HealthRe: 20 Interesting Things About Water Birth by Watermelon(m): 3:38pm On Aug 03, 2013
Crying, at birth is a sign of a healthy baby and if the brain of the newborn lacks oxygen, that baby cannot cry and that may be a danger sign. I am sure you seen midwives slapping hell out of the baby's back just to make the little one cry.
HealthRe: 20 Interesting Things About Water Birth by Watermelon(m): 3:27pm On Aug 03, 2013
[quote author=Abiyamọ]I want to believe that the British Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, RCOG, have a better understanding of foetal physiology than anyone on this page. They've given it their stamp of approval. As for the points you've raised, very brilliant points but I will suggest you carefully watch a video of a water birth to see how and when the placenta is cut. [/quote
You should talk about a neonatologist or paediatrician when the baby is born or about to be birthed and the obstetrician does not have any bussness with baby immediately it is outside the womb and at that time, it is no longer a fetus but a neonate, newborn or a baby. I have explained in my previous post that while in the womb, the fetus depends solely on the placenta for oxygen and as the placenta detaches d from the mothers womb, the nostrils or rather the baby's respiratory system which had been inactive in the womb takes over. Mind you, the nostrils and the lungs can only take over outside the womb and if the placental detachment takes place long before delivery or delivery was not expedited immediately following the detachment, that fetus will be a stillborn.
Underwater paturition is not a nascent technique, it had been in existence for decades and the American Paediatrics Association has not endorsed it for the baby even though it cool for the mother.
Pardon my typos from my Nokia 1101 and sleepy eyes, it midnight where I am. grin
HealthRe: 20 Interesting Things About Water Birth by Watermelon(m): 10:53am On Aug 03, 2013
My concern is about the baby because the first breath of a baby in the first minute of life is highly essential for the survival and well being of that baby. A fetus delivered under water may be more prone to birth asphyxia. Sure in the womb, the baby is submerged in water, that is the amniotic fluid and does not breath with the nostrils while in that environment but gets oxygen and other nutrients through the placent. At birth and in some cases, immediately before the baby is born, this process is compromised as the p;acenta detaches form the maternal uterus and the newborn has to depend on the other route of obtaining oxygen which is the nostrils. Further compromising this route by immersing the baby in water might have dire consequences for the baby. If you have been in a labour room your will notice that the newborn may be turned upside down upon delivery or some medical tools placed in the nostrils all to clear to make breathing feasible for the baby. It may be ok for the mother but I will not prescribe this mode of delivery for any women. I am glad more research is being done in this field

I wonder where the mod of the thread went to, people are on nairaland to help as well as learn from others, but here we have two persons chatting in a strange language on a public forum and mods is doing nothing. Close this thread if it no longer serves its purpose educating people.

PoliticsRe: Nigerians In Benin Republic Raided And Dumped In A Camp (photos) by Watermelon(m): 10:57am On Aug 02, 2013
3ace: As bad as this country is, I can't consider relocating to Benin Republic. A country that shakes and begs when Nigeria closes border. What are my people looking for? It's obvious they are all hustlers with little earnings to show for it because if they are not, procuring their passports and IDs won't be a problem for them to finance. The Benin authorities have no blame at all. If dem no fit obtain those documeents. make dem dey come back home.
Benin repub is not that bad, I know many Nigerians who are making it big out over there, hair stylists, shop owners and many other bussinesses and the country has a more stable power supply than Nigeria

joe4christ: I dont believe this crap, i've been on this habit from my mother's womb, and yet my eardrums are intact.
Bad things happen to u when u believe in them..
It does not affect your ear drums, it affects the nerves and the process of nerve deafness from exposure to loud sounds or use of ear phones could take years or even decades. I dare many Nigerians to go for hearing test, you will be suprised that many have lost some decibels of hearing. At the initial stages with few decibels lost, it may not be noticeable.

CelebritiesRe: Funke Akindele Doesnt Need Kehinde Oloyede's House & Car by Watermelon(m): 3:20am On Aug 01, 2013
Amelian: From a view, Before Funke Akindele got married, almost everyone every guy classified her as ugly, with frog eyes which she is and was very aware of... But when she came up with this fiasco of a marriage to serial womanizer and married man? Who swayed her off her feet, like no other.... What shud anyone expect ?....shes a woman with blood flowing her veins, definitely she fell for the stvpid smooth talker.... sad A lot of people were shocked that Funke could actually get a man , who she claims loves her and ready to marry her... Trust me, lots of guys claiming she's ugly , then were so shocked she cud get hitched... Afterwards, guys started seeing her differently.....hmmm, ok she's cool, but why the hell did she even get married to a muslim married guy....heck huh....the process of the wedding , made her blossom and guys now acknowldege a different cute look in Funke ......men, men , men.. undecided.......so to fast forward, she fell for a married man , I bet she knows getting a single guy who will sincerely love her, it's like a Carmel passing thru the eye of a needle.
So she got married thinking hers will be different from women who got married to a polygamist...but unfortunately, if u can't fight to the teeth, spiritually or otherwise ,throughout a polygamous setting, and thru rest of one's remaining years in life, then one is not ready to live long with a married man......
Marrying a married man , is a continuous warfare between the new wife and other wives and concubines... There's never a good end to it... sad
I hope, Funke will just relax and make herself happy..don't be pressurized , no matter what....a word is enough for the wise.
You are just being unncessarily harsh, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and many men admire her but can't get close to marrying her because of her proffession. Not every man would love to see his wife/girlfriend/fiancee being caressed by another man in the name of acting out a script for a movvie. For comparison sake can you post a picture of yourself?. Funke is a beautiful lady and I think desperation pushed her to where she is today. Its not late, she can seek the face of God in this matter because HE is always there to help when we call upon Him.

CFCfan: A N1.3bn cargo shed will be built near the new international terminal.
That's great, the stress of travelling to Lagos or Abuja to board a flight and doing the same on arrival from foreign land is much, affects human body and traders' pockets. I foresee traffic at that airport soon and other airlines joining as well.
