Politics › Re: Tinubu Has Solution For Impact Of Subsidy Removal, Says Oshiomhole (Video) by Wealthoptulent(m):
MrNotAgain:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9NPNf5Uopk

A former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has expressed confidence that issues arising from the removal of fuel subsidy will be quickly resolved between the Federal Government and the organized labour.

Oshiomhole, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, said that President Bola Tinubu recognizes the impact the withdrawal of fuel subsidy is having on Nigerians and is determined to take immediate action to cushion it.

“This president recognizes that the effect of the withdrawal is already here, people are already going through some level of discomfort and therefore there has to be an immediate solution to it.

“Now that immediate solution is what we discussed and the fact that we are meeting on Tuesday again shows that clearly, we realize that this is not one of those things you want to buy time because it has a real negative impact, on particularly, the most vulnerable group.

“But we have a solution to it because you are going to make savings, so take from that savings or even if it is borrowing. So, whatever it is, you can leverage some revenue and improve wages to cushion the cost of living, I think it is legitimate, I think it is doable, it is not something that you want to spend two to three months negotiating,”
Oshiomhole said.

The former Nigeria Labour Congress (NUC) president was part of a meeting between the Federal Government and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Sunday and he said the meeting was productive, adding that the government will consider all the demands by the TUC and revert on Tuesday.

He said that if Nigeria can save about N7 trillion by ending subsidy, the Federal Government can take part of that money and put in the wage sector “because those savings will go into the federation account which will be distributed among the three tiers of government and so every tier of government will have more money and should be able to meet the consequential increase in wages”.

Have been reading some people's comments on nairaland here regarding the removal of subsidy

I can say the tribalism in us is fully out

Imagine this same subsidy removal we all protested against in 2012 is now what some people refer as south east and south south protest in 2023
Bros no allow tribalism set u on fire 🔥,
Was these our knowledge back then?
We only cared n feared for PMS price increase then, didn't more damaging things occurred to us in the time frame?
Was bag rice in 2012 was same in 2014? Let alone 2023. Let face it now.. we are wise and have more ideas of damages "SUBSIDY" gives.. its a Bait to take away many things while they are jus giving just one thing in return.

Who ever still support SUBSIDY like in 2012 has not added up wisdom n knowledge since then.

In 2012 they Left SUBSIDY alone bt couldn't eradicate Corruption in it... it show SUBSIDY itself is a SCAM & 100 CORRUPTION.

Politics › Re: Ajaero Doing Peter Obi's Bidding, NLC Strike Is Politically Motivated- Afegbua by Wealthoptulent(m): 7:13am On Jun 05, 2023
hisexcellency34:
Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former Commissioner for Information in Edo state and ally of President Bola Tinubu has berated the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) over its call for a national strike on fuel subsidy removal.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Afegbua said the strike is politically motivated given the fact that the president of the NLC, Joe Ajaero is doing the bidding of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the just concluded general elections.

He said "The planned NLC strike reportedly slated for Wednesday 7 June is politically motivated; because the Ajaero-led NLC has become a partisan Congress, doing the bidding of Peter Obi, its presidential candidate. Joe Ajaero, is threatening to shut down the country through the backdoor, to create the wrong impression, that Nigerians are not happy with the new government".

"We all know that Joe Ajaero, the Nigeria Labour Congress president campaigned vigorously for Peter Obi, who also declared during his campaigns that subsidy was an "organised crime," that would not stay a day longer, if he became president. Why then is the NLC now pretending as if the removal of subsidy is not a welcome development?"

"All the frontline candidates during the last February Presidential election: Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso, and Tinubu promised the removal of subsidy from day one. They all campaigned with it to woo voters. Why are Ajaero, Obi and Atiku suddenly behaving like the ostrich, appearing unaware of the evil of sustaining subsidy?"

"Ajaero is poised to playing politics with the lives of workers and Nigerians. He has become partisan and lacks the moral rectitude to appear as though he's fighting for the average worker. The government has started consultations to find the best cushioning initiatives and palliatives to mitigate the temporary pains associated with the subsidy removal. We all agreed that subsidy has become the hotbed of corruption in the country".

"Oil marketers are not only fraudulent, they have become dangerous economic predators that are breathing down our throats for too long. What the new administration of President Tinubu has done, was to uproot the issue from day one, to allow the opportunity for robust engagement on how best to provide cushioning initiatives".

"If he allowed subsidy a day longer, the desire to remove it would be hijacked by those economic predators who are ready to go to any length to thwart the process. We must collectively join hands together to halt the hurt of subsidy and save the country from wholesale corruption that has held us down for long".

"The new government has shown a desire to step on the sore toes of those who do not mean well for our economic wellbeing. Oil marketers have become economic saboteurs, frustrating all attempts to fix our refineries, because it pays them to keep our refineries out of operation. With the removal of subsidy, further attempts would be made to fix our refineries while also generating ideas to apply palliative measures to cushion the pains".

"All patriotic Nigerians must appreciate this altruistic intention of government to tackle this drain pipe in the nick of time, rather than dancing to the political tunes of Mr. Joe Ajaero. The Ajaero-led NLC must see the present situation from the perspective of its long term benefit instead of blindly threatening strike without exhausting the deliberations and consultations which the government has started with Labour".

"Aside from being politically motivated, nothing thus far, could be seen as the motivation for strike at a time Labour should be assisting government to deal a lethal blow to oil profiteers and predators. One gets the impression that NLC has become collaborators. What Ajaero is trying to do is to invoke the anger of their Labour Party supporters to provoke a strike, to distract government from taking the desired decision against subsidy removal".

"The time for politics is over: this is the age of setting new standards to rescue our dear nation from implosion and economic stagnation. NLC, NUPENG, PENGASSAN, ASUU JUSUN, and TUC, should please put the interest of the nation first, and at heart at this time".

Politics › Re: Amazing - Election Tribunals To Shut Down As Workers Affected By Subsidy Removal by Wealthoptulent(m): 7:09am On Jun 05, 2023
akingangan:
Finally, Obi can take a break and a chill pill

Election tribunals to shut down as judicial workers announce industrial action over subsidy removal

President Bola Tinubu announced the end of the subsidies upon assumption of office last week, a move that immediately set the country on dire economic straits as workers began anticipating draconian changes in the prices of commodities across the country.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of Labour Party are both challenging Mr Tinubu’s declaration as president at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja. Other tribunals hearing cases ranging from state assembly elections to governorship poll disputes are also expected to be affected by the strike, which begins Wednesday.

The judicial workers’ union in a memo dated June 3 said its members would proceed on a solidarity protest strike with the Nigeria Labour Congress, the largest workers affiliate, on Wednesday.

“This is to inform all branches and chapters of our great union across Nigeria to begin mobilisation for a nationwide action and withdrawal of service,” the memo, shared with Peoples Gazette late Sunday, said.

Isaiah Adetola, one of the JUSUN executives who signed the memo, told The Gazette in a follow-up exchange that the strike would affect all judicial workers, and the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will have to shut down.

“We cannot watch as Nigerian poor masses are dying on the streets because a government said there will be no going back on subsidy removal,” Mr Adetola said. “That cannot be a realistic or acceptable situation for the Nigerian workers.”

Mr Adetola said Nigerian workers are not necessarily against removing subsidies on petrol, which have been in place since 1970s, but decried the manner with which Mr Tinubu ordered the policy. Millions of Nigerians are expected to be plunged further into poverty as food prices shoot up across the country.

JUSUN, with over 120,000 members, is the latest union from a critical sector to join the budding industrial action led by the NLC.

Over the weekend, the National Union of Electricity Employees also informed its members to withdraw services in protest against fuel subsidy removal.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, who vacated office on May 29, had planned that subsidies on petrol would expire by the end of June, eliminating provisions for the critical policy in the 2023 budget.

Mr Tinubu, an ally of Mr Buhari’s who had vowed to continue the ruling APC’s policies, swiftly embraced the policy, pronouncing in his inaugural speech on May 29 that “subsidy is gone”. His pronouncement triggered panic across the country as citizens rushed to buy fuel while oil marketers suddenly increased pump prices.

Mr Tinubu argued that subsidies on petroleum have, over the decades, benefitted Nigeria’s rich and upper working class to the detriment of the poor. He vowed to divert savings from the removal to shore up infrastructure spending, as well as poverty-alleviation initiatives that target the country’s masses.

On May 31, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) announced pump price increases that saw a jump from N195 per litre to over N500 nationwide.

Acting swiftly, the victim sought cover behind a pillar and swiftly made his escape from the area.

Crime › Re: A Dubious Driver Duped Me Of N30,000; And Still Wants More Money From Me.. by Wealthoptulent(m): 6:52pm On Jun 04, 2023
BluntNigerian:
Good Day My dear fellow Nairalanders.

I am really Not feeling good today.

A certain logistics driver somewhere in Lagos is badly dulling my vibes.
And I am deeply heartbroken right now as I am typing this.

I would really love you guys to call him on phone and disturb him with your “Greetings” on my behalf, and tell him to settle my life abbegg, so that I can carry my small goods where his laziness and dubious character had kept it, so that I can go my way peacefully.

His name is Ukanwoke Enyinnaya.
And this is his phone number:
0-8-0-3 - 7-6-3 - 3-6-3-6.

He duped me of Thirty Thousand Naira (N30k) just to transport a small load which I bought for N80k

Now he is trying to make pay another N30k

I am now suffering for the criminality of another person.

Here below is the whole long story of how everything happened..

I bought goods that are worth N80k from a customer in Lagos on 4th-May (Thursday), and she linked me up with a driver that was supposed to bring the goods down to Awka (in Anambra State), with a Waybill charge of N30k; which I paid directly into the would-be driver's account.

After 2-weeks of unnecessary delay, I got a call from a totally different number belonging to a driver who was transporting the goods to Awka, and he was requesting that I should pay him N30k before I can carry my goods.

At first, I thought it was the supposed driver to whom I paid the N30k to.

So, I tried explaining to the driver that the waybill-charge of the goods had already been paid for, but he insisted that I must pay another N30k because no money was given to him when he took off from Lagos., that he picked up the goods on the basis of pay-on-delivery.

I tried finding out what he did with the N30k I already paid for the waybill of the goods, but he said that he didn't know what I was talking about.
That was when it dawned on me that I was communicating with a totally different driver.

When the new driver finally arrived Awka on Sunday, (21st-May), I went to meet him, and he still maintained that I am owing N30k, and he showed me a manifest to prove himself.

There-and-then, I contacted the other supposed driver to whom I paid N30k to explain things to him, then he pleaded with the new driver to release my goods to me, but he blatantly refused, and threatened to carry the goods back to Lagos.

The supposed driver pleaded that he would resolve the matter at the park manager’s office the next day (Monday 22nd-May), and that I must get my goods on Monday. But then the driver who carried the goods still insisted that he would return my goods to Lagos if I did not pay the additional N30k.

He then decided to go and drop the goods with a Logistics Company in Awka, who paid him the N30k and collected the goods from him and dismissed him.
Now, my goods are inside the Logistics Company in Awka, and they are requesting that I refund them the N30k they paid to the driver before I can collect my goods from them.

After I finished explaining to them that the waybill-charges had already been fully paid, they now contacted the supposed driver to whom I earlier paid the N30k to, for him to refund the N30k to them so they can release my goods to me.

He had even collected the account number of the Logistics Company several times, yet he had refused to make any payment to them.

He later called and pleaded with me, that I should assist in making part-payment of N10k so that he can complete the rest of the money; because Customs seized the goods along the way and they had to pay for some charges.
I accepted the reasons he gave and agreed to pay the N10k. But to my greatest surprise, he still refused to comply for almost ONE WEEK now..

I even threatened him with “Alụsi” (shrine), but he begged me to give him three days that he would rectify everything within three days.

The three days elapsed today, and I have not heard anything from him up till this very moment.

I don't know how else to make this driver to release this money so I can carry my goods.

He was definitely expecting me to pay another N30k just like that, so that it would be that I paid a total of N60k as waybill charges for goods of N80k.

It's really heartbreaking.

Abi auto reset!

Interesting15:
When I was a little boy, despite that my immediate environment wasn't one that encouraged full-blown spirituality (in God), I usually feel the hand of God on me, and I'm usually conscious of His presence. As I approached the adolescence period of my life, as expected, sexual urges started coming, and I was also with the desire to express these emotions. Despite that the devil stationed other young teenage females around, I found myself being hindered continually from defiling myself.

While I was still contemplating, as a very young teenager (many years ago), if I should taste sex once, or wait until marriage, everything changed after God visited me with His offer.....

The Host of Heaven visited me as a young boy, and the offer was: Walk before Me and be perfect, and in return, I will give you...... In return, I will make you....

After reflecting deeply on which way to go, I decided to go for God's offer, since I discovered it is more beneficial to me. So, it means I have to fight to ensure I won't fall into temptation and displease God.

Interestingly, God made it so easy for me.. When I see young people lamenting that their sexual urges are "driving them insane", I can't really relate, because I'm fully in control of mine."

The best decision I made in my life was deciding to embrace God's offer from a very young age and walk with Him. I keep enjoying pleasantness in all regards. I keep enjoying His Grace in awesome ways. I keep getting great things others struggle for, easily.

In fact, one of the rewards was writing to encourage others to embrace purity and chastity. I have been writing since I was a young teenager, and my books and articles are being bought and read in different parts of the world - even in faraway places like India! And of course, I'm sure God is still taking me to higher grounds.

Because of that decision, I can boldly say it anywhere that I haven't indulged in premarital sex and I'm undefiled. And guess what? I'm very fine! Very healthy. I won't defile myself, and so, my messages will keep touching the world with fire, and bring people to the will of God through Jesus Christ.

Beloved, just as God gave me the offer, He is also giving you the offer to walk before Him and be perfect. If you align yourself with God by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and you decided to devote your life to Him, He will give you dominion over sin, the devil, and creation (financially, health-wise, family-wise, etc).

Jesus said: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

Like me, you can live an undefiled life. Don't believe the lies of the devil that you can't control these urges. Stop allowing sexual immorality to wreck your life. Flee from all appearances of sin.

Jesus wants an eternal communion with you. It is your destiny to serve God in Spirit and in Truth through Jesus Christ His Son, and have dominion over creation. Open yourself to the Lord. Call upon His Name, and He will help you. God bless you.

Ex Marlian music dancer Lil Smart has alleged that singer Zinoleesky brand new car, Ferrari belongs to his dad, Naira Marley.

This reaction from Lil Smart comes after Zinoleesky, the “Personal” hitmaker via his verified Instagram page flaunts his newly acquired Ferrari worth N149M.
