ayobj: guys,Immigration officers can ask any question from "how much money you have on you" to "why have you chosen to travel to the UK". They can even ask you why "why have you travelled this day" or whatever. I bear witness that some travellers are detained in the "Holding Room" while the Immigration Officers make numerous phone calls to their contacts or hotels just to verify their accommodation arrangement. The fact that you were not asked does not mean that there are not more of other people who were asked, You better be prepared for any question next time |
FunW: Vicjustice, I need your advice.Absolutely, you can sponsor your husband, this is logical and is acceptable and he stands the chance as much as you do provided your financial circumstance meets the requirement. |
prayerful: @ Vicjustice...Sorry, you need one passport size photo. And yes, Itinerary means the document of your flight ticket As for how the visa look like; it could be anything from a Stamp-Form (with hand written information) to a Sticker |
prayerful: @ Sir P.. In that case.. What is the Visa Officer expecting to evaluate from the documents? To apply for a transit visa, you don't normally need all these documents, all that is required for a non complicated application is: 1)Your passport with a visa to your destination 2)Your onward itinerary 3)The Visa fee. But if your case is not straight forward, you may be required to provide Police report and evidence of residence abroad |
prayerful: I just called a staff at Virgin Atlantic.. He said that as long as my transit time isn't more than 24 hours, I don't require a transit Visa..That means, Virgin Atlantic allows Boarding Without Transit Visa, that is a relief; but remember to give yourself enough time (at Heathrow airport) to check-in for your next flight to the US otherwise, you may miss your flight in case the Immigration officer at departure desk required a transit visa of you. I talk from my companion's July 17th encounter. |
@vicjustice Are you sure that you can get a transit visa as a nigerian citizen at heathrow? I'm asking because I know a couple who had a Tourist visa to canada, and they were refused check in at lagos airport by British Airways staffs because they had no transit visa, they ended up flying air france. Please clarify,.
Yes, you can get the transit visa at Heathrow, provided you have an onward ticket to destination country, but your challenge would be getting a boarding-pass from Nigeria. In the case that I referered to, my companion was travelling with an Irish Residence Permit, and Ireland was the destination, so he can't be stopped for reason of the UK transit visa |
prayerful: Hi all... Good afternoon..Other countries do not require a transit visa of you, but conservative UK demands that you obtain a transit visa. Well, you can get that at the departure desk in London airports: you need to give yourself enough time to get the transit visa otherwise, you might miss your flight. Two months ago (in May), i was returning from Nigeria with companions and we were on transit in London Heathrow, but one of us didn't know that he is required to obtain a Transit Visa, it took a sluggish process to get him sorted with the (free of charge) visa, and the process almost made him miss his flight. Remember that Ireland and the UK plus the Isle Of Man etc are regarded as Common Travel Area (CTA), so if this could happen to a person holding the Irish Stamp4 Eufam Residence permit how much more would it happen to a person holding a US visa |
kennyGGG: @VICJUSTICE: I STARTED FOLLOWING THIS THREAD LATELY AND I MUST CONFESS THAT YOUR CONTRIBUTION AS WELL AS THOSE OF SOME HAVE BEEN AN IMMENSE BLESSING. WELL MY QUESTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWSUnfortunately, this error puts you in the category of "attempting to obtain the visa by means of deception", and the misinformation attracts a ban, i reckon a 10 years ban. kennyGGG: WELL I WROTE AND MADE THE EXPLANATION, NEVER BOTHERED ABOUT THE CONFERENCE ANYMORE.No amount of letter or the content there-in can change the decision kennyGGG: NOW I INTEND GOING TO THE SAME COUNTRY BUT THIS TIME TO STUDY.You can not do this if under a ban kennyGGG: MY OLD PASSPORT EXPIRES THIS YEAR HeNECE THE NEED TO DO A RENEWAL BEFORE SUBMISSION EVEN THOUGH MY OLD PASSPORT STILL HAS A FEW MONTHS TO EXPIRE. SHOULD I SUBMIT THE OLD BATTERED PASSPORT TOGETHER WITH THE NEW? I STATED IN THE FORM THAT I HAVE APPLIED BEFORE AND WAS REFUSED AND I ALSO MADE KNOWN MY REASONS.I can not encourage you to apply for any visa in this predicament, but to answer your question, you are required to use a passport that has (at least) 6 months before expiration, and if it is not your first passport, you are expected to include your previous passport (whether expired or condemn) with your new one unless you claim it is lost or stolen. kennyGGG: QUESTION 2. I HAVE SOME AMOUNT IN FIXED DEPOSIT WHICH I INTEND TO LIQUIDATE INTO MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT BEFORE PRINTING OUT THE STATEMENT. ITS THE SAME ACCOUNT I USE FOR MY SALARY ACCOUNT. WONT IT LOOK LIKE I AM PUTTING IN CASH SO AS TO HAVE A HUGE CLOSING BALANCE FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF GETTING THE VISA. ALTHOUGH I WILL BE COLLECTING MY FIX DEPOSIT CERTIFICATE.That is the exact definition of "Money Lodgement" |
Yommykixz: I am 24, willing to go to the uk on visit, I have a friend there that's willing to get me all required document from there (invitation letter, statement of acc...e.t.c.) all I have is my little money to travel and not the millions to put in account but my problem is can I use my popsy's friend as sponsor here? do I have to prove the relationship between us?Click on this link to read what you need to know: https://www.nairaland.com/967110/main-reasons-many-refused-visas |
NuNu08: tnxx vicjustice......what ¶m sayin iss that my cousin has sent ♏ε̲̣̣̣̥ Council tax & phone bill receipt 2geda with thee invitation letter i hav & hs passport page,,buh thee bills is sent via my email & i already printd Ȋ̝̊̅t out....so i askd if its aiii to submit my application now?It is allowed to use Utility bill documents that are sent or received by email or fax, only hard documents that carry security authentication or seals or stamps are not acceptable by email or fax: you can submit your application when you are prepared |
tinapame: @justwise My UK visa will expire on August 27th and i want to re-apply. Can I re-apply before that date or after? Thank you I suppose you are talking about a Tourist Visa... It is not done that way, if you are applying before or immediately after its expiration, it therefore means that you are using the tourist visa in the stead of a residence permit: which means, you are apparently a habitual resident in the UK using tourist visas in sequence |
NuNu08: @justwise.......my Cousin has finally sent his Council tax and phone bill receipts to me via Email......is it okay for me to use & put it in my application now?Your query is in Chinese. Well, if your application is pending ie has not yet been decided, it is OK to include additional documents provided you know the reference number and that the document(s) reach them in time |
dunte: Thanks for the comments but I tink ill nid to explain to you better still on fone or email. I will appreciate if u could send me your pin or fone number to my email for better explanation. Thanks as I expect ur response...aadesuyi2011@yahoo.comPlease, understand that there are vast number of people who come here to make inquiries, and everyone would have desired to correspond in private just like you; therefore, it won't be possible for me to send private emails to everyone. Besides, no one in nairaland knows your true identity, so no one can use your case against you: And ultimately, it will be more beneficial to others if the issue is discussed openly. I appreciate your understanding |
joy90: Hi all, pls i need ur help, i know i'll get lots of insult but atleast i'll hear the truth and be better.. sometimes last yr i applied for a UK visiting visa. I was still in sch then doing my MASTERS. I got letter from sch, also invitation from a family relative. Then i defaulted and used a fake(forged) dad's account cos i didnt seek his counsel. I was denied on 3 counts and i had full rights of appeal.NO, No one will insult you because, everyone has seen and read every case in the book .Well, it is unfortunate that once you have been placed on the 10 years ban, you can never be issued a visa (until after the 10 years) no matter how clean you came out and how impressive your paper works are, and i must warn you that you got the ban on the basis of the "fake(forged)" bank statement that you presented in your failed application even though it was not mentioned to you |
dunte: Thank you Vicjustice...if I must say. I intend to apply for my master directly cos I formerly applied to study another course buh now I changed my mind for my masters and not degree anymore buh den the new student visa is rili affectin me cos my sponsorer told me to differ till next year septmeber admission. So I rili wish to go visiting before den so dat was why I needed a guide if my visiting plans won't affect my future student application.thanks as I exepect your immediate replyExcept there is something that i don't understand..., But the rules are quite clear, every application is treated in its own merit and i don't see how applying for a tourist visa and genuinely visiting the UK would have any negative effect on your future student visa application. If you intend to travel for studies (whether pre or post graduate, degree or master), you go for student visa, and if you intend to visit, then you apply for Tourist/Visit visa: i really don't understand your question |
sizzlinghottie: Please @vicjustice and @justwise kindly answer:Things are easier when done orderly. Names and date of birth are the main identity of a person, so discrepancies on either of them is taken seriously. To be Frank, I don't think any explanation will make sense to a European who knows that it is impossible to open a legitimate bank account with casual or unofficial name: there is usually criminal motive involved in such deed in Europe and it takes fraudulent documents to create such account. Your cousin needs to sort out her identity crises before applying for the visa |

Bola20: Hello VIcjustice, I'm a student and I was granted a six month family visit visa last year August and I visited the Uk in December. I intend applying again this September and I want to apply for a 2 years general visitor using an hotel reservation since my Uncle won't be around in December. Pls what is my chance of getting the 2 years general visitor visa? Please, refer to my response on your kind of circumstance in the thread on this link: https://www.nairaland.com/997934/been-granted-6-months-uk |

golagoal: Wrong, Nigeria is one of the supported countries, I applied for my uk visiting visa using the online visa application processWell, Nigeria wasn't supported some time ago, and i wasn't sure whether it is now being supported or not hence i used the term "i think..." |
ayobj: My younger brother jumped the gun in the year 2000.he was helped by an uncle who was staying in the usa then with a fake british passport with which he travelled to the uk.he worked for a while but later had issues which he has not disclosed. The undisclosed issues are very vital for a "candid advice" to be given ayobj: Had a daughter with a british girl who first demanded money before marraige and then refused to maarry him saying africans have duped her and her sister for stay issues.Does that mean he is not a Nigerian? Well, i don't seem to get the point of these paragraphs ayobj: When I visited britain, his friends said I should get him a schengen and that he will find his way back to britain.Don't you think this will put him in a similar mess like before? It is not an ideal thing for him to be a fugitive in the UK where his finger-scans are recorded perhaps on a false identity, he wouldn't like to be in a Hide & Seek game with the authorities. ayobj: Does he have the 10 year ban being that he travelled to britain prior to the biometric era? This is not something that i can not guarantee, but yet, with my limited knowledge of the UK and Europe in General, i am of the opinion that they could not have deported him (on their expense) without a ban: and even if the false identification happened before the 10 years ban era, he can still get the ban which would take effect from the day he applies for a UK visa or the day he comes to the attention of the Immigration authority ayobj: Cam he get a 6 month visit visa on his present status.Impossible, at least, not until he is cleared of all these troubles ayobj: Can he apply to britain to see his daughter?Because he was not married to the child's British mother, and he is not the sole provider for her upkeep and maintenance, he has not been a habitual resident with the girl, he had violated immigration rules, he does not have evidence of being the girl's father, he impregnated the girl and gave birth to the child under false identity and he posses a great threat to immigration; he has no rights to the girl, and would stand no ground: only the girl's mother can help him in this situation, but it would take an exhaustive up-hill struggle to do the paper works ayobj: I visited the daughter and mother recently but still she has no job and lives with her parents. If she has no job, it means that she and her daughter are liabilities to the government, therefore, her rights to file a case for her child's father is taken away especially when she is not legally married to the man. She too has no ground. Even if he happens to be in the UK, the authority has every right to remove him from the country leaving the daughter behind especially if there is not cooperation from the woman who is a UK citizen |

jt2010: Omotier1, Vicjustice, Justwise and others,gLaD tO hEaR tHaT. Justwise/Dis Guy How about creating a thread for Testimonies so that anyone who wishes to share a testimony may post it there; and other testimonies that are posted on other threads may be moved to the testimonial thread. I understand it might be additional task though, so, it's only a suggestion, the decision is yours |
goldie86: If you have been granted a 6 months uk visa, is 2 years visa easier to collectGetting a 6 months Visa does not automatically guarantee you of a 2 years visa in next application, even, there are chances that you would be refused if your circumstances have changed. However most people are able to get a 6 months reissue (renewal is not the right word because, Tourist Visa is not renewable), and there are people who have been reissued the 6 months visa in multiple occasions because, the Visa Officers do not deem it necessary to grant them the 2 years Visa duration; and there are others who got refused because they applied for the 2 years visa where-as their circumstances are only suitable for the 6 months visa: This support the adage that says; sew your coat according to your size. |
Thanks I would be careful, but he was only part sponsoring me with 250K while I provided 150K. What I want to do is explain to the ECO on an additional sheet that my uncle gave me the money 250K(150K will reflect in my savings acct) while I have used the other 100 to do something. I hope explaining like this won't be a problem as I really need to re-apply by Sept, also I will state I'm staying for 1 week ( because I can only raise 600K by sept), though in my last application I put 2 weeks hope this won't be a problem? thanks for replying Hey vicjustice/ justwise n other visa gurus. Please answer the above question, hope I'm not being a Pest I've started reading from the beginning of part 1 I'm already on page 30,it isn't easy cos I'm using my fone, coupled with the stress of work, though I hvnt seen a case like mine for now. Thanks for taking out ur time to do wat u do GBU
The source of the money is not the main problem, nor is the accumulating method of compiling the funds, the issue is: the N350k is way too low to satisfy the Visa Officer, how much less when you explain to the Visa Officer that the money is a combined effort from yourself and other relatives...and that 100k (from it) has been spent on other matters. If you paid the visa fee, and purchased an economic flight ticket from the 250k, would there be anything left? |
dlinks000: @Vicjustice thanks so much for your detailed info and I so much appriciate. May God bless you all abundantly for the nice work on here but about my parents age, my last application wasn't done online so how do I fill that space when ever am ready to apply though am thinking not to apply again now but to do so before Xmas wheen my account would have been good to go. I just need what to fill on the paper or you advising I should do my next application online whenever I wants to. Cheers. The online visa application process is not supported for every country, and i think Nigeria is one of the unsupported countries, but the application form is more or less the same contents except for the process. So, when applying for the visa (in due time) just tick the "I DON'T KNOW" option on the Father/Mother's Date Of Birth. |
dlinks000: Thanks for the response.I understand that you have no intention of visiting the UK as a tourist, it is obvious that you desire to migrate, and from the bottom of my heart, i really do wish you the best of luck; yet, allow me to answer you according to how it is on paper, and by that, i just don't see how you can convince the visa officer, in fact, i am concerned that you will loose your money. Good luck, Man I advice you to read my post here to help yourself: https://www.nairaland.com/967110/main-reasons-many-refused-visas dlinks000: Also another thing is that I just can not remember the date of birth of my parents as I don't have a copy of my last application documents, pls hope this won't have anything to do with my application and what are my chances.Under normal circumstances, this is supposed to forever "disqualify" you, but you are lucky i have experience with this scenario. It is not a rare thing for Visa Officers to observe discrepancies in given Dates Of Birth especially pertaining to parents, so, they are aware of the fact that the DOBs of a vast number of Africans are highly uncertain. Some time ago, i made online application for a visa entering the DOB of a relative (something that i wasn't sure of), and the visa was issued. And then, on another application, i forgot the DOB that i gave previously; and i entered a totally different one: but at the end, i added a note that reads: * "Though i have honestly filled the form with as much information as i can genuinely provide, but the DOB of ******** is highly uncertain as there exists no national database (in Nigeria) to keep such records and therefore, in the absence of such, i would like to state that the DOB provided is not to the best of my knowledge." Trust me, the visa was also approved despite the discrepancies: i am arguably one of the people that made the Embassy to consider adding an option for people who happen to be in this situation; and now-a-days, there is an option of "I Don't Know" when entering a family member's DOB. Now, you can do the same for your parents date of birth, these visa officers are aware that Nigerians (like most black African nationals) are not properly documented: So, you can do the same: If applying online in the past, (when you can't proceed to next page without entering a date of birth) you could have entered a guessed DOB, but now that there is the "Don't Know" option, this is your best option: And remember to make a declaration of your lack of knowledge at the end claiming that the DOB of your parents are highly uncertain as there exist no national database to keep such record. Note: In future time, your parents may need a sworn (and permanent) Declaration Of Age in order to deal with the situation and to be considered eligible for subsequent visa application |
Well |
ayobj: i have followed the posts on this blog and i find it exciting.i howvere want to share my own experience and maybe it will help other applicants.i must say that my personal experience does not conform to most of the posts herebey posited.I am just wondering why you have 67 plus 50 thousand Naira in your accounts despite your 183k monthly salary. Anyway, it is logical to expect that a Nigerian who works and receives 183k per month will return home for his job after travelling abroad. Apparently, you were able to get the visas, not on your financial ground, but on your Work-Obligation and Home-Tie consideration: Not everyone is this fortunate |
NuNu08: @justwise please I need your advice Asap!!!!my cousin has sent me invitation letter and he didn't include his utility bills, he said it is not necessary because hs not my Sponsor....,.how true is that, and what are my chances of getting Visa if I applied without the utility billsIt is not because he is not your sponsor that he doesn't need to include a utility bill, utility bill is not a necessity rather, it is for verification purpose; he wouldn't need to include a utility bill if he has a valid Contract with Rent-Book with up-to-date rent payments to show that he is a Habitual Resident with entitlement rights to the address of the house that he is inviting you to: In other word, he wouldn't need to include a utility bill paper if there are other documents that confirm his actual place of residence: but still, providing a utility bill is the best and easier option for most people. Actually, i doubt he has a Rent-Book because, most Nigerians do not even know that such book exist, they tend to be contended with their house contract only And as for your chance of a visa without a verification document (whether utility bill or Rent-Book), the answer is: Since it will be hard for the Visa Officer to verify that your cousin indeed reside in the given address, it will be near impossible to get a visa with just an ordinary letter from him [s]unless the letter carries the seal and stamps of the Home Secretary[/s] |
dlinks000: @Vicjustice .... please help me out..What category of visa would you be applying for? Anyway, I'm afraid your 400k wouldn't be enough to satisfy the Visa Officer, beside, you don't seem to have a bank statement that meets the requirement or formats: Also, how much money would be left to sustain you when you return to Nigeria? |
dunte: Please can anyone advise me on this? I went to uk for foundation studies and came bak to nigeria after ma studies but yet to renew for ma degree. Pls can I apply for visiting visa? And come bak for ma student renwal? If you are only going to renew your degree, you may apply for visit visa, but if the purpose of your intended travel is academical (ie to write exams etc) then, you should apply for the appropriate visa, Student Visa: Visit/Tourist Visa does not cover academic matters |
