Tinubu came in and is running with his ideas that are original. They might not be perfect though. And Atiku's sole campaign is to promise how to undo or refine these ideas.

Where is Atiku's leadership depth? Where is his originality? This is pure weakness and leadership laziness.

Don't read figures upside down. The figures here showed that he left the economy worse than he inherited. Buhari continued from where Jonathan stopped. Tinubu in just three years stopped the fall and his figures have been consistently looking north.

OBJ contrary to general opinion didn't have consistent growth. The economy will grow and latter retrogress.

The free fall started from Jonathan's regime. I'm using the figures here. It continued and got worse under Buhari. Tinubu arrested the situation and the figures are looking north since three years of taking over. Give him the remaining five years and he will set a mark that past regimes never achieved and future ones will find it hard surpass.

State governors even though they are receiving much from FAAC should have made efforts to increase their IGR so that they can do more at the micro level. This is not happening. The increased share from FAAC has made them to relax and this limits what they can do at the micro. Is this the president's fault.

He is no average politician. I'll give him that. Indeed there has never been a politician like Tinubu in the history of Nigeria and I say this as someone who is not his supporter.

It is a most remarkable feat for a man to start a political party from the scratch, form alliances to put another man who has ran multiple times for president and failed, in office, then run for that same office himself and win.

He had a keen eye for political talent and through his influence has made several men governors. If Tinubu was younger, Nigeria would have enjoyed him. I have listened to his speeches when he was governor of Lagos and it could not be denied that he was quite cerebral and knowledgeable with a good command of the English language.

If Tinubu was the one who first entered office instead of Buhari, this country would have been better off. Unfortunately though, we have Tinubu in his later years and very much diminished. But as far as politics in Nigeria is concerned, there has never been anyone like him. He is a collosus.

I'm not a politician and I don't have any interest in Nigerian politics but I must acknowledge that I'm learning some principles from Tinubu that I'm using and will continue to use in my endevour:

Help and position people when you don't need anything from them. Even if they are your enemies (Olisa Metu attested to this). When you need them you can be sure that majority will assist you.

If you help them when you need help from them you can be sure that you can't get their total loyalty.

Never hold permanent hatred. Always be ready to bend backwards and extend hands to those that previously hated you. They can be powerful tools.

Some people are uniquely gifted. You can hate them for all you can but it changes nothing. One way to make appreciable challenge against such people is:

Recognize their strengths and give them due respect and attention.

Endeavour to understand the gaps in such strengths and exploit them.

If possible come close to such person and learn.

The flagship of such people is that they talk less and their actions are loud, they are audacious and they don't fear acting outside the norm.

None of the prime opposition members can come close to the above. Today's Nigeria needs someone in the above mould. OBJ was. Atiku can spend the money he made in government and Obi can make all the online and content noise. They don't have it, they don't have it.

Those of you defending the rubbish talks of the minister. Where in the constitution is a minister granted power to order arrests of defaulters?

But I think we should be careful about measuring government performance mainly by how quickly a minister arrives at the scene after a problem has gone viral.

Around the world, the strongest infrastructure systems are designed so that authorities don't have to wait for someone to make a viral video before they know something is wrong.

In countries like Japan, Singapore and the Netherlands, infrastructure management relies heavily on routine inspections, sensors, maintenance schedules, monitoring systems and clear accountability. A bridge shouldn't need a Facebook post before government discovers that something is being vandalised or deteriorating.

Even in places like the United States and the UK, infrastructure agencies have structured inspection and reporting systems. Citizens can still report problems, but citizen videos are supposed to complement government monitoring—not become the government's monitoring system.

So I will commend Umahi for responding quickly. That's good leadership.

But the bigger question should be: Why did the problem get to the point where a citizen had to record it and put it online before it received attention?

We should demand both:

1. Fast response when problems are reported.
2. A proactive system that detects problems before citizens have to report them.

Because a government that is always excellent at responding to viral problems may still have a serious weakness in prevention.

The goal shouldn't be to have the fastest minister at every disaster scene.

The goal should be to build infrastructure systems where fewer disasters require the minister's personal intervention in the first place.

In this nations that you mentioned can you see a citizen removing such things? This is the problem of copy and paste. Our situation is peculiar.

You said in the past ten years. Other governments have not responded in the past ten years. One government now decided to respond and you are talking about presidential election. Are you grateful at all? Given the level of hatred of Igbos against this government do you think that this government will use projects to win votes from them. Even if this government builds heaven for them they will still hate and grudge. It's their style.

I actually support the idea of ending electricity subsidies if the government is genuinely prepared to fix the power sector first. But we need to be careful not to celebrate subsidy removal as if it automatically means better electricity.

For years, Nigerians have been paying for darkness in one form or another—electricity bills, fuel for generators, diesel for businesses, inverter batteries and the cost of replacing damaged appliances. If subsidy is removed while the quality of supply remains the same, Nigerians will simply be paying more for the same poor service.

The real question is: what exactly is changing before 2027?

Are the debts to GenCos and other players being cleared? Are transmission and distribution networks being upgraded? Are DisCos being held accountable for estimated billing and poor service? Are we creating a system where consumers actually pay according to the electricity they receive?

Because removing subsidy is not reform by itself.

Government should first build a power market that can survive without permanent intervention, while protecting poor and vulnerable Nigerians from sudden tariff shocks.

If the subsidy must go, let it go alongside reliable electricity, transparent billing, stronger regulation and measurable improvements in service.

Nigerians don't necessarily want government to keep subsidising inefficiency forever. We want a system where we can pay for electricity and actually get electricity.

Otherwise, we will remove the subsidy from the power sector and quietly transfer the same cost to generators, diesel, petrol, businesses and households.

That isn't reform. That's simply moving the suffering from one pocket to another.

Love this. The first thing is make sure that power consumers are metered. Then go ahead and remove subsidy. No power no bill. Ieft my residence in Aba since 29th July and just came back on 27th August. Epileptic power is what is available. Since 27th till now I haven't received power. My money is in my pocket because I use prepaid meter. What I hate most is to pay for what I didn't consume.

I can't remember the last time that I presented my FSL, GCE "O" and "A" levels certificates in any interview. Even higher certificates at our level in most cases are for formality. Several times I have resumed senior jobs before putting up applications to just formalize the appointment.

At very high level what you have done gives you the job and not your paper quality. That's how it works in developed economies.
