House, someone asked me this question and i need you people in the house to assist me and put the person through because i told her my own opinion and she want more opinion....

"Please what's the best way to create home ties with this situation''..

My uncle is my sponsor, and he owns the company that would be sponsoring my Master's programme, I would like to work with his firm upon the completion of my Degree Programme though I currently work in another company , and they are ready to grant me study leave, stating I would be the head of a unit in the company upon the completion of my Program as well ....

I don't know if I should tell the V.O that I would be working with my Uncle(sponsor) or the firm I currently work with after leaving the United States... Please which creates better home ties?

honeyad: I've been a little bit busy, I believe God did it Cos the guy beside me told me he was denied by him last time

Me: good morning sir

V.o: good morning( he smiled a bit)

Me: how was your night

V.o: fine nd yours

Me: good

V.o: you going to the United States to study

Me: yes

V.o: communication right ?

Me: yes

V.o: what are the courses you took to be a communication student?

Mesadsurprised) I said pardon? Cos i didnt expect that kind of questions He repeated nd I said commerce, accounting, English, maths

V.o: cuts in, how did you get your admission..what did you send

Me:transcripts, immunization card,

V.o: cuts in, okay how did you know about the school

Me: I saw an article written by one of the professors in my department(jonzing)

V.o: quickly cuts in before I finish downloading.. Where did you see the article

Me: me wey no see article.. i jus quickly compose my sef, my heart dey beat fast..American online publisher(jonzing)

V.0: why the school?

Me: the school dedicates itself towards academic vitality which has ranked them top 100 school in the southern region

V.o: cuts in.. How did you know the school is good enough for you(didn't remember how he used the English but something like that)

Me: the school has a southeastern channel which has won over 4 Telly awards In the southern region, they have a lion's roar news paper which is been handled by the student of my department, I didn't remember the name of the radio station due to tension so I formed one( Southern radio) the school has a southern radio which also been handled by the students of my department.. I would have time to be versatile across different aspect of communication ranging from journalism to tv production, to radio production etc

V.o: cuts in, so you want to be a journalist?

Me: no, I wish to work with a telecommunication company because i have a little experience

V.o: when did you finish your high school

Me: 2006

V.o: what have u been doing since then

Me: 2007 I started my national diploma till 2009 where I studied mass communication, 2010 I did a 1 year internship at radio Lagos, 2011 I traveled out of the country for a 2 year associate degree in north Cyprus..

V.o: cuts in.. Who's paying?

Me: my dad

V.0: what does he do

Me: he owns an advertising nd pr firm, he's the CEO of xxxx limited

V.o: okay, your visa has been granted, pick up your visa at this address, circled it nd gave me back my i20 nd sevis fee payment

Me: okay sir, thank you nd do have a nice day na that time I open teeth small since morning o

Vshocked: have a nice day too

No document was asked, unexpected questions... I just thank God, I was denied by the guy beside him June ending, the same guy was busy denying today, he did not approve anybody till I left nd the guy beside him on the left was busy doing Independence Day for people by approving anyhow.. The same question he asked me, he used in destabilizing me, he asked one lady today, I just laff for my mind, this one no go get visa, immediately he asked the girl got distabilized! Pls nd pls if you did not write SAT or gre! Nd you got interviewed by the bald guy, if he asks you how many school gave you admission? After you must have told him, he would bring out a school that he's sure they use SAT, how did you get admission without SAT nd that's the end.. So if you are in that position, just tell him lower schools than your school or tell him the school only uses sat for scholarship purpose ! It's not a compulsory document! With that you have killed him.. God that has done mine would not leave those going to get theirs soon too! Above all pray nd fast if possi le because my courage was not 100%.. It was just God!
Congrat bro and enjoy your stay in Obamaland

domex007: I don't understand.. Can you please explain..
If your school resume in August and you pick August date for your interview, All you have to do is to contact the embassy and request for emergency request and you will be giving a date in July for you to pick for your new interview..

Check one of slimmy post, i think he explained it better there
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by Walspring: 10:02pm On Jul 06, 2014
domex007: You mean one can still find a date in July?
But someone can pick date in August and then request for emergency request and the person giving date July

slimmy05: You can't get a date for this month as its filled already. Try and pay your visa fee and fill your ds160, book the nearest available date and apply for emergency appointment. You should get a favourable date.

Has anyone used these peeps? Sevis payment.com. Saw their advert here on Nairaland, but they charge high. $80 extra.

Anyone with info please? Help a sister.
Eeyah... sorry about that and dont use them cos people use seme border but if you stay in lagos, i can guide you through and make payment via seme border and your receipt will reflect with 2/3 days...

zynnnie: Hello everyone

A friend of mine write gre a week ago and his result is yet online his interview is on monday, Should he reschedule or gi ahead with the interview.
I dont think rescheduling can work now cos if you dont cancel your appointment 3 days before the appointment date it wont be able to cancel at all.

Let your friend go with faith if the appointment date is Monday and tell the VO that result is yet out and show the VO his registration details as proof...

But if i may ask didnt your friend calculate the date for GRE to be out before (s)he schedule the appointment?

Anyway that's what i can suggest ooo

domex007: Congrats Olumide, enjoy your stay in the US.

Tnks all for all your inputs,
Turned out that the error was from my bank GT bank, I am just coming out of the bank where I went to para for them (customer care) they assured me that I can mail my school and ask them to charge the card again but unfortunately schools don't open in the US today, looks like today is a public holiday in the US or something, but I have mailed my school telling that to charge the card again.
I am so confused, I don't know if I can still meet up with school resumption date which is aug 19..
I have not received my i-20 yet by this time..
Advice please
Eeyah.. Sorry about this but remember every delay ends up to be a blessing..

If its courrier you will get it upper week and i think you should be able to meet up and i hope your interview is towards July ending..?

olumide14: Hello House, I'd like to share my interview transcript and experience with y'all because this forum was the best and only preparation I got. May God bless you guys real good. My appointment was for 7am, got there 6:30ish and there was already an almighty crowd outside.

ADVICE
Warning inserted: please don't forget your DS-160, a girl 2/3 places ahead of me did, mehn...I felt for her. I think she sorted it out eventually because I saw her inside the interview hall. You shouldn't choose the day of your interview to give your heart unnecessary trouble by forgetting any *important* document because thinking of the interview alone is enough stress for your nerves. I'll skip some details (security check, biometrics, etc) and go straight to the interview. Hint: Be alert! Especially when you're in the interview hall. The moment you see your number flash at a counter go straight to that counter... Don't get carried away. You're not there to stare at people's shoes or dilly-dally. Don't let them start looking for you biko.

INTERVIEW

ME: Hello, good morning.
VO: Hello. So you're going to the US for your doctorate. That's about 4 or 5 years right? (Looks at me and then back at his computer)
ME: Yes (That's what my I-20 says)
VO: Why did you choose this school?
ME: I chose Texas Tech because of the availability of expertise in the areas of research I'm interested in working on.
VO: Exper...what? (Starts typing furiously!)
ME: Expertise
VO: What does it mean?
ME: Can't remember exactly what I said but it went along the lines of "It means there are seasoned faculty members in my department..."
VO: Oh...I'm not familiar with that word. I thought you said 'expatriate'.
ME: Oh ok
VO: So how did you get admitted into this school? What procedure did you follow?
ME: First, I completed an online application on the 'Apply Texas' website, then I sent in my documents - by documents I mean transcripts. Lastly, I wrote standardized tests and had my scores sent to the school.
VO: What tests did you write?
ME: GRE and TOEFL
VO: Cuts me short. Can I see your test scores?
ME: Just a moment please (passed the docs to him)
VO: Okay. Looks at them and types something into his computer
VO: Are you working?
ME: No I'm not. I recently completed my Master's and because I plan to further my education, I've been busy preparing for the standardized tests that I was required to write.
VO: Nods and types again
VO: So you have a Master's degree, where did you study?
ME: United Kingdom
VO: What school?
ME: Univ of .... (privacy reasons)
VO: What course?
ME: Economics
VO: When did you return to Nigeria?
ME: January 2013
VO: Who is your sponsor?
ME: My Dad
VO: Do you have his statement with you?
ME: Yes
VO: Let me take a look at it.
ME: Sure, let me get that out for you (I had all my stuff in my clear bag)
VO: Looks at it and nods. Later on says something about something on the statement. (I didn't hear him and I had no idea what he could have seen on that statement...my brain started working sharp sharp).
ME: Sorry I didn't get that, could you say that again?
VO: Oh...there's something about closure proceeds on the statement that I can't figure out, do you know where it's from? (He holds it up to the window and points it out to me)
ME: It's a savings account and that's the interest that was accrued from the money being in fixed deposit.
VO: Okay, that clears it up (returns the statement to me). What does you dad do?
ME: He's a lecturer
VO: Where?
ME: Told him. Sorry guys, can't say that openly here
VO: What does he lecture? (He has been typing endlessly all this while)
ME: Told him. Ditto the reasons above.
VO: Types for some secs then gets a white paper. Looks at me and says "pick it up next week at Isolo" and points to the address before passing the paper to me.
ME: I smile and say thank you. Put my things back into my clear bag and waka comot

Lol...mehn, I'm exhausted from typing this transcript! Apparently my interview was quite lengthy. Most of the time, the VO's cut you short so keep your answers short and straight to the point. Meanwhile, while I was seated (hope I spelt it correctly, make I no gbagaun o) and awaiting my turn, one VO was seriously tackling one guy. So be ready for any question and please be honest. If you're honest, you won't fear being caught in a lie. Now, I understand circumstances are different, if for any reason you can't come out and say the truth ask God for wisdom...lol

This is my first time posting here. I figured that since I'd learnt from the experience of others it would be unfair not to share mine and help prepare those getting ready for their interviews. It's my prayer that yours will also be a success story IJN (Amen). So march on in God's confidence. Above all, it has been GOD. Before I went for my interview, I told God that YOU who started it will be the ONE to complete it. He will do the same for you.
Congrats and enjoy your stay in Obamaland..

At bolded i love that statement

The i-20 is ready and I have sent my credit card authorisation countless times, but they keep replying that the card keeps declining their request,
Its the same card I used in paying for my first i-20 , I really don't know why its declining, I have also informed my bank about the transfer..
Please, I need advice and assistance as time is really running out. School resumes on 19th august.
Which bank ? maybe your bank does not authorize payment from your school POS anymore
