nobody has enough energy to force you nothing.i just asked a simple question; in the light of your diatribe, was the civil rights movement godly or not? If you are not familiar with the movement, Google is your friend. What about apartheid? And negro freedom fighters who resisted colonialists? Is it not hypocritical to go dumb on such serious matters?
Whether it works or not is not the point, nothing works 100% of the time. Surgeries can go south very fast and snuff away the very lives they were saving. So it's not about a billion and one 'other' ways, it's about the way they did it. Was it godly?
Image123: you cannot force me to condemn them or approve them na. i have said that there are other ways that they could have gone about their demands. Nehemiah had a demand for his people, same also did Daniel. like we both agree, protests or political activism do not always work. In fact, most times, protesters usually need to calm down and enter into peaceful dialogue before issues are resolved. The end does not always justify the means.
You are evasive. It's either right or wrong and you are in a dilemma because the two instances of RSA & USA produced extremely positive or you can say Christian values of equality (love your neighbor as yourself) yet it came from something you detest.
Nobody disputes 'looking to God' but we are subjecting Image123's version of the same to REAL LIFE. If you have no opinion on Luther or Rosa Parker then you should hold your peace forever
Image123: i'm not the Judge, i'm just saying what proper Christian conduct should be. In our "strive" towards pleasing God and christian growth, i think we should look more to God and His Word than before instead of just what obtains or obtained.
It is no guarantee I agree. So would you without batting an eyelid say that all Christians who participated in anti-apartheid protests were sinning, and they SHOULD NOT have?
Image123: Political activism accompanied by civil disobedience is not right for the Christian to engage in. Political activism is no guarantee anyway. We have many 'noble' and loved political activists who didn't get what they want. Fela, Solarin, Fawehinmi, Soyinka and co have not made Nigeria a better place for instance. i'm not promoting docility or nonchalance. Request and requirements can be made without civil disobedience. Daniel, Nehemiah and Moses all made requests that were against government policy, but they didn't resort to civil unrest, aluta, violent agitation, reviling, calumny, slander, insurrection and similar action common to unbelievers.
WinsomeX: The answer to the question, which wish not to answer, is that the author of this book you publish here is Cessationist. You cannot answer my question but you want me to answer yours.
Bro, You should have said that. I mean even if I answered it, I would never have figured it out. Instead of asking leading questions, just speak your mind
My position on Cessationism is clear. I am not a STRICT Cessationists but I believe the Cessationists arguments as discussed in the Strange Fire Conference should be listened to. You may not agree with all of their conclusions but you cannot claim they are not mostly speaking scriptures. And your wild allegation of saying Cessationism is cultic has no basis whatsoever.
Please improve your comprehension. I have not called cessationism cultic. I said as a belief it cuts across so many sects that it is difficult to tie it to one which is a characteristic of cultic beliefs. I said the same of continuationism. It was an illustration.
Cessationism arguments there are basically two 1. Gifts have ceased, live like they have 2. Gifts are contributing to schisms and so forth
The first is by no means clear scripturally nor historically. The second one is confirmation bias. We believe they have ceased and we must find fault with reported continuation of the same to prove us. As somebody said, that conference was no more than a Calvinism echo chamber
Image123, Where do you place political activism in your worldview which almost always is accompanied by some form of civil disobedience? Supposing Negroes in the US were just docile, they'd still be living under far worse conditions. The American Negro is the most advanced Negro in the whole world by any standards all due to agitation.
That's a leading question. If I were you, I'd focus on what he has written, refute that as opposed to wrestling the air around his convictions
That said, on cessationism, it is quite clear the apostle(s) taught cessation, what is in dispute is WHEN. Something I wish to know your mind on, have you ever studied the historicity of cessationism? Was it generally believed say in the second century for instance? And finally, is continuitionism cultic?
WinsomeX: vooks, I refer you to the last two paragraphs of the author's statement on pages 17. What do you think he means those words in relation to the Cessationists position. Note the words in bold:
"It is my conviction that the reader is entitled to know the theological position from which this volume is written so that there will be no misconceptions as to the ground for my evaluation. I am a Baptist minister, an evangelical holding to the inerrancy of Scripture, and teach in the fields of Biblical Theology, Comparative Religion, and Apologetics, and am currently Director of the M.A. program at the Simon Greenleaf School of Law (Orange, California).
It is impossible for me to agree with Dr. Braden, “an unrepentant liberal” (p. xi), or to agree that I “hold no brief for any particular cult, nor … violently opposed to any” (p. xi). While I am in agreement that “in general the cults represent the earnest attempt of millions of people to find the fulfillment of deep and legitimate needs of the human spirit, which most of them seem not to have found in the established churches” (p. xi), I feel there is still much more to be said. It has been wisely observed by someone that “a man who will not stand for something is quite likely to fall for almost anything.” So I have elected to stand on the ramparts of biblical Christianity as taught by the apostles, defended by the church fathers, rediscovered by the Reformers, and embodied in what is sometimes called Reformed theology."
Negro is his worst enemy. Go aks Rwanda who killed her 1M kids in under 100 days
Negro, you need comprehension classes like yesterday
Isaiah 14:1-2 (KJV) 1 For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. 2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids:
Where is Israel in Africa? Shall its 1.111B populace throng Palestine?
There is a song by Glenn Washington Beulah Land, stolen from Acts 16
Cariibean Negroes fantasizing about returning to 'Zion' but they can't because it's too far
MrPresident1: You will know better when you feel the lash of the bulala on your nape. You and your verminous kind, are in trouble.
Isaiah 14:2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
How has your 'science' changed the world apart from encouraging your kind to hallucinate?
MrPresident1: I am a CORE SCIENTIST AND RESEARCHER MY DEAR FRIEND, [s]THIS IS NOT ABOUT RELIGION, THIS IS ABOUT HERITAGE, THE HERITAGE OF THE RACE THAT CIVILISED THE WHOLE FREAKING UNIVERSE.
Just to clear your mind, here is the meaning of science;
science /ˈsʌɪəns/ noun: science the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.
Systematic study of structure and behavior through observation and research and experiment.
Start your search, Boy, may God give you understanding. [/s]
So Negro (Egypt) enslaved negro (Israel) Which Negro was you, the master or the slave?
MrPresident1: 2 Kings 7:2 2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be?
Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Johny, it is true long is long but nobody can dogmatically insist that that hairlength is 'too long' for a first century Jew. It pays to be honest; we lack sufficient information to make that call
johnydon22: Hey vooks i kinda understand your point but long is long . . . everyone will agree those pictures there have longs hairs but my problem is "Why dah heck should a dude say that long hairs is an abomination? So if i decide to wear my own hair it becomes an abomination... hmmm middle finger to paul or who ever wrote that crap"
You are highly impervious to reason. If you can't convince a smoker on his errors, then your theology is presumptuous
CAPTIVATOR: YOU speak exactly the way a smoker will enquire : u told me not to smoke " which scripture? , chapter ?, verse" is smoking written in scripture ? !
NATURE NEVER CHANGE ANSWER THIS :
1) THE PICTUREs UPLOADED by THE op contain a long hair ? YES OR NO.
they have long hair
2) test NATURE : WILL you not call such hair " long" if you found it on a man ??
I would call such long
Now, over to you. What makes you imagine that what is long to vooks is what Paul regarded as 'long'? Between vooks and and Paul we have different cultures separated by over 2000 years
John 20:28 English Standard Version (ESV) 28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”
CAPTIVATOR: [s]TELL us if this scripture is a fabrication ! If its truth , the doctrine of trinity ( the word "trinity" itself is a theological concept, the word "trinity" neva appeared anywhere in the scripture) is UNSCRIPTURAL, 1 COR 8:5,6
New Living Translation But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we live for him.
New International Version Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live;
This scripture NEED NO EXPLANATION, BUT I WILL COMMENT .
1) this scripture tell us there are how many God ? ONE !
2) as this scripture explains, hw many persons are composed in this ONE GOD ? ONLY THE FATHER ! The FATHER NOT The FATHER, SON AND HOLYGHOST ! BUT ONLY THE FATHER.
Is dis scriptural definition not more clear and direct than the theological One God + One God+ One God = One God nonsense .
But wait , probably that scripture is a fabrication AND IF ITS TRUTH ..... TELL US !
Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?
boynigeria: There are a lot of hatered, envy and ungodliness going on in the church of God today. Everyone wants to lead and there is no love. the big question is why? where is the love of Christ? cause all we do now is judge one another
