Guess if its not yielding billions in a matter of months, then its not good enough for our local investors. |
Babalakin blamed politics and inability of Nigerian banks to provide fund for the slow pace of the project.http://thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/12674-lagos-ibadan-expressway-god-will-subdue-forces-against-completion-says-adeboye.html |
*** What part of "shut it" do u not understand? |
Capitalism, Karl Marx aptly described it as the highest level of Imperialism and the reasons r obvious. Capitalism is ultimately self serving and self sustaining and can be likened to a sweet toothed greedy overgrown baby sitting on a huge can of chocolates, he'lld never let anyone else have a taste until he's so full that he's puking! Capitalism is a huge monster being unleashed in every economy and it can only serve itself and its masters. No matter how coloured, its objectives r always the same. Unfortunately, the right people r not the ones asking the right questions, policy makers are content to see a fat obese baby sitting on a can and the baby's well being is passed off as the economy's success, the already brainwashed economic press see nothing more than the deceptively encouraging economic aggregates which they feed to the public who inturn look at the skies with optimism of an elusive better tomorrow and what u have is a complete vicious circle of ignorance and self delusion that plays straight into the hands of conglomerates and other well positioned individuals. Revolution anybody? |
tashanja:Interesting, I think Hanni looked the best though as she looked perfectly chubby, cuddly and provocatively yummy in her outfit, that girl's one helluva looker! Mumba, yes ugly Mumba also looked very good and particularly lively esp when compared to the usual party livewire Vina. She seemed subdued n i'm not sure if it was down to eviction jitters or the dull DJ. About Zeus, a scene like that wld av to be touching, I think he's been unfairly castigated esp by Vina for using Karen. Its next to impossible not to start feeling something with all the attention he's receiving and i think he's being true to himself and Karen. Very touching. |
Seriously now, one cant help but hope Zeus goes home tomorrow, with Luclay speaking so glowingly about Karen in his chart room session where he picked Karen as his most trusted housemate, i think right now as well as having the Weza effect on Karen, Zeus is just obstructing the friendship we all love to see. Zeus leaving wld kill Karen a little as she's sure going to feel their relationship had something to do with it but the thought of seeing those two entertaining characters together again is too tempting to be ignored. Fingers crossed. |
Moodie:God, I thot I was going to take a breather but some things r just too funny to be ignored, the post above can be likened to a popular joke that pictures a bus full of commuters including a woman with her baby strapped to her back caught in traffic on a hot afternoon and suddenly, the conductor releases a silent one through his wrong end and it turns out to be a very smelly one causing all the commuters to grumble aloud and throw curses on whoever was subjecting them to such a terrible odour, just as the grumbling died down and the conductor was about to heave a sigh, the baby on her mothers back decides to add her voice and with her tiny baby voice she cursed; person wey mess dis mess na devil go solder d person nyash, e no go die better, motor go jam d person b4 e reach where him dey go and na hellfire e go enter straight! And b4 she could add any more, the conductor broke in angrily saying; madam hold dat your pickin o make i no break him neck, wetin sef no be mess i mess? na person i kill? Dude, U've got just 6posts in a thread of 34 pages and u say u r 'out of here'. U dey hear b4? |
larrybabe:Thanks, i'm honoured. |
^^^ Sist, na beg I dey beg O! |
Part of the reason I chose to be on this thread was cos as a follower of the show i couldnt stand the level of hate, bias, negativity and 9ja bashing on other forums so this was always a good place to have a good laugh, vent and criticize without being seen as another overbearing and biased 9ja, so it really is troubling to see the thread degenerate into a yo-mama contest. As someone that seems to have 'stirred the hornet's nest' i accept full responsibitity and for what its worth, i tender my sincere apologies and hope everyone sheaths their buccal swords and move on. |
Hope we are on the same page now.
Considering who else seems to be on that page with u, i think i'll pass! I agree, u win, no more complaints or arguments from me but pls do me a favour, while he's still on your page just calm him down, (throw him a bone -maybe its the frustration with the dogg life - find him a h.o - perhaps its sexual frustration - flash him a tit(no offense) - u'd be surprised at the effect on a pervert) or do whatever it takes as long as u can put a strong leash around his neck. Believe me, u'lld be doing humanity a huge favouround his neck. Believe me, u'lld be doing humanity a huge favour.r. |
houvest:My bad. Sincere apologies, Pls forgive my ignorance. @Ndu N.ama, Hand go touch you. |
^^^ Since u pride yourself in opening of yansh its safe to assume u r one helluva yansh licker aight? BTW I read your post again as u recommended and your frustration seems to be pretty much obvious - A sadistic Biafra hopeful desperately praying for conflict in all regions of the country regardless of the cost to human lives or property all in the hope that the country disintegrates and you have your personal thieving Republic abi? Not a chance, if u want independence, Fight for it abi u dey fear starvation? Who do u expect to do your dirty work for u? Frigging coward, once beaten 4 DECADES SHY! Now which person nyash done open? |
Your own personal experience supports my initial post. The leaders of MEND like Tompolo do not really care about the emancipation of our people in ND, but about emancipating themselves from poverty. Go to Ogoni land today and you’ll still find fellow Nigerians living like animals – this is a disgrace to all Nigerians. Your initial response to my post was imbalanced, I’m sorry to say, because of your prejudice against Northerners. Calm down, reread my initial post, then read your response and you’ll quickly discover that you owe me an apology. Since I’m anticipating that no apology would be forthcoming, I’ll simply call you olodo, in advance and issue a subsequent apology if I'm wrong.
Perhaps u're grossly uninformed or simply just a terrible analyst. MEND as we came to know it was brought together and given political teeth by -as we came to understand- Henry Orkar aka Jomo Gbomo, initially it was nothing but a bunch of home grown freedom fighters, cult and gang leaders and criminals operating independently with differing goals in the ND. While a number of them were genuinely interested in the well being of ND's, others were simply in it for the reward. Over time, a number of the genuine fighters realized they were only being used by Orkar and with their lives and the lives of members of their communities on the line, they reached a settlement that resulted in the training and empowerment of thousands of villagers who hitherto were rotting away in the creeks, earned the respect of oil companies that now GENUINELY view communities as stakeholders and automatically reduced Jomo Gbomo to throwing bombs in Abuja. Now depending on how u choose to look at it, this is a good deal of success for a ragtag army of village boys that had no 'Somali' training. You can sit there and call them names but it wasnt your neck that was on the line was it? and it wasnt your village and her defenceless inhabitants that were being destroyed were they? So how dare u? There was only so much these guys cld achieve and they did ok.My friend, i have nothing against the North and i dont know what part of my comments so deceived you. BTW, you seem to pride yourself in your intelligence but so far there's yet to be a whisk of that coming from u on this thread so pls try n stay focused. |
What I was attempting to do in the post was to open the yansh of MEND’s, the same way I open yours, FACE’s, and other intellectuals who come here and attempt to rewrite history. If MEND is serious about the emancipation of ND, is this not the right time for them to squeeze the government, now that Boko haram has the gov’t on the ropes? Instead of putting the squeeze on the government when the government would rather not deal with additional problems, they’ve remained completely silent. In the meantime our people in the ND remain poor and marginalized, our land remains polluted, and our youths remain unemployed. No one is saying that MEND should use the same strategy as Boko Haram.
There r better ways to convey a message than by sounding ridiculously callous. See how many followers u've made that barely understood what u meant! Any surprise that boko haram are bombing everything on site in the name of followership? Concerning MEND, I think they've moved on. A couple of months ago I was about submitting a bid for a contract in one of the oil majors when a friend in their employ called me out and advised me to consider bidding for something else as i stood absolutely no chance, i asked him why and his answer was straight 4word; Tompolo had also submitted a bid! These guys have been empowered and IMO have achieved something laudable, gone r the days when people in the delta were scorned at when they submitted bids, now they r a force to be respected and a number of them have legions of welders and other artisans under their employment. Some still obtain contracts and sell off, but all in all, its more of a plus than a minus considering these were contracts usually handed out to complete strangers in the past. So tell me, na who go throw the bombs? |
@Tashanja, Ignoring your post for now, as hilarious as it seems, i dont fancy being likened to a potential looser! more to come. BTW, We all know where your sympathy lies.
You know how you get when your favorite preimere league team gets a penalty shot that they don't deserve. Even though you know your team doesn't deserve it, you'll still want to oppose the other team by proving that you're right.
I beg to disagree. Pity u'lld reduce this to an argument tainted by primordial sentiments, but the truth is its not. Most ppl support karen not just cos she's Nigerian or to get on the bandwagon but because there's really no one else in that house worthy of consideration! Without a shred of exaggeration, i can boldly say the show has been between Karen and the rest, so how could u not support her? And to all those that think karen isnt worthy, pls tell me who is, just mention one name. Truth is if karen has been poor in this show, the rest have been totally appalling. Poor is way ahead of appaling isnt it? |
fork adict:Just had to reply to this part. You know what? I've neva seen someone take so much pride in making a foool of himself as u, Tufiakwa gi! So I checked my 'dikko' and here's what i saw; rash - (of people or their actions) acting or done without careful consideration of the possible results. Olodo, the time marking aspect is only contextual. Now considering that u posted a comment that gave u off as a complete dumbo, how far off the mark was i? Take my advice, wait till u attempt your SSCE B4 u come here come dey form champion. As for the rest of your rant, it sure is a part of the job hazard esp with kids on the loose everywhere and i think more than enough has been said already, so i've got noffin more to add. |
@OP And your sick followers; Sometimes, its not that hard to tell some posts on this forum were actually made by humans without their heads intact, or wld a normal human be calling for more carnage with the daily needless bloodletting that's already on? Does this look like a competition to u? Are u guys so dumb u cant understand that its humans like u that r loosing their lives daily? If u guys r so bloodthirsty why not dig your fangs into your mothers and fathers and have your fill? Nonsese. |
THE AMAKA:hmmmm, I wldnt mind Vina going home but I"lld luv to see how paranoid the Zimbos wld get if she survives. And Bernie just might capture the swing votes from countries like Angola, Ethiopia etc dont rule her out yet. Lomwe is also my favorite to go home but, what do i know? |
@f, addict, Now we r beginning to get somewhere. You mean u could manage such a brazen display of self indictment in one post (as someone graciously pointed out) without noticing? How did u get so foolish? ( Probably by residing in the Sexuality/Romance sections i guess). Your talent must not be wasted, you really should consider lecturing eejits! Frankly, i regretted using such a confrontational term in my initial post (as i felt u probably were only playing the Devils Advocate) and wld av modified my post if i wasnt on a low feature mobile device. However i didnt expect such a rash response either from someone that was so quick to term anoda person a 'LovePeddler' for openly expressing an innermost feeling which u unashamedly admit to being addicted to! Its funny how folks like u that r quick to pour venom r always up in arms whenever the favor is returned as if those u target yourselves arent human. Your attitude smacks of sheer hypocrisy and i have absolutely no qualms about my choice of word. This show has been on for more than two months and honestly, i feel irritated everytime the issue still is karen's looks. Its not like she grew new hands in the course of her stay in the house or did she? Finally, just cos u scrounge for a living does not mean everyone else that watches BB does same so u can try a better line than 'how much is she going to pay u'. I do this for fun and i dont mind cos Bros, MY LIFE na him i take pass people wey dey 6feet under so allow me indulge myself. Moving on, i suggest u do same. |
^^^ Nice one. |
This issue is not new in Nigeria, it has always been in the cards but the time for a reasonable debate and possible adoption had not presented itself until now (perhaps). We r always looking at the negatives of every single issue and most times, our emotions precedes our reasoning. Any objective analyst wld agree that there r immense benefits in adopting such a system as the most critical ingredient in a nations development is STABILITY countries like Tunisia, Gambia, Botswana etc r not known for their capable leaders but r investors haven because of their relative stability. We all know how this nation tethers to an edge every election period with each region strongly polarized and our ethno-religious differences laid bare, the wounds barely heal before the next round of elections, so wont an idea to reduce such seasonal conflict by half be welcome? No doubt there r justifiable worries but what we have to do is weigh the costs and benefits without sentiments. BTW, I'm sure Gej knows better than to start such an idea with himself so u can all leave him out of your senseless tirades. |
^^^ Ordinarily, I'lld leave those u mentioned their names to reply your badly flawed analysis but i just cant help adding this; if u think an individual that made an entire show of close to two dozen contestants interesting and watchable doesnt deserve the prize, then u're completely hopeless! |
I think the writer was being mischievous in his article as the entire article is deliberately misleading. On the WES site, the announcement was; 'Pls note that WES does not evaluate academic records from the University of Port Harcourt' So how does the announcement above interpret to WES not accepting credentials from Uniport and the writer panting it to look like it all has to do with the credibility of degrees from the institution? My guess is the body has experienced difficulties verifying credentials from the institution (which happens to be a prerequisite and wld normally require correspondence from between both sides) and decided to place a blanket ban on the institution or something else but definitely not becos of the quality of her graduates. Uniport remains one of the top 10 universities located in a hippie city in a relatively educationally competive and challenging region in a country with more than 60 universities. If gold should rust what about iron? I really cant blame folks for always putting down Ngrn education esp when we've got people like Rhino.5 whose mouths r just too far ahead of their brains! ut definitely not becos of the quality of her graduates. So the "skinny beach" chooses to put up Karens best pal instead, clever i'd say, she expects this to score her some points for being forgiving and kind hearted i guess - very clever, but she cldnt resist the temptation of putting up Karens best pal though so she scores no point IMO. As it is, Karen is already feeling increasingly isolated in that house so imagine how it wld be 4 her without Zeus, Bern and Mumba next week! (Vina is a minus as far as Karen is concerned cos she prefers rubbing shoulders with " normal ppl" and has always kept Karen at arms length) Vimbai is a coy calculating devil - I give her that. |
I think this weeks nominations played straight into the hands of Vimbai, dont know why the girls esp karen and Vina didnt see this coming. Vina is sure going to miss out which i ordinarily wld have no problem with except for the fact that its going to make Vimbai feel very clever and strategic. Vimbai making it to the final wld be a travesty, shes got to feel the anger of the votin public sooner, loosing out in the final wld be a very comfortable soft landing for her dry backside. Damn i'm so gutted! Everywhere one looks in that house now all one seems to see are those boring Headsmates, they've completely taken over the tails house and its unfortunate the tailsmates let them. They all (from Vina to the very last riffraff) feel classy and sophisticated and the pattern of the voting seems to be endorsing their obnoxious behaviour. The show just seems to be getting drier with every eviction, cant believe Alex and Weza r gone and Sharon was saved, its nauseating. |
In terms of reputed brilliance, Sanusi is certainly not in the class of Bernanke, Iweala and even our local champion Soludo, Overhyped? Absolutely not! Every single accolade he's won as CBN governor, he's earned so take nothing away from him and your insinuating that his being made First Bank MD after just 6yrs was down to favoritism is laughable. You really think a PLC with a track record as First banks wld risk placing a mediocre at the helm of its affairs? Remember we r talkin about the MD that is saddled with running the day to day affairs of the org not the Chairman of the Board! About being mediocre, now thats going too far. Sanusi may not have the qualifications of the Bernankes of this world but he certainly knows his onions and in the area of risk management, Favoured or not he succeeded in carving a niche for himself while he was in the banking industry such that he was reputed to be one of the very best in the country so give him some credit. We are always wowed by qualifications and perceptions so i'm not surprised Sanusi is getting bashed so often and most times, his paper qualifications are pointed to as evidence of his ineptitude and his accomplishments scorned at while we just cant wait to roll out the drums for our 'Harvard trained technocrats'. I bet u wld not dare using the word mediocre if he had a Harvard degree under his belt. The job of the CBN Governor of a developing country as ours requires; understanding of what a developing economy entails, strong personal morals and guts to drive u through, if u can prove that Sanusi is lacking any of these then i'll agree he's mediocre. addled with running the day to day affairs of the org not the Chairman of the Board! Well, it was neva an official denial so u cant accuse Gej of insincereity or not keeping his words. It was nothing but an info from a faceless "source" and we all know how authoritative they can be. I have no regrets criticizing the initial report as long as the source was quoted to be SR, fortunately for me though, the news source wasnt SR but Thisday so im still wary of any exclusive coming from SR. |
reindeer:Humble wetin? The point always was to take what was coming from SR with a pinch of salt judging by how much folks have been taking for a ride by their reports in the past. Anyway it turned out the actual source was Thisday and not SR so i dont think they deserve any praise. |
*** If u r talking "tax", then its foolproof, everything including VAT goes to the Feds, even quarrying rights wld have to be gotten from the ministry of mines and steel so there"s no way the state can charge for her resources used up. I do not think the 13% derivatn goes beyond Oil so i guess Ogun has got to be content with taxing personal income and other petty allied services. |
Income tax of registered companies is the exclusive preserve of the Federal govt regardless of location, so your little math is nothing but wishful thinking. If the company is not headquartered in Ogun state, the only income taxable wld be the Personal income of 'Resident workers', which means the state where the headquarter is located eg Lagos wld be the one collecting all Personal income taxes for expatriates!
If my math is correct, using this 12,000 ton figure per day and assuming N1000 per 50 kg bag, this plant will be grossing ~$530 million/year. I don't know the specifics of Ogun State's tax policy, but even if they are only capturing 2% of the gross in taxes, this is $10.6 million/year from this single plant. And with the economic activity in the state, Ogun could easily raise 50 times this amount if Amosun works hard. So I really don't want to hear any complaints from the guy about lack of money.
|
Karen is a CLOWN!!! Imagine a nomination show sweeter than an eviction show! Damn my heart was pounding like i was watching a Nigerian world cup match. |
