People are just selfish, the way they want. They want everyone to believe their lies when it is not favoring them.
Nigeria is in this mess because of some people selfish ambitions. Their leaders are also too selfish.
Read the excerpt below to refresh your understanding of my views.

[21/10 8:45 pm] Anascopeterson: WHAT BIAFRANS WILL NEVER TELL YOU ABOUT THE REAL CAUSE OF THEIR WOES IN NIGERIA TODAY:

The Igbo man is known to enjoy blaming the Hausafulanis, Yorubas and indeed every other Nigerian tribe and Lord Luggard/Britain for their third class citizen status of Nigeria. In their perpetual attempts to a play the victim card, they recount the political events of Nigeria from 1914 to the present in a half-baked and highly selective manner which cleverly avoids the mention of the roles played by their elite who by all natural laws of judgement were actually responsible for the woes that befell not only the Igbo race but the entire Nigeria.
The story told in the post above is one of such selective and distorted accounts of history which the average Igbo man is fond of.
However, the national archives have the complete and unedited history of Nigeria regarding the political events beginning from even before 1914. I will therefore proceed to furnish this house with the complete story for all to read and be endowed with enough facts so as to judge from an informed position.

Shortly after the 1914 Amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates, it started getting clear that the country was bound to fail as the amalgamation in question was done by colonial fiat without the consent of the different tribes which were over 300. This prompted the political leaders to start asking for de-amalgamation so as to forestall the future danger which the forced amalgamation portended.
To that end, Ahmadu Bello, speaking on behalf of the Northern protectorate in 1944 described the amalgamation as "The mistake of 1914 which if allowed to remain will ultimately lead to unstoppable bloodshed and a failed country".
Awolowo, speaking on behalf of the Yorubas and Western minorities, described Nigeria as a mere geographical expression not qualified to be a called a country let alone a nation. Awolowo added that if the amalgamation could not be reversed, then Nigeria should be structured as a strictly federal state so as to enable each tribe enjoy autonomy this freedom from being dominated by any other tribe.

But Nnamdi Azikiwe, speaking for the Igbos, denounced Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello, termed them ethnic champions, accused them of nursing a sectional agenda against the unity of Nigeria, and declared that the Unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable.

After moving motion for independece in 1953, Anthony Enahoro proposed that a secession clause should be incorporated into the future constipation of Nigeria so as to give legal backing for any tribe to peacefully exit the forced union if it feels marginalized in future. According to Enahoro, such provision in our constitution would instill in all Nigeria's future leaders the fear of the consequences of misgovernance. But Azikiwe, speaking on behalf of Igbos, rose against him in the parliament and labelled him an agent of disunity, and enemy of Nigeria. At a later date, Awolowo too made a case for secession clause, buy Azikiwe again resisted him and instigated the colonial authorities to threaten him and Enahoro with charges of treasonable felony if they didn't stop proposing secession clause for the future constipation. While Azikiwe did all this, Igbos cheered and urged him on because they felt the future Nigeria was theirs to dominate and lord it over every other tribe

Before independece, Tafawa Balewa too had in a public speech described Nigeria as a British experiment and Nigeria's unity as a British intention which Nigerians themselves don't believe in. But Azikiwe kicked demonized him too. Had Azikiwe co-operated with Enahoro, Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa about the secession clause, Nigeria perhaps would not have been this misgoverned.

For those in doubt, here is a link of one of the numerous instances in which Nnamdi Azikiwe fought against the secession clause proposal for the future Nigeria constitution.

https://www.thenewsnigeria.com.ng/2017/06/my-opposition-to-secession-zik/

It should be noted that there were many Igbo members of the parliament in which Azikiwe fought against Awolowo's secession clause proposal in the link above, but not a single one of them rose against Azikiwe or condemned him.

Igbos initially never wanted to hear anything like secession in Nigeria because they so much believed, though falsely, that they were the most educated tribe. (The first Nigerian tribe to produce a university graduate is the Binis).
As an evidence of Igbo domination agenda hence their initial resistance to the idea of secession; here are some quotes:
"From all indications, the god of us Igbos have destined us to rule the whole of Africa"..... Nnamdi Azikiwe (1945).

"It is getting clearer each day that Igbo domination of Nigeria is just a question of time"... Oscar Onyeamma. (1949)
[21/10 8:46 pm] Anascopeterson: As at 1900, the whole of the present Benue State, Kogi East Senatorial District and some southern parts of Taraba State called Munchi District back then; were all in the Southern Protectorate. Whoever doubts this should consult MacMillan Atlas for secondary schools in Nigeria.
With that situation the South had a higher population than the North hence always had an upper hand in any democratic bargain.
But as at the early fifties when the regions were being created, common sense dictated clearly that these areas should fall in the future Eastern Region. But against common sense, the colonial masters decided to gerrymander them into the Northern Region. While they did that, the Azikiwe who was supposed to be in Enugu fighting against it as the leader of the East, was far away in Ibadan struggling with Awolowo to rule the Western Region and also playing the spoiler role against Awolowo's attempts to have Kwara and present Kogi Yorubas carved into the Western Region from the North which was already too large by landmass.
[21/10 8:48 pm] Anascopeterson: While he abandoned his burning house and was far away in Ibadan struggling against Awolowo for his own (Awolowo's) region, Igbos saw absolutely nothing wrong with that. Rather they applauded him as a nationalist. A nationalist whose house was burning yet busy chasing rats in a far away land.
[21/10 9:02 pm] Anascopeterson: When opinions became unanimous that Lord Luggard and his government must be forced out of Nigeria and indeed the whole of Africa, it was still the Igbos that frustrated the attempts. Here is how:
In 1948, Anthony Enahoro organized an anti-colonization symposium in Lagos for which Azikiwe and some other Igbos had agreed to deliver the keynote address.
But when the D-day came, Azikiwe was nowhere to be found as he deliberately disappeared into thin air for fear of being arrested and dealt with by Lord Luggard.
Anthony Enahoro then quickly replaced Azikiwe with another person who did the job improptu but perfectly well as he lambasted and lampooned Lord Luggard and the British Government. However, the British soldiers invaded the symposium venue, arrested the speaker and Enahoro and jailed them for treasonable felony.
Ironically, the next day Azikiwe came out of hiding and granted a radio interview in which he accused Enahoro and the other organizers of suffering from youthful exhuberance.
On regaining his freedom few weeks later and being told of Azikiwe's radio interview, Enahoro resigned from his post as Editor of Azikiwe's newspaper - The West African Pilot.
Then he wrote a book titled "Nnamdi Azikiwe: Sinner of Saint".
After laughing the book, Enahoro left Azikiwe's party - the NCNC, and moved over to Awolowo's Action Group.
[22/10 6:22 am] Anascopeterson: The first military coup in Nigeria was carried out by majority Igbo army officers. That was the coup that truncated democracy just six years post Independence and led to a succession of coups which put the country on the reverse gear for 33 years.
Through that first coup, those Igbo army officers who accused the politicians and government of the day of monumental corruption, killed the political leaders of the Northern, Western and Midwestern Regions but allowed all Igbo political figures escape by tipping them off prior to the D-Day. In addition to the killing of political figures, they also killed a total of 27 innocent high ranking military officers from every region except their Eastern Region.
In the end an Igbo man called Aguiyi Ironsi, who was supposed to have been killed alongside other military officers, ended up becoming the new military ruler of Nigeria. Rather than immediately arrest and punish the coup plotters, he kept them in detention where they were treated as heros. This was actually what sowed the seed for the eventual Biafra War. On the 23rd of February 1966 (i.e. a month and 8 days after the first coup porpularly but wrongly known as Nzeogwu coup, an Ijaw born Army officer called Isaac Adaka Boro who hailed from Kaima town of present Bayelsa State, declared the secession of the Niger Delta Republic in an attempt to free his Ijaw people from the monumental marginalization they had been suffering under Igbos in the old Eastern Region.
But Aguiyi Ironsi immediately ordered Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu to arrest him and hand him over to the military high command under him in Lagos. Ojukwu went all out against Isaac Adaka Boro with federal military might and within 12 fighting days killed 150 Isaac Boro's soldiers, arrested him, stripped him naked, and had him driven to Lagos and handed to Ironsi who immediately charged him to court and within two months secured against him a conviction of treasonable felony for which he was sentenced to death by hanging fixed for December that year by the Supreme Court. His 'crime' was that he declared secession of The Niger Delta Republic from Nigeria. Meanwhile the Igbo coupists who shed innocent blood of other tribes and even sprayed bullets into the bellies of the pregnant wives of Ahmadu Bello and Brigadier Shodeinde were not charged to court or arraigned before any military tribunal.

Isaac Adaka Boro was in detention waiting for December to come for him to join his ancestors. But God so kind, a revenge coup happened on July 29 by Northern soldiers and Ironsi was overthrown and killed. Gowon took over and released Isaac Adaka Boro unconditionally, reinstated him into the Army with his previous rank.
Then on May 30, 1967, Ojukwu too declared secession of Biafra Republic from Nigeria and without consulting or apologising to Isaac Boro's, drew a Biafra map which included the very areas that made up Isaac Adaka Boro's earlier declared Niger Delta Republic for which he fought against him and killed his soldiers.
Seeing such level of arrogance in Ojukwu, Isaac Boro asked Gowon to provide arms for him to crush Biafra by fighting on the Nigerian side in vengeance for Ojukwu's frustration of his own secession declaration 15 months earlier.
Isaac Boro, as an Ijaw man conversant with the waterways, led the Nigeria Army through the coastal areas into Igbo land to finish off thousands of Ojukwu's soldiers thus leading to the crushing defeat of Biafra.
But today, Igbos accuse Ijaws of betraying them in the war. But from the facts as above, who really betrayed the other in all honesty? Be the judge.
Why Gowon fought against Ojukwu's declaration of Biafra was as follows:
After Ironsi and Ojukwu successfully crushed Isaac Boro's Niger Delta Republic declaration, Ironsi immediately proceeded to promulgate the Anti-secession Decree which made the mere mention of secession from Nigeria punishable with death by hanging. Ojukwu openly supported and endorsed the decree despite disapproval of it by the general public. So when Ojukwu later declared Biafra secession, he was reminded of the Anti-secession Decree made by him and his brother Ironsi.
[21/10 11:23 pm] Deadly Truth: Igbos frequently reference Aburi Accord to create the impression that the rest Nigerian tribes don't honour agreements. This is a very dishonest narrative from Igbos.
First and foremost Aburi Accord was organized by soldiers and unelected civil servants who should not participate in political exercises like making laws due to the civil service anonymity principle. Secondly, those civil servants and military men in attendance were not elected by their federal constituencies to the Aburi summit. In the philosophy of democracy the only universally acceptable way of making laws is through duly elected representatives of the people. But in going to Aburi the peoples' representatives duly elected in the 1965 elections were all sidelined for soldiers to hijacked the process. Where on earth do soldiers make laws for the people? Rather the civilian populace makes laws that guide the military. Aburi Accord therefore had no seal of the people's sovereignty hence it was an illegality which shouldn't have been allowed to stand.
Thirdly, in 1957, Nigerians from all federal constituencies democratically elected representatives whom they sponsored to London, paid their flight tickets and hotel accommodation for the Independence constitutional conference. Those representatives all resolved and agreed on federalism marked by regional autonomy and resource control in the Independence constitution which they brought back home and everyone accepted it.
In that constitution, Nigerians all agreed that on no account shall the military take over power. It was also clearly stated in it that ammendments to it could be done by only democratically elected respresentatives.
That constitution was the first ever agreement between all Nigerians.
On the day of his inauguration as the Army GoC, Aguiyi Ironsi stood before the whole world and with his own mouth swore to protect and defend that sovereign Independence constitution regardless of the circumstances that may later arise. But just six years after he manufactured an excuse to clinic power against the clear provisions of that constitution we all agreed to, unilaterally began to amnend its provisions with his very offensive Decrees, and ended up dismantling the federalism and resource control therein, and ultimately subverted that constitution we all painstakingly sacrificed to draft. That was the height of irresponsibly and dishonoring of sacred agreement. That was how Igbos breached the first agreement we ever all mutually consented to, thus laying the foundation for violation of future agreements. So Aburi Accord was only treated exactly the same way Igbos treated the Independence constitution agreement.

*Re: Defection from APC to PDP and others – Another apt reaction from Barrister Raji Stephen T. Adekunle*

Obj once said of FFK that if you give him food, he would sing for you. Someone just reminded us that Jonathan had predicted in 2015 that all the PDP decampees who joined Buhari's APC would soon be driven back to PDP by hunger. These are people who control more than 50% of the nations income in the form of bogus salaries and allowances, constituency projects, budget padding etc. Yet Jonathan predicted that they would be driven back to PDP by hunger. In a single day, over 60 legislators confirmed the prophecy of Jonathan. Obviously, Jonathan knew what kept them in his party, "yams". It's like these people are not even afraid to let us know that the reason they are running helter skelter is not for the good of Nigeria or anyone but their daily bread. Curiously, you are still celebrating them. Who did this to us for Christ's sake? I was once disturbed by some policies of this government and was almost regretting voting them into power until I began to see Jonathan running from pillar to post. He rushed to IBB in Minna to hold nocturnal meetings. I saw OBJ running all over the country to hold meetings and mend fences with old sworn enemies, from Afenifere to Otuoke, from Damkwambo to Bode George. He even recapitulated to rejoin the PDP whose membership card he openly tore and swore never to participate in politics. He initially told Nigerians that he was leading a 3rd force that would not be political, but was quick to transform same to ADC. He was recruiting members all over the country with an unbelievable desperation. I quickly borrowed myself some senses. I began to wonder whether these people are subjecting themselves to all these discomforts because of the love for the nation, the masses or their selfish interests. Anyone who chooses to be fooled by these people should have himself and his creator to blame for his foolishness.
I think the revolution we all have been clamouring for has finally come and thank God we have an honest man at the forefront, Nigeria must be liberated.

I am so Happy About the defection of snitches to PDP

Congratulations to APC as PDP moles masquerading as APC clearly define themselves by defecting to PDP. It is been hell having PDP elements as snitches in APC. Gradually the house is sanitized. rAPC has acted enemies within APC for too long, nature have naturally sorted them out. In their criminality they acted same while in PDP and formed nPDP, today the APC is whom they are betraying. With those characters I can confidently say that leopards never changes its spots. The days of tears for PDP is very near thank God they have left APC.

Because they lost presidential elections, they moved to the next available space that corruption thrives, ie the legislature. With huge allocations to the National Assembly PDP created a conduit pipe to fund corruption and anti Buhari campaign. While Buhari blocked all loopholes for corruption and starved those around him, the huge budget of the National Assembly was made available for enemies of Nigeria in the National Assembly to service corruption and/or pay religious leaders and media men to frustrate the Buhari's Government

Tips for those rejoicing with the cabal of corrupt persons;

1. Buhari was announced to have died and today, Buhari is stronger, so don't rejoice over Saraki's manipulation because the integrity of Buhari will surely place him were he belongs

2. There was a campaign that Buhari is an Islamic bigots; CAN and Nigerian media was used as instrument of campaign against Buhari. Today their voices are getting fainter and conscientious Nigerians are knowing their antics, once again they have failed

3. They began that Buhari is responsible for the killings in Nigeria but investigation is increasingly revealing that politicians are responsible for the killing of their own people as a smear campaign tool against Buhari. Arrest reveals that it was locals not Fulani's that were killings their own brothers

4. Today a suspected sponsor of robbery and a Senate President was invited by the police on clear allegations and evidence before the police. He was just to report to the police to answer questions bothering on allegations before the police. In sane climes, a Senate President constantly smeared with crimes ought to have been immediately impeach; but in a country where corruption is prized, lazy Nigerian Youths have politicised the invitation of a suspected criminal to political witch haunt.

Today the same lazy Nigerian youths want Buhari to do magic yet they can't join hands to fight corruption and free Nigeria from hawks. In their gullibility and sycophancy they are found supporting those eating the opportunities to build roads, give them employment, improve education, fight corruption, improve standard of living etc.

Let Nigerians continue supporting corruption. I am for Buhari and gradually we shall get there

SBG04:
You have no idea what you're talking about. You're behaving like an illiterate. PMS price rose because we stopped paying money to Jonathan's PDP people as subsidy. Now the NNPC is the sole importer of petrol and no money is disappearing anywhere as subsidy.
The price of rice and other esse rivals rose post 2015 because we didn't have any dollars left after the price of oil tanked! Jonathan fritted everything away on Dasuki, Diezani, Mama peace and traditional rulers. He used our foreign reserves to contest an election he lost! The rest of the dollars he stored in an apartment in Lekki. That s why the price of commodities rose post 2015. There was scarcity of foreign exchange to import anything. But thanks to sound economic management our reserves have risen by more than 60% from 2015 to 2018. Inflation has been trending downwards for close to 10 consecutive months now! You won't know all these because you're an illiterate that uses the price of garri to judge economic policy. Ode!!!
I pray that God bless you abundantly, you're one of the country's rare gem who really understand things and very intelligent. Unlike the majority mumu that MMM stole their pocket dry because of lack of common sense.

They believe Buhari is the cause of all these economy bruhaha, because that's what they planted in their memory. They believe money should flow like river and jobless youths should be the beneficiary. When Buhari called us lazy youths, they were shouting up and down. Are we not lazy? Simple analysis or reasoning why things are like these is beyond them.

It is not a surprise, most of them were sponsored to "Abule" to write WAEC. Graduated without job but driving cars around earning pocket money instead of looking for job. They can't even started a job of #50K to gain experience all they ever want is to be like Davido, Whizkid and Olamide.

May God help us if as youths we can't reason and differentiate our left from right. Know the truth and it shall set you free.

Buhari is not an angel and nor his party but he had started the journey to another level for this country only if we have the will power to pursue and continue it, instead of going back to the murky water of I don't care politics. Youths are out there campaigning for Presidency - this is the right move in the right direction. We need to sanitize our polity.

If what happens in Ekiti last week happens 4 years ago, that's the end and someone with the mightiest brute force will emerge and that'll be the end of the story. Who were they using? We - youths. You saw him with charms, he had bargained his future for hundreds or thousands of naira - those are the lazy youths.

Our own wives are our mates with no respect for us but his own was very respectful and sincere. Infact we always envy him. They are like friends or brother sister sort of married life. Her understanding surpasses our wayward ones, who always are worldly wise.
While our own are very jealous and nagging. She never exhibit any and seem matured than our wives which are older and sophisticated. Christianity EtcMssn Rejoinder To Osun Hijab Issue by whyman(op): 3:50pm On Jun 28, 2016
Mssn response to hijab issue in Osun 28th June 2016

Our Country, Our Dear Country and Our State of Osun.

1. The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, B-Zone (Southern Nigeria) heartily felicitates with the entire Muslim ummah of Nigeria in general, and the Muslim ummah of the State of Osun in particular on the successful prosecution of the rights of our girls in the courts of law where it was established that our girls are also a part in the Nigerian project with their rights and privileges guaranteed.  I pray that Allah (Glory be to Him in His majesty) reward, in abundance, all those who worked assiduously to ensure our children's inalienable rights remain protected for generations yet unborn.

2. The Muslim students society of Nigeria (B-Zone, Southern Nigeria) carefully notes certain interesting development subsequent to the judgment from the Osun state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria and certain elements in the mainstream press. Some of these developments are, in our view, normal and some of them tend towards the absurd. We are happy though, that with backroom interventions of well meaning Nigerians from all walks and all faiths,  responses are now getting guided by maturity and enlightenment.

3. In all of the above, a few things however continue to confound the society such as follows:

i. Why is the Osun State chapter of CAN so interested in how our children dress?

ii. Why should ordinarily respectable journalists and editorial boards of some print media organizations try to hijack the responsibility of appellate court in reviewing and invalidating judgement of a competent court of law delivered after more than three years of legal battle where all respondents (including Osun state CAN) had ample opportunity to present their cases before the court? Is religious bias this strong in the subconscious of the Nigerians that even men of repute are unable to control themselves given the right circumstance?

iii. Why did the Muslims need to go to court in the first instance over a piece of cloth draped over the head of their daughters? Is there still a Nigerian who does not know that female Muslims wear the hijab? What is the struggle over? Hate or maybe just lack of exposure?

4. Fellow Nigerians, we own this country together; Christians, Muslims and other religious ideology adherents. We may spend our time over which religion have the larger population but we will only be wasting everybody's time.  With our broad divides no religion is going to push out any other one in any foreseeable time. All the efforts of the Christian missionaries to convert Muslims to Christianity over the last decades in the southwest has not worked; Islam is only waxing stronger, from Lagos to Ekiti. The churches are also still very full all over and waxing strong despite the efforts of the Alfas. Is it not time for us all to wake up to reality and adopt a live-and-let-live approach? A perpetual sense of compulsive inter religious competition or simply, a poor sense of priorities cannot be the guide for our actions in this century and beyond.

5. Now, certainly there will always be areas where the Muslims and Christians disagree and we should talk about those and address them. However the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria does not believe it is in the interest of any religion that we perpetually fight over everything from the absurd to the bizarre. If we do that, we practically hold down the development of our collective society to the benefit of none. And God will ask us about that when we eventually meet Him.

6. May we clearly state that since every successful litigant will not be deprived the fruit of his labour, Muslim female students in Osun State have started the use of hijab in public schools in Osun State and will continue to do so. The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria will not hesitate to institute a contempt proceeding against anybody or group including but not limited to principals, teachers, headteachers that dare to deny any of our female members the use of hijab in defiance to the judgement of the court. It is certainly not also the business of the society what clothes non-Muslims wear to school.  We have been relating with catholic sisters over decades with no history of complaints from the Muslims.

7. It may however not be fair to complete this message without noting that while the CAN of Osun may have gotten themselves caught in an embarrassment web on this issue at this time, it is not only this group or other Christian groups that get themselves caught in the web of parochialism.  It happens to Muslim groups too at times. If we must learn to live together and create a progressive community where our children can live together and learnt to appreciate and tolerate our differences. Indeed, we must all learn to manage our parochial tendencies. We need to do that for the betterment of our dear nation.

8. And to those few gentlemen of the press who struggled with biases unsuccessfully, our view is that you can do better than the low blow you delivered to your profession at this time. You are supposed to be important part of development of sane and lawful society, we think that role demands more responsibility than what was demonstrated in the past few weeks. We are unequivocal to say you owe that responsibility as a duty to your children.

9. On a side note to our dear Lagos State Governor, Itesiwaju Eko, l'ojewalogun. Insha Allah our daughters will be part of that itesiwaju with their beautiful hijabs.

10. Finally, I will like to congratulate all well meaning Nigerians on this occasion. We all need to use it as a test of our objectivity, our ability to rise above our base tendencies and our ability to progress together despite our differences.

Long live the Muslim Student's Society of Nigeria
Long live the State of Osun.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

God had been exposing those who have done that before and your own case will not be different. My dear sister! if I may ask you what is LOVE?

Love is feeling secure and comfortable with another person, crave his/her presence around you, care for you and with a longing to be with him/her always. Giving considerations to each other and looking for ways of making each other happy always. (My definition)

Love grows only if you water it well and feed it with nutrient to make it germinate and grows faster. If you don't like you will have either by your action or inaction fend him off gradually since beginning.

He on the other hand had evaluates you and you fit to his fantasy of his own ideal wife materials.

Please and please don't play with another man's heart, it is very dangerous and might cost you a lot of things. I wish you all the best in your final decision but for me I will love a woman who loves me more that I loved myself because, she will always listen to me and I will respect her more that I respect myself because she will always care for

Please, do a self and work analysis. It would help a lot. If you are suffering psychologically it is not worth it but if not leave.
I worked in a company for about 1 yr and then the MD started abusing me, even for a fault not my own, he will pay others but don't pay me. I will sit down at home and if they need me will call me and ask why I was at home. I'll tell the secretary that I don't have money for trans sport, he will pay and I will return, but after the third time I put in my resignation since I know my worth, being poor doesn't mean I don't have dignity or self esteem. After two month, he called me to come and receive my pay and gave me one of the used laptop. Though there are other he owed up to 5 months and do come to work without pay. I got another job after 3 months but he do call me for PP from which I got more money.

What's important is your self esteem, always keep your head straight and stand tall

This is arrant nonsense, the whole school was locked down because President Jonathan was around on a political mission. Student who had exams today were first sent back and disallowed from entering before they finally allowed them in. They have to walk 1000m instead of the normal 5 - 10 meters from the bus stop to their respective exam hall.
Why would over 500 security bared students since they have ID cards on them for easy identification?
I'm not his fan but this is bad, we should all be considerate.
PoliticsWho Is Ogbeni Abdul Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola? by whyman(op): 10:22am On Sep 03, 2014
I found this interesting article about Ogbeni via a link on sahararepoters.com to pmnewsnigeria.com.

I have read a lot of lies and misinformation about him and it pained me a lot because what people outside State of Osun portrays is different from what we see everyday by his influence and performance at the state especially the bulid up to August 9 Election. This is by Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who had worked with him before now.

God bless you as you read read this exerpt:

I was greatly saddened to read the material written by Mr. Eyieyien urging “The Remnants” to vote out the current Governor of Osun State Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and vote in Chief Iyiola Omisore. I am also still somewhat puzzled as to how what appeared to be an opposition to a bond issue and other sundry allegations degenerated to the running down of the APC as an Islamic party, a propaganda tool notoriously deployed by the PDP through its various organs.
Are we as Christians now being urged to support the PDP or what exactly is the message? Reason, is one of the most important contributions of the Gospel to development. From it emerge the practical concepts of fairness and justice for all, especially our enemies. Which is why lynching, even of an intellectual kind is unacceptable.

I am not an unbiased intervenor, I had the good fortune of serving in an AD/ACN government in Lagos State. The ACN is a major partner in the APC. I will come back to the PDP/APC issue.

Also, I have known Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Governor of the State of Osun, since 1999. We served on the policy committees of the then newly elected AD governor of Lagos State. He served in the infrastructure sub-committee and I, in the Justice sub-committee.

I also served with him for eight years in the government of Lagos State. He was then Commissioner for Works and I as Attorney General. I developed a close personal relationship with him. His early ideological belief was shaped by Marxist-Socialist thinking, which probably influences his left-of-centre world view in governance. His first son Kabir went to university in Cuba on a scholarship.

In 2005 when he graduated, only Rauf and I attended his graduation. He is a devout Muslim but liberal in his approach to other faiths. This is not unusual amongst the Yorubas largely because most families have both Muslim and Christian members and have always interacted without rancour. Of his six siblings only one other is a Muslim. All the others are Christians. His sister who attends the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), is widowed (her husband died a Christian) her two sons have lived with Rauf for years and he insists that they must practice their father’s faith. They both attend the RCCG.

He and I shared and still share a burden to provide honest, transparent, people-centered governance. He is a scrupulously honest person, as Commissioner for Works in Lagos state he left office without a home and no financial comforts. I know, because aside from my personal and official interaction with him, I coordinated his legal team for the reclamation of his mandate for over three years. I know first hand, his difficulties with sustaining his family, and a small staff for that period. Not surprisingly no one can accuse him in Osun state of corruption. He is just not wired that way.

Indeed, in keeping with that commitment to serve the people with complete fidelity, his major projects have been solely directed at alleviating the suffering and deprivation of his people. The hiring of, now 40,000 unemployed graduates, the provision of free balanced meals for all primary school children, provision of free uniforms, the provision of tablet computers for senior secondary school students containing all their textbooks, past jamb questions etc., monthly stipends to the elderly – all of these in a state that is the third poorest in federal allocations and currently gets N2.6 billion monthly, a 40 per cent reduction from 2013, courtesy the federal government.
Mr. Eyieyien perhaps was not aware that even the 10 billion Sukuk bond was purely for the building of 24 model state-of-the-art schools, most of which are now completed. The Wole Soyinka led Osun education summit recommended the replacement of the completely broken school infrastructure in Osun state with schools capable of accommodating 1000 students with modern labs, classrooms, power and sports facilities. The idea was to use economies of scale to benefit the largest number of students.

When Mr. Eyieyien describes him as “Sheikh” it is clearly to give the impression that he is an Islamic fundamentalist. The facts on the man completely belie this. First, as Commissioner for Works in Lagos State,he built the chapel at the State House, Marina.
Pastor Adeboye at the opening commended him and remarked that he would be a pastor soon! Within a year of coming into government, he commissioned in Ilesa the Open Heavens Christian Evangelical Arena, a purpose-built facility for evangelism which according to him was to celebrate the icons of the Christian faith who are from Osun namely Late Apostle Babalola, Late Apostle Obadare, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, Pastor W.F Kumuyi and Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo.

Today, his government supports the establishment of five Christian universities in Osun, including The Redeemers University at Ede, Joseph Babalola University, Dominion University, and Bowen University.

How about the composition of government in Osun state? You will notice that his critics are never able to say that Christians are marginalised in government, why? Because only Muslims can make that allegation!

In the Cabinet of Osun state there are 10 more Christians than Muslims. In addition, the largest Ministries are headed by Christians; Ministries of Finance, Justice, Education, Health, Environment, Agriculture, Physical Planning and Youth and Sports. The Legislature (House of Assembly), which came into office after he won back his mandate in court in November 2010, has a majority of Christian members – 18 Christians and 8 Muslims. Everyone knows that at that level if the governor does not support your nomination by the party your ambitions are dead in the water.

The state judiciary is headed by a Christian who he appointed although he had preferred and proposed a judge from Lagos Justice Olubunmi Oyewole also a non-Muslim. Of over 30 new Permanent Secretaries appointed by him 22 are Christians. If the majority of your cabinet, (including your Attorney-General), your Legislature, Judiciary and top echelon of your civil service are Christians how can we in truth say that such a person has an Islamisation agenda? Surely the least a “Sheikh” with an Islamisation agenda should do to achieve his objective is to populate the structure that can achieve that objective with Muslims!

It is also entirely false that he patronizes or uses “TAAWUN” guards for his security. It is common knowledge that he hardly even uses any security at all, except for a couple of SSS men, his monthly LIFE WALKS, where he walks alongside his people for kilometres without any significant security cordon was commended recently by a former governor in the Southeast.

It is incredible what prejudice can do to us. Everyone in Osun knows that the State was nicknamed “State of the Living Spring” in reference to the Osun River after which the state is named. Renaming the State “the OmoluabiState” – meaning “the State of children born of God” or “the State of men and women of virtue” certainly gives greater glory to God.

To suggest that benefiting from a Sukuk bond to better the lives of his people of all faiths, is enough to justify the grave allegation of an Islamisation agenda, is with all due respect, calling a dog a bad name simply to hang it. I agree that it may have served the politics of religion better not to take the bond, but it is a fairer judgment of his motives, knowing him, that this was borne out of his desire to serve his people well.

The 24 mega schools with state-of-the-art facilities is a quantum leap in education for the majority of children of the poor who before now schooled in what the Soyinka committee saw as ‘scandalous’. The alternative was not to build the schools. When a man who is doing right by the poor and deprived people he governs, is being condemned by those of us who are called to serve the poor, the sick, the naked, and the hungry then it is fair to ask what the values in governance we really intend to promote are? In any event the alternative is Chief Iyiola Omisore whose antecedents we ought, to put it delicately, be cautious to associate with.

A problem with uncritically accepting as useful advice this viciously anti-APC propaganda, is that it throws the baby out with the bath water. So we are now expected to reject the landmark achievements in Lagos, in Ogun ( the huge infrastructural developments), Oyo ( which for the first time most admit is making real progress) , Edo, and Ekiti ( where almost everyone agrees the governor did a good job but Fayose understood stomach infrastructure better!) Or now Kano or Rivers ( where a REAL rail service is about to begin;Lagos is also about to complete a rail service amongst other exemplary achievements )!

It is also false that the APC’s new executive reserved its top positions for Muslims! The Chairman of the party Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is a Christian, the Deputy National Chairman (South) Engr. Segun Oni is a Christian, so are the National Organizing Secretary Senator Osita Izunaso, Deputy National Secretary Hon. Orji Ugofa and Chief Pius Akinyelure , theVice Chairman of the South West. For what it is worth, there are 22 Muslims and 21 Christians in the APC National Executive Committee.

Regarding the rather thinly veiled ‘support the PDP/ JONATHAN’ message, it is incredible that we are invited to ignore the cynical manner that our President Goodluck Jonathan uses Christianity and the church to further his political ambitions. Why are we being urged to support a PDP/Jonathan bid again? The platform has largely on account of its tragic failure to perform, decided to exploit Nigeria’s religious fault lines in the most cynical manner to win support, in the process he continues to divide Nigeria in by the far most extreme manner in our history.

I have worked with many brethren since 2002 on issues around Islamization in Nigeria, in particular with Revd. Ladi Thompson of the Macedonian Initiative and the Omoluabi network. It is clear that Al Qaeda, ISIS , and more recently Boko Haram and their splinters are committed to an Islamization agenda. Their symphathisers certainly cut across all boundaries.

The Late General Azazi, then NSA, pointedly accused the PDP of being behind the escalation of Boko Haram, I have that statement on DVD. The President, also openlylamented the infiltration of his cabinet by the Boko Haram. Recently a Nigerian pastor in a widely circulated CD, speaking on the Jihadist agenda accused General Babangida of funding the Islamization agenda from his days as President. Today President Jonathan’s most influential Northern supporter is General Babangida. His narrative unfortunately gives no credit to Gen Buhari, and his deputy Gen Idiagbon (also a muslim) who refused to join the OIC despite pressures. Or that Gen Buhari remains the one head of State who was able to defeat an extremist insurgency, the Maitatsine.

How can we fail to see that the incredible corruption, incompetence, poverty of 2/3 of our people after almost seven years of the present government is unsupportable? How is it that Diezani’s use of 10billion Naira to run her private jet ( the same amount of money for the building of 24 mega schools in Osun!) and the complete silence of the President on this travesty does not lead to calling for him to be voted out in 2015? So the allegation of the missing or unaccounted for 20.8 billion USD with 110 million desperately poor, should be dismissed as pure propaganda? So it doesn’t make a difference to us that under the PDP Nigeria has fallen behind in every human development indicator? 55,000 women dying yearly of maternal related ailments, only recently Stanford’s Professor Larry Diamond compared the yearly deaths of over 300,000 children yearly in Nigeria to the killing of 800, 000 mainly Tutsis in Rwanda. The latter was described as genocide, what is the description to give to mass deaths of infants caused by grand corruption?

We discredit our treasured platforms such as this when we mask our political preferences with a religious veil. The vast majority of our people need to be delivered from terrible want and deprivation, what is required now are capable, honest men and women of all faiths, who know that this country may not long survive the daily punishment of its own people.

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and pastor of the Redeemed Church of God, was former Attorney-General in Lagos State. He sent this article from Lagos.

Don't mind vanguard. The reason they were suspended was that one of them (in charge of Obokun) move electoral materials with the consent and approval of the other one without security personnel. All of you saw it here on naira land with the pictures of the jeep. INEC had to change the ballot papers at the last minute because of that.

They are just stuuned because their rigging plans are not effective. The people of Osogbo are wiser and bolder to stand at polling booth till the result were counted and recorded.
PoliticsRe: Aregbesola's Victory Speech by whyman(m): 2:09pm On Aug 10, 2014
I'm sad by most of the comments I have read from above.

The simple and plain truth is that the election is not free and fair.

Reasons:

1. APC strong party members have to go in hiding because of the fear of their imminent arrest. (Ward 15 Ekerin - osogbo LG, the APC LG rep. (lady) was arrested with the youth leader for no reason on the eve of election).

2. The PDP plan did not work. We were advised by Jonathan and his cohorts not to stay close to the polling booth after the election but people did otherwise even troop out to LG collation centres.

3. If not for monitoring groups and media house, the result would have been changed along the line. people from each unit and ward starts sending individual results to social media for others to know situation of things. Even FFK testified to this in his tweet. He expects another result where PDP would be leading.

4. More security personnel in Osogbo and Ilesha than any other place in Osun State. In fact road blocks in some areas of Ilesha by security personnel while Ile-Ife was less policed. Armed security zoomed to Ife late Friday evening.

5. APC secured a court Injunction to stop illegal harassment and intimidation by security forces and yet they were arrested without any reason.

Upon all these people who are not in Osun State call these free and fair election and praise Jonathan for these.

Those of us in Osun we know what is happening - in 2007 they brought war and panic to us, they use the same security operatives to a harass us.

In 2011, we had a very peaceful election, no single case of harassment or intimidation.

2014, they did the same thing like 2007.

If people can trek form Ayekale - Ota Efun to Isale Osun, from Okefia to Oke Baale and from Iludun to Isale-Aro to cast their vote amid tight security presence shows the determination of our people for good governance. Those who are spewing rubbish can continue.

Osun A Dara!

I just confirmed your report that a white Toyota Hilux was captured early this morningmorning by vigilantes and was discovered to be carrying electoral materials without any security operatives.

This shows that Jega, INEC, AIG and all those that promises free and fair election are just liars. They promised us that all electoral materials for distribution would be accompanied by armed security personnel.

The vehicle number shows that it belongs to FG and AIG ordered that those involved should be released.

Well said the two main commentators.

Our future leaders are only about stomach infrastructure, sudden wealth and fame, little work very fat pay.

They want to ride flashy cars and live in opulence neighbourhood, not caring about their fellow men, but for only their bread to be buttered.

That's why we always choose somebody who doles out money as against so body who decides to affects positively the lives of majority through infrastructure development.

I was offered #5,000 yesterday to support a candidate that has no credible record. I ask the lobbyist that how many hours would I used to spend that money out if the next four year compared to developing infrastructures that would benefit me abundantly.

He kept quiet but his next question surprised me which made me believe he is a fool and stupid. He asked "what have you benefited in the last four years". I answered that I should start with him. I enumerate his immediate and extended family who have benefitted one way or the order. He concludes that what did I expect him to do. He eats, lives and drink politics. That with his party not in power it was hell for him, he had taken his kids to public school.

I advised him to start back his work of carpentry instead of Okada that had destroyed his life and that of his family since they dash it to him about 5 years ago.

That's example of what our politicians are. May God Almighty help us. Chop and chop at the detriment of the masses.

State of Osun came about as away to stop siphoning of revenue through parallel revenue agency since Osun revenue was not computerised.

The logo, emblem and anthem were the one of the SW region in the days of Late Sage Obafemi Awolowo.

He consults Obas and Chiefs.

But for me he gave us a unique identity, which some are struggling to copy.

The anthem is about an egalitarian society where we are all equal and benefit equally from our government whether you are a member of the party in government or not.
