You must be a marketer, or a zombie. Do you actually know the effect price increase will have on the cost of other commodities etc for a country where 2/3 of the people live on less than a dollar a day. The problem is dating we have vision less leaders. They go to other countries and see how things work. In Europe how many people use their cars?because they have a good transport system. I never for once used a cab while I was in Europe cos I always had to go by train. If our rail system was working we wouldn't, care if the petrol price was deregulated or not has it won, t have adverse effect on the economy. If u, really able to afford petrol u use ur car but if u, re not den u go by train simple. Building refineries or attracting fdi into the country is a long term solution. 4.we need to reduce our dependence on petrol by introducing a good transport system, making our rail transportation effective, building good mono rail transport system in cities. Of course they do read history. Palestine in the ancient world was part of the region known as Canaan and, later, the region where the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah were located. Palestine is a designation of an area of land, which the Philistines occupied a very small part of (the Canaanites/Phonecians and the Israelites, among others, having established themselves in the area much earlier). The name `Palestine’ is thought to derive from either the word “plesheth” (meaning `root palash’, an edible concocotion carried by migratory tribes which came to symbolize nomadic peoples) or as a Greek designation for the nomadic Philistines. The author Tom Robbins, and others, have suggested the name originates from the ancient androgynous god Pales who was widely worshipped in the region known as Palestine. If this is so then the name of the region means `Land of Pales’. That there was an androgynous god with the head of a donkey who was popularly recognized as Pales by the Canaanites, Israelites and Philistines is known but there exists no firm documentation from ancient times linking the god to the name of the region and, most likely, the name derives from the Greek for `the Land of the Philistines’. The Philistines (thought to be from Crete and, certainly, from the Aegean area) landed on the southern Mediterranean coast of the region known as Canaan in circa 1194 BCE after being repulsed in their invasion of Egypt (along with the Sea Peoples) by Rameses III. By 1185 BCE they had established themselves firmly in settlements along the coast known as Philistia. Other, older, settlements were already thriving in the area upon their arrival and the Philistines went quickly to work to subdue the area and benefit from the wealth there found. According to Biblical narratives, the Philistines were organized and efficient enough to cause the early Israelite tribes and cities a great deal of trouble. They were first defeated by the Israelite King David (c. 1000-960 BCE) but continued to thrive along the coast and harass their neighbors. DerideGull: The Philistines had no direct link whatsoever with Palestine except the geographical entity. After the Philistines came the Byzantines and finally Othman Empire. Palestine was a mere name the British Lord Belfour gave to territories seized from Othman Empire as the ally of defeated German in 1919 and mandated under British caretaker. The British Mandate of Palestine included Jordan and Israel. There was a place known as French Mandate of Syria which included Lebanon and Syria. There was British Mandate of Mesopotamian which became Iraq. |

My friend Jerusalem does not belong to Palestine. Be a student of history and stop coming here to display ur ignorance. Read history. EARLY HISTORY OF JERUSALEM Scholars believe the first human settlements in Jerusalem took place during the Early Bronze Age—somewhere around 3500 B.C. In 1000 B.C., King David conquered Jerusalem and made it the capital of the Jewish kingdom. His son, Solomon, built the first holy Temple about 40 years later. The Babylonians occupied Jerusalem in 586 B.C., destroyed the Temple, and sent the Jews into exile. About 50 years after that, the Persian King Cyrus allowed Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple. Alexander the Great took control of Jerusalem in 332 B.C. Over the next several hundred years, the city was conquered and ruled by different groups, including the Romans, Persians, Arabs, Fatimids, Seljuk Turks, Crusaders, Egyptians, Mamelukes and Islamists. Some key events with religious implications that took place in Jerusalem during this period include: In 37 B.C., King Herod restructured the second Temple and added retaining walls to it. Jesus was crucified in the city of Jerusalem around 30 A.D. The Romans destroyed the second Temple in 70 A.D. In 632 A.D., Muhammad, the Islamic prophet, died and was said to have ascended to heaven from Jerusalem. Many European Christians started pilgrimages to Jerusalem in the 1st century A.D. From about 1099 to 1187, Christian crusaders occupied Jerusalem and deemed the city a major religious site. motikorede: I hate it when people try to distort history .I dnt know why I always feel sick when people like you go visceral about things you know yourself is outrightly wrong. The wound between Palestine and Israeli is a complicated one , why should USA add salt to it. We all know Jerusalem belongs to Palestine ... Why should Israel arrogate it to themselves because they have the power to beat the former. Think about it yourself , how would you feel if your mother give out something that's legally yours to your younger brother because you've refuse to go on an errand for her . |
Politics › Re: Worsening Fuel Scarcity In Nigeria, Buhari Should Resign As Petroleum Minister by waveman2: 7:50pm On Dec 21, 2017 |
I almost wanted to I insult u but I will save dat.we are buying fuel at 145 Naira per liter because crude oil price is low. Now oil price is beginning to pick up reality is beginning to check in. They now have to increase price because selling at 145 is no more realistic but they, will not telling Nigerians d truth.GEJ was sold petrol at 97 Naira per liter as this our devilish apc said there was nothing like subsidy. What amazes me is the fact that Nigerians have lost their voice. By now we should be occupying Nigeria. 9jakohai: Oil subsidy must go...
1. There were serious scarcities during GEJ'S time in office...and we did not chase him out then. 2.Reasons why we have fuel queues are simple
First, we import PMS now at 142 . Before it was at 132 naira. And we are still forcing IPMAN to sell at N145. If i was an IPMAN member, i would have hoarded too. Second, oil prices are too low for Nigeria to adequately subsidize fuel AND increase the value of the naira. As a result, naira value is falling, meaning we need more naira to buy fuel, and more naira to get dollars to import. Nigeria needs oil at $120 per barrel to balance the books. Right now it is at $64. (That is why we borrow to finance the budget, but that's another story).
Bubu could end fuel queues IF he removed the 'imaginary' subsidy, and allowed fuel marketers to set their prices.
YES...fuel will sell at 200-300 naira per liter. YES...govt should have built new refineries, and gotten those modular refineries running.
BUT as investment flows in...since under deregulation, people would be allowed to make heavy profit...prices will fall, since those marketers who sell at lower prices than their competitors would make more money.
If BUBU wants to be a leader, not a politician, he should take the HARD decision and allow for deregulation. |
