Billyonaire: Without Subsidy removal, expect no new refineries. I concur that's obvious ! Of course , No reasonable investor will embark on a multi-million dollars investment ; setting up refineries , engaging needed human resources and expect to thrive where prices are being regulated. The market has to dictate the prices , in essence ; fuel subsidy should be expunged inorder to create that enabling business atmosphere for refineries to come on board. |

I raise my thumb up for GEJ for consolidating on prospective reforms that will eventually grow our economy at the long run , especially for continuing OBJ'S power reforms which yaradua Halted , decongesting the ports from undue bureaucratic procedures ; consequently making the recipients and consumers like us bear the heat , by purchasing imported products at an exorbitant rate. We've also had tremendous improvement in our oil and gas sector which is the key sector of our revenue and economy. I commend him for submitting the PIB and also exposing the fraudulent - in NNPC which is the regulating body - practices through subsidy probes . This prevalent practices makes the sector most vulnerable and prone to corruption , obviously unsustainable to continue for the good and betterment of this country. Governor Akpabio Takes Possession of $45 Million "Private" Jet
The government of Akwa Ibom State has confirmed that Godswill Akpabio like his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, also owns a brand new jet.
Akpabio took possession of the $45 million jet in July 2012.
Responding to SaharaReporters inquiries, Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Ummanah, confirmed that Mr. Akpabio bought the Gulfstream jet manufactured in 2011, but insisted that that it is Akwa Ibom State property.
As already published by SaharaReporters, Governor Amaechi’s gleaming new toy is a Bombardier Global 5000 (N565RS), which he acquired for his exclusive use.
Governor Akpabio’s state of the art jet, which carries FAA registration number N224BH, was interestingly purchased by the same Bank of Utah Trust account used by the Rivers state government. The deal was handled by a trust attorney at the bank and delivered to Mr. Akpabio.
Records show that Governor Akpabio, whose deputy resigned yesterday, has travelled abroad in the jet regularly, especially to and within the United States, since the acquisition.
SOURCE: http://saharareporters.com/news-page/governor-akpabio-takes-possession-45-million-private-jet I don't see any problem with that considering his achievements so far in his state. He made the purchase on behalf of the state and not for personal use. It could have been so selfish if it was purchased in his name. Nevertheless , I still doubt Sahara reporters , they disseminate false informations ; misleading majority to believe in a lie ! |

bilms: Ajimobi’s Wife in London Police Net for Laundering N500m …..Oyo gov stands surety for wife ….Wole Olanipekun, 2 other SANs engaged Posted on October 29, 2012 by NewsAXE
By Segun Ayedaade, Lagos Junketing wife of the Oyo State governor, Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi, has finally jumped into the net of London police authorities. Her offence: she was found in possession of Pound Sterling and United States Dollars totalling N500million about two weeks ago.
Mrs Ajimobi was arrested by the Met Police during her 52nd trip outside Nigeria in the last 17 months that her husband became the chief executive of the Pace-Setter state. The development came barely a few months after Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State was arrested also in London on money laundering charges and was held for about 26 days in the United Kingdom.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi has equally been out of the country for about 42 times on personal and official trips that have cost the people of the state fortunes in estacode and denied them the opportunity of a responsible government during times of sorrow, like the August 26, 2011 flood disaster that ravaged the state.
The governor’s wife was held for a few days in London before she telephoned her husband who immediately flew out to the United Kingdom to save his wife and his administration from the embarrassment that the arrest could cause. NEWSLEAK gathered that the governor had to stand surety for his wife before she was temporarily released the weekend on her arrest.
To ensure that the news does not get to public domain, Governor Ajimobi had to lie that he was travelling to Taiwan for “an emergency business trip”, and headed for London to stand surety for his wife.
Met police authorities accept the surety-ship of a sitting high profile government official in cases of money laundering without which Mrs Ajimobi would have been declared wanted and Interpol sent after her.
When Mrs Ajimobi returned to Nigeria two Sundays ago, she avoided public gathering, never honoured any invitation and cancelled all previous appointments. A community newspaper in London published the news of Mrs Ajimobi’s arrest with her picture lavishly used by the local daily.
NEWSLEAK is making effort to get the photograph and use same on this website. According to investigations, Mrs Ajimobi is literally the human bank in charge of funds illegally deducted from the 33 local government councils in the state as well as the N110million security monthly security vote of her husband.
Rumours that Mrs Ajimobi is the courier for public funds running into billions of Naira allegedly stolen so far by the Action Congress of Nigeria-led government in the last 17months were reinforced by the several contracts awarded to Mrs Ajimobi, including the poorly executed beautification project given to her for N1billion of taxpayers’ money.
In addition, she has appropriated the State Action Committee on AIDS (SACA), which was hitherto under the purview of the Ministry of Health to her office and through this, she is sitting upon the $15million-Dollar World Bank funds released early this year for the control of AIDS in the state.
To wriggle out of money laundering and sundry charges against Mrs Ajimobi, her husband has engaged the service of three Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) led by Chief Wole Olanipekun. Following the expiration of the week-long bail granted Mrs Ajimobi to prepare her legal team as the case will be charged t court soon, she left the country for London early on Sunday, October 28 (that is yesterday).
Governor Ajimobi, it was scoped, has been running from pillar to post for face-saving strategies against the damning incident. He was said to have expressed determination to pay any price quoted by anyone that could be of help in preventing the scandal from becoming public knowledge as well as getting the “greedy wife” off the hook.
The governor, NEWSLEAK is told, will be travelling out of the country this week to stand by her wife. It was also gathered that the senior lawyers are on their way out of the country for the legal fireworks in defence of Mrs Ajimobi.

If the governor's Deployed such resources in infrastructure , it could have made a tremendous change to alleviate the lives and well-being of Oyo indigenes. It's so annoying ; this women launder public funds with very high level of impunity. |

OkwaIfugo: Senator Ndume gave AGF’s mobile number to Boko Haram – SSS. More drama as details regarding Ndume’s transaction with Boko Haram emerges. An Assistant Director with the State Security Services, SSS, James Ineh, told the Federal High Court on Wednesday that a Senator, Mohammed Ndume, gave the telephone number of the Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, to the Boko Haram. Mr. Ndume, a serving Senator from Borno, is standing trial for allegedly having links with Boko Haram. The accused has, however, said he established the link to facilitate peace as a member of the Presidential Committee on Security in the North East Zone. Mr. Ineh, who was the Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel, SIP, set up to investigate Mr. Ndume, said that a former spokesman of Boko Haram, Ali Konduga, revealed the information to the panel. He said Mr. Konduga informed the panel that the senator provided him with the telephone number of Mr. Adoke.
The witness allegedly told the panel that the number was used to bargain a governorship petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Borno state. Mr. Ineh said that the former Boko Haram spokesman testified that the calls to Mr. Adoke were threats to spur him to influence the Governorship Election Tribunal members to cede the state’s election victory to PDP or risk mayhem in the State. He explained that the name of the Attorney General was dragged into the panel report submitted on November 25, 2011 on the grounds that his GSM number was found in Mr. Konduga’s telephone set. Mr. Ineh, in his testimony, further said that the items found in the senator’s telephone were indicative of his close connection with the dreaded group. “The fact that Konduga was tried and convicted of terrorism acts is enough to show that the accused is also liable,’’ he said. The judge, Gabriel Kolawole, adjourned the suit to November 1, November 5 and December 11.

Nuzo': Governor of Sokoto State, Northwest Nigeria, Aliyu Wamakko, has flogged a manager of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, for failing to supply electricity to his community.
Premium Times, an online news portal reports that the governor flogged the manager and ordered his security officials to assault two other PHCN staff.
The management of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KEDC, a subsidiary of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, accused the Governor of assaulting the workers.
The Acting Managing Director of the Company, Mohammed Adamu, made this known at a press briefing late Monday at the company’s Doka office in Kaduna.
Mr. Adamu explained that the staff was summoned by the governor and was beaten to a pulp by the Governor and some of his aides.
“On Saturday, 20th October, 2012, an unusual and unfortunate event took place which was beyond our comprehension. On the said date our business manager, Gwiwa Business Unit, Sokoto state, Moses Osigwe, was invited by the Executive Governor of the State, Aliyu Magatarkada Wamakko to his personal residence, over the issue of lack of power supply to his hometown, Wamakko, as a result of a failed 2.5MVA transformer.
“He accused our staff of deliberately denying his community, Wamakko, of power supply. As the business manager was trying to explain to him, the governor just brought out a horse whip (popularly known as bulala in Hausa language) and lashed him to a pulp,” Mr. Adamu said.
The PHCN boss said the governor’s brutality did not stop at being the direct aggressor, “as he also invited and instructed two hefty mobile police men to continue with the beating spree until the business manager fell on the ground and became unconscious.”
“In the same vain, the Governor did not stop at the beating of our business manager but invited two other staff of the company namely, Isyaku Daura, Officer 2 (Electrical) and Nuruddeen Mohammed, Staff 1 (Lines) and ordered the mobile policemen to beat them up, also to a pulp,” he lamented.
He described the governor’s action as uncalled for, barbaric, and uncivilised. The Senior Special Assistant to the Sokoto state Governor, Sani Umar, when contacted on phone told reporters that he was driving and would call back. He was yet to do so as at the time of this report.

There are other penalties like dismissing him from service if found guilty of neglecting his obligation's as a staff of PHCN. They should stop taken law's into their own hands. |

Itoroetti : orji blames colonialists for Africa’s crises Written by Kate Da Costa in Accra, Ghana Monday, 22 October 2012 05:31 Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has blamed colonial powers for the various crises being faced by African countries. Speaking in Accra at the weekend, Orji said “The nature of the State legacies of war and militarization, poor resource management are issues which African States emerged as creation of European colonial powers, which shaped the nature of the new States from the period of independence. “The new States were enmeshed in conflicts, especially as diverse races were fused into incompatible unions of most States. These new and weak States were further characterized by weak institutions, poor governance and selfish leadership in the post independence era. This is why the initial spread of ethnic base and border conflicts dominated the African region in the first two decades of independence.” The Governor who was awarded ‘The Best Governor in Security Matters in Nigeria’ for ending the spate of insecurity in his state also blamed the backwardness of the continent on protracted arms struggles. Speaking on the topic: ‘Sustainable Security Structure in Africa; Abia Experience, Governor Orji traced the history of insecurity and armed struggle to the negative legacies of colonial rule. If naija no recognise their own, foreign countries does.i laugh in ibibo bullshit ! ATLEAST 15 persons were held Friday in Akure, Ondo State capital over illegal voting ahead of today’s governorship election.
They were caught stuffing ballot boxes with thumb-printed ballotpapers.
Sources told Saturday Vanguard yesterday that the suspects were caught in the residence of an Afenifere chieftain who recently endorsed one of the gubernatorial candidates in today’s election.
The Police got wind of the illegal voting and stormed the residence of the Afenifere chief and arrested the suspects.
It was discovered that the retrieved voting materials were the leftover of those that were used in the 2011 elections.
The intention of the suspects, it was learnt, was to swap the fake ballot boxes with the original ones on the way to the counting centres.
The suspects are allegedly being detained in police custody.
Saturday Vanguard also gathered that a similar illegal voting exercise is taking place in many other places in the state.

BARELY two days after the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) opened the bidding of the distribution companies under the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and sold the Benin Disco to Vigeo Power Consortium, the Edo, Ekiti and Delta states governments have protested, saying they would not allow it to operate within their domains.
The states, under the company name Southern Electricity Distribution Company, equally bid but lost to Vigeo which is partly owned by Mr Victor Gbolade Osibodu, a businessman.
The governors of Edo, Ekiti and Delta states, in a joint briefing, said “our states have invested heavily in power generation, transmission and distribution across the length and breath of our respective state as we recognised the importance of power as the pre-condition for socio-economic growth and industrialisation of our states.”
Delta State governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, who spoke on behalf of others, informed that their participation was based on the technical competence and that they had the consortium that is most suited to the peculiarities of their region.
He, therefore, stated that they would never allow Vigeo Power Consortium to operate in their states, because “you cannot succeed in operating the utility without the participation of the state governments on the ground, knowledge and relationships with the different stakeholders such as youths, communities, leadership. Our consortium possesses all these and no other does.”
Governor Uduaghan added: “Why would a company whose current service territory is 500 square kilometre be technically qualified to operate a 57,000 square kilometre service territory in an area like the Niger Delta Region, without any local knowledge of this troubled area at all?”
He added that the process was fraudulent and not acceptable, saying that for it to work, the host states need to be involved, adding that “we need to be involved and we are crying to Nigerians.”
http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/49468-power-distribution-we-wont-allow-firm-to-operate-edo-ekiti-delta-govs These governors are just showcasing their fraudulent tendencies by making such utterances , having interest in companies rather than being focused on their respective states. Edo , Delta and Ekiti governors won't assist to enhance energy generation , supply and distribution in their various states because southern electricity distribution lost to Vigeo Power Consortium? And the process is now invalid and fraudulent because their interest crashed out? Stupid and selfish governors ! |

However, we noticed that the First Lady seemed eager to kiss him, but GEJ was seemingly not in the mood for public display of affection. Or was it the angle from which the shot was taken? idle minds ! |
Politics › Re: Aregbesola - Governors Not Chief Security Officers by Vogue50: 7:41am On Oct 17, 2012 |
Itohen: Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Argbesola, has said state governors are not chief security officers of their respective states.
Aregbesola, who spoke on Tuesday, in Osogbo said governors were not chief security officers in the true sense of the word, stressing that “no commissioner of police will listen to the directive or instruction of any governor.”
Aregbesola also made a case for the need to establish state police in the country, saying the idea remained the panacea for ensuring effective security nationwide.
A statement by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, said Aregbesola made the call when he signed state Security Trust Fund Law at the Governor’s Office, Abere.
He said, “The bogus appellation given to the governors as Chief Security Officers of their respective states is a mere expression.
“Those who say Nigeria is not ripe for state police are not sincere. I don’t know where they get their own reasoning from. Even school campuses have their own police to ensure that criminal activities are curbed in their institutions.” http://www.punchng.com/news/governors-not-chief-security-officers-aregbesola/ state security should be the ideal thing to curb all the social ills emanating from poor lapses in the system. The simple truth is , governors will abuse the essence ; wooing police commissioners to their side through bribery , use the platform to fight their political enemies and create anarchy in their respective states. Aregbesola is very stupid for making such a statement ! Should he decline from his obligated responsibilities because the states are not in charge of its security? He should face the challenges and protect lives and properties as the chief security offiicer of the state. |
Politics › Re: Behave Like A Statesman, Are U An Area Boy?- Mimiko Tells Tinubu by Vogue50: 4:43pm On Oct 16, 2012 |
HammedSodiqq: The Mimiko Campaign Organisation has advised the ACN leader, Bola Tinubu, to behave like a statesman worthy of the toga of the national leader of a political party rather than like a common street boy in his manners and utterances. The organisation gave the advice to Tinubu in Akure following what it termed “unwarranted verbal attacks” by him against the person of the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
It expressed regret that a leader could employ the use of raw and dirty language. The MCO’s Director of Publicity and Media Relations, Mr Kolawole Olabisi, while berating Tinubu, stated that there was nothing to show for it in the state under the ACN governors.
“Pray, isn’t it absurd that Tinubu could be asking the people to vote for his party when all over the South-west where he controls, governance is at it lowest ebb. It has been industrial disputes galore as workers and government are at loggerhead over unpaid salaries and emoluments.
Students of higher institutions are groaning while they pay through their noses. Yet, they say they want to capture Ondo State which is better governed than any of these states and has become a benchmark in the art of good governance in Nigeria. “When the so-called leaders dance naked on national television and unleash verbal abuses on a sitting governor of a state who has done nothing but high sense of respect for him as well as assault the sensibility of the people of Ondo State, then such leaders should be prepared to be disgraced.
“How can a leader also ask the people of Ondo State to re-enact the terrible episode of the 1983 election violence if his party should lose the election?
“We urged the security operatives to be abreast of all the vituperation and pure incitement of the people by Tinubu and other leaders of the ACN at today’s so-called redemption rally of theirs and take note of unfolding events as the election approaches, “ MCO advised
Meanwhile, Tinubu has described Mimiko as a liar for saying that he did not collect any money from him during his struggle to reclaim his mandate.
The ACN leader specifically stated that he gave Mimiko both money and vehicle, stating that Mr Wole Olanipekun, who Mimiko called as witness, was not there when they discussed.
Tinubu said he gave millions of pounds during the forensic investigation of voting materials, adding that one lawyer, Osinbajo, was the one moving from Bristow to Israel all for Mimiko.
Speaking at a rally to round off ACN’s national campaign for its candidate in this weekend’s gubernatorial election held at the Democracy Park in the heart of Akure, the state capital, Tinubu alongside the governors of Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Lagos and Edo States said it was only when all the states in the South-west came under one political umbrella that the issue of integration can be possible and which would strengthen the old Western Region politically, socially and economically. The remarks of each of the speakers, who asked the electorate to reject Mimiko from the Alagbaka Government House, was the waving of red card to signify the sending out of the incumbent from office.
While asking the electorate to protect their votes, the former governor of Ogun State, Segun Osoba and Tinubu urged the people to do what they did to those who rigged election in 1983.
Osoba, who said the people of the state remained in the forefront of rejecting rigging in 1983, asked them to come out early in the morning, cast their votes and protect same like they did in 1983 when popular candidates were rigged out in the South West states.
The former governor said the people of the state have a lot to gain be joining the mainstream of the South-west politics, adding that when he interrelated with other states of the region when he was the governor of Ogun State.
Tinubu expressed happiness that Mimiko himself said Governor Babatunde Fashola who he supported as the Lagos State Governor did well saying the prayer of any parent is that their children should do better.
“He calls me godfather, I am a positive godfather. Godfather here is for development, it is for progress. All I want in the South West is what Awolowo did. The shoe of Awolowo is too big for me. All I want is a vision, the liberation of the South West and Ondo State”, he said.
Tinubu described Akeredolu as the best candidate for the Saturday’s election when all his attributes are taking into consideration.
Speaking, the ACN candidate, Akeredolu said though the state is richly blessed but had been suffering because it lacked good leaders.
While assuring the people that he would win the election, Akeredolu declared three day fasting for the electorate because of the election. He urged the electorate to fast on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday saying it is ACN that will liberate Ondo State. it's really annoying seeing politicians , especially aspirants exhibit high level of deceit in order to woo and lure electorates towards believing their tales ! How can u compel people to pray and fast for 3days so that GOD will liberate ondo state by endorsing you as his candidate ? u people should as well round off ur campaigns in heaven . |
Politics › Re: TINUBU Finally Bows To Awolowo, Says I'm Unfit To Wear His Shoes. by Vogue50: 4:03pm On Oct 16, 2012 |
Idokojimmy: Humbled by the number of supporters he was losing on daily basis especially in the South West, owing to an unnecessary feud over who has impacted more on the Yoruba race, Bola TINUBU yesterday confessed that he cannot be compared to Awo in any way. In his words, "I will not want Awo’s shoes. They are big for me. All I want is development for the Southwest. Go and slaughter Labour Party with your votes and send Mimiko away" It's quite obvious that he can't fill the shoes of awolowo ; awo had dreams for the entire Yoruba race and it's reflection has been made manifest by his doggedness in engineering his people's early exposure to western education while tinubu has embarked on aggressive dominance of the south-west geo-political zone in order to amass wealth for himself and his family through thuggery , nepotism , propaganda, conspiracy and intimidation. His want isn't for the development of the region but for Osun state indigenes to slaughter labour party with their votes , is that not selfishness? The electorates will surely exercise their mandate and decide whom they deem most credible to rule. |
