Yeah I've got enough time. My BRP expires in October and the processing time for study permit in the UK is 3 weeks.

A guy had a case similar to yours in part 14 or 15: go ahead with the application, the good thing is that you don't need Biometric from the UK, so, you can definitely apply from a foreign land but your passport submission will be in Nigeria, therefore, you will eventually touch your home country soil.

I just got an admission from Tartu without a tuition fee waiver. I've emailed them to confirm this. If I don't get the waive, I'm straight up rejecting the application.

Well, that might not be so good. A friend that went last year also got no waiver but when he got to the school the told him he was given and all the fees he paid was refunded. I think they do that to filter people sometimes

It depends on the University actually. My application status says "The Faculty of Graduate Studies has received sufficient documents to begin an evaluation of your application. You will be notified as soon as possible once the review has been completed." I just chose two supervisors in my field when I applied, they did not ask me to contact them first.

For an Msc thesis based you'll need to get a supervisor first else they'll leave ur application pending. If u can't do that, email the graduate study admin for a switch to course based.

You should be happy that their standard of living is not on the high side compared to the UK or Canada. There's racism everywhere! It even boils down to tribalism in Nigeria.

Where you have people with different beliefs, skin colour, language, there would always be racism. After all, you'd find many Nigerians there. In fact, Nigerians are virtually everywhere!

You can work whilst studying in North Cyprus, but you must be heavily funded from home. You shouldn't have the mentality of working to pay your tuition, cash from menial jobs can't do that.

To be honest, Universities in various countries I know might not accept you because of the age factor.

Your best bet still remains North Cyprus.

Okay. Mine was different, I contacted a member of the Student Village Accommodation not the University. No deposit was made and payment on or before arrival was optional.

Nope. It's optional, either you pay after your reservation has been made or you pay on your arrival.

It's just a reservation, after that anticipated check-in date, and you don't fancy it again, the reservation made can be cancelled. It's that flexible.

Wow. I'd be attending the University of Bedfordshire next month. My tier 4 student visa application was successful.

Well, I advise you put the Student Village Accommodation address. Filling it doesn't necessarily mean that you would be mandated to reside there. Once you get your visa, it's optional.

But you shouldn't stay miles farthest away from the University, because you would be monitored. The penalty is withdrawal of Tier 4 license sponsorship by the University. I'm sure you know what that means. It's au revoir to UK.

Using the University's accommodation address if you're below 18 MIGHT have added advantages when the Entry Clearance Officer is about to take a decision on your submitted VISA application.


For my case, I used the University's accommodation address. The interviewer asked me the exact location of the Student Accommodation and postal code... Smh

I booked a single standard room for 3 months with a shared toilet (Only 2 people) at Lea halls for £99 per week. I made that reservation via email because the Student Village's website is ambiguous and not apt.

It's a 10 minute walk to the University albeit Fitzory and Wenlock courts in Luton are a minute from the University. Rents there are £135 per week and above - - Single Deluxe, En-suite, etc

Bedford campus - - £85-£87 per week.

Before the 3 months run out, I would have settled down, acclimatised, and explored cheaper rent options to save costs.

I think that would be my best bet.

I picked up my passport with the 1-month vignette in it this morning. I am sharing my experience to help anyone who might need it. I am going to study a PhD. at the University of Surrey.

My timeline:

-Application was made on the 10th of January (school resumed on the 9th Jan, registration closes on the 9th Feb).
-Acknowledgement from Sheffield on the 11th of January.
-Two TLS emails, confirming decision made AND passport pickup came in after 13 working days. The date on the visa vignette however was after 10 working days of the application. I never received an email from Sheffield.

My submission documentation:

- Application form
- Bank statement (Barclays Bank) showing required tuition and maintenance funds for exactly 28 days.
- Cover letter detailing when I returned to Nigeria (I was resident in the UK until November last year), why I want to study for a PhD., and a list of the documentation submitted for the application. This letter was very brief, no long story. Ideally, I should have used to actual application to cover that information (in the further information page)
- MSc. certificate and transcripts (stamped), both original.

I did not provide a TB certificate. This is because I had not been away from the UK for up to six months before making the application. However, for peace of mind, I would advice anyone in this situation to point that out in the "further information" section of the application, do not give the ECO an excuse to refuse your visa.

As for the application process itself, there will always be an interview (over some type of VOIP application, like Skype). They will ask you questions such as:
-what is your name?
-what school are you applying to?
-what is the name of your course (My answer was partially incorrect when I had my interview, I had a brain freeze and said "Renewable Energy" instead of "Environment and Sustainability Research"!)
-why do you want to study this course?
-how will this course benefit your career?

At the end of my interview, I asked the interviewer if there was anything she might want me to explain further. She explained to me that while the interview is a way to get to know a little bit about the applicant, the main thing they want to know is whether or not you have good command of English language. So I guess the important thing to do during the interview is to speak coherently, with good grammar.

2. WASSCE/NECO results with overall average marks of C5 or above. If you don't have that requirement, you'd be subjected to do a foundation year. (Bedfordshire and Coventry are the only Universities in the UK that accept WASSCE qualification without a foundation year, I stand to be corrected).

Hello, I enrolled in the University of central lancashire perston,i was supposed to resume on 14th of January, but due to the fact that the school fee, has not stayed up to 28 days in my account, I was unable to apply for my visa, I had to request for an extension,the deadline the gave me in the school is 23rd of January, I only have few days from the moment the money would complete 28days to on the 23rd ,I was asked to request for a supper priority visa, that takes only 24 hours, and with extra fee, I want to know my chances of getting my visa approved because am paying more than#1m for just the visa application, I dont want it to go to waste. Oops so sorry about that. But no one can actually tell you, your chances or guarantee you a positive result. Life is a risk, you've got to take it. If you don't risk certain things, you won't achieve your sole aim or main motive.

-Just have your maintenance money (very very essential)
-All necessary documents (very essential)
-Practice interview questions very well. Try as much as possible to be audible, fluent and confident.
-Make sure you know all possible questions.


When you do the right thing, you won't be denied.
I had these negative thoughts too, last year December, when I was about to and after having my interview. I made a key error (I forgot to include my dad's consent letter, maybe because our applications were together, it saved my head) and some trivial errors, but God saw me through.

Yes sure. Just pay for Super Priority services which costs £750 in addition to your application fees and you'd get a decision within 24 hours or Priority services which costs £150 extra too, and you'd get a decision within 3-7 working days. I'd advise you use the Abuja VAC Centre because they're faster.

I doubt if you'd see a school in the UK that has tuition fees of 6 million naira per annum. You haven't talked about accommodation, feeding, travel expenses and other unforseen expenses.
If it's the UK that I know, forget it... I'm being honest, your budget isn't realistic and it can't be possible.

And come to think of it, most Universities require a foundation year and majority are more than 3 million naira.
