Career / Re: Professional Accountants, Let's Meet Here by wakagirl: 5:58pm On Sep 03, 2012
TEXZLEM: Foremost... Accounting and Mathematics are two difference concept because the former revolve around the principle of double entry . And in answer to your question! With your weak backgound in Math... You can still do account, however, you will only have problem when you are not at ease with figures because being an accountant you work with figures based on the concept of every corresponding debit have a corresponding credit.

By and large... Having identified math as your weakness... You can actually work on it because as an accountant you will be require to make somes financial decision which involve some element of finance!

Ufeolorun:
You can do it if you have the passion though a good maths background will help you in some areas like performance management and/or financial management but Accountancy has moved greatly from traditional book keeping/management accounting jargon to financial reporting(knowing Gaap/Igaap and and interpretation
in fact I usually tell people that there's now a fine line between Accountancy and Law( am not looking at taxation alone).Interpretation of financial reports have taken central role hence comparing accountancy to law makes more sense.

Thanks, the passion and will is there but afraid of mathematical aspect of it and wondering if that will be an issue like an English student being weak in Literature doesnt make sense but not sure if both can be compared

Career / Accountants/accounting Students Please Help! by wakagirl: 3:18pm On Aug 21, 2012
A matured student planning to study for a degree on part time basis is trying to choose between business studies and accounting. She would prefer accounting but she is poor in mathematics has never passed and hates it with passion.

Please can you advise if poor maths background will affect her performance in Accounting? (someone said acc is not about math but arithmetic and assured she would be fine but math/arithmetic are same to her)

Thanks and thanks in anticipation of your response.
Religion / Will Last Minute Sin Take One To Hell? by wakagirl: 5:45pm On Jun 14, 2012

Cant still get over the Dana crash. I regret looking at pictures of some of the victims because as much as I tried I just cant get the faces off my head. Well, it has happened too bad we could not help it! May such never happen again.

I was just thinking of the victims’ last moment and I can imagine all sorts of lamentation, fear, prayers etc

I am sure there would be spirit filled born again Christians (apology to other religions just talking about mine). These xtians who when faced with calamity lower than such that happened would calmly have preached that we thank God in all situations and accept His wish would probably have at that very minute of staring death in the eyes said things like ‘God where are you’ ‘Ori mi o, eleda mi o’ ‘Mogbe o egbami o, ‘God if you truly exist please take control of this plane and land us safely’ etc some probably would have said worst like ‘are you sure you are up there looking at this?’ ‘if you are true to your word….please arise now’ etc….

Will some foolish words some of them would have said lead them to hell even though they were born again and faithful to God prior to this?

Some would probably have heard at one time or the other that all that is needed to be saved is to confess Christ as lord and accept Him, now will some people who were at that point unbelievers but quickly accept Him at that last minute make it to heaven for saying those words?

I am a Christian myself I probably should know answers to these but just wishing to learn more from other Christians because anyone could find him/herself face to face with death sometime.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE AND PLEASE those of other religion can open similar thread and discuss this. With due respect I want only Christians to contribute here and I don’t mean to insult anyone I just don’t want this to degenerate to religious war as in some cases. I have Ruth, Michael, Deborah as well as Fatima, Sikiru, Habeeb etc as cousins, uncles, aunties so I respect everyone’s belief. Thank you.

Career / When Is It Too Late To Get A Degree? by wakagirl: 7:19pm On May 28, 2012
My elder sister is getting quite upset and frustrated with herself for her inability to further her education back then. She is unfortunately 38 years at the moment, she has a stable job though not quite rewarding financially but it keeps body and soul together. She lives abroad (Scotland) and is not doing really bad just that recently she started feeling bad about not holding a degree cert. It was not her fault there just wasn’t support when she was supposed to further her education.

For some reasons she is feeling so bitter about it now and is getting very upset. She is to me lucky to still have a job and a stable one but she thinks if she holds a degree cert she can do a better job and earn more as her current job does not require any special skill and anyone can do it. At the same time she is worried about being able to cope and come out in flying colours as age is not on her side and she also has other commitment like kids to look after.

At 38 what advise will you give her, is it too late to pursue a degree and if not will she be able to cope and come out well and even at that will this degree be that relevant and useful at the end of the day with her age?

Will appreciate any advice.

We saw something like this coming and advised but mrs believes her husband wont even comit lookery.
We reliable gathered that he staged the arrest because he needed money for the naming and care for the wonderful kids.

We are hoping she wont come back home because she is some kind of a wonderful wife that wants to keep her marriage. Fingers crossed. She is too devastated now but we are trying to keep her in good form.

What a horrible friend you are, your friend's life falling apart is a funny story to you??!!! angry angry

Sorry i made it look or feel that way. I am sorry but believe me we are trying our best in our own way. Just that when you warn some women of impending danger and they tell you to shut the hell up because their husbands are saints and a thing like this happen, well.

I am satisfied i tried my best, when some of us saw the handwritting on the wall, i personally called and spoke to her several times and her responses wont even let her want to let me know of this development.
Again, i am sorry it came accross to you that way and i can assure you this is one way of me dealing with it but we are trying our best in our way.
Thanks

A friend had relocated to UK with the 3 kids trying to get the husband as well in but it has been difficult. The man is not doing very well in Nigeria so so much efforts being put in by the lady to get him in. She lives illegally with the kids but somehow a friend was able to (not sure how they did that) get her kids into the system and she is getting the monthly child payment for them.

Few weeks ago the husband called and told her he has been arrested and currently at the police station (he gave her the reason he was arrested but i dont have details). He told the wife if he doesnt produce 500,000 he will remain in the cell forever. The lady sent someone to the police station to confirm and the husband was trully there with trouser turned the opposite side and no belt and looked like he has been beaten and battered.

To cut it short our friend sent 2,000 pound from the little menial jobs she is doing here and there and the husband was 'released'

Now another friend of ours was too shocked to discover that the man actually was naming the birth of a set of triplet by another woman in Nigeria few days after the supposed 'release' lavishing money and quite excited.

She could not stomach it she took pictures and video and our friend has now been informed. She is devastated, thinking of either to return home, stay put and forget about him or do whatever she is confused not sure what exactly to do. She is in a terrible state of mind now and regretting ever making the move to move abroad leaving her husband behind.

Dont need advise for her just sharing a real but funny story. I hope she doesnt get to read this - her life story on the internet

Mogidi:

Am sorry 90% of Nigerians are incapable of the above, its easier for a Nigerian to blame someone else e.g the govt, other tribes etc.

Are you for real? So spending 365/366 days makes you patriotic? I think you're out of your depth here try the "romance section". Hehehe!!!

remove whatever you have blocking your sight and reread it
did i say poster is not?
so all those mentioned as being patriotic like Awolowo, Ojuku, Gani and co spend few months of the year in 9ja and enjoy the rest in oyinbo country only staying in 9ja btw Sept and Dec when understandably its a wise thing to do because of bad weather during that period. i beg

I'm coming over in september. I spend the last three months of every year in Nigeria and I have been doing that for 4years now. The time is now, enough of all these clueless and thieving bastards - we must take a stand!

me thinks being this patriotic is not spending 9 months out of 9ja but 365/366 days
i love your passion and will be looking forward to you starting

Politics / About Ghadafi And Libya by wakagirl: 5:14pm On Oct 20, 2011
Can someone confirm the below please?

If the below is true then is being in power for 42 years the only problem in that country? Are there other problems?

Col, Gadhafi and Libya
1.There was no electricity bill in Libya; electricity was free for all its citizens
2. There was no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law
3. Home considered a human right in Libya –Gaddafi vowed that his parents would not get a house until everyone in Libya had a home. Gaddafi’s father has died while him, his wife and his mother are still living in a tent
4. All newly weds in Libya receive $60,000 Dinar (US$50,000) by the government to buy their first apartment so to help start up the family
5. Education and medical treatments are free in Libya. Before Gaddafi only 25% of Libyans are literate. Today the figure is 83%
6. Should Libyans want to take up farming career, they would receive farming land, a farming house, equipments, seeds and livestock to kick-start their farms –all for free
7. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in Libya, the government funds them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US$2,300/mth accommodation and car allowance
8. In Libyan, if a Libyan buys a car, the government subsidized 50% of the price
9. The price of petrol in Libya is $0.14 (N22) per litre
10. Libya has no external debt and its reserves amount to $150 billion – now frozen globally
11. If a Libyan is unable to get employment after graduation the state would pay the average salary of the profession as if he or she is employed until employment is found.
12. A portion of Libyan oil sale is, credited directly to the bank accounts of all Libyan citizens
13. A mother who gave birth to a child receive US$5,000
14. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project, known as the Great Man-Made River project, to make water readily available throughout the desert country
So What's the Problem with Libyans? The long rule? Wetin?! Abeg, he needs to rule Nigeria for 500yrs! Pls we need Gaddafi o !

YOu'll have yours my dear

no i didnt waste my time i achieved what i wanted from him and i was never going to marry him so never expected him to divorce, just that unfortunately he could not offer what i wanted from like without the affairs and once it was over it was a pleasant goodbye, i am not going to get my own because i have already infact a very lovely man. such is life my sis

if she is still in love with you congrats you can work things out, ask her not if she loves you but if she is in love with you, if she cant answer that question or relunctantly sorry nothing will work. Once a woman is out of love nothing can work however hard you try. good luck

Nayah:

dear ronkebp, as a woman of course NOT, I can't push my fiance or husband in others woman's hands but let's get realistic my dear: Infidelity exists and many of our sisters are victims of this phenomenon, (guys also of course) and it seems to be a growing trend so my sister I would prefer he has a GF outside than someone else sharing my bed, with my husband, can you see the difference? Building a home, "territory" with your family's interests with another person and officially I'd SAY NO

Do you know the difference between a mistress ( who can be loved also) and a wife?
The one could share the bed while the other share his life

people like you will live long and enjoy good health. I was going out with a married man back then in school, when i was through with him i moved on, i needed him then for a reason he needed me for a reason when we both have satisfied our needs i was out of his life he is still with his wife till tomorrow and the old woman kept looking like a fine girl because there is no second wife. i am not proud of what i did but i owe no one any explanation and if same happen to me so be it once i still have my husband im fine. That they wont cheat? say that to the birds

Just two meaning the more the better even when you cant care for them? nonsense talk
