Despite the deafening public out-cry against some recent policy decisions of the CBN Gov, the truth remains that NOn-Interest banking, 150k Withdrawal limit and Steamlining of Banks are the hallmaks of his achievements
Sanusi's major achievement so far has been the restoration of confidence in Nigerian banks, at least now we know which are standing and which are on their knees. There was a time our banks were at the wrong end of unsavory innuendos in the foreign financial press despite gathering accolades from all sorts of bodies. Soludo's monetary policies were impressive but the mere speculation that Nigerian banks were internally troubled nearly brought the entire economy on its knees at the most critical time. Sanusi's policies may not be too popular on the streets but he's achieved the single most important ingredient of a financial mkt - Confidence, the jury's still out on him and its still early days yet. But so far, so good IMO.

But whatever the case, Nairaland will soon become the go-to for policy evaluation discourses in Nigeria, if well managed.
Dont kid yourself, we all know Nairaland and most opinions expressed on this forum are far removed from the reality that is todays Nigeria and wld therefor be nothing but a self delusionary gauge of the opinion of Nigerians. I'm sure the defunct team BB wld agree with me. As for your using the catchphrase 'if well managed', I just have to wonder what an Mod is insinuating.

Properties › Dangote Drops Factory Price Of Cement From N1,500 To 1,350 Per Bag by wesley80(op): 4:43am On Jul 04, 2011
Dangote Cement has crashed the ex-factory price of a 50-kg bag of the product from N1,500 to N1,350.

This is a further step taken by the company after the directive issued by President Goodluck Jonathan in May which forced cement stakeholders to work together to bring down the price of the commodity from about N2,500 to around N1,800 per 50kg bag,

According to the company, “Dangote Cement Plc. has announced a significant reduction in the ex-factory price of its product to N1,350 per bag.”

The company’s Executive Director, in charge of Sales and Marketing, Mr Ekanem Etim, briefing cement distributors at the weekend, said the reduction in its ex-factory price was in line with the company’s declared policy to make the product affordable to Nigerians as it expands its local capacity in the country.

Etim also informed the distributors at the meeting that the country would be self-sufficient in cement production, especially with the inauguration of Ibeshe plant of the company before the end of the year, with an installed capacity of six million metric tonnes of cement per annum. He used the opportunity to mention the price reduction at various depots in different parts of the country.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/dangote-crashes-cement-price-to-n1-350/94408/

I understand its the 'factory price' but no doubt it wld significantly reduce the retail price to between 1,500-1,600. I'm sure this is happening because of Dangote's magnanimity and GEJ's directive had absolutely nothing to do with this, afterall his policies are supposed to make us all worse off abi?

^^^ Here's what I think,
The eviction/nomination are sacrosanct so somehow there has to be one, so Biggie might use this opportunity to get back at troublesome housemates and those that have defied him openly maybe just to appease those that think he's been too lenient, so those likely to be up wld be; Luclay, Karen, Alex and Mumba. Just a thot sha, at least thats what I'd do if I were Biggie except that I'lld be risking killing the show if Luclay n Karen get evicted as well as turning the girls into Lesbos if both guys get evicted. Like I said, Just a thot sha.

Hmmm, was watching the Big brother highlights show today and guess which one they chose to show again? U guessed right, it was a repeat of yesterdays shameless anti-Karen propaganda! Someone said they prolly made a mistake but i just laughed. If this were say NTA, or AIT (Hallmarks of broadcasting incompetence) then i might have agreed but it wasnt. This is biggie's propaganda machine at work. When Lerato got struck last time, there was an outcry from women activists in SA forcing bb to expel the offender and i think bb learnt his lesson and chose to go on the offensive this time. And what better way to do so than to portray Karen as the agressor to her home audience? Clever i'd say. Just a thot sha, i'm actually over the incident - well, sort of!

@Akainzo,

So what makes u think those 'standards and values' can only be set by the presidency? What if the senate and other institutions start doing something too and you and I start picking on other institution that are supposed to reinforce the executive instead of throwing cheap shots at the presidency?

BTW, I do not understand how a SR article qualifies anyone to be called a crook cos like i said, a number of d nominees have question marks on them and i do not need a SR special to realize that but what matters is whether or not their question mark exceeds a certain threshold. Haliru's nomination may not be best, but it might be expedient politically or otherwise.

Those of you calling for justice, becareful because if you watched the highlights on Channel 114 (AfricaMagic) yesterday night and saw the way they carefully packaged the whole scenario to show us viewers that Karen invited whatever she got,
[/b][/i]' cool cool cool cool
I was left aghast at the highlights shown yesterday! The whole show was a complete mockery of Karen and one wld have to be extra patriotic not to feel Karen got what she was asking for based on those highlights. Biggie's (or whoever) hypocrisy just stank to the high heavens, he forgot it never is about the provocation but the response just as it was during Lotus' fight with Luclay. Even though Luclay was provocative to the point of earning a slap, Lotus had to be disqualified cos she crossed the line but now Biggie wants his viewers to accept Luclay's action simply because Karen acted provocatively, what nonsense! Anyway, now we know what we r up against - biggie himsel so brace yourselves!
I was also mighty impressed by Mumba, even when she was told to get lost by Karen remained persistent until she doused the flames, not even the hipopotamus HOH could do anything but watch all thru. My hand go touch them one by one.
Politics › Re: Jonathan Nominates Siemens Bribe Taker, Haliru Bello Mohammed, For Minister by wesley80(m): 9:16am On Jun 24, 2011
All the nominees are to be SCREENED by both the SSS and Senate before they become ministers. There's a reason they have to be SCREENED and there's a reason SCREENING is mandatory And that's because the President sometimes has to make nominations based on recommendations therefor these bodies have to do the background checks in the interest of the nation.
There r no saints in govt and Gej wld be a foool to be seeking to assemble a cabinet of saints. Even those nominees we seem to be down with today, the Iweala's, Ezekwesili's and Soludo's still have different levels of question marks hanging around their heads from their previous govt engagements but most importantly there's a threshold that one wld have to surpass to be considered unfit for public office and apart from the little matter of being CONVICTED for a felony, the SSS and the Senate wld have to do their jobs afterall thats what they r paid to do. If the nominee scales these hurdles when u're sure of his unfitness for office, then the names u should be shouting should be those of the SSS director and David Marks.

So, therefore she needs to calm the 4uck down. Go to the bigbrother website and watch the clips again. KAREN didn't DESERVE what she got, but She did ASK for it--And it was given to her on a platter of gold. Let's be real here abeg. I LOVE KAREN too. She's my babe. But still, call a spade a spade.  The babe should cool down.

U cant xpect to be coherent when u r speaking from both sides of yr mouth. You cant say Karen didnt DESERVE what she got when u maintain that that was exactly what she asked for. How can u give such a flimsy excuse as 'She was asking for it' to justify such a despicable act?

Lets say u got into a fight with a guy in your office and u were so hotheaded that u gave him a dirty slap, well as a guy with his pride to protect, he returns the favour not with a slap but with punches and uppercuts like he was in a street fight with Mike Tyson leaving u battered. So wld u justify the guys action this time by saying; I was asking for it? A yes from u wldnt suprise me one bit but wld rather justify your warped sense of reasoning but shame on u if you say no cos that's exactly what Luclay did. Luclay's action was disturbing and demeaning and should not be excused by anyone thinking correctly.
