Thanks man. Those Canada people are not worth it at all oh. seems the refusal rate has even increased. last time i was there everyone was complaining.

Y'all start getting ready for UK now and forget this Ireland and Canada thing.

If you enroll for January 2020 start and your course is for 16-months, you'd get it cuz UK post-work will take effect in June 2021.

* 2 years post-study work visa

* More student job opportunities compared to Ireland

* No IETLS needed

* 15 working days standard visa, 5-8 days priority, 24-48hrs super priority compared to Ireland's 2 months and Canada's "6 months" plus refusal

* UK study visa is straightforward. You don't have to write SOP, LOE and submit proof of 500 documents and home ties BS. Visa interview for standard is easy too, you basically know the questions they would ask. They don't even care about your previous visa refusals provided that you haven't been fraudulent or committed attrocities.

* You dont need to spend 800 euros on accommodation and also share your room, haba! 300 quid/month will get you a decent single room outside London.

* Admission is faster compared to Ireland and Canada

* MSc application is free in most UK Unis! No application fee at all! Coupled with generous disocunts too.
You can apply to 50 Unis in the UK and make your choice compared to Canada.

* Cheaper Universities compared to Ireland that are more recognised

* UK is generally more diverse compared to Ireland.

* Regardless, UK employers are willing to sponsor your Tier 2 visa compared to Ireland

* Some UK Unis like Birmingham city university and Uni of Bedfordshire have February start.

While in the UK, I had recruiters reach out to me for C# Graduate roles that would pay up to £55k/year. That's the highest most lecturers can make in the UK lol. I didn't take them seriously cuz I thought I was gonna move to Canada. If you're coming to do an MSc in IT-related roles, trying using your 20 hours/week to look for jobs in UK startups. Startups are flexible and you can negotiate something that wouldn't pass the 20hours/week limit. You can't add McDonalds Crew Member experience to your CV or Amazon Warehouse Worker.

For part-time gigs while studying, they tend to need people with good grasp of JavaScript and if you want to get sponsored by a hedge fund or licensed sponsor, C#/.NET is the way (It's in very HIGH demand).

Happy New Month y'all

*** Quick one

If you're doing a prorgamming/IT related course and you intend to come to the UK or you're in the UK, learn/focus on C# & .NET (ASP.NET). With your C#/.NET skill in the UK, recruiters will literally beg you to send your CV and the possibility of seeing jobs that would sponsor you is HIGH. Also, get active on LinkedIn.

Abeg stop the stereotyping that London universities are expensive just because of additional 200 pounds someone would pay for maintenance, feeding and all. Is just a mere difference . In fact in London you can get accommodation of 100 per week meanwhile in the so called cheap Birmingham the average is 90 per week just 30 pounds extra a month.

Now see the benefits of schooling in London, there are more students Jobs. I have rarely seen a London student that is willing to work but can not see work slot where he can complete his 20 hours limit and a place where he can work madly during holidays.
Most London students that work earn at least 150 -250 per week during studies . A girl I know works as a carer in old people home, a waiter in an African restaurant and in A fast food joint . In fact there were lot of options for Her. During the holidays when she is allowed to work limitlessly , she took a minimum of 500 pounds per week .

Most people that school outside London complain that there are few students jobs ,because the limited ones have been taken. Even those that may have , they may not see the ones that complete their little 20 hours limit.
The options in London for student jobs are much take it or leave .

Now about looking for jobs afterwards, there are lots of jobs that are good for placements in London . Trust me no lie.

About universities quality , out of the top 20 universities in UK, majority are in London (King college, imperial college , UCL, London royal college , School of economics)
In fact all schools in London except from university of East London are in top 50 )

So what scares people from London, simple paying the little difference of 20 to 30 for accommodation. Such petty reasons

To me if I come back to UK again would either school at London or Manchester, no no to Villages like Nottingham, Newcastle , Middlesbrough is the worst self. Racism is more there

Well said but abeg show me accommodation £100/week for London

On their website, they have it as January intake (18 months) which I applied last week.
They sent a mail not quite long that it has no January intake and I should consider September shocked

Please can someone help me with affordable schools with Information Systems or Data Analytics or Cyber Security (January/February intake, and above 1 year of study). Thanks

Depends on your interests tbh. For more tech job propspects, I'd suggest Data Science with Computational Intelligence. You can compare course contents and find out which aligns with your interests.

“MISQUOTE” Indeed.
sake of say you write am for pidgin you think say person no go reason and?

Look a the photo of your statement that I attached. Translate it to Queen’s English and write it out.
Then come back and talk about ‘misuoting’

"...better no yarn wetin dem go use deny you admission" - simply means do not sabotage your chances e.g if you know lying will hinder you from getting admitted, do not do it.

Stop making assumptions from what people say. Ask for proper clarification next time. Cheers.

I never said 'lie' o. I meant explain your case to the University. Besides, no one can hide any visa refusal from the Home Office.
Zoey1:
I really do not think it makes any difference.
I didn't get from ARU but got over 8 others schools that were better and then I became spoilt for choice.
All of them have representatives at the High Commission so if you get denied again without telling them about the previous and the representative finds out afterwards that you lied to them it may not augur well.
For me I will always tell, whatever is mine will be.

Why did you misquote me? Who said lie? I said do whatever it takes not to get denied admission cuz of visa refusal - like show proof, call, explain your situation etc. Smh
LaaJiblik:

Dear Nairalanders,
Please disregard this suggestion.
It’s improper to lie about previous visa denials.

By the way, the REASON for denials is always asked. And for universities like Anglia Ruskin, they ask for the denial letter. So unless the reason for denial was fraud or ‘yahoo-yahoo’ you have nothing to hide.

He is very correct.
ARU denied my application years back and I inquired further, the admission officer spelt it out that to protect their sponsorship they don't give admission to anyone who has been denied visa before because there is high probability of getting denied again, which in turn rubs off on their own sponsorship license.
If he probes further he would get an explanation, they don't give reasons on the application portal but if you ask ,you would be told and part of the application ask about immigration history and details, I am sure.
Teesside does this too

There's even a petition going around that's clamouring for even people graduating next year to be eligible. If the petition hits a certain number of signatures, they'd have to deliberate on the topic.

There's something you should know about the UK... they've always wanted to review this post work visa thing even before now. It's not even tied to B.J or anybody. Regardless of the outcome of BREXIT, they'd make it clear soon. They'd pass it into law before May 2021. I think January 2020 guys would be eligible cuz they'd still be on Tier 4 by May 2021.

Applying from UK won't be am issue for you since you are a legal resident there. But why don't you roundup your masters in UK then go to Canada for PhD or via express entry? With your UK masters, getting express entry will be very easy for you(though it also depends on your age).
London office will take at least 11 weeks to process his application and refuse him for two reasons. At least Nairobi will refuse anyone they wana refuse under 3-4 weeks.

Yes you can apply while in UK because you have a temporary residence status (your BRP).

Quick questions?

Why do you want to go for another masters? Some VO’s will want to know why ... so be prepared.

Do you have any work experience?

When will your BRP expire?

My suggestion is apply in UK.

I no agree with you o

Hello everyone, I'm currently studying for a Masters degree in the UK and I want to apply for another Masters degree in Canada.
I will like to ask if I can apply for Canadian Study Visa in the UK without having to come to Nigeria. I also wish to know the potential challenge I might encounter during the application process.

Thank you

Leemaaoo. I applied from the UK, it took 11 weeks and I got two generic refusal reasons. - purpose of visit & immigration status. Alaye better come back to Nigeria and apply

Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary are currently doing free application. So you'd get a tuition waiver instead of paying 75CAD. Started on Friday, Oct. 18 and would end on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019.

Hello bro,

I was also interested in your application. Three years back my brother applied for a study permit in the uk and he got rejected twice for both purpose of visit and immigration status, he later went back to Nigeria and applied for the third time and he got it. With the uk new immigration policy, you’re in the right path. You can always migrate in the future. Goodluck to you bro .

They should tell us that they don't want us applying from a third country instead of the immigration status bs. Anyway, bless up g

Oh so so sad to hear your application for a study permit of Canada was rejected; @waynee2baba. With your first class in the aforementioned discipline, your best shot could have been to secure a full funded scholarship in Canada rather than opting for an 8 months vocational training program, which is almost equal to your already completed degree. The visa officer would be seeing it from a wrong perspective that you're not a genuine student and probably using study permit as a means to facilitate your entry into Canada rather than educational advancement. Hence, your ability to convince the VO with your SOP would be very difficult considering your high CGPA. Great to hear you've other plans too and not restricting yourself to Canada. I pray and hope your back up plan favours you.

It shall end in praises.

Thanks a lot man. My initial plan was MSc at UCalgary. They wasted my time too by saying I should chill and they'd assign a supervisor to me. I should have applied for a course-based Masters in other Unis. Admission process is quite cumbersome in Canada too. I even applied to couple of UK Universities and after 3 days.. I had about 5 of them offering up to 50% scholarship for my MSc. I ignored them cuz of Canada. Now 2 years PSW visa is back, I'm deffo prioritising the UK. Admission process in Canada is long, visa long... everything is just complicated lol. Anyway, no hard feelings. I wish y'all Good luck in your future ambitions. Wetin go be go be

Lol after 11 weeks of waiting. I applied from London in July. I just finished my BSc in the UK. I had a first class too. A first class in Software Engineering at 19 and I was going for an OBJECT ORIENTED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT programme for 8 months. More like a specialised vocational training programme. Today, I got refused due to purpose of visit and immigration status. At least the torment is over... F*CK CANADA AND THEIR IMMIGRATION POLICIES! I could have sworn I had the best SOP. Why deny me for immigration status? I was on a freaking TIER 4 VISA man. This is the end of this stupid struggle for me. UK has 2 year post-study work visa. If they had implemented this since, what would I be looking for in cold deserted Canada. I won't even rant about Nigeria. It's pointless. I'd be back to the UK next year. smiley
