let's see what we have learnt from you 1. I do not believe we should be going to God with a mindset that we want a problem solved.2. He knows all you need for the journey He had prepared even before you were born. All those things you think you need are secondary, the primary assignment is to look for God and carry out His work3. , asking is a part of prayer4. I believe we are free to pour our minds to God, and ask whatever we choose to ask, 5. Sometimes we get better when we speak out. Instead of looking for that person to pour your out to or cry to, why not take it to God in prayers. 6. I ask when it feels like its so painful to suppress the pain within me,So you should NEVER seek solutions to your problems in prayers because God already knows what you need but you should aks something in prayers because aksing is part of prayers and you are free to aks and pour out your heart especially since it feels better speaking out. That's why you should aks when you are painfully suppressing the pain within you. Just remember don't try to get solutions You are confused. Totally shdemidemi: EOD. |

So should I or should I not ask? What have I to do with His will anyway? Do I enforce it in praying? WHy had it not been done before asking? shdemidemi: I have told you asking does not change God, it is for me doing the asking. Jesus asked that the cup pass away, because of the pain the body was subjected to. Likewise, I ask when it feels like its so painful to suppress the pain within me, but like Jesus I end my asking with 'NOT MY WILL BUT YOUR WILL'.
His will will always be better. |

Why should you ask anything yet He knows what you need before you were born? Isn't asking redundant? I do not believe we should be going to God with a mindset that we want a problem solved.
He knows all you need for the journey He had prepared even before you were born. All those things you think you need are secondary, the primary assignment is to look for God and carry out His work. shdemidemi: Prayer is mainly a communication between man and God, and not necessarily asking. However, asking is a part of prayer. Prayer is very important, there must be communication between the two parties if they must sustain the relationship. When you go and study your scripture, you are praying because that is where you hear God speak. You reciprocate by giving thanks to God.
Asking God does not mean you will get, although God guarantees He will answer. I believe we are free to pour our minds to God, and ask whatever we choose to ask, no matter how foolish it may sound. He can say YES to your request, He can say NO like He did with Paul and He can say NOT YET.
The conventional teachings that tells us God must answer YES, only if we play our part is outlandish to scripture and christianity. This teaching only lead to frustration and gradually it might lead to complete unbelief based on false hopes. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Joagbaje’s Miracle HIV Healing Claim Debunked by vooks: 11:51am On Nov 17, 2014 |
Is there need for prayers? Why did Jesus pray overnight severally seeing His Father already knew what he needed? shdemidemi: This is where the issue of self versus God comes in. Christianity is not about self but about God. Jesus hated self so He died, the apostles hated self, they suffered and most were martyred.
GOD IS NOT A MEANS TO AN END, HE IS AN END IN HIMSELF.
God expects us to present ourselves as LIVING SACRIFICE. A sacrifice is something you give to someone with no intention of getting it back. The paradox here is, christians claim to give their life to God yet they hold on to it.
The God you claim to give your life to says WORRY NOT ABOUT THE FOOD YOU WILL EAT EVEN THE CLOTHES YOU WILL WEAR (SELF) because He knows all you need for the journey He had prepared even before you were born. All those things you think you need are secondary, the primary assignment is to look for God and carry out His work. When you know God, your thinking about those things you would have gone to jo for will most likely change.
I have a child that never ask me for the necessary things he needs. All he ask are stupid things like sweetie, games et al which I try to provide sometimes. But he would never ask me for the university he is going to go to, the course he will take, how we have a house to live in, where the next meal will come from. I don't blame him for this because he is only a child. Like my child, you are only being a (spiritual babe) child when you go to God asking for frivolities (you might not see them as that).
Look for God through His Word alone and stop being vain. Christianity is not a SELFIE call, rather it is a call to SERVICE. |

Excellent submission. What should we pray to God for if not our problems? shdemidemi: If anyone 'believe God for healing' and truly gets healed, that one should take it as a time when heaven meets with chance for that change. He should give thanks. The mistake such person will make is to map out formulas (e.g 10 ways to healing, 20 ways to prosperity) to others on how to make God do what you want, or misdirect the reason for the miracle to a man or present himself as a miracle maker.
I do not believe we should be going to God with a mindset that we want a problem solved. If your god isn't blind or deaf or a slow thinker, he wouldn't create you without a purpose. If he creates you with a purpose he must also provide everything necessary to carry out the purpose for which you were made to the letter.
Do what is naturally needed and humanly required to be done within the confines of God and you will get all that is needed (your lot). Don't look for Jo and his cohorts for those things you don't have, make do with that which you have. |

Circular reasoning. Are we in agreement that speaking in an unknown tongue and speaking in tongues are the same thing? If not can you demonstrate from scriptures the difference,or at least refute the wisdom with which I shattered your myths and traditions? If you can't admit to doctrinal error as minor as that, what business have I to do with you? You will always be learning and never coming to the truth. I will proceed on to teach others with a modicum of reverence for the scriptures shdemidemi: At least they recorded a lot for all eyes to see. At the height of the era of miracles, it was like wildfire. Paul was working miracles for fun, if Timothy were to be around Paul at this time, there would have been no need for anaesthetic (Alcohol) prescription by Paul, I believe. At a point, like me, paul faced his troubles trusting God for succour.
Just show me two miracles that you have done and I am not talking 'I prayed and someone's headache left'. Show me just two recorded wonders, that shouldn't be difficult since you claim you have that power and God will always bend His back when you come calling. |

All SirJohn is asking for is ONE NOTABLE MIRACLE Acts 4:16 (ESV) 16 saying, “What shall we do with these men? For that a notable sign has been performed through them is evident to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny itWhy is it so difficult to offer one for a people that do much more than what Jesus ever did? SirJohn: Well this is my third attempt to verify Joagbajes bogus claims, the first I think was a young boy he claimed he healed of a hole in the heart, he said he had x-ray evidence; when I asked Jo to produce the X-ray, he later turned and said he didn't have it, this was years ago. The second of course was the 'blind' woman, my only regret was that I never recorded the conversation I had with her like I did for Jeff. She said in very clear English that 'she was not blind' I even spoke with her brother and it was the same thing he told me. but when Jo called her back, she denied ever telling me that and told Jo I was a liar. At least, from this latest story, you can now judge who was lying. Its either these people are afraid to disappoint Joagbaje so they lie to massage his 'MOG ego' or Joagbaje himself is the one lying. |

Then quit infantile demands such as healing people in hospitals to prove a point. Even at the height of your so called era of miracles, not everyone received their healing. Why should you demand the same from me? shdemidemi: The same reason why you and I can't heal any one we feel deserves healing from God today. His grace is sufficient for Paul, timothy and Epaphroditus and by extension every one who walk on the surface of the earth.
Paul realised how he had to submit to God's will regardless of emotions. He persevered and endured hardship for His master. Paul's health, Timothy's health were second fiddle, the primary reason for their existence was to carry out the agenda of God and not the carnal search for performing wonders. |

And why couldn't he heal Timothy of his frequent ailments or Trophimus whom he left sick? shdemidemi: If you are yet to comprehend what I think about the apostles, you sure have issues.
Paul was adequately equipped to carry out signs to authenticate the gospel. This was made so because of the people's unbelief. Today, God is no more in the business of showing you anything. If the word of God does not cause you to believe, wonders won't do it.
I dare you to show us your miracles or name one man that can wrought sincere wonders. |

Brilliant response Mark, Image123, I never thought I would live to see that question. One reason is there was no paper money back then and if God wanted money tithes,He would have to make do with gold and silver coins. The other reason is God was NEVER interested in money which was readily available. So you have food and money and God picks food. Next, you have money and no food and man elects to substitute it for food and offer 10% against a minimum 22% and gloats over their COMPLIANCE with Torah. They even claim to be doing it in faith. They are no different from the Pharisee who reminded God that he is 'not as other men' MarkMiwerds: Oil and wine are found in the fruit. One need only squeeze olives to get olive oil.
Try squeezing a bunch of olives, and you will see what i mean.
One only need squesze grapes to get wine.
Again, squeeze a cluster of grapes, and you will see what I mean.
Now, go outside and hug a tree. Squeeze it as hard as you can. Bet it won't produce a single naira. You can knock the tree down and park a 60 ton vehicle over it, but it still will not produce money.
Fact is, in order get paper money, man has to fashion the material himself. Paper money is not something that God created, man did. |

My brother, If the tithe is worth $100 you redeem it at $100 and add 1/5 of the $100 or $20 so you pay $120 for something worth $100. $120 is 120% of the $100 the tithe is worth AND 12% of the produce priced at $1,000. So you were half right. Practice 3D thinking when you take breaks from finding fault with vooks Bidam: Yeah, i actually saw a fifth part in that verse of scripture, my grouse with the chap is where did he see 120%? The way i see that verse is if a person decided not to pay his tithes at the appropriate time, but to pay it at a later date. Whatever tithe he did not pay at the correct time, he should then add an extra one fifth to the tithe when he does pay it. E.g. If a man earns £250 and decides to redeem his tithe, then when he does pay it back he should pay £25 + £5 (one fifth) = £30 in total. So it is actually 12% not 120%. |

With what else would you redeem your farm produce? Besides, Deut 14:24-26 (ESV) 24 And if the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, when the Lord your God blesses you, because the place is too far from you, which the Lord your God chooses, to set his name there, 25 then you shall turn it into money and bind up the money in your hand and go to the place that the Lord your God chooses 26 and spend the money for whatever you desire—oxen or sheep or wine or strong drink, whatever your appetite craves. This applies to the second/festival tithe. It means tithes were not agrarian because that's all there was in Israel, there was money, currency, gold and silver coins. If a tithe could be converted into money and then back into farm produce at Jerusalem, there was a good opportunity for God to institute monetary tithes; they would have been more convenient and they would have been applicable to all vocations not just agriculture. But He didn't,yet some 400 years after Pentecost, some smart Catholics did just that. Bidam: You are going off course, read the preceding verse to know how the redeem is done. Redeem is simply to buy back, just as Christ redeem us from the curse of the LAW, the question is, is it with money? It is also used of God buying his people back from the slavery of Egypt (Exodus 6:6; Isaiah 51:10; 63:9). |

Paul worked with his hands to earn a living. Why can't Munroe? Would you have raised a finger against him if he sold tents like Paul? Which other gospel did he preach? Care to explain? Don't get superstitious on me, lay it all bare. His death has nothing to do with me WinsomeX: How do you justify a so called Christian minister doing such "business" when the Master said freely you have received, freely give.
Of course very word may not be a sermon. But can't it be?
Even if I admit that every word of a minister is not a sermon, a conference of that magnitude with advertised paid entry, does it sound like every word to you? Does it sound like everyday regular talk?
Well, let me remind you what I said: Munroe did not preach Jesus' gospel. He preached another gospel. Now that he is dead may he find mercy with his God. If however he would be judged on the "gospel" he preached, your guess is as good as mine. And if you cannot guess what I am thinking, I can understand why threads like this run 60+ pages. |
