The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Olumuyiwa, for allegedly stealing chickens worth N8 million in a farm
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a statement issued on Sunday, August 13, 2023, said the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged by the director of the farm simply identified as Bamgbose.
According to Odutola, the director noted that when chickens on the farm were tallied, over 1,300 chickens worth N8m could not be accounted for.
“On August 11, 2023, when the fowls were counted, the director discovered that about 1,300 valued at N8m could not be accounted for.
“The farm director is pained at the enormous havoc done to the poultry farm, especially during the current harsh economic situation.”
She noted that following the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, the command embarked on a preliminary investigation which led to the arrest of one suspect.
“The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has been briefed and he has ordered more investigation.
“A preliminary investigation has commenced and the suspect has been apprehended and is presently in police custody to ascertain the extent or veracity of theft if he was stealing from the poultry farm and selling or eating them, all that will be made known soon to members of the public,” she said.

darling4242: A 28-years-old woman, Adaeze Lawrence, is currently in the custody of the Abia State Police Command for allegedly stealing her friend’s one month and two days old baby boy.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Lawrence gained the trust of the baby’s mother, Onyinyechi Owujie, and became her friend before she committed the crime.
The suspect, a hair stylist, was said to be a schoolmate of Owujie’s elder sister through whom she gained access to her (Owujie).
She reportedly requested that they celebrated the baby’s birth and absconded with the boy during the celebration.
The case was reported to the police following which she was arrested in her hideout.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chioma Chinaka, in a statement, said credible intelligence led to the suspect’s arrest on Monday.
The statement read, “On August 14, 2023, around 4pm, the Abia State Police Special Weapons and Tactics Team, Aba, received credible information and effectively apprehended one Adaeze Lawrence of Amaogbonna Road, off Osisikakwu Street in Aba.
“She was found in possession of a baby boy who is one month and two days old.
“During interrogation, the accused confessed to abducting the child from Onyinyechi Owujie’s residence situated at 5, Cricke Road, off Nigeria Brewery, Aba.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect and the baby’s mother’s elder sister were schoolmates. The suspect took advantage of this relationship to gain the baby’s mother’s trust.
“The suspect, under the pretence of visiting her friend, requested to celebrate the new baby’s birth. On their celebration outing, she absconded with the baby.”
The statement further revealed that the suspect earlier denied abducting the child, claiming that he was hers, but after a medical report proved that she was not the biological mother, she confessed to the crime.
“Upon the suspect’s arrest, Adaeze Lawrence denied the crime, but medical examinations from the police clinic disproved her claims, leading to her confession. The child’s biological mother identified the baby, confirming the abduction on August 6, 2023,” the statement added.
Chinaka said an investigation was ongoing on the case.
She also advised members of the public to be protective of their children and to know their whereabouts, especially when in a public place.
“The public is advised to maintain constant supervision of children and exercise caution when strangers take an interest in their children, especially in public places,” she said.

A statement by the police spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said preliminary investigation reveals that the trio are, however, claiming that the video, which has generated public outcry and condemnation due to the inconceivable assault, inhuman and degrading treatments meted out on Chinenye as seen in the video, is a prank and meant to garner followers on their social media accounts.
In the viral video, Chinenye was humilated and this elicited reactions from many Nigerians.

Bobloco: President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday unveiled the portfolios of his ministers.
Tinubu appointed former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Festus Keyamo, Aviation Minister.
As expected, the portfolios have attracted mixed and diverse reactions from Nigerians on social media.
While some are happy with the appointments, others are critical of the portfolios some got.
One of the ministers who is trending on social media is Wike, who contested the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
He had indicated interest in emerging presidential running mate but Atiku overlooked him. The new FCT Minister had drawn the battle line with the opposition party since then.
In a post via X, formally Twitter, Joe Abah, a former director-general of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, said Wike as FCT minister would make the city centre bubble at night.
“If it’s true that Wike is the new FCT Minister, it would mean that he’ll be the first southerner to be FCT Minister. It will also mean that his band is back with a bang. Abuja gardens will no longer need to close by 7pm because Wike will come with his 40-year-old whiskey.”
Writing via @adeniyisegun114, one Adeniyi Seugun, said he would not be surprised if Wike orders the demolition of PDP national secretariat.
