all4naija: Does Hamas represent the Palestinian people?

Hamas won 76 of 132 seats Palestine parliament. What does it take to represent the Palestinian people?

TroGunn:

God has nothing to do with conflict. It's about a well armed nation fighting terrorism in its backyard, end of. Whatever Hamas's problem is, firing rockets into civillian population is wrong and it will only lose it what little sympathy people might have for their cause. Israel, likely would not have retaliated, had Hamas not made it their favorite pastime to fire rockets into Israel. The Arabs make a mess of their case with terrorism.

Your double standard is more than irritable. Israel is not a terrorist since they only bullied people and stole their lands from them....but when those people fight back, then they are the terrorists?

Why is the world this cruel?

It is so strange people are talking about the right to self defense. The rights of whom? The self defense of whom? of the oppressed? The rights of the people whose lands have been taking away from them? The rights of the besieged....of course not!...We are talking about the right to self defense of the most sophisticated military in the region against those who have managed to produce pipe rockets in their garages. Such huge shameless double standards. The world has plunge deeply into abyss. People now have an empty space in the place of a conscience.

What the world is telling Hamas is to keep quiet. The world is telling them they don't have any rights, they must keep calm and give in to oppression. The right to self defense is that of Israel not of Hamas. Israel is free to grab more lands, but Hamas must shut up in pain, because any fight they put up will be labelled terrorism and Israel will be given the rights to kill their children at will.

Geez!!

Stop spewing rubbish! Who told you that hamas is poorly armed. How did they get the rockets? Stop decieving yourself. Every war has its consequences and the palestinians are facing theirs. If they know that Israel is more equipped than they are, why fire rockets at them? Why not put pressure on the international community. The gaza strip that Israel gave to them, was it got by their firing rockets into Israel? Don't be a hypocrite.

Yeah they have a couple of rockets, some stones, a few guns, probably even some helicopters and i bet that measures up as being well armed?

Put pressure on International community? LOL!!! are you smoking canabis plus sugar? which international community? the ones who are friends with Israel? How many times have the United States vetoed a resolution condemning Israel's actions?

Phew!

dnawah: what kind of chritian are u?please pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Shut up!

I'm a Christian as well and I can't be fooled!

It's folly to pray for a country that is well armed with the most advanced technology and a nuclear firepower in a conflict against a poorly armed group.

Hamas are not the one who stole Israel's land...they are the ones asking for their land to be returned back to them, and you want us to pray for the peace of the scavenger? You are foolish!

God cannot be mocked. Supporting evil in the name of God makes you little different from Boko Haram.

Regardless of what the outcome of this war may be, Israel has every reason to be very worried. While Israeli politicians claim that the sole objective of this conflict is to thoroughly diminish Hamas ability of striking the Jewish state in the future, one couldn't but wonder at the effectiveness of this strategy. Hamas has shown some resilience, the harder you strike them, the more they emerge with new offensive weapons. While they are the clear losers in terms of body bag count, the psychological effect they have on Israel couldn't be ignored.

Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, in Israel are places considered impregnable. No one, except once by Iraq, not even Egypt, in all wars fought by Israel, has ever been able to breach those invincible barriers of Tel Aviv. The significance of the achievement recorded by Hamas in the past few days can never be more pronounced. Hamas has been able to do what many other Arab nations have never for once imagined they could --- Hit Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

It matters little that the rockets were inaccurate or went straight into the sea. It matters very little that 5 times more body counts are being recorded in Hamas for every rocket shot into Israel...what is significant is the psychological warefare where clearly, Hamas comes out the winner. What is even more significant is the fact that this will likely embolden more moves from Hamas working along with Iran to create more means of deterrence on their own. If they can hit Jerusalem...they only need to tip a warhead with Biological weapons and it wouldn't matter how accurate their missiles are.

In the end, the world has not become any more peaceful. To achieve any peace of any kind, both parties would still have to sit at a table and agree to uncomfortable terms. For Hamas and Palestine, that would be a significant victory, for Israel, maybe less so, but they would at least be able to sleep in the beds without worrying about flying missiles and failing Iron dones.

Which obviously begs the question of why start a war at all? If you don't bully other people, then they won't terrorize you, why is that very simple concept difficult for humans to comprehend?

Something similar is what i was hoping to explain to many-a-nutter here who throw in blind support for Israel simply because they must have seen Israel written somewhere in their Bible.

From a Christian perspective, there's absolutely no difference between Jews and Arabs. Israeli's don't believe in Jesus Christ as the Lord and saviour. They don't believe there's a Holy spirit, they don't believe in Christianity!!!

and some nutter wanted us to pray for them in the name of Jesus so they could hit Gaza harder.

The level of ignorance on this thread makes me puke!
Foreign Affairs / Re: Israel Air Strikes Hit Hamas Headquarters In Gaza by violent(m): 7:56pm On Nov 17, 2012
COOLDUN:

Did you read clearly the cause of this latest problem? If really you did and couldn’t see the wrong people in this problem then you are biased. Before you lament on the plight of the Palestine citizens in Israeli prisons, you have to asked yourselves why were they arrested and imprisoned. What the Israelis have in their prisons are the terrorists that were caught in the act of attacking Israeli targets. Israel I know is not occupying any other territories except their promised land.

Though you might not agree with me because of our difference in religion, but the fact remains the truth. Your sympathy towards the Palestine oppression from Israel shows that you have been supporting the act of terrorism in the independent struggle.

There are many countries that are still being held against their wishes in the countries where they are not welcomed also as the citizens, they are being killed every day in any slightest provocation, their members are being arrested and detained unlawfully by the security of the country, despite that they are following the UN approved Independence struggle procedures of no violence . Still no one has ever protested or lamented about their daily ordeals. Read the history of this Palestine issue, you will know that all the Arabs and muslims want the total extermination of the state of Israel from the world map. He who God bless, no one curses.

How many times have you criticized the present President of Islamic Republic of Iran, who always calls for the total wipe out of the state of Israel? How would you react to the federal government if a terrorist group in another country, fires a rocket into Nigeria and kill some members of your family?

The terrorist group called Hamas whom you and your fellow Palestine people are harboring, recently fired a rocket into the city in Israel and killed innocent people, which made Israeli government to retaliate which is one you are condemning, but did not condemn the first offenders. No reasonable fellow begins a fight with someone he/she cannot face.

If you don't understand what you are saying, it's a better strategy to simply shut up!!!

Israel conducts regular missile targeted strikes in Hamas on a regular basis....but when Hamas shoots a rocket back, then they are the terrorist!! Are you even sane at all??

Israel is destroying Hamas and its people by the by the minute...and all Hamas asks for: a lifting of Gaza blockage imposed by Israel, a vacation of occupied territories and a stop to targeted missile strikes, why is that damn too much to ask for?

I don't care what your religion is and you certainly don't even know if i believe in a God at all. Your premise that my support for Palestine must be because of a religious sentiment is rash and absolutely senseless. The world may be going down the drain but there are people who still see and call evil for what it is. I hate when people are so blinded by religious sentiment to such an extent where blood couldn't flow properly to their brain. Gaza may be left a cemetery by the people you hail, but the world wouldn't forget such level of aggression and oppression by Israel simply because they could get away with it.

But then that wouldn't go on forever. There will be a time when the entire world will hold Israel to account.

On who started the conflict, i suggest you read a little more before laying the blame on someone simply because they have differing religious views from yours.

And for the dude who thinks an unfriendly Egypt isn't something Israel can bother about, you have absolutely no idea!

That's A̶̲̥̅ standard meaning of terrorism.
Using women and children as collateral damage.

But it's not terrorism if your enemy starves you off your own resources, and leaves your people homeless right?

Who should we cheer? Cheer the palestinians to continue firing rockets? Why are you not addressing your palestinian brothers to stop firing rocket into Israeli residential cities?

Palestinians have the right to fire rockets and israel does not have the right to defend itself.

I love the way Israel is going about this world. They are putting all the attacks on social media so tat somebody will not use propaganda on them. Yesterday, hamaz posted A̶̲̥̅ picture of A̶̲̥̅ dead baby and when analyst studied the picture, they found out that thre picture was takng in syria. Its on aljazeera. Muslims/palestinians are devil.

And you called yourself A̶̲̥̅ christian. A̶̲̥̅ christian will never side with boko-haram.
Why are you ashamed of your religion. FYI, I am not A̶̲̥̅ christian too. I have converted to zionism.

So Israel occupies a Palestine territory, blocks off it's boarders, starves its economy, strikes people in Palestine at will...and Palestinians are just meant to shut up and take it in the azz?

And Israel is allowed to use disproportionate force in "defending" itself against "terrorists" who just want their land back and their dignity with it? How much disproportionate force is good enough before the world screams blue murder?....oh let me guess, until Israel uses it pile of nuclear weapon, then technically it's still defending itself

The future George Orwell described -- where he envisioned a boot stomping on the face of mankind forever -- is clearly on us. I do hope Egyptians step in to stop the bully, this nightmare can't be allowed to continue forever.

And if this is what Zionisim is all about...then thanks, i'd have none of it!

On why I am so ashamed of my religion? Well, I'm just sick and tired of people who support the most brazen acts of evil in the name of religion. Some don't even understand the difference between a Jew and a Christian but will have us pray for Israel in the name of Jesus to destroy more of Palenstine and maybe steal more of their lands. That, to them is not terrorism, afterall Israel is God's favorite, right?

i just pray our northern brodas will not go on rampage by killin southerners as a show of solidarity to the palestinian pple.

My emotions? I think it's your emotions at play here. I'm a Christian too! I don't believe it's right for Israel to carry out targeted strikes in Palestine. I don't believe it's morally right for Israel to hold on to the lands of the people of Palestine. They are humans too! Their entry ports have been blocked by Israel's military, their economy suffers, their people too... their sovereignty violated time and over again,....that itself is morally wrong!

No one in their sound minds should be cheering Israel simply because the other side of the party are arabs. They are humans! They share the same heartbeat with you and I. Israel has got American's military hardware at their disposal. All the people of Gaza have is a couple of rocket and launchers. They know Israel can beat them in any battle....but they simply fight anyway, for their lands, for their people and for their honor! That itself is a sign of courage, the fact that people cheer on the bully makes me think less of humanity than i have ever done!

Miracle_favor: PLEASE LET US STAND IN AGREEMENT PRAYER WITH ISRAEL.LET US KEEP ISRAEL IN OUR PRAYERS,THOUGHTS & MEDITATIONS.ISRAEL IS IN CRITICAL TURBULENT TIMES NOW FACING OPPOSITIONS FROM THE ARAB WORLD,PALESTINE & THE OTHERS...IT IS CONFIRMED IN THE SCRIPTURES IN PSALM 122:6 ''PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM: THEY SHALL PROSPER THAT LOVE THEE''. ALREADY WE ARE SUPERNATURALLY BLESSED AND EMPOWERED AS WE PRAY FOR ISRAEL IN JESUS MOST MIGHTY MIRACULOUS NAME,AMEN

Don't be stvpid!!!!

Israelis don't even believe in Jesus. Israelis are Jews, not Christians. Praying for Israel in Jesus name is a silly idea.

Your stvpidity is further compounded by asking people to pray for a military --- that is about the most technologically advanced in the middle east who also happen to have their stock supplied and funded by the biggest military in the world --- in a fight against a poorly funded, poorly equipped Hamas?

What should our prayers be, you idiat? That Israel missiles could kill more babies?

Palestine have been humiliated for long. Their lands taken away from them, their people locked up in Israel prisons, economic life shutdown by the Gaza blockade....all these have gone on far too long whilst Israelis claim to be the victim and people of Palestine terrorists. This is a badge of shame for humanity.
Career / Re: Credentials Needed To Enter The Financial Sector by violent(m): 12:24am On Nov 16, 2012
Being an Economics and stats graduate should have already armed you with most of the things you need to know about finance and Portfolio Management. If you are however considering these exams to boost your employability, you should aim solely for the CFA...you have no business studying for ICAN or other stuffs you typed up there.

On the subject of time and money, well, no one has ever had enough of those. It's up to you to decide for yourself if your passion to pursue a career in finance is worth investing two of the most scarce resources on.

I will advise you spend your time networking with people in the industry, submitting job applications for internships and following up on established networks. It's fairly easy to build networks within any industry...all you need is to be sociable, curious, well mannered and charming. You must be a go-getter too. Ask to be introduced to people, and when you get introduced to people, offer to buy them drinks at some point in the future. If you are lucky and such offer gets accepted, make sure you go to such future meetings with your CV in your bag. If you are going to be a portfolio manager, you've got to learn to be a sales man first!!...{having a good looking face and a nice pair of t*ts, I'm told, helps a lot too}

On how to spend your money....well you believe you've got enough, you should consider enrolling for the CFA program. This may likely introduce you to some content (you would likely benefit mostly from knowledge of instruments and pricing), but like i said already, being an Economics & Stats graduate should mean you already know a lot of stuffs about Finance, probably even better than many finance guys will ever do. Being an Economics major gives you an edge in that you are able to take a top-down view given your understanding of how relationships work within the macro context. I have met many people who have spent many years managing portfolios and still can't do this.

Overall, no one can ever give you a right path...as there's none. You simply have to optimize an approach between:

a) What you currently know ---->> what you need to learn ----- >> what you should know

b) How close is your network to the Industry ---->> How many more relationships do you need to build ----->>> How many industrial players do you have links with.

You should endeavor to spend your time and money between a and b above.
