Google introduced Android One at Google I/O and told us to expect the launch soon. Today is that day. Android One is an initiative that will bring high quality smartphones to as many people as possible. 1.75 people around the world own a smartphone, which is a lot, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. There are still 5 billion more people on this earth, and Android One gives those people an opportunity to join the revolution.


Android One smartphones were officially launched today in India priced between Rs 6,399 – 7,000 ($105 – $115). Since Google is working with phone and silicon makers, there are a few models. They is the Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream Uno, and Karbonn Sparkle V. The Canvas A1 will be available on Amazon India, the Dream Uno will be on Flipkart, and the Sparkle V will be on Snapdeal.

All manufacturers must adhere to the minimum spec requirements, which include a 4.5-inch (845 x 480) display, a quad-core MediaTek processor, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of storage, microSD slot for up to 32 GB of extra storage), dual cameras, dual-SIM support, and Android 4.4.

As far as networks, Google has partnered with various operators for special deals. Airtel is one such network in which users can download Android software updates over 3G plus get 200 MB of apps for six months without it counting towards their monthly data usage. On averge, that’s about 50 apps.

Since Google is working so closely with OEMs, they can ensure timely and direct updates from the search giant. I can guarantee you that these Android One handsets will get Android L well before flagships from Samsung, LG, and HTC get them.

This is just the beginning folks. Expect more manufacturers such as Acer, Alcatel Onetouch, ASUS, HTC, Intex, Lava, Lenovo, Panasonic, Xolo, and chipmaker Qualcomm. You will also see Android One handsets hit Indonesia, the Philippines and South Asia (Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka) by the end of the year, with more countries to follow in 2015.

There's no drug for Ebola... It's all about managing the symptoms as they come which i believe is what they are doing. None of the symptoms are untreatable. Diarrhea, stooling, vomiting, headache, fever, all this can be contained hence why it's important people who suspect they might have it should go to and check and allow themselves to be treated.

I am using a Samsung galaxy s3, international model
The battery drains real fast. I can't use it on 3g for 3 hrs just chatting on bbm and what'sapp. And it gets really hot. I have tried uninstalling some apps, force closing others bt only with little change.
I even decided to leave it in Edge bt it still drains fast. the only way ti get like over 6 hrs is by switching off d mobile data.
The second issue is dat my google map, youtube and Google+ apps are not signing in. it gives error msgs like could not find server or try again later. hw cn I resolve dis issues?

Funny how everyone makes opinions from one single side of the story. I look at this post and the NMA strike and laugh. All of una head dey shake. I lost hope in the medical field when doctors and nurses refused to check my mum's chart for 3 days after a mastectomy. If not the fear of God was put into the CMD, well let's just say I had my own ways and means. And this was when u lot where not on strike.

Forgive me but I can't be sympathetic to the cause of doctors or nurses or any medical professional cuz am disappointed. Docs claim to swear the Hippocratic oath but yet blatantly fail to obey it. Nurses na ass wipes. If you never see witch before, go many general hospitals u will see them in nurses.

Rot in the sector? Please... Yours is a truly mighty and independent sector but don't get too cocky. No Union moves the FG better than PENGASSAN and NUPENG so make una go back work as the FG does not care about human lives.
