Christianity Etc › Re: Apostle Johnson Suleman Of Omega Fire Ministries Is A Spiritualist by vooks: 4:34pm On Nov 12, 2014
Since am not Nigerian, I picked this first.

5. Nollywood will keep losing people unless prayers are made and repentance; Many have gone fetish and there is high rate of immorality. I see three major stars dying this year unless prayers are made.
This is rather bold in that there is a timeframe; THIS YEAR whatever year he was speaking. But there is a rider; UNLESS PRAYERS ARE MADE. So if no star dies, prayers were made and they worked. If three die, prayers were never made. If less than three die, there were insufficient prayers. How can you go wrong with this?

Besides,, how many Nollywood stars would you regard as major? How many die every year?

Bidam:
OK
Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 4:24pm On Nov 12, 2014
my brother,
I know too well that John who came in the spirit and power of Elijah performed no miracles. This means miracles are not a condition for belief.

Be that as it may, in Mark, Jesus Christ promised signs to those who believe and he enumerated them. And we see the same unfolding spectacularly in Acts. So this verse is as literal as they get. Do you agree?

anukulapo:
Would you have believed John the Baptist? He never performed any sign nor showed any wonder YET even the (stiff necked) jews knew he was a true prophet...WITHOUT signs. Luke 20

Our anchor is on faith (things not seen) not on signs and wonders. Shalom!
Christianity Etc › Re: Apostle Johnson Suleman Of Omega Fire Ministries Is A Spiritualist by vooks: 4:19pm On Nov 12, 2014
There is nothing to believe or doubt there. All are vague generalities and he is bound to get some right.
it is a tactic of false prophets; shoot far, wide and severally while maintaining enough vagueness so that you are NEVER caught lying. And take cues from the headlines cheesy

Pick any statement there and let's see if it is verifiable

Bidam:
Are you doubting his prophecies?
Christianity Etc › Re: The Deception Of Malachi 3:10-11 "Devourer" And "Storehouse" EXPOSED by vooks:
I wonder whether tithers knocking themselves out with 10% income know the average Jew tithed 22% p.a in total

1. Leviticus 27:30-33 and Numbers 18:21 is the one for Levites- 10%
2. Deut 14:22-27 is the festive tithe supposed to be eaten - 10% of 90%= 9%
3. And of course the welfare tithe of Deut 14:28-29 every third year- 10%/3 = 3.3% p.a
Christianity Etc › Re: 20 Things You Dont Know About Kumuyi by vooks: 3:50pm On Nov 12, 2014
I always wonder why the Pharisee felt need to remind God of his perfect tithing streak. Must be because few accomplished that feat. Made him special.

If this man has escaped the love of money which pierces many with sorrows, praise be to God, but materialism is not the only thing that ails the Body of Christ. He may excel there and flop elsewhere. Pastor Jon Coulson once said that whenever men compare their strengths with others' weaknesses, they seem like angels and others like demons.
paulGrundy:
Even at that Kumuyi does not live an extravagant and materialistic lifestyle like most of our modern day pastors.

Why would you misquote my moniker and paraphrase a verse and ascribe it to me?
Only if you are all I said and more.

Why do I keep on calling you a woman? I have no idea, I mistake your moniker or style for somebody else. Profuse apologies once again wink
Image123:
This hypocrite was telling Bidam not to talk less of women on November 7. Meanwhile the pretender knows that i am male, it is clearly indicated, and Gombs had earlier corrected him thinking he did not know. That was after he called me a she in october. He apologized then but can a leopard change his spots? It adds nothing to me on whether i am called a woman or a man, or any other name. Unfortunately, vooks thinks calling me a woman is derogatory and an insult. My handle remains Image123(m), i wonder why any professing christian would call anyone Mrs Dumbo Obtuse Esq. Go and visit calvary and obtain grace that delivers from hypocrisy, you have more issues than arguing about prosperity or tithes.

Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 1:59pm On Nov 12, 2014
WHy should I do more than Jesus did Sir?
I don't know of nobody who matched Jesus' feats let alone exceed them, but I do know of cowards who are terrorized by demons because they know not scriptures nor the power of God wink

shdemidemi:
Why are you shying away from what seem logical to you, are you confused? Shouldn't you be doing even more than Jesus did?

How do you choose those you heal, don't you feel for the rest?
Christianity Etc › Re: The Midas Touch- A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity - Kenneth Hagin by vooks: 1:36pm On Nov 12, 2014
UNKNOWN TONGUE. Google that on shdemidemi's beloved 'infallible' 'closer-to-originals' KJV and you get six (6) hits ALL in 1 Corinthians and ALL in the fourteenth chapter. It don't stop there, the UNKNOWN is italicized in ALL the six occurrences because it was the dilligent translators that interpolated. The word was not in the ORIGINAL.

Here are the occurrences;

1 Corinthians 14:2
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

1 Corinthians 14:4
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

1 Corinthians 14:13
Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

1 Corinthians 14:14
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

1 Corinthians 14:19
Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

1 Corinthians 14:27
If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

So speaking in an unknown tongue is actually speaking in a tongue!
Now, is speaking in tongues different from speaking in a tongue?
I said before, doctrines which can only be propped using a SPECIFIC version or translation of the Bible are weak and man made and most certainly unworthy clinging to or passing them on

mbaemeka:
Just thought to throw this into the mix.

1 Corinthians 13:1 KJV

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Paul said there is a Tongues of men and then there is one of Angels- heavenly beings, God. And he said he spoke both.

Tongues of men can be understood by men but I wager that Tongues of Angels can't be interpreted by men.

Yes Paul called it TONGUES of Angels not Tongue or what not.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Midas Touch- A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity - Kenneth Hagin by vooks: 1:27pm On Nov 12, 2014
You never discussed tongues nowhere but you robotically kept repeating that tongue and tongues are different and that self-edification is wicked and carnal but edification of the church is not cheesy. I stopped laughing when I discovered you were dead serious

I can excuse your inability to defend the indefensible. I would get a heart attack out of shock if you could wink
shdemidemi:
It is this one that you brought it to that is about tongues right!

I am not going to discuss tongues all over again on this thread, sorry.

Just make sure you quote me right if you must do so. Thanks
Christianity Etc › Re: The Midas Touch- A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity - Kenneth Hagin by vooks: 1:08pm On Nov 12, 2014
My brother, that thread was about NT prophets not tongues smiley

Can you support this dichotomy from scriptures?

shdemidemi:
Why bring this issue here when we have a whole thread to ourself, are you this immature!

If you must quote me, please quote me right.

SPEAKING IN AN UNKNOWN TONGUE (guttural sound had no pronunciation) IS DIFFERENT FROM SPEAKING IN TONGUES(languages).
Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 1:04pm On Nov 12, 2014
Am sorry about Siloam, it is Bethesda- John 5:1-9

SO we have records of Jesus healing All that were brought to Him but we also have him selectively healing one in a crowd of sick folk.

Anyway, even if I don't heal them as Jesus did, does that validate your fickle tail-between-your-legs theory of casting-out-demons-expired-1900yrs ?
shdemidemi:
Will you clean off all the passages where he healed all that was brought to Him?

Matthew 4:24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

Matthew 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

My friend, Jesus told one man to go wash at the pool of Siloam. what are you talking about?

Now, why don't you heal all?

You see what lies do to people! answer questions if you have the courage.
Christianity Etc › Re: 20 Things You Dont Know About Kumuyi by vooks: 12:35pm On Nov 12, 2014
No, the Pharisee prayed to God demonstrating his piety through tithing.

This is somewhat an apology, a defence for the man not sure from what
Vikkie14:
Bro, i agree with you but the difference is that the pharisee publicly declare his own. This information is from an inside source and from the admin. not from the man. You can get the book written by Alan Isaacson called "Deeper Life" to get an indepth opinion of him.
Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 12:12pm On Nov 12, 2014
Read your Bible sir, he never healed all, or do you suppose there was just one lame man at Pool of Siloam?

What help can you give to a demoniac? Teaching them how helpless you are since casting demons is for immature and carnal Christians?
shdemidemi:
Thank God for your life.

Why exactly do you not heal all of them? do you just choose those who you think deserve your healing power?

Jesus healed all with infirmities and He said you 'vooks' will do more than He did. what exactly is the problem, why are you healing some and not all?
Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 11:57am On Nov 12, 2014
I don't heal all of them. You on the other hand would never cross paths with a demoniac since casting out demons ability expired 1900 years ago and even then it was just for Jews not Gentiles like yourself
shdemidemi:
Don't you run into blind people, dead people or bed ridden people, how many of them have you healed with this true power you have?
Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 11:40am On Nov 12, 2014
Signs and wonders are not lifestyles but events. Did Paul raise every dead person he ran into? How could he not heal Trophimus? God moves as He wills sir.

What would you do if you ran into a demoniac seeing power to cast out demons was given to Jews and not Gentiles and the sdame expired in 96AD when the last chapter of Revelation was penned?
shdemidemi:
Do you have the real power to wake up the dead like Paul did, open the eyes of the blind like Peter did, et al? At least you have believed and these signs should readily follow you if we go by your warped understanding of scripture.

You have proved your immaturity to have a discussion void of insults, so much for one who has the gift of the Holy Spirit in him. Please ignore my moniker if you find it hard to talk like one with manners.
Christianity Etc › Re: 20 Things You Dont Know About Kumuyi by vooks: 11:31am On Nov 12, 2014
I don't know anything about the man and am not judging him in any way, just stating obvious facts.

There is a tendency to magnify your strengths against another's weaknesses making you appear like a demigod.

He may be prudent on money, a virtue in a shark infested evangelical community but dwelling on it reeks of self-righteousness. Recall the Pharisee who gloated to God over his squeaky clean tithing record?
Vikkie14:
I get your point but the man we are talking about here doesnt do that. He doesn't preach about prosperity because according to him, he believe that there is a thin line between prosperity and covetousness. You will not agree with me on this that he doesn't receives salary or grants until you have an encounter with him or his church administration. #peace
Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 11:26am On Nov 12, 2014
Why cling to things you can't defend?
It is difficult defending traditions with scriptures. Actually it is impossible

The power of God? Peter told us this is a gift and it is for them, their children and all afar off (you and me) as many as the Lord may call.

A sign of weak CHristians is they run the opposite direction whenever they bump into a demoniac because God sent them to preach the gospel not cast out demons and in any case they have no idea to where they should cast them out. latter day sons of Sceva

You my friend are not ignorant but deliberately obtuse. you have vowed your cocoon of traditions will be impenetrable to Truth
shdemidemi:
If I don't understand it, it is illogical and man made.

If your doctrine is one that should sound palatable or logical in the ears of an intelligent heathen, you might need to go check what you are saying.

Who has the corner to the original power of God, you?

Most of your statements reek of one who lack basic understanding of scriptures.

Mark 16:17 Amplified Bible (AMP)
17 And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;

Are you included in those who believe in this verse?

shdemidemi:
My friend, do you understand the difference between being a gentile/jew to being a christian.

Do you also understand the difference between Jewish christians (with the temple worship/jewish tradition/rituals et al) to the body of Christ void of any form of legalism?
Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 11:02am On Nov 12, 2014
Wrong.
I have least tolerance for illogical man-made doctrines that can't stand the scrutiny of an intelligent heathen let alone the Sword of the Spirit. There are two types of delusion in the camp of those who know not the scriptures nor the power of God
1. They consult occult practices to taste power and fake God's power
2. They explain away their powerlessness using the most unintelligent arguments such as 'am not sent to brawl demons'

If only they desired Holy Spirit and the Father would gladly baptize them.

What does it mean to EDIFY?
shdemidemi:
It is one of two things, you are either ignorant of the truth or confused. The same person who says Mba cannot tell God when he wants to leave the world also believe man has power through prayers i.e tongues to edify self. No wonder Mr Mba said you are not far from his beliefs.

Do you know what it means to be edified?
Christianity Etc › Re: The Midas Touch- A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity - Kenneth Hagin by vooks: 10:58am On Nov 12, 2014
If your unintelligent understanding of that verse is the Truth (it is not) the righteous (Christians) should live longer, get wealthier and basically healthier over non-believers
Bidam:
And what did Ps 92 tell you? Did you see the word exceptional there?
Christianity Etc › Re: The Midas Touch- A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity - Kenneth Hagin by vooks: 10:55am On Nov 12, 2014
Taking God's Word as it is means reading the context, addressee and so forth before blowing hot air. Literalism borders on extremism and that's why we had Inquisition. It breeds zeal for God that is not according to knowledge/intelligence/wisdom...in other words foolishness

God is not a liar.

Matthew 19:29 Amplified Bible (AMP)
29 And anyone and everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for My name’s sake will receive [a]many [even a hundred] times more and will inherit eternal life.

Do you believe what Jesus said here?
Bidam:
No you don't take the word of God as it is. I even used Jesus as a template and a pattern to follow who was MORE righteous than Hezekiah and died at 33, He is the pattern son of the NT Believer, was He threatened by sickness and diseases? Did He not quote from the same Isaiah you despise right now?
God says a child shall die at 100, are you calling God a liar? I didn't tell you to quote this verse for me, am well aware of it. It doesn't answer my questions here.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Midas Touch- A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity - Kenneth Hagin by vooks: 10:42am On Nov 12, 2014
Exceptionally means above-average health, wealth and longevity. In the 2000 years of Christianity, have we had Christians wealthier, healthier and living longer because of Psalms 92?
Bidam:
A circular argument really. Cancel the word exceptionally and show us scripture that shows Paul was miserable, wretched, unclothed, poverty stricken and plagued with sicknesses and diseases.
Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 10:34am On Nov 12, 2014
Is there any record of gentiles laying hands on believers and the believers recieving the baptism of the Holy Spirit? What about healing?

If there is none, then it is quite possible, according to shdemidemi, Gentiles should never lay hands on anyone
Bidam:
You don't blame him, maybe he read in to the text of Acts 19:13-14. So because it wasn't on record that a gentile did not cast out devils it means christians shouldn't do the same abi?
Christianity Etc › Re: Apostle Johnson Suleman Of Omega Fire Ministries Is A Spiritualist by vooks: 10:31am On Nov 12, 2014

I don't think so. I believe the prediction was made by him in 2013.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Midas Touch- A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity - Kenneth Hagin by vooks: 10:29am On Nov 12, 2014
I also take the word of God as it is. You should show me where I haven't done this.
Is King Hezekiah's death at 54 years and life threatening disease at 35 inconsistent with your Psalms 92 presumptions?

A day before the Lord is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day. Does it mean that 1 day=1000 years?

Bidam:
No i am not, i take the word of God as it is, i don't debate it nor treat it with unbelief by comparing it with someone who died at 54 and 33. Is it not the same Jesus who you worship that quoted Isaiah 61:1-3 to His Jewish audience, is that book not also applicable to you or is it far from you? Are you calling God a liar when He says a child shall die @ 100?
Christianity Etc › Re: The Midas Touch- A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity - Kenneth Hagin by vooks: 10:25am On Nov 12, 2014
if there is a health, wealth and long life utopia, Paul and his contemporaries must have missed it because they were not exceptionally wealthy nor did they enjoy disease-free lives wink

Bidam:
My bro..the delusion is on you who reason the word of God like unbelievers. Don't deride yourself that Paul,Timothy and Trophimus never took those scripture on what God says seriously.
Christianity Etc › Re: 20 Things You Dont Know About Kumuyi by vooks: 8:30am On Nov 12, 2014
And precisely for the same reason do you find that ONLY the ministers prosper with the probability of one out of one. The rest have a less than one probability of prospering.

Ministers will ALWAYS prosper but you (congregant/tither) may/may not prosper. This makes them bad examples of the efficacy of the prosperity gospel since with them there is no downside risk unlike you. cheesy

Of course, that's how pentecostals are run.
Christianity Etc › Re: The New Testament Prophets Defined. by vooks: 8:24am On Nov 12, 2014
Bidam my brother,
This is his response to Mark 16:17

shdemidemi:
It was written to the Jewish believers?

Those who believe what they preach.
Bidam:
So who is the God of Paul that says Signs shall follow them that believe? Would you rather obey Paul than Jesus? Even at that Paul says you should imitate him as he imitate Christ. Paul cast out a demon from a girl with the spirit of divination in philippi and he encourage the philippians to put INTO practice what they heard from him.So who are you now following with this kind of wrong doctrines you teach? Are you afraid of devils? SMH for your kind of christianity.
Christianity Etc › Re: 20 Things You Dont Know About Kumuyi by vooks: 8:01am On Nov 12, 2014
There is a strong positive correlation between control over church funds and the minister's fortunes

stinggy:
What even strike is that the guy owns the church, so he has the right to spend whatever fraction of the church's money he wants. Why will I draw a salary scale for myself when I have the total fund at my disposal?
