Eh yah, felt sorry for Clay but i think he had it coming and has probably paid the price for his arrogance. At the beginning he waved off any support and acted like he didnt give a damn about winning or losing then suddenly, nothing else mattered but victory and as he became more desperate for the cash he allowed his game to slide into near oblivion by being too cautious. Sad part was that as his game slid, so did his popularity until he became a near distant memory. Moral of the story; Finish Strong ala Kareeen! Luclay may not have deserved to lose considering who won but he most certainly earned the heartbreak he just suffered. Oh dear, the guy would be thanking God he said something that nice about Karen during the eviction show and hoping Karen keeps her word about sharing some dough! (Lets hope she doesnt watch those highlights b4 deciding how to share the cash cos he just might miss out) How the Mighty have fallen. About Wendall, the lesser said the better so all i can say is Sheet Happens. But wait o, what da hell? How manage? Tufiakwa, God forbid bad thing! Great 3 months, and for u guys that think the show wasnt great, it certainly was for me and i had fun all through which included nearly picking up a query over watching Karen's chat session on monday! All join, afterall if Dele Momodu dey watch and shed tears, what more can i say about a program that defined my 9pm for the better part of 3months. Peace out guys PS; @Fork addict, i know u're prolly scannin thru the posts waitin for your name to be mentioned so u come charging. Permit me to indulge you; you're a jerk! Oya reply o. Lol |
Ok if it makes you sleep better. |
Kobo, Why not do yourself a favour and stop yapping denials? The thread is there to determine who started throwing 'INSULTS'. Your 'Blackbook' is legendary and acknowledged by most on this forum so i dont know who u're seeking to impress by feigning ignorance. |
Gbawe:You're a shameless n disgusting hypocrite. If you've got an eye for Kobo why not grow some balls and tell her directly instead of playing a gutless sanctimonious card like a eunuch with obvious insecurities about his midriff. Kobo sulked for 6 frigging months during which my posts and threads were blacklisted and the most she did was resort to innuendos over an argument and my point (which obviously went straight thru her head) was that if she was going to be a fussy lady she should'nt resort to jibes, but i obviously wasnt counting on Captain Ijebu to come to the rescue of his damsel. A closet bigot calling me a male chauvinist! Abeg comot for my front make i see road jare, Suwegbe like you. Gbawe:You're a shameless n disgusting hypocrite. owobokiri:The Benin - Onitsha road is a dual expressroad in good condition just as the Benin - Warri road which is in perfect condition. So what's your point? Kobojunkie:Since you've been the one throwing all the insults i guess this is a tacit admission of your brain-dead status right? |
<quote> @topic, If the project is built by private investors, they will also manage the recurring maintenance -repair, rest facilities, restaurant stands, auto repair stands, etc. How would a venture investment on that scale generate revenue to cover cost on the road? One I can think of is toll gates, several of them at intervals of maybe 100km or so. In addition, rent from business stands and toll from rest facility usage. There will be too many problems for the financier to recover money. The govt should build the road and outsource the maintenance to private investors. That's a better option.
I completely disagree. You're reasoning like a typical Nigerian banker that expects to break even in a year and start rolling in profits by the second year. These r long term projects that may only start bearing fruits in the long term hence the need for long term financing which unfortunately our local banks can not provide. China on the other hand has got trillions of dollars sitting idle in shaky US bonds and she desperately needs somewhere viable to invest for the long term and i think Nigeria is a perfect place so why should we deny them when our govt is way over its head with responsibilities? All we have to do is set the standards and rules and allow those that are willing to do the hard work and reap the benefits simple. Funny u'lld question the viability of one of the busiest roads in the country. @Kobojunkie, I'll pretend i didnt see your jargon this time. |
Kobojunkie:He meant challenges like regular maintenance, provision of emergency services, lighting and others. Why dont you respect your gender and comment on things you're informed about instead of displaying this kind of embarrassing stark ignorance? |
otokx:Nothing happened because the road was conceded to Babalakin's bicourtney which apparently was not deemed to be credit worthy by Nigerian banks. I just hope the FG have learnt from that experience and are trying not to make same mistake with this one. |
@Ibime Who is your tirade directed at? I thought there was a thread for you and your likes to spew your endless BS on? Why move over just to demonstrate your head is full of unending sheet? Is the ministry of works and housing without a functional address? Why not drop them a mail or better still make your comments on GEJ's FB page instead of putting off others with your never ending hypocritical rants. Rubbish |
Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, indicated weekend that the federal government had concluded arrangement to concession the Sagamu-Benin express road to capable private investors. He said studies had shown that the challenges faced on the road would be better tackled through a public-private partnership. The minister made the disclosure in Abuja while playing host to the vice president of China-Africa Development Fund, Mr. Hu Zhirong. Onolememensaid: "The Federal Ministry of Works has concluded all feasibility, traffic and outline design analyses on that road and we are clear on collaborating with any discerning private sector (investor) as that road is economically viable for interested investors like you. “We are at the point of advertising for the expression of interest, as we are at the conclusion stage of concessioning that road, which we know is economically viable.” The minister said the federal government attached much importance to the delegation from China because of its resolve to drive the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan through PPP model. "Wehave decided to accept your visitation because we believe that the best way to drive infrastructural development in this country is as outlined by the present administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan regarding our road. “We believe, too, that there is a huge market in this country even as it relates to infrastructural development because as a ministry we have done a lot of feasibility studies and we can say with very high level of certainty that most of our roads are economically viable, which means for a discerning investor that it is the right place to put your money,” the minister said. According to him the federal government is willing to concession the road to CADF as they have shown interest in financing the road project, but the process must go through the Public Procurement Act. In his remarks, Zhirong stated that the purpose of thevisit was to explore ways CADF could assist Nigeria in the area of road construction and maintenance using the PPP model of the Build Operate and Transfer. He said CADF was willing to invest part of its US$5 billion facility, made available by the Chinese government, in assisting African nations with infrastructural challenges. thisdaylive.com/articles/fg-seeks-concessionaire-for-sagamu-benin-road/96015/ |
fork adict:Hehehehe, you seemed to have calmed down a bit. I was expecting you to come charging like a deranged bull like u always did. It just doesnt sound like u without the curses and obscenities, what gives? Anyway my point was that its gettin too boring reading YOUR OWN opinion(we already know what u think) you could try pasting those of others like i did with Dele's. |
^^^ You're beginning to sound like a broken record. The show ends in a matter of hours so when will u finally understand that no one really cares about what you think of Karen? It used to be interesting reading a contrary view but now its simply irritating. I stumbled on this back page write up on THISDAY newspaper by Dele Momodu, here are excerpts full piece is on thisdaylive.com/articles/the-karenplification-of-africa/95964/ , . . . , As head of house, she had the privilege of replacing herself with one of the housemates but she chose to maintain her nomination. Many of her fans got angry that she had taken a silly gamble, but this singular act won her fans and fame across Africa. I knew of a Ghanaian woman in her 70s who cried endlessly for Karen’s rare display of love for even her detractors. I had my own stint at weeping last Monday as Karen took the invisible Big Brother and her captive audience down the memory lane of her tortuous journey through life. I listened to every word she uttered and watched every one of her powerful delivery. Nothing escaped me. As I released torrents of tears, I phoned a friend who told me that I have good company in his house. His Ghanaian wife and mother-in-law were crying theireyes tearless and his wife had just succeeded in ruining her fresh makeup as she was on her way to work. The Karen story was a spellbinder. I was mesmerised by the story of her beleaguered childhood. It was a stuff of thriller. She did not know her father. Her 45-year- old mother who happens to be her role-model was a gangster according to her and she had to live with her grand-mum. She did not really know her father and till this day she’s very bitter about him. For the first time, she spoke about how she was in a marriage for five difficult years for the wrong reasons and decided to quit for the right reasons. She had to take to doing this and that while in Europe. She was a strip-dancer and some of her Unclad pictures litter the internet. What moredo you want to say or write about a child the world had already written off as nobody? I was always angry at Karen anytime she dramatized her madness and behaved like someone totally possessed. But there lies the beginning of Karen’s story as a metaphor. Hers is a taleof nothing is impossible. There is a lot we can achieve as human beings if doors and windows of opportunities are opened to us. The lesson in this saga is that by the time tomorrow comes one of Africa’s supposed gangsters, Karen, would have become one of the biggest superstars on the continent. She would be crowned not because she’s the best role model in the house, but because there is a greater testimonyto be derived from this quintessential grass to grace experience. Her mother would have to pray and fast for her. It is not always easy to exorcise the demons of street-life. She must conquer her biggest enemy and that is alcohol. I’m perpetually troubled once Karen starts drinking. She is always going bananas. May God redeemthis young girl and keep her safe till tomorrow when her life must definitely change for better or for worse. |
^^^ I'm pretty certain anyone that is yet to see any merit in the bill has only deliberately chosen not to. Perhaps its the usual Gej effect playing out on you guys. Why not pretend the bill was sent in by say Wole Soyinka or better still, your idol Buhari, I'm sure u'll begin to see some of the positives. Just give it a try cos i'm also certain a man that was chosen by an overwhelming majority to lead a country of a 150m people wld not send a completely worthless bill to the legislature. |
Sometimes you have to wonder what is wrong with Nigerians. Why are you all congregating like vultures to feast on a non existent carcass? Below is an excerpt of the statement released by Abati 'The ENVISAGED Bill is part of the Jonathan administration’s transformation agenda aimed at sanitizing the nation’s politics. The President believes that this single move, when actualized, will change the face of our politics and accelerate the overall development of our nation. If the proposed amendment is accepted by the National Assembly, the President assures that he will not in any way be a beneficiary. To form a mental picture of something. Honestly, i do not know what you guys are going off about. He just said the original idea was not his and in any case the bill is not ready so what am i missing? |
Gbawe:Lol, and since when did becoming a good follower of ACN become an attribute? Oturugbeke, see dedicated follower. That u even think an objective criticism of a party obviously in a hurry to be senseless opposition party is bellied by sinister motives speaks volumes about you. Remember i told u u were gettin paranoid didnt i? It's obvious most of your criticisms are preconceived and do not necessarily have anything to do wit the merits or otherwise of this PROPOSED bill just like your heroes at ACN. Is this how u guys are going to build the nation and your party? How about objective criticisms and not poorly thought out tirades that exposes your desperation to be what you imagine yourselves to be? How about not acting on impulse just to impress the naive? @Mikeansy, The bill is about tenure elongation and the benefits are inherent in the elongation itself so i do not know what u mean by separating the components. I'm sure if u try u'll recognise a few merits of the bill but if u still cant see any, then its obvious u do not want to. Gej didnt deny the bill, but only said the idea wasnt originally his as it arose from a stakeholders meeting a couple of years ago. Moreover he said he'lld definitely consult widely before presenting the bill to the National Assembly. |
You guys r just being overly cynical. I'm yet to read any real constructive criticism so far and its unfortunate that none of you is willing to consider the flip side of something you've expended so much energy criticizing. The bill has got merits and demerits and if all you guys see are the demerits, then its most unfortunate. |
Gbawe:Just the onset of Paranoia, i'm sure its nothing too serious at least for now. Watch it though. |
StarBoard:Pls lets be reasonable. There's a learning curve everyone has got to pass through therefor regardless of whether or not u've been leading aliens in the moon or how well thought out your plans are, you've got to overcome the learning process to be of any use and this is more so in a society like ours where the rules depend on the player. Now most agree that that curve takes the better part of 2years and by the third year elections are already in the horizon, so what's your solution? Lets rise above our collective cynicism and objectively weigh the merits and demerits of the bill before throwing it aside. |
^Feed that crap to dogs!.
Oya open your mouth! Kobojunkie:Most of the criticisms this bill has faced arise from the fact that it is seen as a tenure elongation bill, but what if its not? The other is about the timing which i think could have been better but well, its here now so lets deal with it. Most observers agree that 4years is too short a time for effective governance so why cant we do something about it? What is wrong with reducing an inevitable 4yr circle of violence by 2years and reducing the need for an expensive electoral process like we have? There's the talk about having the likes of Ohakim and Akala in power for 6yrs - well, that wld be up to us wont it? but if we've got real fears then we should be calling for the removal of the immunity clause for all beneficiaries instead of throwing out the bill without consideration. The bill may not be perfect as it is but it can be tinkered to become better and I expect a good opposition party to weigh the pros and cons b4 coming out with constructive criticisms instead of echoing the voices of the uninformed in the name of being an opposition party. We deserve better - Yes, even from an opposition party! |
Frigging hypocrites seeking to do no more than impress their band of followers by mounting a moral highhorse they r unworthy of saddling. Gej made it absolutely clear that if the bill is passed, he will not in any way be a beneficiary so what's all the fuss about? If Tinubu and his band are not convinced, they should simply ask for clarification and assurances instead of shouting themselves hoarse in the name of being a gutless opposition that only find their voice when they ought to shut their traps. There are two sides to everything and while i have my reservations about the timing, the merits of this bill far outweigh the demerits and if the fear of the opposition is that the President is seeking to elongate his tenure, then they should compel him to include a clause that excludes him from benefitting instead of making dumb accusations. The worse we can do is to throw away the baby with the bath water. stead of making dumb accusations. The worse we can do is to throw away the baby with the bath water. |
collinsfbi:Like i said, i'm already through with my application process and i'm just waiting for a response. I was told my admission wld be at the discretion of the faculty for certain reasons , i'm employed and it so happens that i'll be in SA in the coming year and i wanted to use the opportunity to run an Msc prog. I do not want to miss out on the admission so i'm considering backing up my initial application but dont have enough info aside the scanty ones i've gathered online. If u know enough about the school pls send a blank mail to my box so i can send in my query. Thanks @OP, Sorry but your enquiries r much too technical for meial application but dont have enough info aside the scanty ones i've gathered online. ^^^ I'm not actually going there seeking for a job, i've got that aspect pretty much settled and whatever the case, i'll be in the country next year. The admission at Stell is stalling somewhat and i'm thinking of applying somewhere else before all the doors slam shut. The Stell process was straight forward as everything was online and is my first choice but i dont want to risk missing out alltogether. |
I guess the only way one can work as a student wld be parttime which allows for about 20hrs in a week and fulltime in between semesters for those carrying a STUDY VISA. @Collins, i'm heading for *** (not concluded yet though) and would appreciate some first hand info so if u dont mind, i'll appreciate the contact of your pal that's already out there. If its ok by u pls mail it to ***. Thanks |
No need to fight guys, i'm due in SA at the end of the year and i'm using the opportunity to run a prog at one of their uni's so i'm really curious about answers to the other part of the OP's question though i'm a bit certain one cant work fulltime with a visitors visa while a study permit has restrictions on hours of work allowed. So does anyone know better? |
Collins is right, the evaluation from SAQA is not a prerequisite for admission - at least not in all schools. It is compulsory for certain schools like Wits and i think UCT but other schools like Stellenbosch and Rhodes which are also top schools do not make it compulsory. @OP, admission is still open in a number of those schools so dont shut your doors just yet. |
lagcity:Opinions are changing and views hitherto held as dogmas are being questioned and some (at least from my encounters) are beginning to recognize and admit the failures and shortcomings of even some of our most iconic leaders, so pls show some respect when u talk about an entire people. Generalizing wld be equal to assuming all SWners act like your annoying roach called Ileke. |
@fork addict You funny sha. Karen as minisiterial wetin? Lol. I just watched her chat session and she openly admitted to masturbating when asked what was the stupiddest thing she had done in the house, she said 'i'm human and i'll get Hot, it was stupid but worth it! Lol And the shocker, she just revealed she was married for 5 years, 'i got married for the wrong reason and divorced for the right reason' she said she wouldnt tell us why cos it might affect, now does that sound like someone that gives a hoot about being a ministerial nominee? Abeg talk another thing. |
EzeUche:Pls shut it. I'll not be judged by a hypocrite. For the record I justified nothing other than point out that an Igbo coup (deny it all you like) was bound to trigger a COUNTER COUP esp when our own political leaders where left unharmed and we as a people wld have responded if same had been done to us. Of course u and your band of supremacists are skilled in the use of sophistry to obscure the truth so naturally that equates to justifying the death of hundreds of thousands in your water filled skulls. |
blah, blah, blah. why not factor in who and of what ethnic group, killed those premiers or top persons from the other region. Why not ask yourself why the counter-coup failed in the East just like the original coup did?
They were killed in C K Nzeogwu's coup, does it matter who pulled the trigger? And if your argument is that Nzeogwu isnt Igbo, then neither are you. I was in JS 2 when I read Capt Ben Gbulie's Nigeria's 5 Majors and even then i knew the excuse for not harming Eastern leaders were at best escapist so if u're going to give an excuse like 'we could not harm him cos he had a visitor from Cyprus(not even J F Kennedy!), you'd better look for someone daft enough to buy it. |
^^^ bla, bla, bla. Why not factor in Zik, Michael Okpara, Akanu Ibiam and Ojukwu being killed in one swoop then come here and tell me about 'safe passage' for the perpetrators. |
