to either put your real photos or you leave it blank: and i'd suggest some reasonable measures of control.
When i was in Latvia, i was a member of www.frype.com, it's not allowed to put a photo that doesn't clearly show your face how much more to up-load a cartoon one.
Please, i don't intend to offend anyone, so, don't take it personal, i'm only suggesting; afterall, it's good to have idea of people you correspond with: and that would make things a bit difficult for those with multiple usernames. What do you suggest: Are you in support of this suggestions or against it?
  Honest opinions please

Perhaps these photos were of the Hurricanes aftermatch. These kids are obviously not hungry (they look well fed, well dressed (and they have shoes on), they're not suffering from kwashiorkor due to malnutrition, they're just playful kids excited at the demolition site. The USA is bigger than the whole of west Africa, so, what do you expect? Should everywhere be glittering like gold and diamonds, or you expect sky-scrapers at every conner? Respect America

Thanks for your enlightenments, it really helped. Actually, Nigeria is an ideal place for such business, we have more travel interested people than any other country the world over. I hope things go well both with your organisations and the Nigerian clients.

So good to be true, i'm impressed. But, are you sure it's going to work for visa applicants in Nigeria?
I suppose it is for those applicants in stable countries like the USA and the EU countries where documents are credible and where there are substantial social and economy ties. It is actually a good means of obtaining visas for people who want to save themselves the stress of going to the embassies (these people are visa worthy) they are visiting countries that their own countries are better than; and they will surely return home after their intended purpose of visiting. But i doubt it would work in Nigeria, i trust my people, the first set of applicants will ruin it all, they will even defraud them sad

A wise one sees and hear many things before making contributions or assessments. This is the case of the author of this tread Paribus. I can understand that this is just his second post, and from this very post, it's obvious that he's been quietly following all news, reasonable discursions and all useful developments even without saying a word: and now, he came out with a wise topic: People like this guy hardly fall into trouble that are evitable.
I hail you, paribus, you're a great observer!

Na wa for you oooo! Another one again?
  Sorry, what's your real name?
But don't you think it's questionable that you're already demanding a mere N85.000 (as "seriousness" fee) for a deal that would cost up to "three quarter of a million naira", even while you're advertising?
You don't have a photo of yourself posted in your profile; at least to make potential clients have a little idea of who they are going to deal with.
What kind of visa do you obtain for your clients?
And what happens if a client pays the N85.000 "seriousness" fee, would there be any further dealings with the client?
And if yes, what happens if visa is refused?
Your Benin associate who has been in Australia for 15 years, has he been coming back home, what's his legal status in Australia?
I visited the website that you referred, but can't have a clue that any Benin man is involved in the organisations. Maybe we can check him out in search engines; so, What's his name?
Perhaps you have to try harder, some desperate naive people could show up.

Everybody has his own tastes and preferences, please, don't encourage Joey82 to start or quit anything with the lady in question: he has to decide and work it out himself.
Nice Character actually looks good on ladies, but as for me, i can't marry a monkey because she has good character.
If someone is not physically attractive to you, then, don't dare to start a relationship with her because, you'll cheat on her sooner or later.

Vicjustice:
Dear Startony,
Though your case might not be common in tropical countries like Nigeria, but it's a harmless medical condition known as hyperhidrosis. And though your case (as described) is a bit of the severe type, but however, this condition does not involve any health risk, neither is it a symptom of any serious disease or illness nor a side effect of any allergy: just that you might feel some discomfort according to your sensibility.
There are treatments or surgeries or both for it, i advice that you consult a physician. Cheer up, you're not at risk cool
Startony, could you please edit ("modify"wink this tread and the title to help people understanding the content properly? Nobody is above error, so, it would be more favourable if you rectify the spelling "sweet" (to sweat). Thank you.
