You obviously don't know how it is produced. Your favorite 'pure water' is just a combination of borehole water and alum used for purification. We are not talking affordability here but how pure it is. Even tap water is purer than satchet water because it is also treated water.

Do I even begin with the poor sanitary conditions in which these so called 'pure water' are produced? More than 80% of producers are not even Nafdac approved and they churn our tasty water full of particles.

Saying it is the same water that goes into all containers is laughable. Visit the factory site of 'Swan bottled water' and other renowned brands, then come back and tell me the same thing.

Lol....I hear some people are selling at 50 naira per satchet. I know a pure water manufacturer who is still selling a bag for #220. Retailers will buy from him and still sell at #50 because everyone is hiking prices of goods. We are the cause of our problems.

I challenged you to mention the price of a consumable that has increased from #5000 to #10,000 recently and you are talking about pure water. Which pure water manufacturer is selling a bag at #1000 at the moment? Not even for #500.

But some greedy retailers are selling one satchet water for #50. That is, they are making a whopping #600-#700 profit per bag for what they used to make no more than #200 naira profit per bag.

If this isn't greed and exploitation, then what is? Who is feeling the heat if not the poor? How many elites drink satchet water? Is it not broke people that drink satchet water? I am telling you that retailers are exploiting people and you are arguing blindly.

These people buy at 'wholesale prices' and don't usually feel the heat when there is an increase in prices. So, there is no justification for selling old stocks for the price of new. You castigate politicians, but support greedy traders.

Who isn't aware that prices of goods are escalating? But just because it is, I am saying: 'don't use the situation to exploit people unnecessarily'. Is that too difficult to understand?

What do I do? Sell old stock at the old rate and not have enough money to buy new stock, or raise my prices now, maybe not have quite enough cash, but not as bad as if I sold my old stock at original price.

Firstly, retailers don't get charged per item, but in bulk so your analogy is off point.

Secondly, just because a cartoon of wine increases by 300, it will not make a retailer lose his capital because he decides to sell at the old rate. It is greed that will finish Nigerians, so stop justifying nonsense.

Of course you ain't a trader and don't know how these things work. Traders buy at 'wholesale rates' and not per item, so your analogy doesn't count. Let's assume a trader buys a cartoon of salt for 5K to sell at a retail price of 80#, with the estimate of making 700# profit per cartoon.

Then he hears that a cartoon of salt now sells for 5,100. Tell me how such a trader will lose all his initial capital suddenly because he decided to sell at the old rate of 80#?

No retailer will be out of business if they sell old stocks at old rates before restocking. That is why they have their 'initial capital' It is greed that is making them act that way.

There is something we call 'initial capital', and then your profits. No matter the increase in price, traders hardly incur losses because the margins in price differences are usually very slim and will not affect their capital.

You clearly do not have a business and you don't know how to run one. So let's assume it was bought a year ago for 2000 so you decide to sell it at 2500 and make a profit of 500, only to go to the market to restock and it's now 3000. Don't you see that it is a big loss?

Shut it if you don't have a valid point. Why should a smart business restock if sales are not moving? Ain't you supposed to sell, calculate PNL before purchasing new stocks? Why should you sell an old stock for the price of new? You are one of the problems in this country.

Loyalty has become exctinct. I have witnessed family members celebrate weddings immediately after the death of a loved one. They usual claim is that the preparation was made before the loss. Perhaps, the same reason could be playing out in this scenario.
