onegentleguy: Not a great news for SEPLAT... so shareholders should do well to watch that space. Though the court order was specifically directed to the chairman (the accused) who is also a core stakeholder of the company, $114M is quite a lot of money to cause a scare. Should this have an impact on the share price, then contrarian investors should watch this space.
I recall I have since done an analysis on the coy in the past here. ...SEPLAT is a BUY by all ramification as its MoS to intrinsic valuation presently shows a great untapped VALUE behind the price !! Adjusting for any immediate risk, the company's current true value should be NO less than N1,080. ...that's a near 72% discount from Friday's closure price of N630 !! Again, keep an EYE on it.
DISCLOSURE: I presently do NOT hold a single unit in SEPLAT PETROLEUM, but will be open to keying in as soon as our alligned strategy and time is right.
DISCLAIMER: NOT to be interpreted as a buy or sell recommendation !! - Will be happy if SEPLAT price can come down with this news, have some tasere units - SEPLAT FA looks solid & am of the opinion that this is the Chairman private matters and got nothing to do with SEPLAT - Loan was collected by the Chairman Coy, Sheba Exploration. - Chairman dispose his holdings in Sheba despite an existing court order placing restriction on sales of directors holdings. - Loan remained unpaid till date while all the legal paparazzi continues. - I hope they eventually settle out of court |

No guaranteed market price for farm produce and wicked middlemen in the value chain are major problems.
If I have a guaranteed price per kilo for my product even before planting, then I can work around all other production costs.
Eliminate these middlemen, farmers and youth will breathe. |

yaki84: Someone lured investor all the way uk, they passed ogun state with close proximity to lagos the economic capital of nigeria, n other states that has equally good investment n economic policies to akwaibom a civil service state. Build a factory according to u that can take atleast 50persons off labour market n u want me to condemn such project? Incase u dnt knw am a marine biologist. Alma mater- unical. 2007. Where is the lie in this project bro? Is the structure as seen in the pix not on ground? Even if he has stake in the project or he is the sole owner of the project, is it not better to be built here where successive govt will atleast collect tax from it n will also employ eligible akwaibomites? Can u tell me one disadvantage this project will portend to people around the community it's sited or the state atlarge? We have a long way to go in Nigeria if we get carry away with sensational headlines, - State govt is yet to resolve the illegal acquisition of lands (11,000 hectares) and non compensation of landowners . - Why import coconut seedling from Cote De Voire when research institutes like IITA (Ibadan) and NIFOR (Badagry) can provide seedlings that suit our environment. It is said that most of the imported seedlings planted have become stunted and overgrown with weeds. -Maybe someone can send us the pics of the plantations. - An adviser to the State Govt on Agric matters said that the land could not sustain the seedlings. - Non incorporation of local farmers is a red flag. Project of this size requires State Govt to incorporate locals that can manage plantations (under contract farming) for sustainability and continuity. Bring in experts to train the local farmers to manage coconut plantations to supply the refinery and let the refinery buy at an agreed price from local farmers. -State Govt had no business managing coconut plantations, 50,000 local farmers in the state with 2 hectares to each farmers will cultivate 100,000 hectares of land. These are red flags that shows that the project is not sustainable. This is the way they commissioned Terago fruit juice coy in Benue State with all the paparazzi and yet nothing came out of that outfit till date. My 2cents |

vanmusco: we have cross breeds already. I crossed Kalahari red with our west African dwarf as my project in Funaab. Other Nigerian Universities like ABU crossed with red sokoto I am aware. Funnab cases are simply for research purposes. It also also include few ones in research institutes like NAPRI. We need the Ministry of Agriculture to take it to another level with appropriate partnership Let it be available to every goat farmer in Nigeria including folks in our village This is the way to revolutionize that sector As it is now, the general public don't have access to few available ones in research institutes. If you need one for your farm, you have to import which is expensive. |

Baroba: That goat ain't cheap to import, trust me.. -That,s what the Min of Agriculture is expected to do. - Import some Kalahari goats and cross breed with our local goats - And/or get semen for artificial insemination. -Distribute to farmers nationwide at subsidized price - We should have all these exotic hybrids of animals(goats & cows) in Nigeria by now Na only MOU we dey see, no concrete results on ground |

wanaj0: It depends on what they are regulating.
CBN is there to ensure that depositors money are safe. They are not looking after interests of shareholders
SEC regulates capital market operators. SEC will not stop you from investing in any company that you like. They however ensure that the companies have full disclosure and appropriate fines accordingly.
It is the shareholders that should ensure good performance of the companies they invest in! Shareholders are the cause of the problem partly because they do not see themselves as 'owners' of the company. Owners should not behave like some shareholders are doing.
Regulators don't determine which shares we buy! Dont agree with you ! - CBN, SEC etc need to ensure full disclosure by corporate bodies. - SEC, CBN etc will not determine which shares you will buy, but they have a responsibility in ensuring the integrity of data submitted by companies which shareholders based their investment decision. - They have failed us in this core function. - You simply wonder how CBN and other regulators could not detect Skye Bank has two financial books and outrageous N280bn in suspense accounts to hide various losses and infractions. Most coys are guilty of this practice. - We have to accept that there is a high level of romance BTW regulators and top management of coys. BGL case & brokerage scandal in Partnership Investment Securities are just examples of numerous cases. http://judefejokwu..com/2017/02/another-brokerage-scandal-rocks-nigeria.html |

sillysassysally: This is a very flawed reasoning.
Warren Buffett once said that as an investor, it is wise to be “Fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful.”
The market is going to go quiet soon - when the earnings season is over and when there are no bullish triggers to propel stocks higher. It'll be a very good time to take position in stocks that would likely report solid Q3 numbers. You can't keep waiting for "one big rally" somewhere.
Looking on to Tbills, yields are around 10% and the expectation is that election risks would pressure rates even higher so if you want to lock in something long now, you'd be biting yourself. I like Buffet but most of us can take the above decision cos we don't have the kind of money he has. He has the war chest to buy coys & take risk. |

AuntyAmope: Good morning fellow NLers. A friend of mine raised the sum of 2.2m with the aim of starting some cool business with good returns. But the ideas aren’t really coming. I mean the genuine and realistic ones. It’s been from one fraudster to another. Totally he has lost almost 150k to them. Some want to sell ideas, some want to patner but they all turned out to be fraud. So I decided to share it with the house. He needs: • A good business idea that can yield the profit and capital in a very short time, i.e 3 months Or • A good investment idea with a good return rate, i.e 10% monthly.

EMMAACHILE: Indian local goat breeds are better than our local goats here. Check their weights. Forage crops are not usually available in urban areas just like op case. Ops need to look at AI to get better breeds and improve on the WAD if weight is a major factor. U can get land in developing areas in urban areas to plant your forage needs Folks are rearing dairy cows in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya Ops should make more research and have a sound business plan |
