LZAA:
A few errors here though
Ifeajuna was the brains of that coup.nzeogwu was brought in when plans for the coup were at an advanced stage.
The main reason why northerners were murdered in the coup was that they were in leadership positions in both civil and military life
The coup failed in the east cause lt oguchi failed to carry out his duty on a flimsy excuse that the archbishop of cyprus was with the eastern premier
Yes nzeogwu loved revolution but that was not his reason for staying unmarried
Nzeogwu was a TOTAL teetootaler.they tend to be insular and welcome unnecessary interactions the same way u welcome rats into ur home grin
Other than that nice write up
Exactly, and which ultimately delayed his dispatching of men to Benin before the Ironsi men took over

I supervised a project at Toru Ndoro some years ago (completed) and was deeply appalled by the level of poverty in that beautiful community which falls under Ekeremor in Bayelsa state. An Ekeremor with a prominent son like Heineken Lokpobiri who has held didn't government positions since the Alamieseigha tenure till now as junior minister of Agriculture but was baffled to find out as at then that an uncompleted school was his constituency project for the lga (?) which he later abandoned. Our niger delta leaders are indeed the biggest problems after the FG we have in that region.
You are right. Our so-called leaders and elites constitute mostly the problem of the region. Most abandoned projects are handled by them like these ones above. They are used to living expensive lifestyle at the detriment of the local people.

PoliticsSTATE OF INFRASTRUCTURE IN BULOU-NDORO COMMUNITY, BURUTU LGA, DELTA STATE by Welrez(op):
I visited the village over the yuletide and this was what I saw there. I am still speechless and can't fathom how people have been impoverished to the extent of having nothing of modern infrastructure. It was a case of neglect and marginalisation rolled into one as the community cannot boast of a single modern facility. Everything is in dire need of a makeover. Investigations uncovered a consistent pattern of heartless and wanton abandonment of projects on the part of contractors and nonchalant attitude of government functionaries who are involved in a mutual conspiracy to ensure persistent exploitation of the local people.

The pitiable state of the only primary school in the community has led to two trends: first, parents now send their wards and children to the neighbouring Toru-Ndoro for both Primary and secondary education; second, the derelict nature of the primary school means children are sent home whenever there is a storm or it becomes uncomfortably breezy because the so-called new building is near collapsing. As if to rub salt into the community wound, both health facilities have collapsed as the only maternity home has no health official manning it and the building taken over by weeds, reptiles and other crawling. The solar street lights installed in the community some years ago have gone kaput due to lack of maintenance. The only tank put up since the 1980s has long become dysfunctional which forces the people to rely on the river which is home to all forms of waste products. This is a visible threat to healthy living and can lead to the outbreak of cholera.

Against this background, it has become pertinent and urgent to rescue this riverine community from neglect and repair and rebuild the meagre infrastructure to ease the suffering of the people. I feel they don't deserve it and should be paid more attention by both the Delta State Government, the Burutu Local Government, Senator James Manager whose community is not far from this community, as well as other representatives at local, state and federal levels.

The attached picture is the state of the primary school in the community and it is nothing short of an eyesore!

Funny guy, but that is not why couples tend to look alike after living together for a long period, but spending a lot of time together, interacting with each other, people unconsciously mimic each other's facial expression, make funny faces together, try to match the partner's response because instinctively they feel that they are likely to be better understood if they “speak” the same facial “language”.

Over many years, this exercise for facial muscles creates similar features, wrinkles, folds, etc. The same diet equally plays a role

PoliticsAbiodun, APC Ogun Guber Candidate, In Certificate Scandal by Welrez(op): 9:53pm On Dec 15, 2018
Dapo Abiodun, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state, is enmeshed in allegations of perjury over his post-secondary school qualifications, TheCable can report.

According to documents seen by TheCable, Abiodun declared only his West African School Certificate (1978) in the Form CF001 that he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on October 23, 2018, ahead of the 2019 general election.

However, when he ran as the APC senatorial candidate (Ogun east) in 2015, he claimed to have attended the University of Ife, Ile-Ife (graduating in 1986) and Kennesaw State University, Atlanta Georgia, US (1989) in his INEC form CF001, backed by an affidavit he swore to at the high court, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

Curiously, while he listed B.B.A. (hons) accounting as the degree he got in 1986 as at then, he was silent on what he studied at Kennesaw State University.

However, in his official curriculum vitae, he claimed to possess another degree, B.Eng (hons) in civil engineering, presumably received in 1989 from the American university.

Also, on the website of Heyden Petroleum Limited where Abiodun is MD/CEO, underneath his name were listed B.Sc civil engineering and BBA accounting.

If he proceeded immediately to Kennesaw after graduating from Ife in 1986, he would not have finished before 1990 as civil engineering is a four-year course at the university.

There are strong suspicions that he did not do the compulsory national youth service, even though he finished his first degree in 1986 — going by the INEC form CF001 that he filled ahead of the 2015 election, supported by an affidavit.

Abiodun was born on May 29, 1960 and was 26 in 1986 when he claimed to have finished his first degree. The age limit for national service is 30.

Apart from the possibility of having committed perjury either in 2014 or 2018, there is also the possibility that he skipped the compulsory national service, which is punishable under the law.

SECTION 13 OF THE NYSC ACT STATES:
(1)Any person (b) who refuses to make himself available for service in the service corps continuously for the period specified in subsection (2) of this section, is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of N2,000 or to imprisonment for a term of twelve months or to both such fine and imprisonment.
A criminal conviction will also mean the offender is barred from holding public office.

SECTION 182 OF THE 1999 CONSTITUTION STATES:
182. (1) No person shall be qualified for election to the office of Governor of a State if – (e) within a period of less than ten years before the date of election to the office of Governor of a State he has been convicted and sentenced for an offence involving dishonesty or he has been found guilty of the contravention of the code of Conduct.
Earlier this year, he was appointed chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In 2012, he was appointed chairman of the Depot and Petroleum Product Marketers Association (DAPPMA), a position he still holds.

Abiodun has been having a running battle with Ibikunle Amosun, governor of the state, and the state working committee of the APC over his endorsement by the national body of the party for the 2019 governorship election, instead of Adekunle Akinlade, the governor’s choice.

The APC candidate had accused Amosun of plotting to upturn the decision of national working committee (NWC) of the ruling party to recognise him as the guber candidate of the state, while accusing the governor of being “desperate to install” Akinlade at all cost.

All calls and SMS to his phone by TheCable went unreplied and unreturned.

Politics13.5m Nigerians Voted Without PVC In 2015 – 75% In States Won By Buhari by Welrez(op): 2:21pm On Dec 08, 2018
At least 13.5 million Nigerians voted manually in the 2015 presidential election, according to data from the Independent and National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Based on an analysis of the data, 75 percent of votes cast without PVC were in states won by President Muhammadu Buhari, then candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Of the 31,746,490 accredited voters in the election, 13,536,311 representing 42.6 percent of voters voted without biometric accreditation.

Out of this number, 10,184,720 votes are from states won by Buhari and 3,351,591 votes came from states won by Jonathan, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, representing 75 percent and 25 percent of accredited voters respectively.

PoliticsKano Governor Ganduje Caught On Video Receiving Dollars From Suspected Contracto by Welrez(op): 6:13pm On Oct 14, 2018
The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has appeared in a video receiving money in dollars alleged to be bribe amounting to about $5million.

The money was given by persons believed to be contractors in to the state government.

The video which was released by online media, Daily Nigerian, was a sting operation that captured the governor on camera collecting the money at different occasions.

The governor in response says the video is ‘cloned.’

Meanwhile, PRNigeria gathered that security and forensic experts have screened and verified the authenticity of a trove of video clips of the bribery before the online media decided to release it to the public on Sunday.

The publisher of Daily Nigerian, Jaafar Jaafar, who had gone underground due to alleged threat to his life, said the sting operation to capture the governor on camera began two years ago when one of the contractors agreed to a request by the media outfit to plant spy camera on his kaftan lapel while offering the bribes.

The publisher said: “During about 10 months efforts to capture the bribe giving/taking scenes, the governor’s face and body were clearly captured in nine clips, while six others did not clearly reveal the governor’s face. About $5m dollars were delivered to the governor during the sting operation.

“One of the contractors who preferred not to be named said the reason he collaborated with DAILY NIGERIAN was to expose corruption and bring sanity to the country.”

“The contractor stated that if his aim was to blackmail or extort the governor, he would have used the videos to get over a billion settlement or force the governor to pay the hundreds of millions of naira the state was owing to his company or force him to pay back all the money he paid as kickbacks.

“We believe if public office holders are exposed, there will be sanity in the system.”

In its response to the video, the Kano government has claimed that the video was cloned.

“We wish to state that there is no iota of truth to these allegations and if indeed there is any such alleged video, it is at best cloned,” the Kano state commissioner for information, Muhammad Garba, said in a statement.

“The government of Kano state is taking this matter seriously, and will exploit every appropriate and legal avenue to ensure that it gets to the root of the matter and the perpetrators are brought to book.”

PoliticsAnother Goof? Dead Judge Among Nigerians Banned From Travelling Abroad by Welrez(op): 3:00pm On Oct 14, 2018
The federal government has included a dead person on its list of Nigerians banned from travelling abroad.

On Saturday, Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, announced that at least 50 Nigerians being probed for alleged corruption have been banned from leaving the country.

He had said the action was to the effect of the executive order six recently signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

But — you wouldn’t believe — among these Nigerians placed on the watch list seen by The Nation — is Innocent Umezulike, former chief judge of Enugu state who has been deceased since June.

Interestingly, Umezulike passed away even before the executive order in question was signed by the president in July.

The late judge, who was arraigned in 2017 for alleged corruption, was laid to rest in September.

The federal government had committed a similar gaffe in December when it appointed five — not one or two — dead persons into various boards of government agencies and parastatals.

PoliticsPeter Obi: South East Governors, Leaders Meeting Deadlocked by Welrez(op): 6:01am On Oct 14, 2018
A meeting of leaders of the South-east in Enugu has ended in deadlock, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.

The meeting was hastily convened on Saturday following the announcement of ex-governor Peter Obi of Anambra State as the running mate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday

The meeting had in attendance PDP governors and legislators from the South-east and other eminent members of the party from the zone.

Held at the Enugu home of Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, the meeting ended without any resolution regarding the nomination of Mr Obi.

In attendance were governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, David Umahi and Okezie Ikpeazu of Enugu, Ebonyi, and Abia states respectively.

After more than one hour of deliberations, they did not reject or accept Mr Obi’s nomination.

Briefing reporters on the outcome, Mr Umahi said the leaders of the zone were not consulted before the said nomination.

Mr Umahi, who is also the chairman of the South-east Governors Forum, said Mr Abubakar would meet with South-east leaders over the choice of his running mate.

The governor said the meeting of South-east PDP stakeholders was to brainstorm on the choice of the former governor of Anambra State as Mr Abubakar’s running mate.

He said both PDP governors in the zone and other stakeholders were shocked over the news of a vice presidential slot given to Ndigbo whereas no formal notice to that effect was given.

Mr Umahi said Mr Abubakar sent in a message during their meeting informing them that he was out of the country for a short period.

He said he pleaded with them to remain calm that he would be coming down to the zone to dialogue with the leaders.

“We saw news flying up and down saying that our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has picked a running mate from the zone,” Mr Umahi said.

“We were shocked because we were not consulted. While we were meeting, Atiku sent message that he travelled out of the country for a short period. He promised to come down and meet with South-east leaders.”

The Zonal Vice chairman of PDP, Augustine Umahi, said the leaders of the party in the zone saw the news of Mr Obi’s nomination as the PDP’s running mate on social media.

“Our leaders are saying that we are not yet aware that such a thing (Obi’s appointment) happened.

“We have gotten in touch him (Atiku), he is traveling tonight and he promised that when comes back we shall meet in that.

“Peter Obi is our son, and is from South-east, we are not rejecting or accepting him but we are saying is that we are not aware, you cannot shave a man in his absence,” he said.

The screen grab shows the tweets sent by a handle operated by someone claiming to be Peter Obi.

The screen grab shows the account Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation confirmed to be that of former Anambra State governor Peter Obi.

An impostor posing as the former governor of Anambra State Peter Obi has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari shortly after his Twitter account was created.

The person behind the handle @Peter__Obi was quick to point that social media was not “his thing” in order to sound genuine.

“I have decided to join twitter since it expands the possibilities of engagement. I hope to receive a warm welcome. Together we will #Atikulate and get Nigeria working again,” the impostor tweeted.

“Social media is not really my thing, but I will try my best to keep up with you all. For now, let’s continue to #Atikulate. Thank you all for the reception!” he added.

But a source on Atiku campaign team said the handle was not that of Atiku Abubakar’s running mate. The source gave Obi’s handle as @PeterGregoryObi.

A check by The Guardian showed that the account given by the source was created sometime in October has not tweeted at all. The impostor handle was also created in October, most likely after Obi was named as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate.

“You know how social media influencers operate…they just jump on the momentum,” the source said, adding that “the social media team will be directed accordingly.”

The impostor said in one of his tweets that an Atiku Abubakar presidency will not be a “lifeless” one.

United States president Donald Trump reportedly called Buhari “lifeless” shortly after a meeting between the two leaders on April 30, Financial Times said in a report published in August.

Buhari, the first sub-Saharan Africa president to meet Trump since he was sworn in January 2017 as the 45th American president, was in the US for bilateral talks on Trump’s invitation.

That meeting ended with Trump saying he never wanted to meet someone as lifeless as Buhari again, Financial Times reported citing three persons familiar with the matter.
