The narrated events were tragic and as an Igbo, my heart bleeds. However, what else cld we have expected? If the roles were reversed wld we have done any less? Our guards were down when they ought to be at an all time high so we should blame no one but ourselves. The pertinent question here should be how this same band of bloodthirsty vampires are still pulling the strings in the country today and why there's still no DELIBERATE attempt to correct the lopsidedness in the military 40years after instead of searching for whom to blame for a domino effect that was started by one of our own.

@F addict,
I dont know what your definition of a Nigerian is but I assure u that being loud, having fake bosoms and 'all those other things' do not make Karen any less of a Nigerian esp when compared with Vina. She's just an individual without inhibitions which in some other context wldav been a good thing.
Compare her to Vina who's always quick to embrace the 9ja wey no dey carry last, the 9ja with great music and movies and fly DJ's and all the good stuff but outside that, she wants to be completely British! it took Karen for people to hear her speak Hausa and she spoke it better than a suya selling mallam. During the light out week, the way she expertly used firewood wld tell you she's had enough village experience to make certified village girl Kim look like an apprentice yet she'lld have us believe she's all British and proper. So tell me, what is Nigerian abt someone that's pretending not to be one? And lest i forget, did u see her dressing in the first weeks? Ngbeke na compliment, always pitiable. Thank God for biggie's decibels. Vina kind of reminds me of Gideon of Big brother Nigeria (now in mnets Tinsel) who got into the show on the back of being a resident of Ajegunle but couldnt wait to distance himself from AJ with every opportunity he got. Suddenly, AJ became a slight on his personality because he wanted to be fly and he ended up loosing all the goodwill he had from the public, likewise Vina.
Karen is just a Nigerian girl not acting for the cameras, her openness might make us cringe and embarrss us, but she's being real. Who's going to say he's never met anyone like her b4? Na 9ja i dey and i've seen more than my fair share and i can tell u for a fact that the only difference bw her attitude and what obtains in most campuses where people r free from the prying eyes of the public is that Karen doesnt mind the cameras! Karen is a typical Nigerian girl whether u like it or not FULLSTOP!

Just stumbled on her badmouthing Karen with Lomwe probably in reaction to Karen's spat with Milli and Kim. After rambling on and on she said 'I dont want people out there to think that's how we all are'. Can you imagine? Granted Karen can be very loud and sometimes annoyingly so, but who's this fake accented Vina to think she's the true representation of a Nigerian? Last night Karen called her aside as a countrymate and spent close to 30mins speaking to her n trying to sort out their differences as well as trying to get her to understand their different personalities yet here she is trying to score points off Karen.
Vina is just another Vimbai thankfully humbled by the fact that she isnt pretty nor a moneybag, if she had either of these i bet she'lld never rub shoulders with those she think are below her imagined 'class'.

This is a joke really, there are three senatorial districts in the state and 'Isoko' isnt one of them. The people of Delta North have been patiently waiting for a convenient time to make a move for the governorship and 2015 had always been the ideal time hence their support for Uduaghan whose continued mandate reinforces that goal. Any talk of an Isoko governor is premature at this stage as it's impractical according to the dynamics of the state though not entirely impossible. I guess only time will tell but obviously, there are more crap in this write up than sense.

It makes perfect sense to vote Millicent, we've always owed Kenya and r yet to pay them back. If Hanni makes it to the final, then we've calculated well, my fear though is what happens when Hanni fails to make it to the final? Treachery! of which Ethiopia are sure to protest by voting for someone else at the final ( i think they only voted for Weza cos everyone knew Karen had massive support at that stage and not necessarily cos they didnt like her). My vote goes to Milli anyway. Fingers crossed.

Due diligence is an integral part of any business venture and more so when u're about to invest money that isnt yours. If Nigerian banks failed to carry out due diligence and got themselves involved in a venture that yielded no returns, then that's their failure. That Babalakin got involved in a bad deal (Who has'nt?) does not make him a perpetual failure. BTW if he could secure funding from outside the country then our local banks have no excuse apart from the obvious fact that they r broke! ecure funding from outside the country then our local banks have no excuse apart from the obvious fact that they r broke!

Bla bla bla. And who wld the writer rather have as spokesperson? A certified criminal so we all can wave aside the minute he opens his mouth to speak?
Every govt wld have to implement tough policies and make unpopular decisions and its ability to sell its idea and intentions to the public wld be critical to its intentions and how it's perceived by the governed. Abati as a respected columnist that built a followership few (if any) in the entire history of this country can claim to have done is about the most qualified man out there to fulfil such a critical role. If being a govt spokesman equates telling lies and spinning the truth to the writer, then so be it. I'm tired of reading silly and maliciously preconceived articles all in the name of wanting the best for Nigeria. Rubbish.

Thanks for the info on the nominations. I couldnt wait.
The nominations just put a good smile on my face. Now the bloody zimbos now recognize Naija power and knowing they'll both be up for eviction, chose to nominate those they perceive are weak and untested housemates hence their choice of both Milli and Kim - devilishly clever.
Imagine Hanni putting herself up! Who does she think got her back? Her saving grace just might be Karen getting swapped which BTW is no certainty but if Vina does, it prolly wld be Sharon's as.s on the line and we just might be saying adios to the East African trio of Kim, Milli and Jangu Jangu though i think kim has got a better chance of survival than Vimbai who i think now has the perfect time to feel the heat she's been storing up for herself, i just pray Biggie lets 4 peeps go. think kim has got a better chance of survival than Vimbai who i think now has the perfect time to feel the heat she's been storing up for herself, i just pray Biggie lets 4 peeps go.

Please you guys should realise that some posters keeping quite or saying some incredible things about BBA doesnt mean they aint knowledgeable about the dynamics of the show.
Vina owes her stay in that house to Vimbai. The votes vina got were protest votes against Vimbai's attitude Otherwise everyone was ready to let her go including most 9ja voters. This is a game of alliances and if Karen wasnt such a strong contender, her chances of winning wld be under threat as 9ja has not really built any alliance this term instead we've been depending on our traditional supporters like Ghana and Ethiopia. This was supposed to be an opportunity to court votes from say Namibia where we could have saved Bern and their vote cld come in handy at the final but instead, we selfishly chose to save another of our own as if they'll both win the prize.
It was perfectly rational to assume Vina wld leave this week but i guess events overtook every rational calculation.

India doesn't really practice Capitalism; it is more like modern feudalism. The rich families are the same ones who have been rich for centuries. They have just tended to change industry as time as progressed. That is why many Indians move out of India because to stay in India is to accept your position in society.
I believe they do. India's founding fathers and shapers of their economy like Panjit Nehru where protectionists - i recall indian movies always had weird looking cars like u'd never see elsewhere which always had me baffled but later got to understand that foreign vehicles were banned in the country and this period was a great incubatory period for their local technology until they eventually were forced to open up. Capitalism was supposed to be the panacea that would cure all ills and the West handed them all sorts of incentives to open up with their eyes firmly on its market, the rest as they say, is history.

India and China were in similar situations in 1980, yet now China has zoomed past them. . . India is about as wealthy per capita as Nigeria. Don't you think their history would have turned out a lot better if they'd reformed earlier?[/quote]I dont think u've gotten me yet and you'd find it difficult to prove China is a 'capitalist' economy. India reformed by embracing capitalism wholeheartedly and the result is a chasm between the rich and poor and a perfectly dual economy, China did same by adopting a more cautious approach - embracing a selective open market system while determining the direction resources went and economic activities in general and the result is there for all to see. So who did capitalism benefit? Certainly not india.

Business › Re: Who Really Benefits From Capitalism? by wesley80(m): 1:04am On Jul 18, 2011
Katsumoto:
The West isn't failing because of capitalism; some countries in the West are failing because of the laws of economics - perfect competition and the re-balancing of resources. Please read Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations. The implementation and promotion of Capitalism in China (State) and India has meant that factors of production are being harnessed in Asia more efficiently. For instance a third of rare earth materials are present in China but China holds above 80% of the Rare Earth market because it is cheaper to mine Rare Earth Materials in China than in the US which holds as much reserves as China. China has used this position to restrict the export of Rare Earth ensuring that many companies site their factories and operations in China.

The US isn't able to compete because land, labour, and capital are more expensive there whereas land and labour are cheap in China while the Government provides cheap capital.
Yes the West is failing because of Capitalism. The key ingredient as u know in every economic system is the allocation of resources and while its left to market forces in capitalism, its not in say China and that's enough to make all the difference. Good thing you mentioned India and China, while India has embraced Capitalism and opened up its mkt, its economy has prospered right? Wrong! Maybe on paper it has but fact is some of the worse levels of poverty exist alongside a fledgling economy and the gulf grows deeper each day and the problem isnt just economic dualism but the inefficient allocation of resources thanks to capitalism. The success of the economy is only self serving, while there is progress, there's a divide that capitalism can not bridge but the illusion of a prospering economy is promoted by deceptive economic aggregates.
Now compare India to China where the govt embraces protectionism and active market regulation, the difference in standard of living and general economic well being becomes all to

For those who don't like capitalism . . . Move to North Korea. Apart from that country, I find it hard to identify any other nation that doesn't operate some kind of mixed or market economy. Stop reading textbooks and face reality.
Hehehe, I thot u were going to mention China. If u could point to a state where central planning failed woefully, why ignore the one it succeed perfectly?
The very thing wrong with Capitalism is the word 'Capitalism', no such thing exists except where it is convenient to force it down the throats of naive governments. Capitalism has only been sustained in the West by active regulation and government controls that have only painted it to look like a success even when it's increasingly becoming an obvious failure. Capitalism has only survived this long because of its malleability but i'm afraid it cant withstand the pressure any more.
BTW, have u heard the latest compliment? it goes like; Mennn, that was so Chinese! Yeah, u guessed right, China's the new fly. The West as we know it is fading and so is their failing economic ideology and as the world crosscarpets, we'lld need an ideology to see us thru and i can tell u for a fact that it wont be Capitalism, so i guess someone just has to wake up n smell what's cooking and fortunately, i dont think i'm the one!
Ideological fixation has always been a problem so i'm not really expecting it to be any different just yet but trying to depend on capitalism in the coming decades is tantamount to clinging on straws in a sinking boat, surely u know u're going down.
