From all indications, Joey boy has shown himself to be capable of authority.

As opposed to what many think, the dude is not influenced by Obasanjo or IBB, if you really think this is the case, pray tell why you think so?

So far, the dude has implemented changes authoritatively without much party influence, such as in the case when the ministers were sacked.

For as many that expect him to just jump ahead and implement changes, i'd say you are wrong to think that such methods are the best procedures in Nigeria. Many are not happy with his emergence as the acting president, and it is only logical to believe that some of these godfathers are willing to give him a rope to hang himself, it is therefore necessary for him to take careful and calculative steps.

Being slow to act is not foolishness, it only means you are considering a million things others aren't.

Atta Joey Boy!

There is a small space down the page, beside it you'd see a search buttton.

Now, if you type your topic in that space, and you move your cursor over to the search button, a single click will bring out a million previous topics of this kind that has been discussed on Nairaland.

with that, you really can knock yourself out all you want!

The Ipad is another apple product for computer illiterate idíots, the stuff would have been complete if it came with a free dummy guide.

so imagine reading my email that has a link in it and I want to follow the link,. . . . . no well you see you can't just do that the iPad can only do one thing at a time.
ComputersRe: Ipad: My Ideal Computer by violent(m): 11:44pm On Apr 05, 2010
The Ipad is really nothing but a really big Iphone without the call and message feature.

and to think the crap comes with a maximum of 60 Gig memory is far from being motivating, . . .and what were they thinking to have omitted a USB function?. . .most stuffs have one these days!

I'd bet my last dollar that Microsoft will beat this dudes down with its new "courier tablet"

Apple sure got it wrong this time!

Jobs/VacanciesNetwork Your Way Into Hidden Job Markets by violent(op): 4:08pm On Apr 05, 2010
Following loads of comical replies i found on this thread. .  https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-416598.0.html . . , i am compelled to open a new thread which attempts to replicate what the initial poster probably had in mind.

Stemming from an upsurge in the number of employees who loose their jobs on a daily basis, as well as an ever increasing number of graduates that flow into the labour market on a yearly basis, the situation regarding Jobs and employment has gone beyond ridiculous to pathetic.

With about 504682 members on Nairaland {as at the time this thread is opened}, i believe members without the so much required "connection", which is normally a requisite for Job openings will be able to network their way into "hidden" job markets.

To do this, it is required that Nairaland Job seekers reply this thread with a short Resume in the following format for easy perusal by likely employers.

Degree Qualification :

Years of experience:

Other Professional Qualifications:

Computing and Language skills:
CareerRe: The Reality Of Overqualification - Are People Getting Overqualified? by violent(m): 4:03pm On Apr 05, 2010
^^

You are quiet right!

But the reality is that most companies will like to enjoy a good mix of both qualifications and experience. so i'd say why not get the two?

There are certain job responsibilities even at junior positions that cannot be easily handled by graduates as their scope of work does not cover such, besides, it is easier to train someone with an extensive knowledge in a field than someone without.

A Phd holder who focussed on Mergers and Acquisition for example is 10 times likely to start contributing to your business in the first 3 months than someone straight out of college.

Besides, graduating with a Phd means that you have spent the last 3 to four years working and researching extensively, comparing scenarios, studying lots of problems and solutions on a certain field, and as such asserts you as an authority in that field.

cheesy

how did you end up at passing the night with the police inmates?

what events led to your arrest?

I heard the inmates are always hostile to newbies like you, cheesy how true is it?
CareerRe: The Reality Of Overqualification - Are People Getting Overqualified? by violent(m): 3:11pm On Apr 05, 2010
I believe many organisations require certain levels of qualifications for their image branding rather than for the specific skills they claim to posses.

For example, a Bsc holder with 10 years of work experience is more likely to get the job done than a CFA holder with 3 years or a Phd holder with 2 years work experience.

However, even with the knowledge of this, companies want and are really proud to display the folks with lots of academic qualifications on their board.

They want to be able to say.

Dr Violent Hammersmith. MBA, CFA.

rather than a

Mr Violent Hammersmith Bsc {Hons}.

The former builds the company image and also projects confidence to potential investors.  An investor is more likely to give his, money to the former rather than the later even though the later has a lot of experience.

Besides, someone with professional qualifications is much more likely to adapt rapidly to changing conventions, contribute theoretical knowledge from years of vast academic research as well as learn faster than someone with the work experience or without the said professional qualifications.

Employers see newbies as the future directors of the company, therefore it is necessary to ensure that they have the right qualifications, knowledge as well as passion to do so.  How best can you project passion for a particular field than having a doctorate degree in the field?

They are not only concerned about whether you are fit for the job now, they want to be sure that you will be fit for the job in another 15 years even with a wild rapid changing convention.

There aren't laws against accidental discharge in Nigeria yet!

A word they say is enough for the unwise!

buh if there happened to be any encounter turned manhandling and you happen to come out of it alive, that might just mean a whopping 100 million naira from law suits depending on how good your lawyer is, but again, this is only in 1 in a million daily cases- - - and there aren't up to a million daily cases in the country, do the maths!

yeswecan:
Yaradua is far batter than Jonathan, at least he released himself from the grip of OBJ . . the return of Ribadu signifies OBJ's return . .
Seriously?

Health wise?- - Hell NO!

Policy wise?- - - Yaradua does not have the gut to make decision changing policies that conflicts with the party's mandate, he has to worship the likes of James Ibori and Aondoakaa

Developments?- - - ah!, Yaradua handed us an illusory 7 point agenda, and he watched while politicians continued to milk the nation dry, every little bit of confidence and hope we had towards a corrupt free government eroded under his watch.

Security?- - - The nation witnessed more blood shed and killings under the Yaradua's administration. Thugs in the Niger Delta were offered amnesty as well as fat monthly allowances for doing nothing at tax payers expense.

Many more will take the James Ibori approach,
other confident ones will turn neighbors with Bode George!

PoliticsRe: Corps Members In Lagos Get 400% Pay Rise by violent(m): 12:18am On Apr 05, 2010
Its a really good development.

I really don't understand what people try to explain when they say "they are only doing it for one year, and its a non profit job". . .of course its a non profit job, but how do you expect someone to serve when they are not properly motivated.

Little should one wonder, why many corp members run from government establishment, of course they will, if GTB is paying Corpers 55k, and some public school is paying 5k, where will you rather be. . . . and pls don't throw the "you are serving your fatherland card". . .the first question successful people ask is What is in it for me.

This will of course definitely increase the competition amongst would be corp members to get their postings to Lagos

Let's stop deceiving ourselves.

There are sexually motivating posters everywhere.

No movie in Hollywood is complete without a sexual scene.

Most music videos have some girl shaking bootay.

How many of such stuffs do we really intend to ban?

And to think kids of these days do not know what their sexual organs are meant for other than "wee wee" is nothing but ignorance
