blowjohn: Hmm. I dont trust the man still. All of them rich bastards, them Rockefeller and co. Vaccines r more dangerous than drugs in the long run. Once a vaccine gets in, that's the end. With drugs some may still die, but at least u have more control over the patient
Besides the Pfizer controversy which has been settled, i don't see any reason for demonizing vaccines. I don't even know what you people think they want to achieve with their vaccines.
Right now they're developing vaccines to help their own people, not embed chips in Africans. You think 67,000 dead Americans, 27,000 dead Italians, 24,000 dead british are not compelling reasons for these people to develop vaccines for their own people? Did anyone of them talk about developing vaccines for Africans?
We'll only get whatever treatment they come up with AFTER they'd already taken care of their people. And you have the choice to accept or reject the vaccine and hope your faith keeps you safe.
Meanwhile it's vaccines that helps billions of children against polio and measles.
Some stupid Nigerians deserve to die from Covid-19 for the stupid and irrational belief that both the coronavirus and its intended vaccines are a conspiracy against god.
Nonsense.
As if they can't see that the supposed evil countries are the ones suffering more than anyone.
And by the time people start dying in droves here, would they flock to church and start their useless prayers, or would they be begging for vaccines?
Kennitrust: Nigeria doesn't have a reliable journalism
News in this part of the world is really confusing.
You read the way the news is composed and you relax your mind with the BELIEVES that the news is from a reliable source only for another blogger to come up with another claim.
Modified:
Nigeria is a very serious confusion.
The writer sounds like a paid hack.
At the very end, without quoting anyone, he even said "the bank's esteemed investors". How does he know, and what do we care, about the investors and whether they're esteemed or not? Objective writers don't write like that
blowjohn: The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has purchased shares in nine big pharmaceutical companies valued at nearly $205 million -- an investment likely to attract attention more for its symbolism than its size.
The foundation, the nation's largest with an endowment of $24.2 billion from Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates and his wife, already is a major force in international health issues, contributing $555 million in 2000 alone to global health programs. The organization has emerged as a prominent voice in the debate over how to supply cheaper drugs for AIDS and other diseases to poor countries. At times, it has assumed the role of a broker between poor nations and drug companies.
Now, as an investor in Merck & Co., Pfizer Inc., Johnson & Johnson and others, the Gates foundation has a financial interest in common with makers of AIDS drugs, diagnostic tools, vaccines and other drugs. The stock purchases are a new type of investment for the foundation: In the past it held primarily bonds and other nonequity investments.
Nigeria's largest state has sued US drug firm Pfizer for allegedly using 200 children as "guinea pigs" for a drug test in 1996 that led to multiple deaths and deformities, officials said Sunday...The state accuses Pfizer of "secretly using children as guinea pigs to test a drug under the guise of humanitarian gesture"...Pfizer was alleged to have administered an untested drug called Trovan Floxacin without authorisation on almost 200 children infected with meningitis in the state. Eleven of the children reportedly died, while the remaining 181 were said to have suffered from deafness, paralysis, brain damage and blindness.
First of all you omitted, deliberately, the following paragraph:
"Joe Cerrell, a spokesman for the Seattle-based Gates foundation, says the stock investments, reported this week in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, are independent of the foundation's programs. "
Second, the Pfizer trials were in 1996; the Gates Foundation made its investments in 2002. There's absolutely no link between the vaccine trials and the Gates Foundation.
Third, re-read the second paragraph that you copied and pasted:
Chairman Bill Gates and his wife, already is a major force in international health issues, contributing $555 million in 2000 alone to global health programs. The organization has emerged as a prominent voice in the debate over how to supply cheaper drugs for AIDS and other diseases to poor countries. At times, it has assumed the role of a broker between poor nations and drug companies.
The above shows the roles they play in making healthcare MORE AFFORDABLE to the poor. Not MORE EXPENSIVE but MORE AFFORDABLE.
You think anyone in Africa can afford the early HIV drug cocktails without these people's help?
He gave out free antimosquito nets, he helped eradicate polio, he made Malaria drugs affordable. How's that anything but goodwill?
Bevista: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is deceptively cloaked in a mantle of selfless philanthropy. But the reality is that they have used their resources to deviously embed themselves into nearly every aspect of global public health.
A global pandemic is the perfect opportunity for all those investments to pay off - both in terms of financial profit as well global CONTROL.
First of all he's stupidly rich. There's no amount of money that'll make a difference to what he already can buy. Once you're the richest man in the world, or among the top 3, any additional billion is superfluous.
Second, if he wanted power he'd bid to become president of the US and have almost the entire world at his fingertips.
He won't get world supremacy by helping the very poor and downtrodden.
This man is helping humanity without asking for anything in return. He's doing the job that your leaders won't do, and your parents can't do.
Today polio and Malaria and HIV are less of threats to mankind largely because of the Gates.
Be grateful, and stop demonizing the few good people left on earth.
DeraNwamazi: I was going to say something but seeing the comments you guys have made, it's obvious you guys still have a very long way to go. If you think a white man is going to do anything that a black man will benefit from without causing greater damage to him, then you need to start taking your history lessons seriously.
Stop dwelling in the past and move on. As painful as parts of history are, without the pain of yesterday there wouldn't be the gain of today. Radical changes usually come with some pain.
You're educated now and have the privilege of using your phone to make your silly comments because of the white man, else you'll be in a cave somewhere living out a primitive life.
Coborona: Seems everyone is now developing a drug The main question is; how effective are these drugs in the management of covid-19? Because Covid-19 is still killing people in large numbers
Come to think of it, this Gates of a man has spoken too much on this covid-19 matter, and he's never a medical personnel; so, how comes he knows more of this pandemic if he is not a suspect?
Because all you need to know about the pandemic is public knowledge.
You people are giving the rest of humanity a bad name.
IlovePMB: If they like make dem no call back Sanusi until they all die. The point there is if Sanusi was still the Emir and was respected by Ganduje and all Kano citizens, the situation in Kano would not be like this. Sanusi is well educated and knows much about modern happenings. He would have given strict laws to the Kano citizens to stop public gatherings, stop all movements to Kano and take the Covid 19 serious. He would have been in the better position of educating them on the seriousness of the pandemic. But now Kano have only illiterates leading them. Some of them still dont believe in Covid 19.
There is nothing else killing the Kano people apart from coronavirus. If you still doubt this then wait for just one month. You all would be convinced. Kano would take over Lagos as the hot bed of Covid 19 by next month. Save this post. People would die like chickens in the north in the next few months.
Just because they wear traditional regalia doesn't make them idiots, and you're unfortunately buying into the uniquely southern trope that all northerners are illiterates. Some of these people have PhDs.
Also Sanusi or any emir for that matter does not have the influence of the kings of old. Nor do the Ezes and Obis and Mazis and Obas. That era is long gone, ever since kings became subordinates and pawns 0f politicians.
The fact is no one in nigeria takes coronavirus serious, even a cursory glance here on nairaland among the supposedly educated bunch will convince you. From the tired 5G conspiracy theory to some imaginary Madagascar herb to people on mountains praying for some cosmic intervention, to people gathering and traveling anyhow without any thoughts about social and physical distancing or sanitization, and you'll see no one is serious.
alizma: She should remain there until that her stupidity wash off her brain. I listened to her previous audio and I must commend the health minister, NCDC, and Benue state government for the attention they gave her. A test was carried out which shows she was positive but she referred to the test as kangaroo test, the banue state government took her all the way from the state capotal to Abuja in an ambulance with a team of health workers. the minister gave her one on one audience despite his tight schedule and when she demanded for a copy of the test, it was made available to her, yet she didn't want to listen, all she wants is to be freed into the society. Two different doctors approached her for treatment, she turned them down claiming she doesn't have any symptom of COVID-19. Now she is talking about being abandoned and not given treatment. If she feels because she returned from outside the country that everyone should dance to her tune, she is joking. She is just an old attention seeking woman. Why calling on idoma people, are they doctors? She should be calling on WHO to conduct a test on her rather than disturbing the peace of her people in the village
Nigerians are selfish
Everyday we read about people moving about sharing the infection, some go into hiding, others run from isolation centers
This is the time for people to stop thinking about just themselves and think about others. All over the world people voluntarily go into isolation for as long as it takes, but some Nigerians just want to go on in willful ignorance and thus spread the disease
It's not government's failure that's causing the spread, it's selfish people with no regard for others.
Zchi1052: restructuring exercise for this kind harsh weather Make some people de fear God nah Of all other times u no restructure na now The rich have no conscious
Fellas, see why you shouldn't take the "vanity upon vanity " line too serious?
If he's aged and has underlying health issues his money will likely not save him. There's still no cure for covid19. The most they can do is place him on a ventilator and hope for the best.
TruthSpeaker: Hahaha, mountain bah? Nor be the same man claim sey by the 26th of March the disease was going to be washed away? He just made a big fool of himself. It was too obvious that he prophecy was ever going to come to pass. Nah Sambisa forest him for go do the prayer and fasting sessions sef.
Lols actually he said march 27th, you're a day off.
Every miracle worker and divine healer is hiding in their houses afraid of the virus.
They're waiting for scientists to create the cure so they can go back to their healings and miracles again
