How would he save him if he be dead? Acknowledging Jesus existence is the first step. You are not far from the truth you son of perdition
sonOfLucifer: May the dead Jew save his true disciple Joe Agbaye from this ridicule and punish the households of all his mockers like he did the Pharisees.
12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
I find a parallel between miracles being faked to 'bring glory to God' and this incidence. Religious leaders shamelessly bribed and coached fake witnesses to indict Stephen of blasphemy. Am certain they believed they were protecting their religion from the heresy that they deemed Christianity to be. Lying to advance and protect their religion ws OK.
Christianity thrived and spread for hundreds of years with little to no miracles, prophecies and prosperity bait boosting it. Nowadays a man who don't sail in any of the above 'does not know scriptures nor the power of God'. He is impotent.
Ministers not only seek these three but they will not hesitate to fake them to attract crowds. Bigger crowds satisfy ego not to mention they offer more money. The same crowd that was drawn to the 'ACTION' require more 'ACTION' to keep them.
And I notice the same three( miracles, prosperity and prophecy) are ALWAYS attached to the MoG or a congregation. It doesn't matter how much faith and prayers you raised to get your healing, if it happened at home, it is less attractive. It is 'the man of God did ..... and I received my healing, prophecy business deal'. They are cleverly orchestrated to draw attention to a particular church or person. That's why the testimonies of privately sought and procured breakthroughs, miracles or prophecies are seldom advertised.
paulGrundy: 1. Trying to prove miracles to trolls. Forgive my use of that word, but it best brings out the description am trying to potray. Many of the skeptics you are showing these testimonies to do not believe in healing. Even if God used you to grow the amputated limbs of oscar Pistorius they would never believe. these people are out there to ridicule and mock you, they don't want to see the truth. Even before you made your response on sirJohns thread, some had already been implying that you are trying to bribe sirJohn even in the face of sirJohns baseless accusation. What am typing is not to be taken lightly, because am seeing someone that is being setup for an elaborate diabolic scheme. Smh. And if care is not taken, those vultures in Nairaland may involve the police and accuse you wrongly. Wisdom is profitable to direct!.
Trolls are there to annoy you and distort the facts, what they need is not videos of live miracles what they need is a personal demonstration of power What sirJohn needs is not videos of miracles, he needs a miracle! That's the only way the truth of jesus' power can be real to him! Videos of healing schools, miracles are for belivers, to strenghten their faith! Instead of posting videos, invite them to your meetings!
2. Posting sensitive information online:
Hmm. You are not a child, you need not be told this, but I feel a sense of responsibility on my part to tell you. People have a very strong tendency to harm others when they are anonymous. Nairaland is a site where everyone is anonymous. There have been cases where some people have been beaten, harassed threaten (I have gotten threat e-mails a lot from my Jehovahs witness friends in this site btw on one occasion a death threat!) or even killed by internet enemies. Be careful! posting sensitve information about yourself and those who received their healing through you exposes you to danger!
#another mistake. If the investigator is a skeptic, he would say he confirmed from Jeff that you are fraud, and that the proofs were faked and that the miracle was staged. All he just needs is a ridiculous and senseless point and then the arguments goes on and on and on..typical of internet trolls.
Have you then achieved anything? No. Remember what they did to pastor Chris Oyakhilome. .
. I can hear a faint laughter of sirjohn behind his handle. Smh. The guy is just taking your goodwill and generousity for a ride. how am I not sure that this is a ploy by sirjohn to extort money out of you. Just saying... am not accusing anyone, I just want to you to think about it. But whatever you do, NEVER GIVE IN TO CHEAP BLACKMAIL. .
sirJohn may infact be taking you for a ride .
.
My advice!
Stop trying to prove anything to sirJohn or anybody, but whatever you do, be careful.
Any way I have prayed for you and I firmly believe in my spirit that any conspirator of any manipulative scheme shall be disgraced openly by the power of the holyghost!
1.Miracles are exceptional and quite rare. far too rare to attract the crowds these fraudsters need. So they add to the genuine stage magic.
2. Fools believe everything. I have met negroes who believe deflowering virgins cures HIV. Joagbaje peddled his BS to intelligent primates
3. Reverse psychology. You put up half of Joagbaje's bravado and anyone would start believing your BS for the mere force with which you push it. Reversed Reverse psychology blew his BS out of the water. He was provoked to dare, he dared all the more
4. Repetition. Hitler or Stalin once said you tell a lie often enough and loud enough and people start believing it. Joagbaje believed his own lies. So sniffed HIV demon(s) leaving the man he prayed for but he couldn't sniff lies nor the same demons inside the man testifying from his pulpit
mbaemeka: Did you ever read of John? the one that wrote the book of Revelation, i mean? did you? Bible students say after Emperor Domitian attempted burning him in a pot of oil to no avail, he banished him to the island of Patmos where John eventually wrote the Book of Revelations. They concluded, (the emperor and his cohorts) that John wasnt human. thats why you see in many translations he was called St. John "the divine".
Do you also remember what Jesus said to Peter when he tried to counter what the master said about John in the book of John? Read Jn 21:22 &23. He said "if i will that he remain till i come what is that to you peter?" What is that to you alatheia? what is it to you nuclearboy? what is to you? If God said so and so to mba_emeka,donnie, joagbaje and a plethora of others, what is that to you?
Go and read Pauls letter to the philipians particularly the second chapter and sixth verse. Bible says (paraphrasing)that Jesus didnt consider it robbery to be equal with God! Go and study it if you havent. he does not consider it robbery! go back a little to the preceeding verse can you see it? "let this MIND be in YOU that was also in CHRIST" God wants us to have the mindset of Jesus- if he said "I'M THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD" then i can say "MBA_EMEKA" is the light of the world!
You say heresy! WOFers! Rubbish! i say to you ignorance! read the book of hebrews 13:5 God said "i will not live you nor forsake you" so that WE MIGHT BOLDLY SAY "the lord is my helper i shall not fear what MAN shall do unto me" didnt you see it. God has said it so that we may BOLDLY say it too i.e say the same things with God in agreement with him. (sighs) if God says "youre my righteousness" then i can boldly say "i am the righteousness of God" simple. If he says "you are a joint-heir(not co-heir) with christ" then i can boldly say same. If God says "you are born of me" "you hail from me" i can say BOLDLY " i hail from God" "i'm a god in this world" if he says" i am the father of glory" then i can boldly say "i am the glory of God" shekinah.
But dont worry joagbaje, the message isnt for everyone the bible says "they are life(the words of God) to those that FIND THEM" meaning not all will find them. but i'm gratful i did. I'M THE GLORY OF GOD, HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, HIS SON-MEANING I'M ALSO A GOD, AN HEIR + AM RICH AND LOADED! THANK YOU!
Ignoramus. They could dedicate/devote just about everything. And anything devoted became DEVOTED THING. But not all DEVOTED THINGS were tithed. A tithe by the virtue of the command was already a DEVOTED THING
repeat after me slowly....' ALL Tithes were DEVOTED THINGS but not ALL DEVOTED THINGS were tithes'. It's like saying ALL Brits speak English but not ALL English speakers are Brits. Comprende?
Image123: Leviticus 27:28 Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.
EVERY DEVOTED THING was "commanded" as holy unto the LORD. Deceiving people ignorantly that it's ONLY agricultural products is dishonesty.
How comes tithes could be redeemed in MONEY at 120% of their cost? There was money in circulation long before Moses
Image123: Who and where stated emphatically that people could not tithe money? On the rest of your post, we've been through the agrarian economy explanation severally. People do business with gold and barrels of oil. It's more common and convenient today to do exchanges with cash. It was more common and traditional to live with agricultural produce than silver. Consider the times.
Add to this, tithes could be redeemed at 120% of their estimated value. So much for agrarian argument
MarkMiwerds: Funny, people were paid money for their work in the New Testament, yet were not required to tithe it. Nor was tithing of money ever a suggestion in either the Old or New Testament.
People bought and sold with their money. Yet were never told "you must tithe your money". Nor was it suggested they could tithe their money.
But it was stated emphatically that they could not.
A 'truth' that can't stand scriptures. Very sad. Joseph Smith was 'graciously shown truths' and he couldn't care what nobody not even scriptures said. Ditto Ellen G White
Image123: The point where i wish you good luck. God has graciously shown me the truth already and i accepted Him. Every other truth is irrelevant, thanks.
I would never mock diseases but he reminds me of autism
StarBoard: And we are complaining that Nollywood has no good screenplay writers (jo) and actors(jeff). They are busy leading people astray instead of following their true calling and earning an honest living.
And one minion is posting .gifs and expects us to take him seriously while another is defining fraud in a brainless manner.
Gombs is a Christ Embassy hooligan. He will soil this place with gifs to irritate you. Ignore the kid. His other specialty is spewing Oyaks puke all over.
Let's get this straight; 1. A man shows up at Joagbaje's church and testifies of his prior visit where prayers were made for him and how he was healed of HIV and his negative status confirmed in three hospitals
2. The man claims to be another man being prayed for for the same disease in the same church
3. The man being prayed for is said to be HIV+ and he was healed
4. The man claiming to have been healed turns out to be HIV+
Why would a HIV+ man give false testimony of being healed and how the same was confirmed by three separate hospital tests? This man is an ACCOMPLICE; they had his spectacular testimony and they spiced it with the prayers. But since no prayers were offered, they used the best match ( a dead guy by now otherwise he'd have gone back to testify!) for nostalgia
PS: joagbaje can somewhat perceive/discern HIV leaving the sick guy's body but can't discern the same HIV inside the man in front of him purporting to have been healed?
God seldom rejects unsolicited offerings. Think Hannah offering Samuel, or Jacob offering to tithe (which is weird if tithing was a practice back then), or Annanias and Saphira. If you for a second dropped your self-righteous Pharaisical garb and gave him 100% of your wealth and not just a fickle accounting 10% of your net salary, He would accept it.
His acceptance don't make that a rule, requirement or a command or even a principle. This is why you defend tithing with all your strength yet you would NEVER sell your own house or land and lay the money at your MoG's feet unless 'God directs' you like Barnabas. Why would you stop at 10%? Why not give 90% and reap 9 times your blessings?
Image123: Thankfully, God has not made you his customs duty officer. Christians don't need you as mediator or interface between them and God. You are in no position to dictate what Christians must give God. God is not complaining, neither is He mocked. It is self appointed customs worker without pay who have issues, telling others "No, no no, don't bring this one to God, bring that one instead". BRING YE ALL THE TITHES.
The same verse is quoted in Hebrews 2 and whereas elohim may mean God, it is clear just as in the Septuagint that angels were meant
Hebrews 2:6-9 King James Version (KJV) 6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him? 7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: 8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
You are wrongly applying the scripture here. The heb word for "angels" here is "Elohim" which makes reference to Godhead.
Psalms 8:5 ASV 5 For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor.
If you guys understand the witings of Paul and John , you may understands these truths. And that's when you can really understand pastor chris teachings.
So why was Herod smitten when people called him god?
Joagbaje: I'm surprised a thread has to be opened for me on this. The issue of a Christian being a god is so simple. Being a god does not mean you have taken over Gods position. A god is a judge , administrator and enforcer on the earth. We enforce the will of almighty God on earth as his children.
Satan became the god of this world through Adams fall. He stole adamic power. Adam delivered his authority to Satan through satan subtility. Look at the audacity with which he spoke to christ.
Luke 4:6-7 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
Who delivered it to him ? Adam. What kind of authority ? "Deity"
2 Corinthians 4:4 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Christ has paid the price for mans restoration. And secondly a chritian has received Gods nature of "divinity" . So a Christian being a god is simply an expression of God the father through him. He is not trying to arrogate to himself what is not his. The word of God is God . If his word comes in you it makes you a god.
John 10:35 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
We as Christian are born of the same word of God. "As he is , so are we" same nature. The Essence of Christian growth is to get to the place we can manifest his fulness which is our destiny. And grow up INTO HIM.
Ephesians 4:15 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head,[ even] Christ:
Ephesians 4:13 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
I don't need to get into too much details here we have dealt with this on the thread on "faith"
But my question is " why is it easier to accept that Satan became god and yet hard to accept that God children whom he stole from are gods?
Exodus 7:1 1 And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
We just point to the vain hypocrisy of tithers who purport to tithe to fulfil 'all righteousness' yet they can barely keep the tithe Laws. It all points to the absurdity of Christian tithing. It is supposed to be based on Torah but it is the FURTHEST thing from Torah. It is a mish-mash of convenient verses that demands ignoring and mutilating Torah to support it.
We call it what it really it, a late tradition which is un-scriptural and unsupported by neither OT nor NT. How would a 400year late tradition find scriptural backing? Did Holy Spirit forget to teach these truths to all those generations of Christians?
Image123: i live by the Word of God, not by the happenings in Israel. BTW, antitithers are the ones that insist that Mosaic methods of tithing must be kept. No tither preaches or teaches that. Antithers want us to tithe to Israeli Levites in Jerusalem etc, we say that's not necessary. Get it now?
Thank you sir, I meant as a minister, what structure can possibly be put in place to bring more accountability?
PastorKun: The best we can do is to continue to point people to truth using social media and any other channel available to us. Hopefully we would get to a point were we have a critical mass of people walking the knowledge of truth and false self seeking teachers would be openly challenged. At this point self seeking preachers would think twice about it before dishing out their heretic doctrines.
PastorKun, Do you have a practical suggestion for leaders/ministers maintaining accountability?
PastorKun: Sadly most of our Nigerian Charismatic churches believe and actively promote the church to be focused on their pastor or "G.O". The most glaring tell tale sign is when churches put the image of their pastors on posters and bill boards. They are inadvertently pointing people to the pastor instead of Christ.
More Interesting comment. Can a there be a church without the pastor as the brand?

I don't think there is a way to have a pastor and not have him as a brand. The pastor is inevitably the brand, whether people want to admit it or not. The pastor will be up there preaching most of the time. The pastor will be up there leading the church vision and mission. All the ministries will adhere to that vision and mission. It doesn't matter how much you try to keep the face of the pastor out of public view, as the leader of the family, his mind, his personality, his experiences, and his knowledge will determine a lot of what that local church will end up being. Failure to make peace with this issue is to set yourself up for avoidable and unnecessary frustrations.

I respectfully disagree. Jesus is the brand. Consider the words of John the Baptist, "I must decrease so he can increase." John could have had his own brand - he had a good thing going and loyal disciples. He chose to promote Jesus though. The pastor must constantly point people to Jesus, shine the spotlight on the Savior and take it off of himself. That is the big failure we are reaping the whirlwind from today. 1 • Reply • Share › Avatar Juan Carlos Randy Alan Donahue • 16 days ago
sure. pastors are to point people to Jesus. my point is that the "how" pastors point to Jesus varies from pastot to pastor, from church to church. some use more humor, others are more serious. some like to "sound" more theological, others don't want to sound that theological, others simply do not want to sound theological at all. some scream more than others. some preach for 45 mins, others preach for 60 mins, others preach for 25. and so on.... pastors end up being a brand not because they want to be an actual brand but because they're the ones who are leading and their leadership will inevitably reflect their personalities, experiences, their dreams, etc. an african american pastor do not preach like an argentinian pastor. a 70 year old pastor won't do it like a 30 year old pastor. wether we wanna admit it or not, churches do have some kind of a "brand" in their pastor. • Reply • Share › Avatar CEO_Talkbridge Juan Carlos • 15 days ago
There is no way any pastor should be a church brand. We are all given the great commission, however, some will be called into the fivefold offices. This is not for showmanship but to edify the body of Christ and to perfect the saints. We will continue to get this wrong if we don't return to the biblical standard of leadership. Churches of today raise superstars and gods, not glorifying God. Mo wonder the presence of the Lord is not in 'His' temple any more. • Reply • Share ›
1. Every lead pastor needs both internal and external accountability. 2. Church elders need an apostolic overseer to appeal to in case of an impasse 3. Satellite churches need their own pastor/preacher. 4. The "one man brand" of the church leaves the church vulnerable. 5. The essence of the church needs to be based upon the centrality of Christ. 6. Every lead pastor needs an equally competent understudy who can step in. 7. The congregation has to be more committed to their corporate vision than to the lead pastor and/or to their social networks. http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/the-pulse/45880-7-significant-lessons-churches-can-learn-from-the-mars-hill-mark-driscoll-implosion
Matthew 9:5 (KJV) And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? 6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. 7 And he arose, and departed to his house
There is something to be had here. Jesus is saying that healing is far much easier than forgiveness of sins and since He had already forgiven the man's sins, He could easily heal him and He did to prove it. The point I bring out is it is really not difficult for Jesus to meet our material needs ( healing, wealth and all) and the fact that he forgives us should be proof.
But we never see the much easier material needs being overly emphasized. Instead, the focus is on the spiritual. The danger I see is Christians who equate the spiritual and material needs' ease of being met in Christ. The argument is, if I can pray and recieve forgiveness NOW,why can't I aks and get a car NOW yet a car is nothing compared to forgiveness of my sins before God?
mbaemeka: I agree with most if not all you have said above. What I was trying to say to my brother is that righteousness and salvation from sin or even having a sound mind isn't ONLY what we inherited from God through Christ's death. God's ability or desire to help his children get wealth and health has not ceased as a result, if anything it persists and has even increased. What will be extreme is for people to say that Christ does not give us wealth and so we have to get it on our own. Another extreme will be that we can ONLY get it through Christ. The truth remains that for anyone to be considered truly rich in God's eyes it will have to be by God's help and in service to God. It is the same with health, security, soundness of mind etc. Someone can say as long as I have my security guards in check I am safe- I don't need security from Christ (and in the physical he might appear safe)
Psalm 127 King James Version (KJV) 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
This verse for e.g does not say that the men won't build the house or that the watchmen won't watch it, just that they would do it in vain. In other words, at the end of the day, it would amount to nothing in God's eyes.
Excellent observation chysam, I had asked what was the point of hauling the farm produce to the temple if money was equally acceptable. Surely it would have saved Jews much trouble of transporting all that weight to the Levites cities and subsequently the 1% to the Temple. And recall this was done twice a year and another once every third year.
The pathetic levels some descend to prop a man made. Tradition that was introduced 400 years after Pentecost is shocking. Now you know why Obtuse does not come close to describing their minds
chysam: I think you need some help here because like so many others like you,you no absolutely nothing about the bible and must have based your arguments purely on what your pastor says. Contrary to your assertions,God had so much qualm about tithing with money.Infact he advised tithers who lived fart away from areas he he required tithers to bring their tithes to sell their agricultural produce, travel with the money and upon arrival to the place should convert the money back to agricultural produce before tithing.Furthermore,it is of no business to a follower of jesus if or not the people of the temple tithed. If any one truly believe in christ,he must concern himself only with those things that he taught his followers.A christian has no business with whatever ensued between Jesus and the Pharisees because the Pharisees were never christians and refused to become one even though they had a 110% opportunity to become one.A sincere christian in matters of tithing should ask himself this question,"Did Jesus teach me about tithing?".The answer is no."Did the apostles teach me about tithing?".The answer again is no.Then who taught me to be paying and receiving tithes?. Draw your answers and reasons from the Christian point of view.If any one foolishly argue that bible is one, both the OT and the NT,then he does not value the death of Christ.IF OT and NT were one,why were the non christians jews in conflict with the followers of christ?.The answer is very simple;because both religion disagree.Christ came with a new doctrine. For example, keeping the Sabbath was Gods law,but jesus broke it.In reality he did not break it,he was actually effecting changes which was clearly one of the reasons he came.Only those who beleived in him partook of those changes and tithing was one of them as is very clear in the scriptures. No Christian leader of jesus and the apostles era received that and every body knows this even todays pastors. So why must he receive tithes if his progenitors did not?. Is he better than them?. I challenege anybody here to tell me that early christians leaders received tithes. If they didn't,what other senseless prove is anybody still looking for?
Wow! May be that's why his members can't stop comparing him to the 'materialistic' 'jet flying' contemporaries. And they are so easy at it.
Luke 11:10 (ESV) Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’
Let me tell you something about Kumuyi. He is a perfect example of a modern day pharisee. He preaches a kind of holiness that is not rooted in Christ but in self. Self righteousness aka i better pass you is what drives him and his members.
Are you familiar with a "doing"gospel? That gospel that says do this and do that and you will make heaven? That's deeper life for you!
They never emphasis Christ! He is seen most of the time as an example that others should follow. Even though they sing all the ancient hymns that talk about the amazing, perfect and completed work of Christ, as shocking as it may seem to you, they don't believe it!
They abhor the true gospel cos it doesn't give them room to boast.
I have been there not as an observer but as a full member.
God through Christ Jesus opened my eyes to this truth!
I'd say to a great extent yes. I don't know the guy but reading those prophecies rang bells
There are three basic people magnets if you are a minister; 1. Miracles/Healing 2. Prosperity 4. Prophecy
Miracles because in a congregation of any number, it is statistically impossible to miss an ailing soul. Healthcare don't come cheap nowhere not to mention imperfect information means some ailments are incurable. You got easy marks if you broadcast healing.
Prosperity because everybody is hustling and hustling is hard. Anything to make making it easier is definitely a perfect bait. Worse among the poor.
Prophecy because man is by design curious. Information is power and power gives man a better handle at the uncertainties. Who would mind seeing their future clearly?
The Word of God is plain boring if you can't spice it with at least one of the above. I wonder how John the Baptist pulled crowds from speeches in the desert wearing skins
Bidam: Hilarious, am not a fan of this guy. I just quoted his prophecy from another thread and pasted it here. What is you definition of prophecy anyway, is it foretelling of events?
