My people, BVL and refusal letter landed today. Deferring admission to the next intake Fall 2020, ordering for gcms notes asap and to reapply Jan 2020.

Re-application July 11, 2019 online
No upfront medical
BVL and refusal letter came in today August 29, 2019.
To study @MUN, MASc in Energy Systems Engineering, had BSc in Elect./Elect. Engineering.

Four reasons given;

1. Travel history
2. Limited employment prospects in your country of residence
3. Personal asset and financial status
4. Purpose of visit

Soz bruv. Tbh you should have just gone for MEng Electrical Engineering to be on the safe side. Energy Systems Engineers are mainly sought after in first-world countries like Canada. Renewable/Sustainable Energy sector in Nigeria isn't even booming and that's the reason for denial reasons - 2 & 4 above. No one really cares about travel history. Although a different V.O might have assessed your application differently and overlooked your intended programme of study prospects.

Good day everyone. Please , I need some advice . I just got my admission letter but there is a mistake on the date of birth. Just a diff in year. My birth certificate , waec and passport carries the correct date. The admission letter is carrying a year before my date of birth. Can a sworn affidavit be OK for this error ? And hope it won't be an issue as I intend starting up my visa processing soon. I plead for sincere advice . Thanks

Dude just email your institution and ask them to correct the error and send you a new admission letter. No big deal

Everybody mustn't go to Canada, most Scandinavian countries offer loads of Scholarships for Int. Students.

Eastern European Universities have cheap tuition, you can go there study first and later on apply to Canada when your condition improves.

It's very unfair to limit other people's chances unnecessarily.

I got this mail few days ago from CIC,

I have reviewed your application and documents you submitted in its support. Subsection 11(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act provides that a foreign national must, before entering Canada, apply to an officer for a visa or any other document required by the Regulations. The visa or document shall be issued if, following an examination, the officer is satisfied that the foreign national is not inadmissible and meets the requirements of this Act.

Please experts in the house, advice me on what to do. Im confused seeing this email..... My fear now is hope JAILING is not applicable Sha

Harvard freshman deported after officials ‘find posts from his friends that oppose the US'

A Lebanese freshman student beginning classes at Harvard University next month was deported on Friday night after he was “deemed inadmissible” by US immigration officials during an inspection at Boston Logan International Airport.

Ismail Ajjawi, 17, said in a written statement obtained by the Harvard Crimson that he was subjected to hours of interrogation by US Customs and Border Protection officials who also searched through his phone and computer devices.

I'm tired of seeing this actually. First of all what school did you attend, and what course did you study?. Did you never use the internet?. Did you never try self studying?. Did you never compare curriculum?. Did you never try to understand one thing you ever studied?. I find this awkwardly funny because, my classmates and I used to look through PhD qualifying exams of some B rated state schools in America and find that the questions were familiar, and some easy to solve. Now, not because we were geniuses of any sort, but because sometimes we went just a tiny inch overboard to do some self learning. I've looked at curriculum, I've seen past exam questions, and I don't believe this nonsense of buddha level knowledge required for graduate school (except of course , everybody decides to be you grin). The only thing we miss is intensive practical sessions (as we don't have the tools); but trust me if it's theoretical knowledge, then if you're lagging behind it's your fault. I know someone would like to blame Nigerian Lecturers; but knowing the state of affairs and refusing to help yourself by teaching yourself is just misplaced priorities.
Except you're doing Representation theory, and P-adic Forms in your first week of grad school, don't come here and blow inanities please cheesy cheesy cheesy

This looks like TWoods' handwriting. undecided

A friend of mine suggested that I send my transcript and certificate to WES(world education system) for assessment before applying to any university or institution for postgraduate program. Please I need clarification on this. Also, should I attach transcript and certificate while emailing the postgraduate study whether I will be admitted for admission...

Not all Universities require WES. Try emailing their Graduate department, like I told you. Inquire from them. I know for sure University of Regina requires WES.

In as much as I find your views refreshing from the norm, you don't practice what you preach. You want students to stay back and study here, why didn't you? What makes you think they cannot contribute to the American society as much or even more than you've done considering you are not American by birth or parentage. I agree some people do not have the best intentions for wanting to travel and should be banned if possible, but you could have been at the forefront of this change you propagate but yet you sought refuge elsewhere. Before you accuse me of feeling entitled, I am neither an aspiring student or economically unfortunate and never been refused a Visa and like you I believe it's the prerogative of a country to give or refuse Visa to anyone. However, you share a kinship with those looking to leave because you misused your Visa and misrepresented yourself during your interview and kudos for legalizing your stay but you ain't no different.

Bless up for pointing out the bolded. He's not only a hypocrite, but a nuisance and liar. I'm sure he told the V.O how he would return back and use his acquired knowledge and skills to develop his home country, but now he's American. He contributed his own quota to the reasons why V.Os deny applicants because they'd rather settle down after study instead of returning home.
TWoods is a hypocrite, nuisance, selfish and self-centered egoistic individual with a touch of great lying spirit.

Such an apt and well-composed reply @groovychik. Thank you so much!

Lol, only you can tell how toxic he his because you probably stumbled upon this thread about 3months ago.

Him and his patriotic wife want the immigration laws tightened; which includes making it hard for people coming in to study.

Yet he's on this thread "contributing" and "helping" prospective students/applicants get their visa applications approved. What kind of hypocrisy is that? You can see he's a confused nuisance that keeps contradicting himself.

He's happy to vote for stricter immigration laws... the same law that made him a citizen?

He's advising others to stay back and fix Nigeria, but he took off and is currently chilling in America?

If the American government had his mindset, would be be opportune to be at his current location?

If you're still supporting someone with such controversial and questionable character, you need to re-evaluate your reasoning. This guy is literally a scumbag.
