Folks i'm still despairing here and really wish someone can bail me out. Here's my question and an initial response;

Hey guys, sorry to sound a bit off key here but i
need urgent information from someone better
informed.
A friend of mine is considering going over to
Canada for her masters and since she's missed
out of the January session, she's desperately after
admission for the summer session (may-june
2012) thanks to advice from agents who say its
possible. I dont know much about Canadian
admission myself but i was strongly opposed to
paying 80k to an agent for whatever reason.
having googled and googled, i'm beginning to
think maybe paying the money isnt a bad idea
afterall. So pls does anyone know if its all a wild
goose chase or if truly there are schools out there
still accepting applications for summer session
2012. The few i came across only have few
programs open during summer, She's a
chartered accountant, made a 2.1 and is
considering a biz/finance course.
gel01
May-June session is not a common start date for
a masters program but give me some time to do
some research for you. u dont need to pay any
agent to apply for admission on your behalf ok.
So does anyone have an answer? ANYBODY? Please

As usual, you've allowed your emotions and ultradefensive stance as well as your arrogated responsibility to your ethnic group to cloud your judgement. MM is not celebrated today as a hero because of his war 'heroics', There are no celebrated heroes of the civil war in Nigeria today because we all accepted the episode as unfortunate and buried most of the details in the spirit of national reconciliation. If we were to pick national icons based on the war, the likes of Black scorpion would have monuments in their names and 'Ojukwu' would be a slur! Quit the mischief.n their names and 'Ojukwu' would be a slur! Quit the mischief.

Maybe 'Dialogue' is a safer term to use than 'Negotiation' and No Obj has not made any mistake in getting BH to reveal their hand like no one expected. At least now we can begin to ask questions like 'who really is in charge'. It would be ungracious not to appreciate the effort of the ex president, successful or not, ego trip or not at least he's done something that could have gone either way.
Politics › Re: Boko Haram: Why Obasanjo Visited Mohammed Yusuf’s Family by wesley80(m): 4:08am On Sep 18, 2011
Like I said, if there's one in a million chances of ending this on a table, its worth taking. The question of sincerity does not arise until we've exhausted all avenues to peace but we've only just began. This is not the time to trade blames either, there's a problem at hand and its on all of us regardless of who started it. Permit me to draw this analogy, BH is like a tsetse fly perched on a mans scrotu-m, you just cant crush it cos u hate it, You've got to find the subtlest means to get it off and crushing is only the very last of resorts and even then the consequences could be grave. So let Obj do what he can and let Gej explore all options available, its our collective sac on the line here!
Politics › Re: Boko Haram: Why Obasanjo Visited Mohammed Yusuf’s Family by wesley80(m): 2:52am On Sep 18, 2011
If there's just 1 in a million chance of ending this on the negotiation table, then it's a chance worth taking. You guys really need to face the reality of what's staring us all in the face here, the almighty US have been battling for over a decade in Afghanistan and with billions of dollars and thousands of lives gone, victory is no closer than it was in 2001 and even they are now dangling carrots. Forget the rhetoric, the slogan is now 'Do what you must'. Obj should be commended and shame on the so called Northern elites. Friggin cowards!

His govt also actively and consciously sidelined the entire South East, he sort of started the exclusion of Igbo's from the inner circle as evidenced by his choice of SMC and GOC's. He blew the first real chance of consumating Gowon's reconciliation venture and from then on it became National policy.

You prolly had too much 'nmanu' in your ewa agoyin as usual so its no surprise oral dumbfoolery is your favoured vent. If your reasoning head wasnt so badly muffled with congealed palm oil i'm sure you'd be curious to ask why the president of a huge company as Hyundai nodded in agreement with all the assertions thrown at him when he was not fed briskly boiling water like the proverbial lizard such that lent credence to a report carried in the international press. A walk in the sun might just be what you need.
Politics › Re: Murtala Muhammad's Face And Name Should Be Removed From Naira And Airport by wesley80(m): 1:37am On Sep 18, 2011
No doubt MM doesnt deserve a honourable place in our history but that completely depends on the side one chooses to look from as he's seen as a war hero and his crimes are conveniently shielded as they were done 'in the interest of the nation' just like those commited by his military contemporaries, massacre or no massacre, afterall the perpetrators of the Asaba massacre justified their action and bluntly refused to apologise during the Oputa panel and I'm yet to see them take to the stands in the Hague.
Truth is we buried a whole load of things at the end of the war and opening them up will do no one no good. Crimes were commited on both sides In varying degrees and you cant open one and leave the others cos it suits you. Some of us ended up as victims of a war we knew nothing about but we chose to forget cos it was the only way to heal our mostly self inflicted wounds and Like Shakespeare said;
'To mourn a mischief that is past and gone is a sure way to draw new mischief on' Let sleeping dogs lie.

The questing is, Why is the president of Nigeria doing den say den say? What happened to the golden word in diplomacy *Clarification*

Obviously, the man never asserted any plan to GEJ directly so why did GEJ attributed his lies to the man, why not attribute it to the goon from bayelsa and the yeye consultant?

Unfortunately for GEJ and his 419 move,  he can not fool people all the time. They need to send odechukwu to international school of diplomacy.

What an ediot, How wicked can people be, was in Benin a couple of days ago and that city has been completely transformed and for the first time since i've known that city, I can boldly tell u Benin can rival any modern city in Nigeria. I also sampled ordinary opinions on the day of the incident and all i heard were praises for the governor but some morons are here arguing about constitutionality of an arrest! SMH. Why blame the governor for the manner the major was bundled and the the conduct of the police? The major is a victim of a system he exploited himself and its only fair that he gets a taste of it so you guys can shut your silly traps and pick on GEJ.
Imagine a foool (@mitoFAG) coming here to say 'most home based Nigerians have low comprehensive abilities'? What a senseless hog!

The OP has always been an Oshiomhole hater so i'm not surprised at his comments but the way others have tagged along without asking questions like herded sheeps speaks volumes. What kind of courtesy should be extended to someone that rolls in bulldozers to destroy peoples homes for no reason? And for your information He only ordered his arrest and if anyone is unhappy with the manner he was bundled by the police, the issue should be taking up with the IG abi na governor dey train police? Here's a link to the true story for those interested in hearing the truth.

@Bawss,
I'm not blaming the US but only responding to an assertion by the ambassador that crude theft is a Nigerian problem that should be handled by Nigeria. In a volatile mkt as the crude mkt that constantly swings to the tune of the forces of demand and supply, you'd find it impossible to prove the US doesnt benefit from crude theft. We are talking abt 200k barrels a day here! To put it in context, Countries like Ghana, Uganda and Sleone are celebrated as oil producing countries for producing much less than that.
There is an army of people willing to risk their lives in stealing crude and all they get is a fraction of the pay, the big players are those operating the huge tankers and thats why I maintain that any true solution has to be curbing the demand, and who better to assist in doing that? So why wont they? Its a Nigerian problem? Yeah right!

Politics › Re: Wikileaks Names Ex-first Lady, Others As Oil Thieves by wesley80(m): 12:58pm On Sep 07, 2011
@Myjoe,
Good points - perhaps.

MyJoe:
No, the US government does not have the wherewithal to end this overnight. You made a comparison with the drug problem - has the US government been able to solve that one? No. They commit a lot of resources to that war yet it is still there. If they add this one to their plate they will have to commit a lot of resources to it and since it doesn't score high on their of order of national priorities, why should they do for Nigeria?
Yes the US govt can end illegal bunkery overnight if it wants to, crude oil is not stuff you can conceal or ask a fisherman to smuggle in on your behalf (we r talking abt 100,000 to 200000 barrels here) so you really cant draw parallels with the drugs trade. The problem is there is a thriving mkt for illegal crude and the West is happy to see it thrive because it suits them and like u said, "it doesn't score high on their order of national priorities" (why should it) How long did it take to label certain diamonds as "conflict diamonds" and block their trade? How long did it take for the US to send in the FBI to assist in BH investigations? Why is bunkery the one issue that is a local problem that should be tackled solely by Nigeria? I'm sure u've never been to the creeks of the Niger Delta else u wld understand it is "virtually impossible" for our ill equipped military to police those pipelines without hi-tech equipments. The only solution that I can see is blocking the demand and if u say the US cant do that then i wonder who u think can.

Politics › Re: Wikileaks Names Ex-first Lady, Others As Oil Thieves by wesley80(m): 11:43am On Sep 07, 2011
MyJoe:
So in your view the Americans should send troops to tackle this or send our government money the way they send to the Colombian and Mexican and governments to fight drugs. And if you were the US government you would place this on the same scale as the illegal drugs being peddled on American streets and destroying the lives of that country's young people. Interesting.
I'm sure you read this part of the cable;

koruji:
The diplomats who filed the cables wrote that though government officials had repeatedly requested U.S. assistance to prevent bunkering, it was a problem that Nigeria could and should solve.
The US govt has the wherewithal to stop the bunkering overnight but Nigeria does not (lets agree for the sake of simplicity that the will isnt there), all it takes is to cut the demand end by putting some of those bunkering tankers out of biz and the problem is solved, but why wont they do so even after - by their own admission- the Nigerian govt had requested for assistance several times? You think its because they think its a Nigerian problem? well so is Boko Haram and so are the drug cartels in Latin America.
Politics › Re: Wikileaks Names Ex-first Lady, Others As Oil Thieves by wesley80(m): 6:46am On Sep 07, 2011
American hypocrisy staring us in the face once again. So 'bunkering' is a Nigerian problem that should be solved by Nigeria? They forgot to tell us just how much of those illegal oil finds its way into the US and its effect on a benefitting economy. These guys are just happy to sitback and watch the illegal oil flow because they benefit from it yet here they are trying to justify their inaction by saying its a 'Nigerian problem' like they arent sending troops and Feds into Mexico and Colombia to battle drug cartels.

I see absolutely nothing wrong in calling for caution in supporting a candidate that could turn out to have badly soiled his fingers. Soludo always gave the impression that all banks in the country were solid thanks to his recapitalization exercise while he was secretly granting them huge loans, so what is wrong in calling for caution in endorsing such a candidate at least until investigations were concluded? Nothing IMO. Sanusi is a brave man and should be commended, he didnt mince words in calling Yakubu corrupt and Babalola weak and i'm sure if he had enough ammo to call Soludo corrupt, he would have done so without hesitation.

Politics › Re: Nigerians Are Idiots Ruled By Fools! by wesley80(m): 12:54pm On Sep 01, 2011
Good rant but unfortunately, terribly insincere. You can not put the blame squarely on the PDP since the days of OBJ while absolving the likes Buhari from any blame simply because u were once his running mate. You can not blame the PDP for the problems of Nigeria while ignoring the contribution of Nigerians, Nigerians are the culprits and Nigeria is the victim, Nigeria today is what we've Moulded out from the clay we were given by the British. 'Destroy this house' and replace it with what if i may ask? A while back everyone was taking shots at the Legislative arm of govt over their huge wages but with new elections and the influx of exalted ACN members, I and most folks expected a radical change, a rejection of such outrageous pay and an expose of the unnecessary affluence in the legislature by the revered ACN members, we are still waiting and we'll probably continue waiting.
The problem of Nigeria transcends beyond a party or a crop of leaders, it's in the psyche of the Nigerian, its in how we perceive govt and what we make of governance. The focus of any sincere critic should be on the institutions that reinforce good governance and encourage responsibility not taking shots at an individual. Is Jonathan your state governor? Is he your LG chairman or your legislator? How well are they doing? All these meretricious diatribes will get us nowhere.
