PoliticsRe: Video: Cnn's Tony Harris Conversates With Nigerian About Blacklisting by VPersie: 2:45am On Jan 17, 2010
The guy kept on saying different things apart from answering the question-I guess he had an agenda to support NIgeria no matter what. I think Nigeria deserves to be on that list considering the radicalism brewing in the North. Until the Nigerian government shows convincing proof that it is willing and able to fight the burgeoning Islamic radicalism in northern Nigeria, then we have no reason to complain. That is why the "British" analogy does not work. Britain is actively fighting terrorism, not excusing or ignoring it. On the other hand, it is easier for Obama to do this to Nigeria, than say South Africa or Malaysia. The answer is simple: leverage. We are becoming more and more irrelevant in international circles.

FamilyIf I Sue Them, Will I Win? by VPersie(op): 2:14am On Jan 17, 2010
I grew up in a family where there really was no love. I sometimes wondered why my parents married. It was so obvious my Dad did not love my mum. And he made her go through hell. I really appreciate her tenacity through those trying years. The lack of love rubbed on us the children. From an early age, we did not really feel like we could be close to our parents. The tension in the marriage always resulted in our parents shouting at us, complaining about almost everything, and ultimately alienating us. TO make matters worse, I went to a boarding house where I found it hard to fit in and in those formative years, constant picking on by seniors and constant ridicule by my mates, shattered my self confidence, and made me not willing to expose myself to people because of fear of ridicule and alienation-this was usually masked as shyness. Because of this shyness, I can't have relationships with members of the opposite sex and almost all of my other relationships suffer. I wonder how I can even find a wife. I have come to realize that what I went through under my parents and in my secondary school was EMOTIONAL ABUSE. Now that I realize it, I am trying to rebuild myself so I can be a functioning member of the society, something I have never been. But I still feel a need to let those who put me in this situation realize their wrong. I want to sue my parents and my school. Do I have a chance of winning? This is not about money, it is about starting a new life and erasing a wrong I suffered. My parents are wonderful people, but I can't just let things slide like that. I have not added much details of what I suffered because I do not want to turn this into an epistle. But I really suffered emotionally and now I am emotionally dysfunctional.
RomanceShe Is Giving Me Heart Attack by VPersie(op): 2:01am On Jan 17, 2010
There is this girl I used to do stuff with, but now I want to stop. I also told her I want to stop. She just called me and said she just left the pool and my heart started jumping up and down and my started to shake. Anytime I decide to stop stuff with her, I always experience this palpitations in my heart that make me think I may have an heart attack, so I usually give in. It has started again but I really want this to stop. Is this a medical/psychological problem? How do I get out of this?

I appreciate all the advice. Its just like on her list of friends I am like number 100 and on my list of friends, she is like number 10. That is the cause of the tension. More input will be appreciated before I make a decision.

RomanceDoes She Think I Am Her Maga? by VPersie(op): 9:50pm On Jan 12, 2010
Hello All. There is this girl I met over a year ago. Actually she came to me when I first arrived here and attempted to be friendly. But I was not really not into the whole friendship thing so I was quiet with her and other people that tried to be friendly with me. Later we became closer as I always asked her questions about personal things like sex, family etc. Some months later I was already telling her that her liked her- although I added, as I have done with every girl I have told "I like You," that I did not want to date her. By this time she already had a boyfriend and I was sure I did not want a girlfriend. Since then we have become good friends (or at least, that’s what I think), but the problem is I seem to be the one carrying the friendship alone. On her last birthday, I gave her a pair of shoes and a book, and on my birthday, she gave me a saucer full of brownies. I am always the one that approaches her for discussion or anything like that. I guess that is because we really do not have too much in common. For almost a month now, she has not called me and I refused to call her because I do not want to continue the trend of being the one to show her attention. Very soon it will be her birthday, and I am wondering whether or not to get her a gift. I initially planned to get her a nice dress and a cake but then I think she is an emotional liability as a friend. It is almost like she is taking me to be her maga. In think I am being unrealistic and unfair to her. “If I like her more than she likes me, it is not her fault,” I sometimes tell myself. What should I do?
