I had no idea how the whole GTB recruitment exercise went,what i expected was an explicit breakdown of the events.

Anyway guys,i got a mail today for an invite to participate in a test at the GTB training school in Ilupeju this week and was hoping someone could post some sample questions that i could use to prepare myself for it.
Also mode of dressing for the test, does it have to be a complete suit-and-tie affair?

Bros I'll recommend a book for you titled "as a man thinketh". You can even try and download the electronic copy online. I graduated from a state university and have written aptitude tests with these so called federal university graduates where I performed very well. Peeps who wrote the recent presidential scholarship will attest to the fact that its not by school. I was even surprised that the private university grads that people do look down upon performed very well. My advice to you is to stop looking down upon yourself, remove the inferiority complex and you are good to go. Some few years back 3 guys graduated from my school with a first class, went to Nottingham university and even graduated as the overall best students there and consequently awarded Phd scholarship. @ all expecting training school invite, a batch had their medicals between monday and yesterday. The TS invite should be sent before the end of today and that's if a class would be resuming next week else expect the invite next week.

I mean classes rather. We have 4 classes in lagos and yes they are operational. At least as far as lagos is concerned, they've been graduating peeps every month. A set graduated last week friday. So expect your medicals invite this week or next.

okesammie: Elbow and whizkidy are good to go by november, the likes of omasmiley and lockheed55 from sept 14 documentation have done their panel interview which means they have some set waiting to be in the training school by 1st week in november. Now, we October 11 documentation team need you guys to tell us hw many of you from september 14 documentation did interview on october 11 and hw many of such people like elbow will join you. So that we know our fate as​ regards the possibility of resuming at training school with you by november as​ we all know 30 people or thereabout resume every month. Your information will be appreciated. I can't wait. I just pray God helps me, my colleagues and every other person through the interview stages.

Don't be anxious bro. Though I understand how you feel. You can't really predict how long your recruitment process would take. Someone like elbow wrote his test in july yet he is yet to resume TS. I wrote my test august 17 and that's not to say some of my batch mates aren't in the TS already.Don't be surprised that some peeps in your batch would need to wait till next year before they resume TS .Peace

shenkron: HELLO @LOCKHEED55, my name is jennifer, and i was also at the essay/documentation stage on the 11th of october 2012 for 12noon at their head quarters. but the thing is, i am still a corper and would be through with service in february 2013. my essay was good and every other documents were available except for my discharge certificate, but i wrote a letter on that same day and i attached it to the documents explaining to them that i am still a corp member and that i dont knowif they can be lenient enuf to allow me continue wt the recruitment stages .
1)house please do u think there is any hope for me?
2) is it possible to come back next year to the head quarter with my dicharge certificate to continue wt the batch that they would be recruiting then?
3)will my test result still be valid by next year?
4)will they contact me to let me know my faith given the fact that i wrote a formal letter concerning the issue?

based on what I've heard, your assessment stops there. You won't be progressed until you are able to supply the discharge certificate. Your test will still be valid till next year february but my fear is that would they still be recruiting by then? If yes then you don't have any reason to fear.

ok then. But as far as lagos training school is concerned, their wont be vacancy until the end of the month. You can make enquiries as regards the abuja training school as well. Learnt there are 2 training classes there.

well i wont deceive you, my application too on their site reads active. Was just fortunate to meet an employee of the bank on linkedin. I gave him my cv and within a couple of weeks got ma invite for test and the rest is history. Thats not to say they dont shortlist from their website cos a friend of mine who applied through that medium is already at the training school. All in all with prayer and supplication make your request known to God.

Let me refer you back to the part of your comment where you said inquisition about you was geared towards knowing whether you were screened out or not so as to better their chances. Well, i was one of those who asked after you then and i believe thats an insult upon my personality. My opinion is that if you dont have a skeleton in your cupboard, such a statement wouldnt have come out from your mouth. I am not here to start up any argument and like i said the other time that we should all be on the look for other opportunities whilst waiting for first bank, i completed GTB's assesment within a space of a month and should have resumed training this week if not for space constraint but would definitely resume soon. So dont think am still interested in FBN job as it is now a thing of the past for me. Gracias

you could have done better by removing this encryption of yours on your BB. Well based on what i know, you have two options. Option number one is to go to the hq, ask for caleb though i learnt he is away on leave now. Am sure he will reschedule you for the next test. Am talking from experience, all the guys at the HR are nice dudes and very considerate. Option no two is for you to go to the training school when next they have a test and talk to caleb. In fact this rep. The most viable option for you as the security guys at the hq may not allow you to enter. I saw someone who had a similar problem as yours when i wrote my test and he was allowed to write that day. And above all pray for favour before you go. Gracias

Check out PTDF after d test selection is based on d test score. WAEC has bin used to shortlist 4 d test y use it again to award d scholarship? Otherwise clearly state dat what u nid are WAEC students with A1 and not first class graduates.

i agree with u my guy. I have been quiet since the list was released simply because i knew it would end this way. As regards what immortal said, you came here to tell us sometimes ago that u were with prof. Okojie sometimes ago and that he told u the criteria to be used. For crying out loud are you jonathan. If okojie can tell you then he should be bold enough to call a press conference to tell the public the criteria he used and why he had to make someone like me risk my life all the way to abuja to write an exam that would have little or no influence on the overall result. Take for example i have 4 distinctions in my waec which i used compared to 6 in neco. Had it been i was told they would end up using ssce result, i would have used my neco result. Anyways congrats to those who made it. We will all get there. Sorry about my typos.

you are to choose any topic of your choice but it must be one that is currently generating public discourse. You only need a single page of the A4 sheet. Time should be 20 mins maximum.

Sayo14: @Sawyer89, Sorry 4 my late reply...I`m always glad 2 share my toefl experience with any prospective test-taker...I prepared for mine within a week cos of my emergent need for it then, and by the grace of God, I had almost 100 points. With much time 4 u to prepare, I think u hv a chance of performing better. These are my defined rationale:
First...I believe every task is very easy with God`s help...Put God first...
Second...U need self-confidence (the whims dt u can do it) that is very much less than what it took u 2 hv a first class...
Third...Get conversant with the modality of the test. The 4 sections (Speaking, reading, writing and listening). U can achieve this, by downloading a toefl ibt sample on d ets website...www.ets.org...Install d sample on ur system...it gives u an idea of wat 2 expect on d test day and what u are expected 2 do in every section...BUT, in reality d test itself cannot be compared in anyway 2 d sample (really standard).
Fourth....It will be good if u can get either Kaplan textbook or barron textbook 4 toefl...(Note: Don`t read them like normal textbks...Just glance thru d pages 2 extract d key points as to what 2 expect in d sections and how u`re expected 2 answer the questions to earn ur full points). I`m saying this, because I believe ur level of English is more than the details they wasted so many pages on, which makes d textbks appear big and scaring 2 read. Personally, I finish Kaplan within 2days and revised it over for another 3 days.
Fifth....Get urself conversant with d use of computer b4 d test day. Technology-fear is a latent problem. As u know, d test is 100% online and u will be using a prometric microphone for d entire test.
Sixth....Time allowed for d test in each section is d most important hinderance u`hv 2 try 2 overcome b4 d test day. For example: Practise typing on ur system everytime to perfect ur typing speed and accuracy 4 d writing section. For d listening, what really help me here was that I watch alot of foreign movies which has really made me addicted to d American accent (Note: If u`re not a foreign movie freak, pls try to be watching documentaries or shows where they speak American accent b4 d test day...this is a very delicate section). For the reading section, never try to read thru passage...I`ll advice u read d first paragraph or even few lines in d first paragraph to hv an idea of what d passage wl be presenting....then move to d questions...most questions will definitely point to d paragraph in wc u can find d answer...be careful with d use of English in ds section and watch ur time.....For the speaking section, d toefl sampler will expose u 2 d kind of qstns to expect...For questions that deals with presentation or discussion on a topic to express ur preference 4 something...there are variety of qstns dt u should be exposed to b4 d test day and practise discussing d topisc 2 urself several times until u can present excellent speeches within d stipulated time (i think 30 or 45 secs)...I think I hv a reliable material on that....U can send me ur e-mail address
Finally....On the test day...be urself....be cool and calm...hv all your senses coordinated and concentrated on the test (this is very much important in d listening, writing and speaking sections so as not to miss any detail necessary to answer d subsequent questions) mind the time given in all d sections...and finish with God....Wishing u d very best......
