People were really angry at epsidoe 9. I couldn't stop laughing at peoples anger.

If the actor who plays Joffery is not careful he may be attacked! LOL!

Sorcerers Apprentice - Not a bad movie for PG fun, watched it with my 8 year old son and he loved it. It kept me with it.

This is the kind of film you do not need to take your brains with you to the cinema, pleasant diversion for 90 mins. 5.5/10

Pennywise:
'Date Night' last night on DSTV. Great film. 2010. No recognizable name. Highly recommended.
No recognizable names?
Is that not the film with Steve Carrell, Tina Fey and Mark Wahlberg?
About a couple mistaken for someone else because they took a reservation belonging to someone else?

The AVP's movies were a lost opportunity

If they read the original AVP comic and just filmed that, it would have been 1000% better, that comic was hardcore but no Hollywood must do their own stupid thing.

Nonsense.

Not fair! It is not out in the UK and I have no one travelling from the states!

I need to get that and the Thor son of asgard films.

@Topic

Unthinkable, a very strange movie about Torture. Strong performance from Michael Sheen and weak one from Samuel L Jackson.
It seems that the moral of the story is that when the chips are down there are no good guys or bad guys.
People will do the most descipable things if motivated enough.
Very disturbing

Kung Fu Panda 2 - Po was awesome as usual, not quite as good as the first but not bad at all. I give it a 7.5/10

28 Weeks Later - Enjoyed it while watching it but how it ended was a bit meh. The whole military seemed stupid. Why let people in when the whole country has not been cleaned? Why was there no guards on an infected woman? Why did that idiot fly them to france? I give it on reflection 5.5/10

Firm - Good old fashioned english movie about football firms, it focused on the relationships more than the fights. Not bad at all moreso because I did not expect that tone from the film. I give it 6/10

What a great film watching day! Great when the kids are not around. grin grin grin

MI 2 better than the original?

None of the sequels to Mission Impossible have matched the first one, not even close.

jeez.
TV/MoviesRe: Which Is Your Favorite Genre Of Movies? by Vieira(m): 5:38pm On Jun 09, 2011
Sci-Fi is my favourite (this includes Superhero movies as well).
LiteratureRe: Do Nigerians Read/Buy Comic Books? by Vieira(m): 5:34pm On Jun 09, 2011
Lets be very clear even in the US and the UK comic reading is on the decline among children, it is more and more an older audeince buying comics, why?

1. Comics are very expensive now, the average price is £3 in the uk for a comic you'll read in about 5-10 minutes.

2. DC and Marvel got into the habit of multiple titles for the same character and numerous crossovers, making it even more expensive

3. Game Playing / Internet has taken over as the thing of interest for the current crop of kids and this has been true for many a year now.

4. The writers of the popular comics seem to have realised that their audience are growing up and hence they write more mature storylines aimed at the these adults but leave nothing behind for the kids. Recently due to the success of the Cartoons, they are now printing comics aimed at kids like Young Justice, Tiny Titans etc.

With all of these factors, walk into a comic shop or even better a comic convention and see who the crowd is made of.
Not Kids.

Iyineda:
Idie is from the fictional city of "Oyo" in Delta State (South South).

And she is only 14 and murdered both her parents because she couldn't control her supernatural ice and fire powers. Of course you'd expect her to be insecure.
That is just bad research. Why would you create a fictional city with the same name as an actual city? Plus give it a yoruba name but place it in Ibo territory? Quick use of wikipedia should have been able to supply a real ibo town to use.
Anyway a minor gripe.

But in terms of her attitude, it goes beyond her tragic origins. Her reaction to Kitty because she is not married but having sex is too extreme for a nigerian even a born again one.

Try Idie Okonkwo, a Nigerian mutant from X-Men Generation Hope.
I wish she was written with more Confidence, we naija people are not that insecure.

(also why did they change her to Ibo, I am sure she was first located in Oyo town?)

Hulk vs the Army on the university campus on the second Hulk movie. That was awesome.

Spider-man vs Dr. Octopus in Spider-man 2, best Superhero fight ever.

Nightcrawler vs Secret Service in the beginning of X-Men 2, great intro to the character

I wish you luck, go for it.
You might want to look at your demographic again, check out who actually reads comics in today's age.

If done well, yes.
But don't get too caught up in fighting against the Eurocentric view, present your view and let it stand on it's own.

Just dance because the plot is pathetic
TV/MoviesRe: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Vieira(m): 1:44pm On Jun 04, 2011
Rag, that is my point exactly. I watched two episodes of Sanctuary and gave up as I thought it was absolute crap and yet it did not get cancelled! Where is the justice?
TV/MoviesRe: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Vieira(m): 7:41am On Jun 04, 2011
grin

So really all these cancellations are Ragdollz fault! Na him no gree watch the shows.
TV/MoviesRe: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Vieira(m): 5:48pm On Jun 03, 2011
ragdollz,

you are absolutely correct, what I was trying to say was that sometimes a crap show will get great ratings and hence be kept where a quality one may not catch the right audience.

In the past some stations used to have patience and give it at least two years but not anymore!

Look at the Office, it was not an instant hit but grew and got a massive following.

Some shows do not hit the mark till at least season two or three, you at Seinfeld.

Nowadays Seinfeld would have been axed longest time.

I have learnt my lessons and will now avoid shows from the US corporations unless HBO or maybe Starz, they seem to give their shows a chance

ragdollz:
Re: The Event being cancelled, why am I not surprised? I knew it was crap by ep03. Underwood was badly cast; that was not a role for him. He has to learn to start picking wisely. And the story line: junk.

Just seen a bit of Spartacus, season two. Loads of long-winded dialogue and rutty blood/sex scenes, but virtually no discernable plot. Season one was waaaay better.

Watching Sanctuary. Hope it makes good.
I loved the Event and am relly upset it was cancelled, I thought the cast were prefect. Cancellation of series nowadays has nothing to do with the quality of the show rather more to do with ratings.
Smallville was crap for years and was not cancelled and yet more superior shows have got canned like SGU, NOF, Event, Caprica etc.

I'll just give a brief synopsis. Its a Japanese film anyway. After the death of his wife, a guy meets a girl through a fake movie audition he organized with a friend. The guy thinks this girl is the one not knowing she's a sick and twisted psycopath.

There's an extremely graphic scene where the girl uses a piano string to cut off the guy's foot.
cool, never heard of this.
Your description of the foot scene reminds me of the scene by Kathy Bates in a Stephen King movie, Misery I think it was called where she knobbles her prisoner with a hammer. that was disturbing
