Politics › Re: Man Jailed For 45yrs For Stealing Aregbesola’s Phone by wellmax(m): 11:11am On Apr 30, 2013
Culled from Fagro's FB page
Let’s frame this argument properly and look beyond the party affiliation and person involved. And let’s read beyond the headline. There’s nothing wrong in the judgments passed by a court of competent jurisdiction on Kelvin Ighodalo – the young man who stole the Governor’s phone. The 45 years are to run concurrently. It means he is to spend 10 years in prison. In prison, a day is 12 hours. It further means he is to spend 5 years in prison.

It isn’t about the phone but what he did with it - duped an Oba and the Governor’s friend. This guy was Governor while it lasted! And who steals a governor’s phone in Nigeria, given those mean looking security details around them, if not a criminal. Let’s also not forget that Kelvin has been in prison once in connection with a murder case. So this was another evidence used against him in court.

The phone was stolen in 2010. It means he has spent 3 years behind bar and so has about 2 more years left of his sentence.

Our argument should not be that the judgment was wrong but that there is no equality in our penal system. Yusuf (the pension thief) gets a slap on the wrist and Kelvin does not. How Kelvin and the several Yusufs among us get equality in the eye of the law should be our apprehension. Because one judge refuses to do the right thing does not mean others should.

It’s sad enough that it took three years for him to have his full day in court. For now, how we get mother justice to put back her blind fold should be our collective concern. She has long removed it

Celebrities › Picture Of Mark Zukerberg And Wife On Holiday In Hawaii by wellmax(op): 9:35pm On Apr 26, 2013
Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan enjoy their vacation in Hawaii. The couple ate lunch at Bubba’s burger and then grabbed smoothies before walking back to their beach front house on April 22, 2013. (DaGreenTeam / Splash News)

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are currently on vacation in Hawaii, where they’ve rented a (presumably lavish) beachfront home. And yet, they’re eating at “Bubba’s Burger,” from which Zuckerberg took a soda to go. And, of course, no warm weather spot would be without his infamous Adidas slip-on sandals and a pair of madras shorts.

Celebrities › Being An Evangelist Doesn't Stop My Acting Career"-actress, Eucharia Anunobi by wellmax(op): 10:27am On Apr 24, 2013
Nollywood actress turned full-time evangelist, Eucharia Anunobi has vowed not to abandon her acting career for a full-time ministerial work.

The actress who was ordained an evangelist a while back did a question and answer section where curious fans ask her several questions.

See her response to some questions below

Why would Nigerians, my own people, think in the direction that I have either stopped acting or would never feature in any movie because of my calling and ordination as an Evangelist? As if Actors are sinners?

What is the job of acting all about in the first instance? And what are the roles and responsibilities of an Evangelist? Dissemination of Information right?

I think everyone should try to grab a copy of GOD OF SHILOH AND GOD OF ZION, then, the MESSAGE about the relationship between Acting and Evangelism would be clearer to US.
